Canon Resource Links: There's a fandom wiki link here that should cover pretty much everything in far more detail than anyone could want I am sorry.

Wikipedia's article on the series provides a more concise summary of things. There is also a Wikipedia blurb on Sento himself that places an odd amount of emphasis on one of the crossover movies and post-series movies while not focusing much on the series itself and mostly devotes itself to Build's various forms. The Wikipedia article on Takumi Katsuragi also contains a bit of backstory info that isn't as mired in the tl;dr of the Rider Wiki.

Original Character Background: N/A

Personality: Sento loves science. It's the best. When he gets particularly excited about a scientific idea, some of his hair will pop up in a wild curl, and he'll immediately drop everything in order to go wander off and start scribbling equations on a marker board or other available large flat surface. He'll hyperfocus on whatever scientific task he has if it's interesting or important enough. He values cleanliness and order, but this all goes out the window if he's sufficiently focused on a scientific problem or other task. When a single-minded need to accomplish something through the power of science strikes him, sleep is for the weak and food doesn't really need to happen because science alone can sustain him. (He would like to think, anyway.)

Sento's love of science and math cannot be understated. When presented with an opportunity to draw on someone's face in revenge for her drawing on his face while he was napping, he writes equations everywhere. His watch is not a normal watch and instead features some kind of mathematical expression for each number on the clock face. He is a colossal nerd. He also believes that science should be used for the betterment of mankind--the idea of someone using science to hurt people or make war seems to offend him on some deep and instinctive level. He initially approaches fighting Smash as a grand experiment; the Build Driver is a piece of experimental technology, and he's its willing guinea pig. What happens to him is far less important than in saving people, a mindset that only shows through more strongly as the series progresses. He's put through the wringer time and time again, and each time, he emerges focused on saving people, on fixing things, on making the world right. A major driving focus in his desire to save people is the desire to use science for good, for Evolt and Faust have used it to bring so much harm to so many people.

He generally carries himself in a confident, self-assured fashion, though after the reveal of his true identity, the confidence took on the role of a convenient shield for his actual emotions and mindset. Finding out you're not at all who you thought you were and worse, that who you actually are is the Devil's Scientist, is kind of a hard thing to deal with. He has so many regrets for what Takumi Katsuragi did--what he did that he's made no effort to reclaim that identity. Earlier in the series, he claimed that what he feared most was never finding out who he really was, so of course he learned you better be careful what you wish for. He's now Sento Kiryu--as one of his friends put it, "the hero that we all built"--and he is determined to use this life for the greater good.

Despite his often brusque and egotistical manner, Sento deeply cares for people. He's garbage at showing it, but he does care. That's why he and Banjou often take turns trying to die for each other because neither of them has much of a sense of self-preservation. He might not care for himself, a tendency which has only gotten worse now that the truth of his identity has been revealed, but he cares for others. That lack of self-preservation is one reason why Sento is so ready to go out there and fight as Build--he's saving someone else from that sort of fate. The idea of saving people resonates with him. He wants to be a protector, wants to be a rescuer, wants to make up for what he's done and what's been done to him. Because of the circumstances of his amnesia and subsequent stint as a self-proclaimed "hero of justice," Sento's friends were very important and influential in his development as a new person. Their trust, their kindness, and Sento's desire to help them, to help everyone showed him who and what he wanted to be now. And he, in turn, provided inspiration for them.

He's very intelligent, he's aware of that, and he's proud of it. He is, as it's put at one point, "a narccisistic, egotistic, righteous superhero." He gives people a hard time if he's got to dumb things down. "Humble" isn't a thing he does very well, and he's got a healthy ego. He shows this off with Banjou more than anyone else, partially because that's the nature of their friendship. It's easy to get a rise out of Banjou, and Sento knows it. They constantly bicker with one another, and their banter even extends to the relatively self-aware episode recaps. Sento is the sort of person who, when baiting a trap with fake Full Bottles for Blood Stalk to steal, rigs every single one of said Full Bottles with a little flag that pops up with a "Too bad!" and small cartoon picture of himself. He's smarter than you, he knows it, he'll rub your nose in it if he has the chance. And if his infallible intelligence manages to fail, depending on the nature of the failure, he'll bluescreen for a while or throw himself into some sort of research until he feels better.

Victory Road Sample: Alright, fine, fine, Sento could handle this...he thought. He'd grasped the ridiculous basics quickly enough, named his Scorbunny Tank easily enough, and now he was going to face off with another first in this sudden and bizarre journey soon enough. A rodentlike Pokemon had jumped out of the tall grass along this starting route. A Rattata, not that he'd taken the time to learn everything about the oncoming route. He hadn't had time before being thrown out the door. Normally, he absolutely would have researched the hell out of this. But for now, this was all very sudden and lending itself to a complete and total lack of preparation Sento was just having to roll with. "Ah! Tank!" There's a bit of pointing at the Rattata. "Now, our experiment begins!"

The Scorbunny takes a moment to stare at Sento. Such a weird bit of enthusiasm out of such a weird human. (Look at this guy, his shoes didn't even match.) But okay! A Pokemon battle's a Pokemon battle! Tank bounds forward, eager to show his new Trainer (Breeder, actually, but they're both getting adjusted here) what he can do.

Sento remembers a fair amount of what he'd read in the manual--geniuses tend to do these things, after all--and along with this is the unfortunate realization that literally all this Scorbunny can do at this level is two things: Tackle and Growl. It's okay, he's got this. He is not at all sure about their chances, but he can't let on that uncertainty, if only for Tank's sake. "Growl!"

Sure! Tank Growls at the Rattata, and which hesitates only for a moment before rushing at the Scorbunny, teeth bared. It's the sort of thing Tank had been expecting, and he was also expecting more input from his Trainer before what happened next.

Reflex took over, seeing that poor bunny he'd directed into battle get charged at to get undoubtedly chomped. "Look out!" Before Sento could stop himself, he was charging in there to intervene...

...and that's how he ended up with an angry (and a little confused, honestly) Rattata gnawing on his arm (sleeve, thankfully) and a panicky Scorbunny trying to Tackle it off. Just one of those days.
