Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Character: Carly Nagisa | [personal profile] insidescoop
Badge/Gym Leader: Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: SHE'S ALL IN ON SALAZZLE BABEY
Battle Details: Thanks to an untimely delay in her travels, Carly's gotten more training done than planned- as such, she's challenging two gyms in a row, warping between!

Once again forcing a pissy Mimikyu to the bench, Carly starts this fight with Misty the Salazzle; her fire typing gives a strong weakness against all of Bugsy's pokemon, and her poison typing an extra edge for Heracross- while Scizor has to deal with a doubled weakness to that initial flame. Misty will be going in simply and strategically nonetheless however- a bit of Toxic never hurt before laying down the pain with a Flamethrower.

Whitney is another story.

Badge/Gym Leader: Plain Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: HERE- Mimikyu, Salazzle, Golurk
Battle Details: Carly's kinda scared of Whitney. She has a miltank- and miltank are pretty tough. But while she lacks a type advantage overall, she Does have a level advantage...

And oh? What's that? Most of Whitney's team aren't 100% Normal Type? Well then.

This time the ghosts get to play. Being the strongest for it, Carly leads with Mimi-chan- and BOY is he raring to go! Moves that are ghost type might be prone to passing through, but Mimi-chan has one good Dark Move in his arsenal to use here, and use it he shall. Combined with Hone Claws, Feint Attack is going to hurt Girafarig a Lot.

When Whitney's clefable comes out however it'll be Misty's turn again- spitting piping hot poison in the form of toxic and Venoshock.

From there it's just that Miltank- for which Carly intends to bargain. The Ghost Ground Golurk, punching with deadly force and a Dynamic Punch, against that Miltank's rollout..!

Fingers are Crossed.

Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Roster
Battle Details: Dirk is just leading with COS the Machoke for damage, because she is EXTREMELY enthusiastic and also the obvious type matchup for this fight. She also has Substitute, Rest, and Sleep Talk... and the ability GUTS, to boost her attacks while she's sleep-fighting. The less obvious choice is Jiraiya the Greninja, but he has Role Play and Spikes, as well as Protect, Double Team, Mat Block, and Bounce, all of which are designed to throw off an opponent's strategy or rotation. Plus, Dark is going to be useful against Girafarig, if not necessarily Clefable. As always, Acorn the Rapidash is here to clean up whatever needs mopping up. Like... Clefable, with Poison Jab.

Battle Details: Archen will be leading the battle using Ancient Power to get some chip damage on Faulkner's birbs, but will eventually be switched out when defeatist kicks in. At that point, Keith will be using his Houndour to knock out Noctowl and Honchcrow. Though Houndour at least resists Honchcrow's dark type moves, the flying ones still manage to put in enough damage that he has to switch to Skarmory for battling Pidgeot. Skarmory resists PIdgeot's normal and flying moves. Vulpix will be hanging back from the battle but will be used for a speedy flamethrower if there's a need.

Character: Peter Venkman | [personal profile] neverstudied
Badge/Gym Leader: Brock
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Roach (Golisopod) lvl 100, Luca (Wartortle) lvl 100, Kirby (Mimikyu) lvl 100, Tarantula (Alolan Persian) lvl 100, Sigourney (Beheeyem) lvl 100, Nermal (Persian) lvl 100
Battle Details: Matching the team of all level 100 Pokemon with a team of a level 100 Pokemon, Roach and Luca are the only two with clear advantages/disadvantages- Water is good with Rock, Rock is good against Bug, everything else is neutral territory on the onset.

As always, Venkman will start with Attract and Toxic when applicable and Double Team; and Swords Dance/Iron Defense/Calm Mind/similar stat boosting moves if the Pokemon knows it. From there, it's mostly a matter of using a lot of hard-hitting super effective and neutral damaging moves; not much strategy here, mostly a lot of smacking rocks really hard with Water Pulses and Wood Hammers and Surfs and so on and so forth.

