Since Oikawa has heard that Witney is "one of the strongest" thanks to Steve Palchuk, Oikawa will also be having his Pokémon use moves such as Dragon Dance, Leer, Nasty Plot, Hone Claws, and the like to set up and weaken Witney's pokemon as much as possible before going in hard with attacking moves to try and get as many flinches or status effects as possible.

Once Sunny Day fades, Houndoom will also be employing Thunder Fangs against Erika's Jumpluff for hopes of paralysis if it doesn't get burned or poisoned first by Fire type moves or Smog. If things start looking rough, Oikawa will send in Dragalge and assault the remaining Pokémon with Poison Type moves to finish the battle.
