Egon finally got off his ass and realized he could challenge Pokémon gyms for rewards--money, TMs, and the glory of having a badge.
Egon knows most of his team is on the slow side, but that's why he'll first be using Q*Bert to deploy a Trick Room before returning him immediately. That way, Egon's Pokémon are almost guaranteed to hit first or have time to prepare a set-up before being attacked by any of Chuck's Pokémon. As this gym is almost entirely fighting type, Egon's going to be relying on Kölliker, his Reuniclus, to be delivering the hard hits, like Psyshock and Psychic while using Recover when she needs to gain back some HP and Protect to prevent those punches/kicks from getting through to her. Hopefully, that change in speed bracket can help Kö easily dispatch her foes. If Kö falls prey to Chuck's team, Egon will switch to Q*Bert and attempt to use their Psychic-type moves like Psybeam and using Agility to boost Porygon2's speed.
When it comes to dealing with Poliwrath, he'll try to whittle down its health with Kö, if she's still in the fray, but he'll eventually send out Faraday, his Trevenant starter, to deal Grass-type moves such as Horn Leech or Giga Drain. She might be a little overleveled for this, but Egon can't just go challenging his first gym without having his daughter participating, as well.
