Character: Stanford Pines | [personal profile] meteorman
Badge/Gym Leader: Earth Badge | Blue
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Scylla (lv. 60), Jellybean (lv. 60), Mirkwood (lv. 64), Kerouac (lv. 70), MIPS (lv. 80), Fantastic Mr. Fox (lv. 90)
Battle Details: Ford is here for his final Kanto badge! It's time. He's ready. Unlucky badge thirteen at easily the hardest gym in both regions, here we go.

He's brought a team mostly on-par with Blue's, with Mr. Fox and MIPS in the back for some extra levels in case he winds up in a tight spot. He's done his research on Blue's team because he's Ford Pines and can't not do research, so he's got a contingency plan for most of the Pokémon he might face.

He'll be leading with Scylla, both to gauge things out and because she has moves that will hit a lot of Blue's Pokémon hard. His method with her will be setting up an Aqua Ring and then trying to do a good chunk of damage before she gets to low enough health that he feels the need to Baton Pass her out. His hope is that she can at least Ice Beam the Exeggutor out of the equation before he needs to swap her; if not he'll pass into Mirkwood to finish things up.

Mirkwood is out against the Machamp. Ford is going to be relying on his arsenal of strong Flying-type moves and Mirkwood's immunity to Fighting to get through that fight; hopefully that will be enough, because he wants to keep Mirkwood in against the Rhydon as well. Mirkwood has a nice selection of Grass attacks lined up for that match.

Jellybean is out against the Gyarados. Ford forsees the second half of this battle being more difficult, so he's brought the asshole stallwall that took down Misty. Jellybean doesn't have anything that might one-hit Gyarados, but he does have his Sticky Barb that he can transfer over for some extra damage and a nice array of high-power moves, some of which hit for STAB. If Gyarados ever hecks him up too bad, he can Recover (he'll likely go for setting up a Future Sight and then healing on the turn that it hits, if he can afford to play that kind of game).

Into the home stretch. Jellybean is going to stay out against the Pidgeot for as long as he can handle, but in the event he needs to be swapped out Ford will bring out Kerouac. His method here is simple: Toxic, Venoshock. Simple, effective. He's going to keep that strategy up on through the Arcanine, and if things start to look dire an Explosion should finish things off in his favor.

MIPS and Mr. Fox are really only here for moral support, and in the event that something really very bad happens.
