Badge/Gym Leader: let's falk up Falkner
Elite/Regular: regular plz and thank
Team: Oz (Midnight Lycanroc 44) + Piltdown (Dracozolt 48) as emergency back-up
Battle Details: Oz spent the first few months with Steven as a doted upon housepokemon, only really training in earnest after his evolution. Steven's definitely been trying to make up for lost time with him, however, with his eye on this very gym! And Oz, now that he's big and scary, is super into taking Falkner and his team down! And hey, he's got the right advantages to do it.

First thing he does is throw up some Stealth Rocks in order to fuck up the second and third opponent once they're switched in after his first faints. Then, well, it's just a matter of throwing the right combination of rocks to bring his opponents down, varying Rock Throw, Rock Slide, and Rock Tomb. There may be some experimenting with Roar in here, to see what kind of synergy that has with Stealth Rocks, because there's a terrible potential for Shenanigans here.

HOPEFULLY, Oz's type and level advantage will get him through the match without fainting, but if he goes down, Steven grits his teeth and brings in Piltdown, who immediately Protects itself, because it's already physically a mess without taking battle damage. Then it uses its Ancient Power against its opponent, before Charging and Thunder Shocking. Lather, rinse, repeat. Steven isn't exactly happy to have to subject the poor chimera to battle, but it's either him or Charlotte and Charlotte is hella overleveled for this battle. It just wouldn't look good.

Badge/Gym Leader: let's plug Bugsy!
Elite/Regular: only the most regular will do
Team: Erik (Lampent 46) + Tiger Mask (Torracat 34) and Leo (Houndour 23) for emergency back-up
Battle Details: Not gonna lie, given a certain type weakness that Bug shares with Steel, this battle is 100% practice for when Steven goes back to Olivine in an attempt to bin Jasmine again, once his Fire-types are high enough level. Which will probably still take a bit, unfortunately, because even with him training them as hard as he can, as a Rocket he can only get them up five levels a week. But hey, he ran into a move tutor in Olivine on the way to taking Connie and her friend to supper after they both failed to beat Jasmine, so now he's got some pokemon with Heat Wave. Yay?

Anyway! Erik is his main pokemon for this fight and hopefully he's got a decent enough level/type advantage to get through on his own. He starts by Fire-Spinning his opponents into a burning ring of fire, before blasting them with Flamethrower and Heat Wave. Occasionally, he'll even use Inferno, but probably only once per opponent since he's got a very limited number of those. When Fire Spin wears off, he renews it.

Since he's doubly resistant to Bug, he should be able to make it through the whole Gym, but if not, in goes Tiger Mask, who's maybe a touch underleveled but hey, this is why he's back-up and not the lead fighter. He's got Fire Fang for gnawing on his opponents, plus a bit of Ember, but will probably focus more on his Heat Wave since it's a stronger attack. Also, he's normally resistant to Bug. Meanwhile Leo is super underleveled and without any resistance to bug, but on standby in case of the worst. Ember and Heat Wave for him too.

(Hopefully if it looks like Erik is getting too low, Steven can quick yank him out for a heal, switch in Tiger Mask for a minute while Erik gets his heal, and then switch Erik back in, but there's always the chance he'll gamble on the little fire spoop weathering damage that he didn't.)

Basically this entire gym is setting everything on fire because after neglecting that type for so long, Steven needs the practice.
