Character: Princess Allura | [personal profile] heartofalioness
Badge/Gym Leader: Whitney, Plain Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Glicynia the Galarian Rapidash, Fraldor the Luxray, and Kirlos the Altaria
Battle Details:
First up is Glicynia against Girafarig. On paper, the match-up seems neutral at best, subpar at worst, given Girafarig is resistant to Psychic and only normally affected by Fairy, and has access to Ghost moves Astonish and possibly Shadow Ball that could mess up Glicynia if they hit. But not only does the Rapidash have an experience advantage, she’s a bit sturdier than the Long Neck Pokémon, considerably faster with a higher Attack, and she has a secret weapon… Megahorn! So Allura’s strategy is to take the initiative and just charge in with Megahorn before Girafarig has a chance to retaliate. If Girafarig manages to survive the initial assault and fight back, Glicynia has a Persim berry to ward against confusion, and should be able to endure a hit long enough to attempt another Megahorn, plus or minus a Bounce beforehand to possibly paralyze Girafarig and hold it still for a better shot.

For Clefable, Allura will bring out Fraldor. At first, the typing seems pretty neutral, but Allura chose him for the experience advantage and the resistance to Steel and Electric moves and neutrality to the rest of Cefable’s moveset in case this one is as loaded with TMs as in the games, immunity to paralysis, and a formidable arsenal of attacks. (Not to mention the Nidorina Allura got from Rainer is still VERY spicy...) Fraldor will start off with Light Screen and Flash in order to make it harder for Clefable to land an attack and to cause Special Attacks to do less damage if they do hit. And while Fraldor does excel in physical attacks, Allura doesn’t want to risk Clefable having Cute Charm and have Fraldor be infatuated, so instead the Luxray will attack from a distance with Thunder Wave to cause paralysis and follow it up with Thunder. If Clefairy manages to land anything that’ll cause a non-paralysis status condition, he has a Lum Berry on him that at least should keep Allura out of a loop of healing for a while.

And last but not least, it’s Kirlos versus Miltank! This might seem a bit risky, given that Kirlos is Dragon/Flying going against Miltank’s infamous Rollout, but there’s a reason for this. Agility and Cotton Guard will give him much-needed boosts to Speed and Defense to throw off Miltank's rhythm and to endure her physical attacks. And it’ll be pretty hard for Miltank to use Rollout if Kirlos Sings her to sleep, and she only has the one Lum berry to wake her up again. That sets Kirlos up nicely to hit her with a Hurricane for a powerful Special move with a 30% chance to confuse her, followed by Fly if she’s still standing.
