Character: Keldor | behindblueskin Badge/Gym Leader: Morty | Fog Badge Elite/Regular: Regular Team:Kukishoku | Sunitchi | Sunatchi Battle Details: Soaring in to Ecruteak City is a man who is still avoiding his battle with Whitney. It's really kind of silly, because it's not the sort of thing that you can put off forever—not if you want to complete the Indigo League anyways. But I guess for now we'll be challenging Morty for his Fog Badge.
Let's get started.
Keldor it seems is someone who likes to have a reasonably even spread regarding pokemon types, rather than specialising, but with Morty's specialty being Ghost, Keldor's a little short in the advantage department when it comes to battling Ghost pokemon. He's got plenty of Ghost types himself, but the problem with using them is that Ghost is weak to its own type, and Keldor has no intentions of allowing his opponent to capitalise on that.
The good news is that two of Morty's pokemon have a Psychic weakness to exploit, but doing so means risking Psychic's Ghost weakness, so to counter that, he needs the level advantage. Thankfully most of his pokemon are in the Level 100 Club, so it won't hurt as much sending in one of them.
HAUNTER
To start things off, we need someone who can bring the pain whilst taking the pain, and that means Keldor's choice is his Bronzong, Kukishoku. Being a Psychic type means the big bell will be vulnerable to Ghost moves, but as it's also a Steel type, whatever advantage Morty's Haunter might've had has been neutralised somewhat. Not a bad choice. But Morty didn't get to where he is by being a lousy battler, and he knows that the only way he might be able to deal with this is to cause as many status effects as possible. To deal with that, Keldor will need to hit hard as soon as possible, once he's protected his pokemon with Safeguard, and because Bronzong is slower than Haunter and knows Payback, that means it's gonna hurt Haunter a lot more by going second rather than first, and that's not taking into account that it's a Dark move—something Haunter will be vulnerable to. Once that's done, it's time to use Extrasensory. Sure, we could've gone with Confusion, but Extrasensory has a 10% chance of causing a Flinch, and Keldor's banking on it, which means that it'll be the go-to move to take out Haunter, rather than using the weaker Confusion or the turn-waiting Future Sight.
MISDREAVUS
To deal with Misdreavus, Keldor's brought along his Thievul, Sunitchi. It might've been the fact that Misdreavus is pure Ghost that made Keldor select a pure Dark type, but really, it's more that Thievul's moves are mostly Dark type, and what isn't a Dark type is Normal [Ghost's main resistance], so to boost Sunitchi's some Hone Claws to beef up her Attack and gain Accuracy, before delivering a nasty Beat Up, a Sucker Punch, and then finally, a Night Slash.
Good night. Sleep tight.
GENGAR
Last but not least is Morty's strongest regular team pokemon, Gengar. Unlike Haunter and Misdreavus, it no longer has access to Levitate and thus immunity to Ground moves, which is something its Poison typing won't like, especially given that Keldor's choice of his last battler is the Ground/Dark type Krookodile, and that means when Sunatchi plays beach bully by kicking up a Sand Attack in its face, Gengar will be affected by it. But wait! There's more! The beach bully is also using Sand Tomb to add additional damage alongside the Bites and the Earthquake Sunatchi'll be using to take the big bad Ghost out.
