Since I don't know if I'm going to be here on the week that he actually is in the area, I'm submitting for Olivine right now (if that's alright) but it won't be official until like around the 14th. I'm already late on Ecruteak so I apologize for doubling up again. Once more, rolling back levels for Ecruteak to the approximate week so the level will be higher on the actual link to the pokemon for some of these, but I listed their levels at the time for whomever has to read this.
P.S. You didn't see me stay up way too late, then forget which Gym I had to plan for.
Battle Details: Haunter (L: 45) Shoto is going to try to trust in the heart of the cards, all while not letting his mostly ghostly buddies take a huge beating with super effective moves. However, that doesn't mean they're sitting this out and his tiny teacup is going to make a reappearance. Sinstea has a few moves that, while he is just as likely to be hit a bit hard, his level is almost 100, it's not going to OHKO him I don't think. However, if he takes too much damage, that means that Greninja is up. Greninja is being given a huge take in a lot of these battles to carry them over. It's not hurt more than normally by some of Haunter's moves and is effective against ghost types with it's own dark type moves. Those will be the main focus of the attacks with Sinstea of course focusing mostly on using Sucker Punch and Ghost moves. Todoroki won't let him take too much damage though. As much as he loves his cup and wants him to battle and be happy, he wants him to live too. He's also a first evo so that puts Sinstea at a disadvantage.
Misdreavus (L: 47) Houndoom is only a few levels above Misdreavus, that makes this a little more tentative matchup. However, they are a full ghost type and Houndoom is a dark/fire. Paired up with Persian, this is to give Houndoom battling experience since Persian has dark moves but also is a level 100.
Gengar (L: 50) Lycanroc's dark moves are employed here, and using Skitty's only dark move at least lets them not be touched by majority ghost moves. Not all, but it provides a small bit of backup for Lycanroc despite the level difference. Rock moves damage normally, but Lycanroc's got level advantage.
Greninja and Persian are the fillers where needed in the teams in case of damage, or too low a level to withstand hits. They'll be employed when the HP of his ghosts are too low, or the lower levels are taking too much damage for Todoroki's liking.
Skarmory (L: 55) Talonflame and Eelektrik are air and sea against this. Well, if the sea had levitate and electric moves. Skarmory is weak against Electric and Fire and this duo will be utilizing those things against this pokemon. Their combined levels alone are formidable as they are, but the typing helps just in case.
Magneton (L: 57) Cinderace and Houndoom are teaming up to try to take down this one. Their levels aren’t going to be like Talonflame and Eelektrik, but if something goes apocalyptic, at least Talonflame or Eelektrik is there to help, too. Houndoom will be relying on its fire while Cinderace has backup if Houndoom can’t finish the job and needs to be pulled.
Steelix (L: 60) The hardest of the fights for sure for this team is the Steelix, they do have type advantage and level advantage but unless they need to pull those things out of the hat, then Greninja will be focusing mainly water attacks and the Lycanroc with counter when and if their turn is required.
