Character: Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd | nastyboy Badge/Gym Leader: Clair for the Rising Badge Elite/Regular: Regular Team Team: No Items, Rat Only, Final Destination Battle Details: Felix said not to do all rats. Dimitri is doing all rats. Because sometimes you need to prove your boyfriend wrong.
So against Gyarados, Dimitri is going to unleash the weakest of his rats, Sooter. The difference in level is pretty close - Gyarados being 65 while Sooter is 66 - but that's fine. All of his rats are now small batteries, and Sooter will demonstrate this by unleashing a nice Thunder Wave. That should keep Gyarados in place even for just a moment, and a moment is all that's needed for Sooter to dig in with Super Fang. One Swords Dance later, and Sooter aims to clean this up really quick with Crunch, however many times that takes. The name of the game in this battle is, as usual, cleaning up really quickly before Gyarados can trap him in a Whirlpool, or go with its hard hitting moves like Hyper Beam.
Hopefully all goes well, because Dimitri aims to go up against Kingdra with Hob. There's a solid 10 level difference, which he hopes will help with Kingdra's tricky typing. He could do a repeat of last time... But Ochako is in the audience, so he wants to show her a bit of variety.
So instead, he starts off by buffing her up with Sword Dance, and then a quick follow up with Rock Smash in hopes of damaging Kingdra's defenses further. Should Kingdra try to go up with Agility, she'll smack him back down with a Scary Face so that he doesn't get ahead of himself (or her, for that matter). But the real game here is powering herself up, like with Focus Energy, in order to unleash an Ice Beam. Kingdra may lack the Ice weakness that many other dragons don't, but that 10% chance to freeze can't be overlooked! Nor the already decent punch behind the move to start with. Hopefully it hits and, if not, she can always keep going!
And finally.... There's Dragonite. So Dimitri brings out Gremlin the Rattata.
Yes.
You heard him.
He's not stuttering here. And the first move that happens? Well, Gremlin is going to look up at this fearsome Dragon and just... bat his pretty sparkling eyes.
(This is of course going off of the assumption that VR Clair is the same as her HG/SS incarnation, and has her Dragonite as female too. If this isn't the case, don't worry - we'll just speedrun straight to Bastard Town instead with Gremlin utilizing Swagger against a male Dragonite.)
The goal is the same either way - giving Gremlin some space via attraction or confusion, and hopefully avoiding, at least for a little while, moves like Wrap, or disrupting moves like Roost.
Gremlin will take this time to hit Dragonite with a Toxic, aiming to get in some more damage as well even if he becomes otherwise preoccupied. A little bit of Tail Whip, and then Gremlin will start going in for the actual damage moves like Crunch and Return.
Hopefully, with an Attraction or Confusion in place, he'll be able to last throughout the battle, but if he gets hit hard and manages to surrive, Gremlin will try to pop off an Endeavor to drag Dragonite down with him. If it looks like he can finish things off himself, he'll do so with a Quick Attack. If not, it's fine - he'll gladly U-Turn out of there so that one of the others can clear things up.
Besides the three that Dimitri plans on sending out, he also has two Raticate waiting in the wing: Cofgodas and Knocker. With both of them carrying Thunder Wave, Super Fang, and various other moves, no doubt they can wrap up if one of their teammates can't go on, or if Gremlin switches out.
If the Dragonite is a girl, after the battle, Gremlin will give her a flower chewed off from someone else's flower patch. Because he's a god damn gentleman. But don't worry, Clair, they're not compatible, and also Dimitri will scoop his rat up and carry him off after the usual after-battle pleasantries.
