Character: Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd | nastyboy Badge/Gym Leader: Sabrina for the Marsh Badge Elite/Regular: ELITE TEAM Team:Consisting of Dean the Emboar, Gremlin the Rattata, Gaibhennen the Miltank, Adarllwchgwin the Altaria, Grindy the Kingler, and Karimala the Lapras Battle Details: Dimitri always feels kind of dumb around psychic types, honestly... but that just means he and his team really have to work hard for this match!
And so they start that off strong, with Dean the Emboar going up against Sabrina's Jynx! His fighting subtype may not match well against a Psychic type, but Fire VS Ice? That's a much more even battle! Of course, the most worrying thing in Dimitri's opinion is if Jynx uses either of her sleep-inducing moves, like Sing, or Sweet Kiss.
So to get the biggest hit in while they can, Dean unleashes a Flamethrower right out the gate. It's one of the stronger fire moves Dean has, and the chance of a burn can't be overlooked! If they're lucky enough to get that, then of course Dean will toss in a little bit of Assurance in there, if he can. Emboar aren't really meant to be status-affecting battlers like a lot of Psychic types, of course... So Dimitri and Dean are hoping to bull rush straight through with pure force! If it looks as though Jynx might be gearing up for a song or a kiss, Dean will try to pull in with a Defense Curl to help mitigate what damage he can... But hopefully pure firepower will stop before things get too bad with any status inflictions!
With all things hopefully going well, it's Gremlin the Rattata up against Wobuffet! The most tricky thing here is the idea of an Encore and Mirror Coat combination - having Wobuffet's opponent stuck in a trap that hurts just themself.
But that's why Dimitri has Gremlin on the scene, since Rattata are all about those Physical attacks. In particular, their strategy will rely on Sucker Punch! With their natural array of moves, Wobuffet can only use Mirror Coat and Counter for the offense... And with Sucker Punch as a Physical and Dark-type move, it evades all of the requirements that those two moves are meant for! If he gets a chance, Gremlin isn't afraid to use Bite or Shadow Ball either, and, should Sabrina attempt to call Wobuffet back, Gremlin isn't afraid of a little Pursuit.
Of course, the very likely scenario is that Wobuffet uses Destiny Bond to link themself to a rat... But in that case, Gremlin will smack them with a U-Turn, and have someone else on the team finish Wobuffet off, right towards the end.
Gabby the Miltank is who rolls out to match up against Espeon! Literally. She literally uses Defense Curl and goes straight into Roll Out.
Listen.... if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Of course... It's also probably unlikely that this move alone will be able to take out Espeon, although Dimitri wouldn't exactly object to such a result. That's fine. To keep Espeon trapped in the party, Gabby is full ready to unleash a Whirlpool as well, and Play Rough with her new friend.
If worst comes to worst, she's ready to Endure, but it shouldn't come to that point with a little Milk Drink. If she gets hit with any dangerous Confusion effects, hopefully she'll be able to get her hooves underneath her to ring that Heal Bell!
Now, out of all of Sabrina's team, Dimitri is actually the most concerned about her Gallade... So it might not make any initial sense to send out his lowest level Pokemon, Karimala the Lapras, out to challenge him. However, Dimitri's hope is that Gallade doesn't choose a move that takes her out with a Confusion effect immediately, because he plans on having her play that same game with moves like Confuse Ray and Sing. With Gallade hopefully and momentarily kept out of the way, that's enough time for Karimala to set out a soothing Mist onto the field.
And then... Well, then it's time for the offensive, with her unleashing hell with Hydro Pump. That's the kind of move that can help her get Gallade down to a more manageable health, whereupon Brine is unleashed with no mercy. Ideally, that should be enough to get him down for the count...
But if not, and things are looking so bad that not even Life Dew can fix it (assuming it's not taken out of the equation entirely by Imprison), Karimala isn't afraid to belt out her Perish Song.
This is clearly a couple's battle, because up against Sabrina's matching Gardevoir, it's Karimala's darling Grindy the Kingler who storms onto the field. There's no stopping things here, of course. Ready to use Protect if Dimitri can spot and recognize Gardevoir gearing up for Hypnosis, Grindy is far more interested in starting off aggressive with Razor Shell. It's a set up meant to weaken Gardevoir for the incoming Crabhammer. That Moonblast of hers could definitely be a danger, but hopefully Grindy can use Protect there, too, if they realize it's coming in...
But mostly it's all about that Crabhammer, and maybe a little bit of Flail if he's really in the most tight of spots.
Finishing things up against Alakazam - hopefully - is Gwin the Altaria! And there, well, it's a similar tactic as with Karimala: opening up the battle with Sing, in order to make Alakazam vulnerable to the strongest move Gwin knows, Sky Attack. That level of damage should hopefully end the battle in short order, once Gwin follows up with another move like Dragon Pulse or Moonblast.
Some of these battles are cutting it a bit close, and may take some Pokemon out completely depending on how things play out - mainly Gremlin if Destiny Bond traps him completely, and Karimala's use of Perish Song - so Dimitri doesn't really have a lot of backup options if one of his Pokemon falls early in their battle. If he absolutely must, then he'll use a Pokemon that's battled earlier to try and clean up, so that the others can enter their own fights while still in perfect condition. If that's not an option... He'll use Karimala and Gwin, if they're available, to do another Sing strategy.
