First, let us give you a broad explanation of the Special Mission system.
Special Missions can broadly be divided into four different sub-types: Retrieval, Battle, Observation, and Other.
Retrieval missions are the most straight forward, in that they involve the retrieval of a part of Cara Liss' machine. You'll be given an area where a part has been spotted (often with a special challenge), as well as requirements the Guild has for the mission (number of people, certain types of pokemon). In order to claim the reward for these missions, you'll need to provide us either with a log related to the mission (and this can be any facet, such as planning, the actual mission, the aftermath) or you may provide us with a written out strategy for how your characters went about their work.
Battle missions are also pretty straight forward in that they involve battling Alpha pokemon. These buggers sometimes turn into a real hassle, and the Guild wants you to handle them! Mind you, this does not involve catching the pokemon, but just defeating them so they'll chill out. You'll be given an area in which a particular Alpha pokemon is causing a fuss, as well as requirements the guild has for the mission (number of people involved, level of your pokemon). In order to claim the reward for these missions, you'll need to provide us either with a log related to the mission (and this can be any facet, such as planning, the actual mission, the aftermath) or you may provide us with a written out strategy for how your characters went about their work.
Observation missions involve, well, observing things. Pokemon to be exact. As we all know, people in the Hisui region do not yet live with pokemon as people do in the future. Much about pokemon is still unknown. The Gingko Guild is working with a local professor to understand pokemon better. And that's where you come in! For these missions, you are given a certain species of pokemon to observe. In order to claim need to provide us either with a log related to the observation or you may provide us with a short paragraph of the sort of things your character observed.
Other missions is where we will dump everything else. We'll probably not use this category very much, but as the month progresses, we might think up of a thing or two that doesn't fit in the other missions type. The requirements for these missions may be more unique, so read them over carefully. We'll also let you know exactly how you can claim these rewards.
What we'll try to do is to keep adding new special missions as the month progresses. As long as a mission is on the board, you can respond to it, but please, do not start playing anything out until we've approved you for the mission. In order to give as many different people a chance to play with this part of the plot, we won't just be giving missions to the first person who responds. We'll take into account how fitting people are for that particular mission and how many other missions they've already completed. If you and your group are passed over for a particular mission, that is not because you did something wrong, but more that we want to give everybody a chance to participate. Similarly, if you've been passed over once, you can absolutely respond to other missions, and it certainly won't be the case that you'll only be able to do one mission, especially if you are involving other people in your various missions.
In order to put your name in the hat, so to speak, for a particular mission, respond to the relevant top level (each mission will have an individual top level, which will be frozen once the mission is complete) and wait for a response. These missions will require involvement of several players (apart from the observation missions, which can mostly be solo-ed) so figure out who you are all involving before responding please!
If there are any other questions about this, please take them to the FAQ, so we can keep this page dedicated solely to mission claims.
