Character: Ryou Bakura | rolltoavoidpossession Badge/Gym Leader: Clair | Rising Badge Elite/Regular: Regular Team:Change of Heart, Will-o-Wisp, Doppelganger, Reaper Battle Details: Ryou was originally going to wait for spring to face Clair since he didn't want to make the trip in the winter, but since he happened to go to Blackthorn to help find the missing Delibird, he might as well challenge the gym after assisting in the Dondozo/Tatsugiri fight!
VS Gyarados
He'll open up with Change of Heart the Morpeko, who will lead with Thunder Wave to paralyze the Gyarados, followed by either Aura Wheel or Thunder Fang for damage, depending on if Heart is in Full Belly Mode or Hangry Mode (he wants the super effective damage and Aura Wheel has a nasty habit of changing to Dark type whenever Morpeko switches to Hangry Mode). Speed in shutting down this Gyarados is key here, since it potentially has access to numerous stat boosting moves (Dragon Dance), weather moves (Rain Dance), and general powerful moves (Hyper Beam, Thrash, Aqua Tail). He's also given Heart a Sitrus Berry to hold, to help offset any damage from the Gyarados.
VS Kingdra
So, Kingdra can potentially have Sniper as an ability, which makes crits more powerful than normal. That, combined with moves like Focus Energy and Laser Focus to boost crit rates or even guarantee crits, has Ryou very nervous. So nervous, in fact, he built his Kingdra strategy around stopping Sniper hax.
Ryou will switch Change of Heart out for Will-o-Wisp the Gourgeist, who will lead with Worry Seed to forcibly change Kingdra's ability to Insomnia, stopping any potential crit hax in their tracks. This will be followed up by Leech Seed for quick chip damage and healing and Moonblast for damage.
If Will-o-Wisp gets too low health, Ryou will switch out for Doppelganger the Mimikyu, who will try to clean up with Play Rough.
VS Dragonite
Doppelganger is coming out to fight if he isn't already out, and will open up with Double Team to boost evasion before using Play Rough for damage. The Mimikyu's typing should render him immune to all Dragon and Normal type attacks, and Disguise should soften the first blow from the Dragonite if the earlier Kingdra didn't already activate it. Doppelganger is also holding a Cheri Berry to cure paralysis in case of Thunder Wave.
If Doppelganger gets too beat up to continue, then Ryou has one more trick up his sleeve: Reaper the Dragapult, inherited from Kaiba after he vanished some months ago and now ready to fight. Reaper is holding a Haban Berry to reduce damage from one super effective Dragon attack, and will just go for Dragon Darts to finish things up fast if it's gotten to this point.
