Lost Temple: Exploration

Top Section	The three floors closest to the surface. Due to the light streaming in through the porthole like windows that line the walls, this is the brightest, most airy feeling section of the Temple. The hallways here are fairly broad and the curved ceilings tower high above the average person's head. Many large, circular chambers can be found in this section, the sort that might once have been used to receive guests in the Temple. Though time has had its effects on most of the objects decorating the halls and chambers, you can still see this section of the Temple must once have been richly decorated. Middle Section	The middle section consists of seven floors. Though some light still filters in from outside, most of the illumination here comes from strange, glowing crystals that are set at regular intervals along the walls. The hallways here are more narrow and less grand. The same goes for the chambers. You get the idea that this part of the Temple was perhaps more the personal domain of whoever once tended to this Temple. Compared to the first section, there are more hidden areas here, as well as traps preventing unauthorised individuals from accessing what had once been kept in this area of the Temple. Pokemon (lvl 20-60): Corsola, Corsola (Galarian), Gorebyss, Luvdisc, Finneon, Alomomola, Clauncher, Brionne, Wishiwashi, Arrokuda, Tentacool, Lanturn, Marill, Quagsire, Horsea, Marshtomp, Tirtouga, Frillish, Omanyte, Kabutops, Skrelp, Dragonair, Mareanie, Sealeo, Lileep, Anorith, Relicanth Pieces of Slab found: 8/8
Lowest Section	The lowest section of the temple. You can barely go down a single floor before you hit the water. It seems that this part of the temple is partially (or perhaps entirely) submerged in water. Anyone interested in exploring this part of the temple will need to be ready to swim and have a pokemon that knows Dive*. The sunlight from above does not penetrate this deeply in the water, and the light that illuminates the large labyrinthine hallways in this section of the temple comes from strange, bioluminescent corals and water plants that cover the walls. From the way they are grown, it's clear they were purposely coaxed to grow in those area. Additionally, because of the submerged nature of this area of the temple, it seems that whoever designed this area fully took advantage of the fact that the water allows people to move in all directions, and nothing like staircases can be found. As you get lower, the floors get smaller, growing more narrow as you travel down the tail end of the temple. * If your pokemon are incapable of Dive, the Legendary Seekers will recommend a trip to the Marine Research Institute on Sevii Island Four, where a Move Tutor for this move is available. What better way for a family to bond than to explore a long lost temple!

In any case, after a long and twisting 'path' through the underwater tunnels, Steve, Steven and Thace will eventually be able to surface into a dry chamber. The room is neither large nor small, but there is admittedly a rather cramped feeling to it coming from the huge furnace that takes up most of the room. The furnace itself has been hewn to roughly resemble the pokemon Heatran and many stone pipes seem to run from the furnace to the ceiling and higher into the temple. Additionally, there is a separate set of stone pipes that runs from the furnace to the water.

There are no texts or artefacts to explain the purpose of this room, but in a way, it resembles the engine room of an old steamship; a place of heat and fire, the domain of the stokers that will work tirelessly to supply those above with heat and power for little acknowledgement.

Someone had to work hard to supply to people in above with hot water and heat, and it seems like Steve, Steven and Thace have found the domain of the people who did just that.

Unfortunately, there is little to be found in terms of treasure in this room, safe for a few old coins squirreled away in crevices of the giant furnace. They will, however, find a narrow stone staircase that leads them up to the second level of the temple, so they won't need to travel the long way back through the water.

It is a good thing Louie found that map because you have the distinct impression that you would've never been able to find and follow this path without it. The road they travel twists and turns, through hidden doors and narrow alcoves. There are traps too, though thankfully the majority seem to be marked on the map itself.

Heck, even with the map, it's a close call here and there in terms of getting lost.

Eventually, they get to a dead end. The trail on the map ends here, though whether that means this is the location or that the map maker just stopped marking out the path is anyone's guess.

It takes a good investigation, but eventually, a mechanism (guarded by another trap, this one unmarked on the map) can be discovered. The mechanism actually shifts the whole end of the room they are in, stone grinding as the section they are in shifts sideways and suddenly the dead-end wall they were staring at before is no more. Instead, they are left staring at a large, brass door, with a complex looking brass lock on the front.

