Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Character: Yayoi Kise | [personal profile] pikapikajankenpo
Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr/Falkner
Elite/Regular: regular
Team: Pikachu, Ponyta, Cotton Candy
Battle Details: Pikachu is her front-loaded Pokemon, using a combination of speed training for maximum movement, as well as an overwhelming electrical assault. Ponyta is her second string and Cotton her third, with Pikachu relying on fast moves such as Electro Ball, Nasty Plot for self buffage, and good old fashioned Thunderbolt spam with a touch of Magnet Rise for OMFG flying Pikachu. Ponyta is seeking out Fire Spin and Flame Wheel moves, while Cotton if we need, will be Electro Balling, Thunderbolting and Magnet Rise to meet the opponent in the air if need be.

Character: Maurice Hutch | [personal profile] toothaches
Badge/Gym Leader: Falkner for the Zephyr Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Team
Battle Details: Maurice will be focusing mainly on his Rhydon, Luxio, Houndoom, and Nidorino for this battle. His Luxio is a little low-leveled for this gym so he has the Houndoom with her crazy egg moves to take off the pressure in case he needs to be healed up.
schachmeister: (pic#11505766)

[personal profile] schachmeister 2017-06-18 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Armin Arlert | [personal profile] schachmeister
Badge/Gym Leader: Cerulean gym / Cascade badge / Misty
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Holly the Vileplume (lvl 100); Xander the Sawsbuck (lvl 65)
Battle Details:

For this gym, Armin set himself a small challenge, which is whether or not he can win with only one pokemon.

Armin will be bringing Holly the Vileplume. At level 100 and as a grass/poison type, he knows she resists water attacks and is super effective against water pokemon. Additionally, she had the ability Effect Spore which means that any direct hit will have the chance of paralysing / poisoning / putting her opponents to sleep.

Holly will also be holding a persim berry (to cure confusion)

First up is Misty’s golduck. Armin is aware that Golduck has two psychic moves which Holly is weak to, so for once his strategy is to hit hard and quick. He’ll have Holly start off using petal blizzard. He’ll follow it up with giga drain to replenish any lost HP from Golduck’s attacks. He’ll hold this pattern until Golduck is defeated. With Holly at level 100 vs Golduck’s lvl 35, he suspects it will not take long.

Second up is Misty’s Lapras. Again, Holly has the advantage of against water, but Lapras also is an ice type which she is weak to. Again, Armin will be opting for a quick hitting strategy so Lapras cannot exploit Holly’s weaknesses too much. This time, he’ll open the fight with petal dance, being that it is Holly’s hardest hitting grass type move. This is also why he gave her a persim berry to hold so she can cure herself of the inevitable confusion afterwards. After this move, Holly will switch again to using giga drain to both drain Lapras’ health and boost her own.

Third is Misty’s Starmie. While Starmie is a psychic pokemon which Holly is weak to, Starmie also shouldn’t have psychic attacks yet at lvl 40 for him to worry about. Depending on Holly’s health, Armin will use his first turn to heal her (if it is low), else he’ll have her immediately launch back into petal blizzard. And follow it up with giga drain. If Holly exhausts that move, he’ll switch down to moving mega drain. Same idea, less heal! If things look really dire, he’ll have Holly use petal dance again, and resign himself to losing a turn curing her of her confusion after (though he’d sort of hope Starmie would be down after it)

(Of course, Armin isn’t a cruel dude. He’s not gonna push Holly beyond what she can take. He’ll be bringing his Sawsbuck Xander with him as backup, and will switch him in if things look dire. He’s just also a little perfectionist and wonders if it is possible to take down a gym with just one pokemon. If he has to rely on Xander, he’ll have the sawsbuck using energy ball and horn leech to inflict damage and heal. Plus maybe throw in a leech seed for even more heal.)

(Ps. If Armin ends up victorious, would you mind telling me if he did it with one pokemon or two? Just for Armin’s nerd records journal)

Character: Eren Jaeger | [personal profile] greatrage
Badge/Gym Leader: Cascade Badge | Misty
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Team!
Battle Details: For once, Eren doesn't actually have a slam dunk against Misty -- he has no pokémon (that will actually fight) that have an elemental advantage. However, he has his overleveled pokemon who can inflict neutral damage, so that's good enough for him. He brings Skarmory, Noivern, and Scizor!

Character: Manaka Sajyou | [personal profile] beastofasister
Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy | Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Konpeito, Cannoli, Cherries Jubilee, Snickerdoodle, Mochi, Charlotte
Battle Details: For once, Manaka will be leading with a Pokémon that's... kind of underleveled! She'll have Konpeito boost its stats with Defense Curl and Autotomize first, and then rely on its double type advantage to do damage against Bugsy's team. She'll push Konpeito as far as she can, past the point where its Shields Down ability activates, and when it reaches the point where it'll be knocked out regardless, she'll order it to use Self-Destruct.

Once Konpeito is down, Cannoli will be sent out to clean up whatever is left of Bugsy's team with fire-type attacks. If he can't pull that off for whatever reason, the rest of Manaka's team will be there to provide back up, but she doesn't foresee Bugsy making it past Jubilee.

Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team:
Chocochick (lv. 97)
Shepard (lv. 99)
Glaive (lv. 34)

Battle Details:
Yeah so..Noct really isn't expecting problems. Chocochick and Shepard should be able to easily take out the Pinsir and Heracross leaving Glaive to deal with the Scizor and it's weakness to fire. If Glaive does have any issues because of the difference in levels, the other two will be there to back him up.

