Personality:

At first impressions, Madoka Kaname comes off as a very normal girl. She's cheerful, tries hard, doesn't excel particularly at anything, and has her cozy social circle. There is nothing particularly special about this shy but kind middle schooler at first glance... and honestly? That's an opinion that Madoka shares. She doesn't see herself as having any special talents. To Madoka, the charm of being a magical girl was going to be giving her life meaning. Yet Madoka Kaname is an extraordinary girl in many ways, even more so after inevitably contracting and becoming a magical girl.

One thing about Madoka that really stands out is her decision making process. Madoka is a shy person and not very assertive on her own. She typically doesn't feel like she can make decisions on her own. During the entire anime, Madoka is constantly asking others for advice. She asks Sayaka, Mami, Homura, her mother, her father, Kyoko... Madoka is slow to make choices, because she puts a lot of weight in them. She may be a cutie, but she's calculating in the sense that she really takes the time to chew her choices.
The only Madoka doesn't stew in her choices is when there is an immediate threat: She stops a group suicide because she has no choice, and she shoots Mami because she felt she had no choice. This kind of decision making does leave Madoka drowning in her insecurities after the fact. In both of these cases, Madoka fell apart after taking impulsive action.

Magical girl Madoka makes decisions slightly faster, but only slightly. Being a magical girl gives Madoka the well-needed confidence boost to assert herself more. As this is an app for a magical girl Madoka, it's important to note that her magic and role as a 'protector' gave value to Madoka's life. When she isn't working hard, Madoka may backtrack slightly on the confidence she doesn't feel she deserves.

Another exceptional trait about Madoka is her kindness. Madoka's core goal is always to help people and be worth the space she takes. Kindness is what causes her to wish a cat back to life, what almost drives her to wish for cake, and what ultimately informs her wish to become "Ultimate Madoka." She is someone who is happiest when those around her are happy.
Madoka feels happiness can be achieved by togetherness. And admittedly, some of Madoka's ideas of happiness are naive and childish. Her view on the world is honestly informed by the very genre she's from: Madoka likes magical girl stories where friends come together and work as a team. She never works solo and always reaches out to others. Sometimes, even when a normal person would call it quits. Madoka sees Sayaka and Kyoko in a life or death struggle, but she never hates Kyoko. She sees Homura and Mami being cold to each other, but she never stops trying to reach out to Homura. She's stubborn about her pure hearted ideals. In most all social conflicts, Madoka is playing mediator and trying to dissolve the issue peacefully.

This stubborn purity does get Madoka hurt. And Madoka has some impressive capacity to hurt. Even when her series gets very dark and the audience has given up, Madoka is searching for a happy ending. She might cry a lot and she might seem to break down, but Madoka always picks herself back up. She doesn't recognize it about herself in her daily life, but Madoka is a very brave girl. And that bravery is driven by a kind heart that believes and hopes.

It's that brave girl that I am applying for. At this point in Madoka's story, she has a few additional weights. For one, she has contracted with Kyuubey and become "Ultimate Madoka." She is a being almost on par with a goddess. This has given Madoka a lot of calm and confidence. Despite everything Kyuubey did to her friends, Madoka has the matured understanding that Incubators were just acting by their sense of justice. And it's important to note that Madoka doesn't blame them entirely. In fact, it's because she has come to understand how they think that Madoka is so calm and confident now: She knows her wish will be granted fully, without any delay, to the fullest capacity of her soul and the Incubator's ability to awaken it.

This Madoka carries an additional weight of having lost her human existence. She has no regrets with her wish and knows she will see everyone she loves eventually, but that doesn't mean she is happy to have lost her humanity. She misses her friends and family, for example, and it is implied that she keeps watch over them (Ex.: Tatsuya drawing Madoka like she's his imaginary friend.) However, Madoka is now comfortable with herself and less critical of her lack of a role. She's likely to be very content and happy in VR and enjoy her chance to be mortal for a while. She has no doubt her wish has been and is being fulfilled, even if a part of her is away from home.

Madoka was a city girl. Her hometown of Mitakihara was a modern delight, but left very little room for nature trails or even very big parks. So the view from atop a hill on the route nearly took her breath away. Though a bit breathless from the hike and ready for a snack, Madoka stood in a moment's awed silence.

"Look at it... It goes on forever, Audino!" She gasped, "So many trees... And they're so tall! Are we really going to have to go through that?"
Next to her, Madoka's new partner made a confirming noise. They did have to go through that forest in order to progress along the route. The confirmation rattled Madoka's awe with an echo of fear.
"Maybe we should go back to town and buy more supplies. I don't think I brought enough food for a bunch of days." She worried quietly, getting cold feet, "And what if we get lost? How do I know if this compass is working?"
Frowning, she added in an embarrassed tone, "And how do I even use a map? It doesn't have gps."

Audino gazed up at her silly trainer quietly. It took Madoka another moment, but she eventually pinched her own cheeks. "No, it'll be fine! I'm a magical girl!"
...
"Was... a magical girl."
Madoka lowered her hands again, sighing. "But... Pokemon Trainer is kind of similar. You're relying on me, and so are the others."
"Aud." Audino stepped closer and gave Madoka's leg a loose hug. At first, at the cost of almost knocking her clumsy trainer over... But Madoka eventually got her balance again.
"Oh. Audinooo." Madoka dropped to her knees to hug her Pokemon back, "You're right... I can rely on you too, huh? Thank youu."
"No~" Her Pokemon chimed. Madoka smiled softly. She had always wanted to be a magical girl team with the others. Even if she didn't regret her wish, Madoka did miss the old fantasy. Maybe she didn't have magical powers here, or magical girls to fight evil with, but she did have a team. One that she supported as much as they supported her. The thought warmed her with confidence.

Giggling, the pink haired trainer gave Audino one last squeeze and then stood up. "So you think we can do it, Audino? You're right, it won't be that long of a walk if we just keep moving... Okay!"

With a hop, Madoka proceeded down the hill. "We got this~! L-Let's go... Team~!"
