Badge/Gym Leader: Katy's Bug Badge Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM Team:Here; Slinky the Silicobra (Slide 25), and Lindwyrm the Runerigus (Slide 13) Battle Details: It's time for the final stretch of badges, and (in a backdated challenge) the first of the pair is just a walk away from Mesagoza. It's time to face Katy, and having faced each badge with his typical contrary style she's going to be no different. So, after first enjoying a few of her baked goods, it's time to start the battle!
With only so many pokemon left to form some sort of theme though, Emporio decides he's going to test out his new Silicobra's 'Sand Spit' ability; to that end, Slinky is first to the field, creating a theme that only he...and maybe any outworlder will know. ...Things that normally, uh, eat bugs. Or at least snakes!
It's fine this is fine.
Handily, Ground is resisted by Bug type, but Ground pokemon themselves aren't weak to it. So Slinky- handily bringing up a sandstorm the minute one of the pokemon hits him- won't immediately be down for the count as a result. Slinky will be using Minimize to further make it difficult to hit him once the sandstorm is in play, using Glare to paralyze opponents and Wrap- what with Sand Tomb being ground based- to trap them. With Sand Attack further making the serpent impossible to hit, he can take his sweet time seeking the bugs out to Slam against them- or Headbutt- until they succumb to the damage.
This is Slinky's relative strategy against all opponents- to the point where if he makes it to fighting Teddiursa, Emporio will even Terastalize with him (for Ground type of course). But chances are he'll need to bring in the next pokemon of the line up, and first up is Lindwyrm.
As a partial ghost, she has a little more to bring to the table than the other snake; Disable makes fast work of any moves that seem to be problematic, and Protect gets thrown up a good amount when it seems vital. Astonish as well sees liberal use, before they start using Slam just as much as the last pokemon did. Squash that bug.
Terastalized, she becomes entirely Ground Type, which helps against anything that might hit the ghost side harder (and removes the bug resist, whoops), but what really matters is being able to keep slamming, disabling, and astonishing.
With any luck- the two snakes in the grass will get the job done at the bug gym!
Badge/Gym Leader: Tulip's Psychic Badge Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM Team:Here; Pequin the Skeledirge (Slide 21), Ice Fingers (Slide 26), Easter (Slide 6) Battle Details: Last but certainly not least it's time to take on Tulip, with a thematic team that truthfully has little to do with the typing. It can't be helped! He just doesn't have the kind of time he normally would to put that sort of team together after all. So instead, he's going after Tulip's team with a team of less-than-conventional 'Beauty'...
Quite handily the first to the field is Pequin the Skeledirge- who would ordinarily have an advantage and a disadvantage against what's coming. On the one hand, ghost moves are super-effective against Psychic types, even if they themselves don't have any particular resistances. On the other, Farigiraf is normal type as well...
...Also not a lot of Beautiful moves are actually ghost type anyway. Still, locked out of his specialty move, Pequin opens each fight with Will-o-Wisp to get things burning. He follows it with Flamethrower and the occasional Fire Blast...but if things start looking dire, swaps to Overheat for a good 'final run'.
It's a pattern that keeps up until either Pequin comes out victorious- or, he just goes down, in which case the next on the list is that new Beartic of his, Ice Fingers. Ice Moves are also often 'Beautiful', and while his ability no longer suits (Swift Swim Emporio???), that's just fine. The bear comes charging in with Aqua Jet to take advantage of some increased priority, and then uses Icy Wind, burying the opponent in snow as best possible to slow them down. Powder Snow is used more however, given the stronger accuracy, at least until the opponent is well and truly Frozen. Then, Ice Fingers swaps to Blizzard- when it does hit, it'll hit hard.
Naturally a Terastalization with Ice Fingers would be Ice Type, but will the bear make it there? Just in case, Emporio has one last trick up his sleeve- Easter.
The strange egg of a pokemon immediately terastalizes into the Water Type, which is going to be helpful with what follows. Aqua Ring is quickly set up however, a handy restoration move for what's coming, followed by Bubble beam, and its much harder hitting counterpart Hydro Pump. Surf is added in for good measure, and the process repeats until Emporio is through- hopefully with a success!
cries pretend this was handed in like two weeks ago oh god