Character: Thida | [personal profile] agent3
Badge/Gym Leader: Morty for the Fog Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular Team!
Team: Maika (lv 100), Judd (lv 100), Buru (lv 100), Banba (lv 100), Majo (lv 28), and Oku (lv 23).
Battle Details: Thida will be relying mostly on her 4 lv 100's and their level advantage in this battle, since Majo and Oku are only about half as leveled as Morty's regular team - that, and the Ghost/Poison dual typing of his Haunter and Gengar have an advantage over her Psychic/Dark Malamar and Fairy Granbull.

For the Haunter she's going to try and make the battle as quick as possible and hit it with Maika's Dark type attacks like Night Slash and Payback, maybe some Psychic attacks as well to hit that Poison typing. For the Misdreavus she'll be relying on Judd and his Bite and Crunch attacks, as well as his array of Electric moves and stat boosters to get the upper hand. When it comes to Gengar, she'll be pinning most of her hopes on Banba and her Dragon and Flying might, switching back to Judd if he still has strength and only resorting to Maika and Buru if absolutely necessary.

Character: Noctis Caelum | [personal profile] thenightsky
Badge/Gym Leader: Mineral Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team:
Bean (lv. 100)
Pride (lv. 77)
Shepard (lv. 100)

Battle Details:
The Skarmory is going to be the easiest one of the deal with. Pride is going to lead on this one, taking advantage of the Skarmory's electricity weakness. Discharge and Spark will be used in an attempt to not only take down HP but also cause paralysis to slow the metal bird up. Thunder Fang and Hyper Beam will be the finishing moves, since Pride should be able to handle this one on his own.

For the Steelix and Magneton, Noctis is going to rely heavily on Bean to power her way through them. Magneton is going to get hit with a full on assault of Giga Impact (to keep it from going twice in a row) followed by High Horsepower. If that doesn't finish it off, she'll take it down with Bulldoze. Steelix is going to face the same sort of assault, though Noctis will be switching Bean out for Shepard long enough to smack Steelix with some Sand Attacks and a Scary Face. Once those have been played, Bean will be brought back out to finish the Steelix off with the same sort of ground heavy assault that the Magneton got--High Horsepower and Bulldoze.

Badge/Gym Leader: Hive Badge, Bugsy
Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team: http://badluckbabe.dreamwidth.org/29138.html?view=690898&posted=1#cmt690898
Battle Details: Jinx was pressured into trying this Gym battle thing by Diana when she found out a badge would get her discounts on food. While Jinx is an OK battler on the whole she does have a slight advantage against this gym because of her higher leveled Murkrow and an under leveled Torracat and Litten.

She'll start out with Litten to soften up the first Pokemon bugsy pulls. Then jump to Torracat who will be thrilled at the prospect of showing up the Litten she has a rival with. Then when she's finally had enough it'll be up the the Murkkrow to bring it home.

A victory over Bugsy due to type advantage may not be the most hard fought battle...but it'll make Jinx feel accomplished considering she's just spinning her wheels for Team Rocket. While she'll start out kind of pase' about the battle, by the second pokemon she'll be really into it, complete with "evil" laughter when she wins.

Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy for the Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Sass Strut Sammy
Battle Details: Diana will be leading with Sammy, he's a little under leveled for this so he probably won't last long but he should do a decent dent in whatever Pokemon Bugsy decides to send out first.
Then it's up to Sass, who's more than prepared for this. It's her first gym battle but that makes her all the more excited and ready to prove herself.
Strut is mostly here for insurance if Sass can't handle the rest of the team.
Diana's not the most experienced battler but she's brought along her two starters who both have a type advantage and are loyal to a T so hopefully that'll help her.

Badge/Gym Leader: Falkner for the Zephyr Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Merry [L29 Zorua], Floe [L44 Alolan Vulpix], Lily [L36 Blissey], Sly [L61 Alolan Meowth], Bean [L36 Chikorita]
Battle Details: This scrub is doing his best to get good. Merry will come in first, disguised as Bean. Anders will be expecting Falkner to take advantage of an apparent grass type and use a Flying move, which would not be super-effective against Merry, but at least throw Falkner and his Pokemon off a little. On that same turn, Merry will U-turn out (again, not very effective against Noctowl, but hopefully still jarring) onto Floe. Floe is here to bring the pain. Anders will focus on some of her weaker Ice moves with 100% accuracy rather than stronger moves with lower accuracy. She'll throw up Safeguards as need be to protect the team, and if Falkner heals his Pokemon at any time, she also has Payback to get that damage back. For Honchkrow, Anders brought a very special Blissey, who will spam Dazzling Gleam, and use Soft-Boiled as necessary since she's around the same level and may take a few good hits. Floe will come back out to face Pidgeot, using the same strategy as with Noctowl. If a couple potions don't help her out and she seems to be in a lot of trouble, Anders will switch her out with Sly, who is not super effective but he hopes is overleveled enough to be able to finish Pidgeot off with some of his stronger moves like Dark Pulse and Night Slash. If all that fails, Anders will forfeit rather than actually bring Bean out.

Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy

Team: Can be found here! -- Primarily, Bailey (lv 80), Skagbait (Lv 100) and Mari (lv 99)
Battle Details: After extensive research, Angel has decided to put Bailey in the point position for this fight, due to her type advantage. Any help needed will actively be provided by Skagbait (the Lucario, not a Riolu like the roster sprite would indicate...), as necessary. Revelation Dance will be relied on heavily, bringing the fiery pain.

Bailey has something to prove -- she'll be fighting extra hard to impress her boyfriend, Amadeus, in the crowd.