Badge/Gym Leader: Misty
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Rue (Sawsbuck) lvl 53, Eva (Zoroark) lvl 36, Gef (Sneasel) lvl 45
Battle Details: Rue is an obvious choice for being a Grass type, though it's worth noting that this is probably his first ever SERIOUS fight- Venkman's put a lot of work into helping this deer build his confidence, and he's avoided pitting him against other trained Pokemon for the most part. Fighting Misty seemed like a great opportunity- Rue's got a big level advantage, there's very little chance of Fire-type moves getting involved, and if he wins it'll be a good confidence booster. Gef and Eva, on the other hand, are just itching to wreck shit and ruin some people's days. Throwing them at a gym will at least (hopefully) make them work off some of their chaotic asshole energy.

Again, Attract/Toxic first when applicable, followed by Double Team, followed by any moves that can boost stats. Rue also has Leech Seed, which he will be using ASAP. From there, it's just a matter of hitting hard with super-effective moves again; Rue with all his Grass-type moves (and maybe some well-placed kicks on the Lapras, Eva with Grass Knot + Dark moves against the Starmie, Gef with Dark movies against Starmie and Metal Claw/Iron Tail/Focus Punch against Lapras.

Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr Badge

Battle Details: James' first attempt at besting the gym ended in failure, but hey, Violet City is the city of trainer school. For the month of September (since the last request was with a backdated roster, for backdating purposes initially), James has been dutifully attending classes and went out to the surrounding routes to train his little buddies. Stanley has evolved into a Staraptor now! Denny the Dedenne also buffed up considerably and is raring to go. Losing despite type advantage hurt her ego after all!

But Dedenne will saving her powers as far as possible, with the goal of going against Pidgeot. The first Pokémon to come out is Staraptor who wants to make the following fight as easy for the rest of his team as possible. Lillipup is on back-up duty. Espurr won't fight unless it's absolutely a last resort.

Character: Dirk Strider | [personal profile] uber_marionettist
Badge/Gym Leader: Glacier/Pryce
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Dirk needs to chill
Battle Details: Unfortunately for Pryce, Ice types are weak to fire. They are also weak to fighting. As a result, Acorn and COS (Rapidash and Machoke) are kind of.... overkill. Dirk has dramatically overshot the levels required for this to be challenging, and while he doesn't feel even a little guilty for how the fight goes, this feels like bad news to him. His third Pokemon of choice is Pulse Train, but like... who cares. This is stupid.

Character: Dirk Strider | [personal profile] uber_marionettist
Badge/Gym Leader: Morty/Fog
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Dirk needs to chill
Battle Details: This is another in-and-out (and possibly one-and-done) gym battle, but he's making an attempt to at least learn something from this one. He's leading with his Solrock, mostly to see how far Cosmic Power stretches its defences, with Heal Block to prevent any Dream Eater recovery. After as much Stone Edge and Psychic output (and damage taken) as YAMMER DRIVEL can stand, he'll tell it to use Explosion and swap to Greninja, with Acorn the Rapidash in reserve in case he needs that for some reason.

Character: Carly Nagisa | [personal profile] insidescoop
Badge/Gym Leader: Fog Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: Here! She's going with Mimi-chan the Mimikyu, and Kyosuke the Golurk
Battle Details: Carly's been putting this off. Not willingly, exactly, she just had... Work related duties.

It's fine she's fine, she's a bit (A Lot) over-leveled, but she's fine. And the best thing is that Mimi-chan the Mimikyu finally gets to fight! How exciting.

Mimi-chan being Ghost type of course is a double-edged sword; Morty's pokemon are just as liable to lay the super-effective stabs on him as he to them. But Mimi-chan has Disguise for one free hit- not to mention a good number of levels over the competition, which Carly may or may not be counting on. With a focus on Shadow Claw, Mimi-chan should be fine-

Especially with help from Kyosuke the Golurk. Ghosts aren't generally known for their high defense- and normally it's the Special Defense that's better for that matter. Shadow Punch might be a lower-power move, but between Kyosuke's attack strength and the defenses of the opponents, he makes for a solid back-up if Mimi-chan bites the dust!

