Battle Details:

Hello, I am here again and a giant strategy fell out of my pocket.

Armin will start off the battle with Hannibal his Piloswine vs Lt Surge’s Electabuzz. Though they are not that dissimilar in level, he’s banking on Hannibal’s immunity to electricity and his opponent’s weakness to ground attacks to carry him through the battle.

He’ll start off by using a few mud bombs and mud slaps, not only to damage his opponent, but more critically to lower his accuracy. When the electrabuzz is properly covered in mud, Armin will have Hannibal switch to using bulldoze until his opponent goes down. Due to Electrabuzz’s wide variety of electric attacks which Hannibal should be immune to, Armin is not expecting him to be too hurt yet at this stage of the fight.

Next up is Lt Surge’s magneton, for which Armin will keep Hannibal in the fight. In essence, he is counting on magneton’s 4x weakness to ground overcoming Hannibal’s weakness to 2x weakness to steel attacks. Again, as with Lt Surge’s Electrabuzz, Hannibal will first focus on using a few mud slaps and mud bombs. These are even more critical than in the first fight as he will really need that drop in accuracy to protect him from the steel attacks. Once that has been accomplished, he’ll switch to using bulldoze again. (great move, thanks mysterious benefactor for the prom loot.)

Armin is hoping for Hannibal to get him through the whole fight against Lt Surge’s Magneton (after which he will withdraw him to rest) but should he faint before the end of the battle, he’ll bring out his Incineroar Magellan. Magellan might not have an immunity to electric attacks, but he does resist magneton’s steel attacks, and he knows both bulldoze (ground) and a variety of nice fire attacks. Adding to that, his higher level, and Armin has no doubt Magellan will be able to take on this opponent.

At the end of this battle, Armin will withdraw whoever was in the battle, (undoubtedly leading to loud protests from Magellan if he is out in the ring) and bring out his Steelix Himeko to mop up the final battle.

Himeko has the disadvantage of level against Lt Surge’s Raichu, but she has complete immunity to electricity which should take care of the majority of Raichu’s damage dealing attacks. She has one damage dealing ground attack (bulldoze) she’ll start pounding (oh my) Lt Surge’s Raichu with, but should she exhaust that move before the battle is over, she’ll switch to using basically any of her other damage dealing attacks (slam, tackle, rock throw, rock tomb, and so on) until her opponent goes down.

Should Himeko go down against Lt Surge’s Raichu, Armin will bring Magellan (back) out into play. Again, the big cat ain’t got an immunity to electricity (but also no weakness) but the difference in level should be enough. Or so Armin has planned at least.

As a further note, Armin will be bringing Circinus the voltorb and Atticus the phanpy along to the battle, but he won’t use them. In the rare event that all his other pokemon are taken out, he will forfeit. He brought Atticus along to witness a proper gym battle and teach the little guy about them. He brought Circinus along to show off show him to Lt Surge and ask if he has any advice on raising a voltorb / electric type properly.