Unfortunately, despite everyone's best attempts, there is no way to get through the door. The lock is too complex to pick and the doors are too sturdy to breakthrough. Clearly, your only recourse is to find the key. Unfortunately, that definitely isn't hidden underneath a mat outside the door or anything convenient like that.

Perhaps you should check to see if anyone else has found a brass key in the temple.

Though, at least your trip here wasn't completely without reward? During the trip, the group managed to pick up Two big pearls, five Nuggets, A Shiny Stone, and An Iron ball. Feel free to divide those as you see fit.

As they explore, Chip and Legosi find, what can only be, the home of some ancient, long passed acolyte or follower of the temple.

The set of rooms is actually quite quaint for what is essentially an apartment in a weird, underwater temple. There is a room that most likely served as a living room, connected to a small bathroom and bedroom. Most of the furniture has been destroyed, only the sturdiest pieces still somewhat remaining. They can still see the decorations on the walls, though; cheery lines of aquatic pokemon above simple geometric patterns.

Treasures:

Searching through what remains of a cupboard in the living room, Chip will discover what seems to be a very old board game. Set on small legs, the surface of the board is covered with holes and some markings, and inside a little drawer, there are ten pins -- five topped with the head of Lucario and five topped with the head of Houndoom. A lot of detail has been put into the rendition of the pokemon heads.

Should Chip care to look it up, they'll be able to find more information on this ancient game under the name Houndooms and Lucarios.

And while Chip is discovering their game, Legosi manages to find a dusty little Sea incense.

Hidden behind a false wall, Hermione and Yuuri find a hidden staircase. Unlike the public staircases that take people from one level to the next, this staircase is far from grand. It is a bit rickety and badly lit, steeply going down into a dark room at the bottom of it.

Should they dare to follow the staircase (hopefully they have some source of light with them!) into a small, dark room. In the middle of the room stands a desk and at that desk sits a man. Or, well, what is left of a man, which after the passing of centuries is not much at all. A small, empty vial lies on the table.

Clutched in the skeleton's hand, Hermione and Yuuri will find a small book -- a private diary of sorts. Or, perhaps better said, a last will and testament. Much of the writing inside has faded with the passage of time, but with some difficulty and a lot of effort, small parts of the diary can be translated.

They'll be able to learn that

- This man was once a caretaker of the temple.
- That it was his task to hide the parts of the inscription locks away [ineligible]'s sanctuary when the [more ineligible writing].
- That eight parts were hidden on the top level; eight parts were hidden on the middle level; and nine parts were hidden on the bottom level.
- That he made sure that the secret of where the pieces were hidden died with him.

In addition, if they aren't too freaked out to check the rest of the room, Hermione will find a small, rather odd box. It turns out to be an ancient puzzle box. After working her way through several layers of puzzles, inside she will find some desiccated berries. But hey, she got a cool puzzle box! And who knows, perhaps she can find something more valuable to put inside than berries.

As Armin, Jean, Sasha, and Angel descend through the temple, one of them sets their hand on a glazed tile on one of the walls. The tile sinks in, and a nearby wall slowly folds to reveal a small chamber. The walls are overgrown with seaweed and Binacles, some of which don't seem particularly pleased at the disturbance. However, they stay out of the way so long as the group doesn't decide to wander within a foot of them.

Upon further inspection, it seems as though this room is an ancient walk-in closet. Most of the clothes seem to have worn away with the tide, but there are a few things left....

Treasures:

Searching near what looks to be a rusty armoire, Armin opens a drawer to reveal a hand mirror made of mother-of-pearl. It unclasps to reveal a silvery surface almost like the surface of the water. With a little vinegar and elbow grease, you could make this look like new.

Jean digs out a small box made from driftwood from under a pile of rags. On the surface of the box is stylized depiction of Lugia, lovingly carved in a circular silhouette. Opening the box reveals what looks to be an ancient, waterlogged makeup kit.

Despite the mostly destroyed contents of the closet, Sasha manages to find what looks to be a sturdy bag woven out of dried kelp. It has a small seashell as a clasp, and seems to be intended to be worn around the waist. It totally isn't just a weird fanny pack. Surely not.

Finally, Angel finds a fine sea grass-woven scarf. The scarf is still incredibly soft to the touch, rivaling even a Mareep's fur quality. It is dyed a deep purple, and on one end there is embroidery that depicts a strange pattern similar to Manaphy's eyes.