Badge/Gym Leader: Mineral Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: Here! This time, she's only using Misty the Salazzle, and Kyosuke the Golurk.
Battle Details: You know that thing, where you look at a map, and you go 'well this makes sense', and then you realize 'oh no'.

That's what Carly is doing, when she accidentally challenges Olivine instead of Cianwood. Olivine was a teleport away from Ecruteak. It made sense. It should have been the real sixth gym. But apparently, her HM Fly is in another Castle Gym after all.

It works out though, because Carly's still a bit overlevelled, as it turns out. A team of steel types- especially pure ones- mean nothing to Misty the Salazzle. Not only does Misty get those STAB attacks in using her fire type moves, her corrosion ability allows Toxic to lay the poisonous traps in- important, when you're as squishy a lizard as she.

As it is, Misty of course isn't alone; should the salazzle for some reason fall in the fight, Kyosuke the Golurk will be right behind with a combination of fighting and ground moves to put them in their place.

Battle Details: Considering Acorn's right there, Dirk should have this in the bag, but he's back to experimenting--or rather, pushing his weaker Pokemon into the front lines to force them to toughen up. Specifically, Fermat the Carnivine is Dirk's choice against Steelix, and he's pulling out every trick he has. Wring Out, early in the fight. Ingrain, Stockpile, Swallow. Bind. Leaf Tornado. He's really aiming more to push Fermat past simple advantages than anything, and it's the kind of strategy that takes a Long. Fucking. Time. Once he's done with that, he's using SIN first... SIN, who is part Water Type and therefore vulnerable to Magneton, but he really wants to get in some practise to make the most out of Substitute, Role Play, and Protect, and Double Team. And in the end, of course, his fallback is Acorn. No one is shocked.

Fermat is the second choice, and truthfully he's using the Carnivine as... sort of a sweeper after COS has some fun. And... well, then there's Acorn.

Battle Details: This fight may be a bit Unfair for dear Chuck. Carly's pokemon are over levelled.

And they're a strong type match. Mimi-chan the Mimikyu, having only recently been given free reign of the gym battles, is the first one out and unfortunately for all of Chuck's pokemon, Mimi-chan also has some Fairy Type STABS on top of being literally untouchable by any fighting type moves. To make matters worse, Misty the Salazzle also has super effective STAB moves at her disposal in the form of deadly deadly poison- and Joltik?

Well, Fighting Pokemon apparently don't like bugs, which means that even if Mimi-chan and Misty somehow can't cut it, the teensie tiny joltik that is Kushi will be raising a fair amount of trouble with bug moves...not to mention Electric for that Poliwrath.

Ooof!

Team: Here! (Mudkip [lvl 39], Pidgeotto [lvl 33], Growlithe [lvl 38])
Battle Details:

Steve, despite having a couple of Pokémon who should be advantaged, unfortunately doesn't have a solid grasp of typings yet. Luckily for him, they both happen to be in the most levelled half of his team so it hopefully should work out.

First off, Beaky the Pidgeotto will face off against Bugsy's Pinsir. With STAB, even Steve probably realizes Gust is her most powerful move so far. If the level advantage and access to more powerful moves proves too much, then Blaze the Growlithe will come out to play. His fire type moves should make finishing Pinsir off no problem.

Regardless of which of Steve's team finishes Pinsir off, Blaze will be fighting Heracross and should hopefully be able to take it out with 2-3 Flamethrowers.

Buttsnack the Mudkip will be facing off against Scizor. This... seems unlikely to go as Steve planned between Scizor's resistance to Take Down and Rock Throw being his next strongest move. Still, with luck he'll make enough of a dent that Blaze will be able to finish Scizor off when Buttsnack goes down. With that 4x weakness to fire it seems likely that even after already battling he ought to be able to beat him. He'll resort to using a potion to boost Blaze's health if need be because no way are his others strong enough to face a level 40.

Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr Badge (Falkner)
Elite/Regular: Regular!
Team: Here! (Mudkip [lvl 39], Growlithe [lvl 38], Phanpy [lvl 29])
Battle Details:

After taking a day to give his team chance to be healed at the PokéCenter, regardless of the outcome of his fight against Bugsy, Steve will be moving onto an easier challenge.

