Personality: The first few things that probably come to mind when we’re first introduced to Keith is that he’s most likely a loner with an attitude issue. And frankly, you wouldn’t be wrong with that assumption. Keith very much sticks to himself, or at least he did prior joining the other six members of team Voltron. He isn’t the type to form quick attachments to people either, as he couldn’t remember who Lance was despite attending the same garrison and being in the same classes together prior his expulsion. It isn’t specifically stated what his family situation is like, because one would assume that after getting expelled from galactic space school for disciplinary issues, you would go back home. Instead, Keith holed up in a shack in the middle of the desert.

Keith very much embodies the fire element of the red lion. He can be very temperamental and hot headed. Sometimes, when he’s in the heat of battle, his emotions tend to get the better of him. He isn’t the type of person to back down from a fight either. You could sort of say that he gets tunnel vision when it comes to something he deeply cares about or desires? If he wants it bad enough, he will do whatever he can to achieve his goal, even if it puts him in harms way or at the risk of dying. If he sees an opportunity to go for something, he’ll do it, even against the behest of everyone else. This is seen during the fight with Zarkon at the end of the first season. He was told (numerous times to boot) by both Allura and Coran to avoid fighting Zarkon at all costs, because he was too powerful to go up all by himself. But Keith saw the opportunity to end it all, to end the war, and went with it. He even turned off the communication system in his lion all because he didn’t want to be bothered or distracted while he was in the middle of fighting the other. He’s also the type of person who would put others needs over his own. He even harped on Pidge about it when she wanted to leave the team to find her father and brother. He told her that she was putting the lives of two people over the lives of millions. Despite all of his faults though, Keith generally means well. He will one hundred percent back up his team when they need him to, he isn’t the type of person to leave people in the dust either.

Going past his skills as a pilot and how he is in the heat of battle, Keith can be very intuitive. He takes to his surroundings like a fish out of water. He goes with his gut most of the time unless something proves him otherwise. This is proven when the others first meet the Arusians (the locals on planet Arus.) He seemed to be very wary of them at first, and came close to fighting one of them off. As he spent time with them though, he eventually came to accept them and realized that they really didn’t mean any harm, they were just curious about the castle. He’s also extremely perceptive as he seemed to know that Pidge was hiding her true gender by saying that he “naturally knew she was a girl” when she told the team the truth. He was also the first to sense the blue lions whereabouts in the desert.

Also as a side note, Keith seems to be on the slow uptake when it comes to jokes. A majority of them seem to go over his head and or are met with often deadpan stares. Like the chant Lance started to say “When I say Vol, you say torn! Vol…” and Keith replied by answering “Voltron?” He also doesn’t seem to get a majority of Lance’s gestures either. Like when they went to go save Shay on Balmera. They had encountered a couple Glara soldiers. Lance had gestured to him the plan he had come up with, but Keith stared at him blankly before he looked for his own way to drop in and surprise the soldiers. Now this isn’t to say that he doesn’t know how to have fun, because that’s quite the opposite. He’s shown numerous of times laughing and having fun with each team member. It’s just that there are a few things that seem to go over his head.

Keith manages to get along with the team very well. He admires Shiro a lot and looks up to the other. After all he was one of the ones who discovered his whereabouts when he came back to Earth and helped create the distraction to help break him out of the makeshift hospital the Garrison held him in. Shiro was also the one to instill that patience is a virtue, and that if he were to rush through things it would do him no good. His relationship with Pidge and Hunk are very neutral too. With Pidge he helps her throw the food goo during their team bonding. And with Hunk he seems to be more relaxed around the other, in fact, his first instance of laughing with the others is with Hunk. The one he seems to have rough patches with seem to be Lance. They bicker constantly and seem to push one another. But it all seems to be in good fun as they manage to have a couple of “bonding moments” here and there. Their relationship is more like a friendly rivalry at most. He enjoys egging the other on, but he doesn’t mean any harm or foul by it either. They did have a rough start at first, Keith criticizing Lance’s piloting. But they do, indeed work really well together. They bounce off of one another with quick, teasing retorts. And despite the front he puts up, he does care for the other’s well being as he was present and insistent on wanting to know when the other would get out of the healing pod during the attack on the space castle in Arus.

Victory Road Sample: Keith awoke with a start as he rolled off of the surface (bed) he was laying on and directly on to… his face. He groaned as he touched his head tenderly before finally coming to his senses. Oh quiznack, where was he?! The last thing that he vividly remembers was that he was in the space castle with the others, Allura had opened a warp hole so that they’d be able to escape from Zarkon and the Galaran forces that were chasing after them— and. And, something was compromised inside the warp hole. Whatever happened, caused each and everyone of them to be sent off in different directions. He definitely recalled being sort of close to Shiro and the Black lion, but anything after that was fuzzy.

Keith inhales sharply as he jerks his head up. He makes a move to stand, but ends up stumbling over his own too feet as the movement was too quick for his body to process in that short amount of time. But it didn’t matter to Keith. The only important thing that mattered was finding out where Red was and if Shiro was okay. If his assumptions were correct, then he and Shiro ended up crash landing on the same planet together. It made sense since they were right next to each other in their lions before everyone got sent in different directions. But what didn’t make sense was the fact that Shiro was no where to be seen.

He does a quick surveillance of his surroundings and quickly discovers that he’s in… some sort of room? His thoughts led him being stuck in an interrogation room, since this doesn’t even begin to remotely resemble a cell— but that led him to wondering why would they leave him alone? No one would just throw a paladin in a room and just… leave him unguarded. Well whatever, their loss. And with that Keith leaves the room to roam around the rest of the building he was in. As he did this he started to believe that someone found him, because it looked too peaceful to belong to someone who sided with the Galaran empire.

Now if only he could find the person who found him— then he could get some answers out of them and see where Shiro and Red would be. Keith ran a hand through his hair as he glanced around, maybe he could… wait a few minutes to see if whoever lives here is just… out and about running a few errands? He lets out a sigh as he leans against the countertop. Yeah a few minutes should be fine. But then a few minutes turned into what felt like two hours and the person still hadn’t shown up.

“Okay, this is ridiculous, I have a team I need to relocate.” Keith muttered to himself as he hastily ran around the house grabbing at things he’d need for his travels. If he wasn’t going to get answers out of the person who lived here then he was going to go find someone who could give him answers. He at least left them a decent, yet hastily written note thanking whoever it was for finding him and making a burger for him. Or at least he assumed it was for him since it was left on the kitchen counter. He makes a quick look around to see if there was anything else he’d feel he’d need to bring with him, and with that, he sets off on his journey.

”…Welcome to the world of Pokémon!”

Keith blinks as he looks around to find the speaker. Okay, so he’s on planet Pokémon, cool. Good to know.