What a team, huh? As the intrepid group sets out and scours the temple, eventually, they'll ascend a small flight of stairs to find what looks to be an large infirmary. Woven cots and shelves carved from limestone line the walls, with a majority of the fabric-based materials completely broken down. Despite its age (and the fact it was underwater just a few weeks ago), everything seems bizarrely clean. There's a lot here!

Treasures:

Buried under one of the broken cots, Leonardo Da Vinci will find a waterlogged set of medical notes on Pokémon (and human) physiology. There are several detailed diagrams sketched out in full page spreads, which would rightly be framed on any discerning individual's wall. Most of the medical knowledge written is highly outdated and erroneous, but it's a neat little bit of history.

While searching the shelves, Jaskier finds a glass bottle filled with a golden liquid. The bottle is sealed with a cork. A peeling label can be seen on the bottle, written in Unown, calling this a "headache potion". It's difficult to see if this is a potion for headaches or a potion that causes headaches. Only one way to find out!

Millenial Tree Cookie also finds another potion while Jaskier is searching. This one is a large, rectangular bottle. It seems to be half-filled, and the liquid inside is an almost fluorescent green. This one doesn't have a label at all, but uncorking it and smelling it reveals that it has a sour and sweet scent that seems to wake you up slightly.

Ford finds a rolled up piece of leather which has been tied with a string made of sea grass. Unfurling the leather will reveal several medical tools tucked away, like a smaller, more compact medicine bag. Included are what look to be a rusty scalpel, a tongue depressor, and a reflex checker with a rubber head. You could probably reuse this to hold a wide variety of tools, not just medical equipment. A few words have been embroidered in Unown script inside the leather--"If Found, Return to Doctor Puanani".

Finally, on one of the cots, Shiro finds a worn and weathered Qwilfish plush. The fabric is still soft and pliable to the touch, and it's perfectly, pleasingly round. The tail is almost completely detached from the body, but someone seems to have patched it up with a bandage. Whoever owned this plush must have loved it quite a lot.

The "headache potion" is what the label states it to be. It can actually either be used to cure headaches OR cause them--though, it seems that whatever actual effect is subjective based on the individual's own immune system. So, really, it's a flip of a coin and up to you what you'll want to experience.

The green potion seems to be a potion of rejuvenation--one sip, and you'll have energy for days!

...So, basically, it's a Monster energy drink.

Dimitri, Felix and Claude may have heard rumours and tales going around of the things people have found and encountered in the depths -- from a massive, telepathic relicanth to groups of playful young pokemon.

Unfortunately for them, that's not who they are going to encounter.

Instead, deep inside the temple, they find a massive room that is incredibly bright. It looks like someone (something?) went and collected bioluminescent plants and algae and spread them liberally over the walls, creating a lair that glows like a beacon. And in the middle of that room sits a Kingler. A massive, massive shiny Kingler.

Not just shiny in nature, but also shiny because this pokemon has decorated its shell liberally with all manner of bright and reflective things.

It also brightens at the appearance of the three men, but that is mostly because it is very hungry and they look very delicious.

If they manage not to die (and really, it would be very embarrassing to die because of a crab no matter how big), they will find





among the creature's treasure.


Treasures:

While battling the Kingler, Dimitri manages to sweep a handful of objects off the creature's shell. When examined later, he'll see he managed to grab four (4) gold nuggets, two (2) pearls, various chips of seaglass and heart scales and one (1) golden eyeball. The prosthetic kind, mind you. There is a small skull and crossbones carved into the front, and you can imagine a pirate wearing this in days of yore.

In addition, Felix manages to grab what appears to be a set of daggers at first, but on further inspection turns out to be just a set of knives, too dull to do any cutting with. The knives themselves do look rather fancy though, the sort you can imagine being used at fancy well-do feasts. Most intriguingly musical scores have been engraved in the blades of the knives, which, all put together, seem to form one complete (though obviously rather short) song.

In addition, Claude manages to grab a necklace off the Kingler's back. A locket hangs from the necklace. When opened, there is no portrait or picture inside, however. Instead, a small likeness of the temple has been carved from pearl and placed inside the silver locket.

In addition to all of this, they also grab several evolutionary stones (feel free to determine the types yourself)

........So can the massive kingler be caught-

We will go ahead and say it can be caught but realistically, if you do catch it, each time it is let out of its Pokeball, it will try and eat you. It is too old and strong to be broken of this behaviour.