Ellie the Phanpy will be starting out against Noctowl, using Rollout to take it out. If it does manage to beat her, then Blaze the Growlithe ought to be able to beat it purely through level advantage.

Blaze will also be taking on Honchkrow, which shouldn't give him too much trouble.

Buttsnack the Mudkip will fight Pidgeot, focusing on Rock Throw to beat it.

Battle Details: Taking the lead against Haunter will be Greninja who'll be using STAB Night Slash to deal super effective damage on Morty's first ghost friend. It'll be a fairly even match up level wise and Greninja will be taking some damage back, but a priority Water Shuriken will knock out Haunter before Haunter's able to take the w. In comes Misdreavus which Houndoom will easily dispatch through a combination of STAB dark pulse and being.. way overleveled in comparison. But then out comes Gengar and Keith's little pal, Gaslty, will be taking this fight because she has ... a point to prove!!! (or something). Gastly will be putting Gengar to sleep with Hypnosis and hitting hard with Shadow Balls and putting a nice solid curse on the evolved pokemon.

Team: Yo.
Battle Details: Well. It's a good thing that Steel resists Dragon, and that literally every one of Clair's Pokemon are weak to Electric? Honestly, COS is SO excited to box a fucking Dragon. This is the best thing that's happened to her all week. Her awful Substitute + Rest combo, plus Bulk Up, plus Ice Punch and Thunder Punch. She is, however, weak to Flying? So if... say, Gyarados does COS in, Dirk will retaliate with Pulse Train, taking a turn to Gear Up before using Lock On and Zap Cannon. At the end of the run (assuming there's even a need) is Acorn... not the most intuitive choice, but he's fast and Dirk's taken off the Assault Vest so Hypnosis and Attract are BACK on the table. For damage, he's counting on less type-y moves like Poison Jab and Return to sweep up whatever is left. Hopefully not much. He's realised his team has a lot of holes in it... not surprising, but he's definitely planning to take a break once he has his Keystone and work on that.

Team: Here! Mimi-chan, Misty, Kushi, Heidrun, Feebah, and Kyosuke, are all up for this one! Full party!
Battle Details: Do you ever just look at something, and go 'WELL THIS IS RIGHT HERE, SO...'

Carly's team has beefed up over the months, and since she's swapped dorms to Mahogany HECK WHY NOT.

ICE. Ice on its own is pretty easy for Carly to handle, but she's been around the block long enough to go 'hmm, maybe these ice types will have water, and I should Not just wander in'. Unfortunately she's also been around long enough to go 'YKNOW WHAT I GOT LEVEL 90s! IM GOOD!' so here we Are. Carly decides to give Kyosuke the Golurk first run, because while Golurk being ground type makes things a bit risky against Ice Type, Kyosuke has two things; one, a Weakness Policy so Oh Boy, but two and more importantly, 'Iron Fist'. With that, all he really needs to do is land Dynamic Punch enough times and pretty well anything in Pryce's roster is...probably going down! Not the best of strategies, but when all you have is Punch...

Not to say Kyosuke is the only one there of course. There's also Misty the Salazzle, ready to churn up the heat, and more importantly Kushi the Joltic for handling the first two pokemon of Pryce's roster. Mamoswine would be worrying, but thanks to having ground typing instead of water typing, Misty does pretty good against that thing- and on top of that, both Heidrunn and Feebah can land some good STABs as well! Bye Prcye.

Badge/Gym Leader: Rising Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: Ta-Daaah- Only Kushi and Mimi-chan this time!
Battle Details: And well, since there's only one more badge in Johto to go after..!

Finally. Finally. It's Mimi-chan's time to-

Ah, Gyarados.

Kushi the Joltic has never looked cooler. The teensie tiny bug of electric fame is going to be electro webbing and electro ball-ing all about the block until that Gyarados goes down, and Carly's going to be Absolutely Living through the entire time. Kushi's what, the size of that thing's eye?? Good Joltik.

