LAST BADGE

Character: Heather Mason | [personal profile] foolishwren
Badge/Gym Leader: Blue / Earthbadge
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Roster Link. Heather will be bringing her whole #1 fully-realized battle team: Godzilla the Feraligatr, Alessa the Absol, Carousel the Rapidash, Tricia the Manectric, Val Jr. the Hitmonchan, and Sunny the Togekiss. All level 100.
Battle Details: THIS IS EXCITING. For the first time ever she doesn't have to stockpile a gym team based solely on having five Pokemon that all know Fire moves for no good reason! Now, Heather could go for a straightforward type advantage strategy-- she certainly has the type coverage. But this is the last badge. And for all that she's grown since arriving, she wouldn't be Heather Mason if she didn't have something to prove.

Rather than stack the odds in her own favor by pitting her fire against Blue's grass, electric against water, etc, she wants to prove she really is the very best, like no one ever was.

So against Venusaur, she'll be sending out Val Jr.-- while not weak to it, Fighting isn't particularly stellar against Grass-types. Val does, however, have Ice Punch and Fire Punch, along with some powerful Normal-type moves.

Against Charizard, it's fire vs. fire with Carousel. A land-bound Pokemon against something wings may not always be the best idea, but 1. Carousel can Bounce and 2. Heather happened to pick up a Wild Charge TM in Vermilion City for this very purpose. Enjoy your Flying Type with a side of a billion volts, you fake dragon.

For Blastoise, Godzilla will take the helm. Unlike Carousel, he doesn't know any unexpected super-effective attacks against his own type, but he is a pillar of muscle with strong offensive moves that will work just fine-- Crunch, Dragon Pulse, Shadow Claw, Superpower... Heather's confident that her croc can take on Gun Turtle and show everybody what a REAL water-type can do.

Pidgeot gets to face Sunny, whose versatile moveset has won Heather many a Gym-battle. She's not as agile a flyer as the Pidgey line is, but Twister will throw a monkey wrench into any attempts to Fly its way out of trouble, and Ancientpower should seal the deal. Why kill two birds with one stone when you can kill just the other guy's bird with many stones? Wisdom.

Against Jolteon will be another speedy electric canine-- like Zilla, Tricia doesn't know any moves that directly counter her own type. But she is fast, smart, and should Blue make the mistake of having Jolteon use any electric moves, her Lightningrod ability will soak them up to fuel her other special attacks like Signal Beam and Flamethrower.

Last but not least, Tyranitar will have the terrible good fortune of facing the dark-type Alessa. Since earning an Absolite last year, Heather honestly hasn't utilized Mega Evolution very much. It seems like a waste of energy to bust it out for every ye olde random battle on the road, and all the times it COULD have been useful seemed to happen whenever Alessa wasn't right by her side. But for her sixteenth badge? You bet she's gonna bust out that magnificent Mega Absol with a quadruple-effective Superpower attack to end the night with motherf***ing bang.