Sometimes you find secret rooms through painstaking investigation. Sometimes you find them because someone trips, tries to catch themselves on a small shelf and a section of wall just suddenly drops.

Behind the wall is a narrow hallway, so narrow that they are forced to walk single file (and possibly some of the group may need to go sideways rather than straight) but eventually it leads to a small dark room.

This temple has been long abandoned, but somehow the room manages to feel even more abandoned than the temple as a whole. As if even when the temple was still thriving, this room had already been hidden away from view and forgotten.

The room is filled with very little. There is a rough, stone altar against the back wall and on it sits a single Helix fossil, elevated on a small platform. The remains of candles sit on either side of the fossil.

Treasures:

First of all, each member of the team is going to find one (1) Helix fossil. In addition, Dimitri will find a Jaw Fossil. Dedue will find a shield fossil and Ashe will find a Sail fossil.

In addition, Dedue will find a sheathed knife. The blade, unfortunately, has broken and is beyond repair, but the handle curves and spirals in a rather incredible manner. It's easy to see that this was not a knife meant for fighting or preparing food, but instead something cerimonial.

(seriously, it must have been either ceremonial or decorative cause it is a pain in the rear to hold)

In addition, Ashe will find a painted slab of rock. Hieroglyphs on the rock depict a massive omanyte, as well as a world torn asunder, pokemon drowning in the waters. Has it come to save us or is it the cause of the destruction? It is impossible to tell.

We can only hope it is not a prophecy. Or, if it is, that it will look kindly upon us in our hour of need.

But seriously, 80% sure, it is not a prophecy.

After a long wandering without running into anything too interesting

(in so far as things inside a lost underwater temple can ever be uninteresting)

Felix, Claude and Annette will rather abruptly stumble into a large room dominated by an equally large pool at the centre. The room itself is rather stunning, with pale white floors and walls, and a ceiling painted to resemble the night's sky (constellations included). The paintings on the walls are more faded, but seem to depict temple attendants caring for pokemon eggs and young pokemon. It seems this room may once have been a nursery of sorts.

And it is still being used as a nursery today.

A large Dragonair can be found inside of the pool, her long body curled protectively around a small gaggle of Dratini. It's clear this poor mother dragon is utterly surprised by the sudden appearance of visitors, and it'll be best to thread wisely. They tell you never to get between a Ursaring and her cub, and from the way this Dragonair has gone stiff and still, the same thing goes for Dragonair and their brood.


Treasures:

Assuming they avoid death by Mother Dragonair, Annette will find a lovely, silver bracelet in the room. It's of the sort meant to be worn around one's upper arm and it has been styled to resemble a graceful Milotic, coiling in loops around the wearer's arm.

There is also a good number of Heart scales that can be found in the room. It'll take a while to find them all, but those should net the three of them a nice little bit of money if they choose to sell them.

Additionally, should they really manage to impress the mother Dragonair, she just might allow one of her curious youngsters to go along with these strange humans. The Dratini are only level 5, but each of them knows the egg moves Mist and Haze.

You know how sometimes you visit a lost, underwater temple and immediately get robbed by Mareanie? Because that is what will be happening to Jinx and Razor.

One moment they are exploring one of the rooms, the next, a group of Mareanie actually manage to drop down from the ceiling (how) and grab everything they can before dashing off.

Should Jinx and Razor choose to chase after them (and why wouldn't they, those pokemon have their stuff!!) they will be led on a long chase through a maze of winding and twisting passages, needing to duck the occasional trap here and there.

The Mareanie will eventually duck into a dead-end corridor to hide behind their Toxapex boss. Looks like it is time to d-d-d- pokemon battle.

Treasures:

If Razor and Jinx manage to beat the boss Toxapex, they will not only be able to get their own stuff back but in addition

Jinx will find a small, round object that, at first glance, looks like a pocket watch or compass. But when flipped open, it actually turns out to be a silver music box that plays a slightly haunting slow tune. There is a small knob on the side to rewind it, and on the inside, a mermaid has been engraved on the faceplate, sitting on a rock.

Razor will find a ring, made of some type of black metal. The ring is made to look like an ekans coiled around the wearer's finger. Should he decide to further research this ring, it'll turn out to be an ancient ring which thought to bring good fortune and protection to the wearer.