Of course, Kushi could also take out Kingdra once that one comes out, but Carly's feeling a bit bad for her Mimiyku, who probably heard her talk about challenging dragons and got very excited. So out goes Mimikyu, who'll have a disguise to cover themselves and some Play Rough to dish out, alongside a Surprise Wood Hammer if needed.

And that of course, leaves Dragonite to the same Play Rough method of destruction. (Carly is wondering if she should invest in a TM for Mimi-chan) As it is, with the STAB bonuses in play, there's little chance that the team is going down!

Team: Here! Bibarel (Level 36), Litwick (Level 32), Ampharos (Level 34)
Battle Details: Romelle's going to lead with Lieutenant the Bibarel, in which he'll lead with Yawn to put Falkner's Noctowl to sleep on its second turn. Noctowl will be able to get a hit in on Bibarel in the meantime but fall asleep immediately after. Romelle will use that opportunity to Rollout that Noctowl up until it faints.

Romelle will let Captain, her Litwick, get his chance to shine next. He has a speed disadvantage though, so Honchcrow will be able to get a good hit on him with Pursuit. It's STAB and super effective, so Litwick's health will be...notably chunked. Litwick will manage to get a Will-O-Wisp on it though before Honchcrow effectively knocks him out.

That's when she'll send in Juniberry the Ampharos, who will (combined with the burn) take out Honchcrow with Electro Ball. Juniberry will also face off against Pidgeot and tank the first hit while also Electro Ball-ing it to victory.

Character: Allura | [personal profile] lioness_rampant
Badge/Gym Leader: Faulkner / Zephyr Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here! ⇨ Altaria, Rattata, and Pachirisu
Battle Details: This is Allura's first gym battle so she's nervous but excited!

She starts off with her best boy Blaytz the Altaria. We start the show with Mist to obscure the field and protect against status changes, as well as Perish Song. That gives Noctowl an opportunity to strike. Blaytz will follow up with Ice Beam until Noctowl is knocked out by either the ice or the Perish Song countdown.

Klaizap the Rattata takes the field after this to face down Honchkrow. She's hopefully still covered by Blaytz's Mist, and opens up with a Quick Attack, then Focus Energy. After that, she'll use a combo of Super Fang and Return, which packs a punch based on Allura's strong friendship.

Last up is Trigel the Pachirisu, who is slightly underleveled but has the type advantage. She takes a hit early, but comes back strong with Thunder Wave to paralyze Pidgeot. With Pidgeot unable to move, Trigel is free to Electro Ball it to her little heart's content.

Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy / Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here! ⇨ Raboot, Altaria, and Rattata
Battle Details:

Gyrgan the Raboot is first on the field, Growling at Pinsir to lower its attack and then following that up Ember to keep its distance if it can, since Pinsir is a very physical attacker. Flame Charge comes next, which increases Gyrgan's speed. If Pinsir uses a Fighting type move, Allura counters with... Counter, which doubles the damage done to Pinsir. Gyrgan has the type advantage, so even if he gets scuffed up, he should come out on top.

Next it's Blaytz that takes center stage. Blaytz is higher leveled, and his Flying type puts Heracross' Bug/Fighting at an extreme disadvantage. He comes out of the gate with Perish Song, and follows that up with Aerial Ace until Heracross drops.

Blaytz remains on the field for Scizor, using the same strategy as before, but if he gets knocked out, Gyrgan will come back out to deal a wicked blow with his Flame Charge. Klaizap is here to serve as backup if necessary.

Team: Doublade, Mimikyu and Skarm
Battle Details:
Against Hitmonlee, Doublade will take the field to take advantage of an immunity to fight type moves. There'll be a quick turn to set up with Swords Dance to boost its attack while Hitmonlee goes for some non-STAB attacks, and Doublade will be attacking with Aerial Ace and following that up with a quick Shadow Sneak to score the KO. Doublade will be staying in against Hitmonchan to take advantage of its attack boost and getting a hit in with an Aerial Ace, but won't appreciate a probable Fire Punch. This is where Friend (Mimikyu) takes over. Also having a handy immunity to fighting and a STAB fairy type move in Play Rough to dish out a good pummeling means Friend gets the upper hand fairly easily. Poliwrath is also getting a good old Play Rough to the face. Skarm will be there to finish the job with a massively overleveled Air Slash if Friend needs to be switched out.

