Crobat is weak to ice move so Armin will be focusing on ice moves. Hannibal also has ancient power which is a rock type move which crobat is also weak too, which can be used if in a pinch. Still, at first Armin is going to focus on Hannibal’s ice moves, because those get STAB damage. Crobat is a flying/Poison type and Hannibal resists poisoning damage, so between that and Hannibal’s higher level, Armin hopes Crobat won’t be able to do too much damage to his pokemon. Just in case, Armin has given Hannibal a Pecha Berry to hold and quickly consume if he does end up poisoned.
In battle, Armin will start off by ordering Hannibal to use Icy Wind a few times to drop Crobat’s speed, so it cannot avoid future attacks as easily. After that, he’ll switch to using Ice Fang (10% possibility of freezing and 10% possibility of flinching) and Blizzard (10% possibility of freezing) to finish it off. Due to Crobat’s weakness to ice and Hannibal’s higher level, Armin feels safe in assuming this first part of things won’t take too long.

Aradios vs Incineroar (Magellan)
In order to deal with Janine’s Aradios, Armin will withdraw Hannibal and instead release Magellan. Magellan is a Fire/Dark type, while Aradios is weak to fire. Magellan doesn’t resist either of Aradios’ Bug/Poison types but he is one of Armin’s strongest and most eager fighters, so of course Armin is going to use him.
Armin is mainly going to be concerned about Aradios getting a good shot in and poisoning Magellan, so he’ll be focusing on coming out strong right from the start and ending this battle quickly. As with Hannibal, he has given Magellan a Pecha berry to hold, but he also knows that that won’t help much if Magellan gets poisoned several times in a row.
Armin will start off the battle by making Magellan use Fire Fang (10% possibility of burning the opponent and 10% possibility of making them flinch). He will switch this up with using Flamethrower (10% possibility of burning the opponent). He recently was able to find a tutor that taught Magellan the move Blast Burn which is a very strong fire-type move, but will also mean Magellan has to recharge the turn afterwards. So Armin’s plan is to try and get down Aradios’ HP significantly and then allow Magellan to use Blast Burn and knock out Aradios’ remaining HP in one go so he won’t need to be vulnerable while recharging.
Final opponent
Venomoth vs Noctowl (Amadeus)
After having dealt with Janine’s Aradios, it’s time for the final battle, and Armin will yet again be switching pokemon for this. Magellan will get a chance to rest up, and Armin will bring out his old starter pokemon Amadeus.
As a noctowl, Amadeus is part flying type which is what Venomoth is weak too. Additionally, while he is not a psychic type, he does learn a lot of psychic type moves which is another thing that Venomoth is weak too. Meanwhile Amadeus resists Venomoth’s bug type which is what makes up the majority of its attacks and he also resists grass type moves of which Venomoth has a few as well.
Again, as with the other two, Armin has given Amadeus a Pecha berry to hold (Sasha’s interest in growing berries is really paying off here) in order to ward off any poisoning.
Armin will immediately start off the battle using Fly. Not only is it a move Venomoth is weak too, but he also hopes that by flying high up in the air, Amadeus will be able to avoid many of Venomoth’s poison type moves and keep from being poisoned. If Amadeus does end up poisoned, he has a pecha berry to heal him, but if he has already used up that, Armin will try and use psycho shift. This is an attack that allows the pokemon afflicted by a status condition to transfer that condition to their opponent. In addition to fly, Armin will also have Amadeus use moves such as Zen Headbutt (20% chance of flinching) and Air Slash (30% chance of flinching). After all, the fewer moves Venomoth can do, the less chance there is of it hitting Amadeus hard.
All things considered though, with Amadeus’ higher level, resistance to bug type move and Venomoth’s weakness to flying and psychic moves, he thinks he’s pretty safe in this battle.