Badge/Gym Leader: Mineral Badge / Jasmine
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Greninja, Doublade, Houndoom
Battle Details:
Against Skarm, Keith's going in with Doublade and adopting a similar strat of using its defenses to tank resisted flying and steel stab attacks from Skarmory while boosting up with Swords Dance. After using Swords Dance twice, Doublade will be going on the offensive using Sacred Sword to score strong but neutral damage on Skarm until the birb goes down. It'll be launching a sacred sword at Magneton as well, but considering Doublade's lower special defense, it won't be doing as good of a job tanking powerful electric moves. Greninja will clean up with a priority water shuriken to deal the rest of the damage to Magneton. Against Steelix, Greninja will be hitting Surf to take advantage of steelix's lower special defenses. But considering Greninja's pretty frail too, this one probably comes down to the wire with another priority Water Shuriken to help secure the KO. Houndoom is largely there for moral support and will only be switched in to unleash a massively unnecessarily overkill Inferno attack if things are going south.

Badge/Gym Leader: Fog Badge

Team: here
Battle Details: Lillipup is sitting this one out as far as possible because a normal type Pokémon in a Ghost gym only gets you so far. Meowstic is likewise taking a backseat, putting James at some disadvantage. Staraptor will lead the offense with flying type moves instead. He outlevels the gym leader's team by a good 30 levels and should be able to do some good damage. Next is Datrix moving in with a spam of Brave Bird. The finishing performance goes to Dedenne who likewise is leagues ahead of the gym in levels. Lillipup and Meowstic will only pinch hit in emergency with their non-disadvantaged moves.

Badge/Gym Leader: Mineral Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: here + 8 levels because this happens early December
Battle Details: Lillipup is back in the action for this and combined with Staraptor, James has a highly trained combination of Pokémon with a ~30 level advantage. That should do a lot of good with brute force alone. Meowstic will see strategic use in this battle by being switched in to cause Confusion in the opposing Pokémon. Dedenne and Datrix are on back-up as usual with a preference for Datrix because she's not a fairy type.

Battle Details: We're just going with simple type match-ups, people. Grass and Water vs. Rock makes for a happy Egon. Well--perhaps happy is a little extreme. Also, his team is...significantly overleveled for this gym because Egon doesn't really have too many babies with him. Sorry, Brock.

Badge/Gym Leader: Cascade Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Faraday (Trevenant, Lvl 100)
Battle Details: Egon's going to be trying something a little different for Misty. He tried doing the one-Pokémon thing with his Shuckle for a few gyms--why not use his starter Pokémon, his pride and joy and beautiful daughter, Faraday?

It's unfortunate he doesn't know about Ford's whole thing with Ninetales--otherwise, he'd probably try something a little different.

Faraday's a grass type, so hopefully that'll give her an advantage. Not to mention that she's, um, literally Level 100, but any Pokémon can be worn down over time. His main strategy is to have her use draining moves such as Giga Drain or Horn Leech so that she'll be able to sustain herself throughout the battle. Hone Claws will be used in tandem with Protect to buff up her attack power so she'll be able to take her enemies down with ease.

If anything goes wrong against Magneton, Buttsnack the Swampert will once again be finishing it off, but ideally he'll be saved for the finale against Steelix.

In the event that doesn't pan out, then hopefully Steelix should be low enough on health that Ellie the Donphan should be able to end it despite the level discrepancy.

Battle Details: Romelle's Pokemon are slightly overleveled for this, so she's going to let Captain the Lampent lead this battle. She's going to Will-O-Wisp all of Bugsy's Pokemon first before Captain goes in for the knock outs. Lampent is going to use Inferno on Pinsir and Heracross, though he misses once or twice, allowing Pinsir and Heracross to do some damage. Ultimately though Lampent is able to knock them both out. Scizor's 4x weak to fire though, so Romelle skips the Will-O-Wisp and goes straight for the KO with Overheat.
