Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Character: Yuri Plisetsky | [personal profile] borschtkot
Badge/Gym Leader: Whitney/Plain ; Morty/Fog
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team:
Whitney:
Devanna the Lopunny
Altin the Bewear
Potya the Glameow

Morty:
Simargl the Houndoom
Chur the Ariados
Nocnitsa the Noctowl

Battle Details:
Whitney:
Yuri only has one fighting type specific but knows that Devanna has fighting type moves. Potya is just supplementary if there's a problem. The battle will start with Altin, which hopefully being a figthing type and well rounded in "Destroying the enemy" he will float like a Butterfree and sting like a Beedrill. Should he begin flagging in the midst of battle Devanna will take over, utilizing speedy strikes to take down whoever is left. Potya will be glad to clean up any stragglers should the first two fail.

Morty:
Yuri was disappointed that he hadn't trained up his two specific acquisitions in time for this battle but it's okay. He has them watching in the wings to learn some stuff!
This battle team will start Nocnitsa, utilizing a 1-2 punch in Hypnosis/Dream Eater. Since these attacks aren't specifically powerful, he will back the Noctowl up when needed with Simargl. Simargl taking over means a Dark/Fire and that means type advantage! On the off chance both Nocnitsa and Simargl fall in battle Chur will be the last out, utilizing a combination of status ailment moves to whittle the last bits of strength from Morty's Pokemon.

Character: Vanitas | [personal profile] bleedingunversed
Badge/Gym Leader: Rainbow Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team:
Mr. Pickles (lv. 77)
Calamity (lv.84)

Battle Details:
Vanitas is going to start the battle with Mr. Pickles, letting the Flareon deal with both the Jumpluff and Tangrowth. He'll start out with Flamethrower against the Jumpluff, not worried about leaving a burn because if that doesn't take it out first try he'll just assault it again with the same attack. For the Tangrowth he's going to hit it with Lava Plume just for a change of pace, using the same sort of tactic here--if it doesn't go down first try he'll just use the same attack again.

While Mr. Pickles would be more than capable of taking out the last opponent as well, Vanitas is going to give old man Calamity a chance in the ring against the Bellossom just for something to do and to keep a spring in his step. Calamity is a wee bit senile though and when Vanitas makes the call for Flamethrower...he's going to use Explosion instead.

So he'll faint and take the Bellossom down with him hopefully. If not, Vanitas will send Mr. Pickles out to finish the stupid flower off with a Flamethrower--an actual Flamethrower attack.

Character: Walter Sullivan | [personal profile] 11121_assumption
Badge/Gym Leader: Soul Badge / Janine
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Doll, Knife, Assumption, Chaos, Joseph, Alessa (all level 100)
Battle Details: Doll heads this assault, so Walter can test a new power; Mega Evolution.

Opening with Phantom Force after Mega-Evolving, Doll will follow up with a Sucker Punch to try and take out Janine's first Pokemon before they can cause much damage, although he fully expects a Toxic to hit Doll. - which is why he has an Antidote / Full Restore on hand. He'll press on, having her use Shadow Claw, Sucker Punch and Return to maximise her damage output. Against the Weezing and Toxicroak, he doesn't foresee any major issues but he does expect her to fall to the Drapion. Regardless, once her health gets too low, he will have her use her failsafe; a Prankster priority Destiny Bond, to take her foe down with her.

Knife will take her place. With an immunity to poison Walter intends for Knife to deal some intense damage to Janine's team. Using Swords Dance and Iron Defense, Walter will have him use those moves until he is weak - and then use a Full Restore to recover his health. Now stacked with power, Knife will use Iron Head, Night Slash and Foul Play as an onslaught against her team, using Rock Smash against the Drapion (if it wasn't Destiny Bonded by Doll) and Aerial Ace on the Venomoth.

The back up crew consists of Assumption (with a resistance to Poison with strong Ground type moves for supereffective damage), Chaos (using Wild Charge and Return), Joseph (using Ice Punch and Night Slash) and Alessa (using Fiery Dance and Fire Spin). He's brought a few Antidotes but will only use them when his Pokemon are 'badly poisoned', and has another Full Restore for his last Pokemon, should it come down to that.

Battle Details:
Against the Crobat, Vanitas is going to have Toppler utilize his Psychic type moves, hitting his opponent with Psychic twice over to get it out of the way. Next up are the two bug type Pokemon and this is where Toppler's secondary typing will come in handy: Flying.

Against the Ariados, the Swoobat will use Gust followed by Air Cutter to finish it off. The Venomoth is going to get an Air Slash treatment as soon as it comes out followed by Air Cutter to finish it off.

Team: Full list | he'll be using Gengar, Mimikyu, Incineroar, Gallade, Spheal and Skarmory for this round.

Battle Details: Shiro will start off with Gallade and its Protect, with Heal Pulse as a backup in case anything hits Gallade too hard -- restoring the Protect when necessary while Gengar, Mimikyu and Incineroar deal most of the damage. Gengar will lean toward hypnosis if possible, following up with dark type moves. Mimikyu and Incineroar will also utilize their dark type attacks. With Spheal and Skarmory as last ditch efforts.

Badge/Gym Leader: Volcano Badge / Blaine
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Toluca the Greninja, Assumption the Marowak, Doll the Banette, Chaos the Luxray, Robbie the Bewear, Alessa the Volcarona
Battle Details:
Walter will open with his Greninja, Toluca. To start he'll use Double Team to raise his evasion. His main attacks will be Waterfall and Hydro Pump, although he'll also use Feint Attack if a foe tries to raise it's evasion and Shadow Sneak to finish off a weakened Pokemon. If Toluca faints, Walter will swap in Assumption, who will Retaliate the offending Pokemon on his first turn out and then use Bonemerang and Bone Rush against Blaine's team. He has two Full Restores to use, one for Toluca and one for Assumption.

He fully expects Toluca and Assumption to be able to handle this, although he has backups with him. Doll can Mega Evolve and will use nothing but strong offensive attacks like Phantom Force, Shadow Claw and Sucker Punch, with Pain Spilt to keep her HP up. Chaos has Return, Wild Charge and Throat Chop. Robbie, while weak to fire due to his ability, still has some immense raw power and will use Rock Slide for super effective damage and Pain Split to keep himself going. Alessa resists their fire type moves and can use Hurricane and Fly to attack.

Character: Chloe Price | [personal profile] hellablue
Badge/Gym Leader: Plain Badge/Whitney houston
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here
Battle Details: SO. HER FIRST GYM BATTLE.

She's fought a lot against rando trainers and wild Pokemon, but this is her first time going up against a real, skilled trainer who isn't ford pines

Chloe's ready tho, but she's also going into it thinking "It's a cow and cows aren't scary" so she's kinda gonna underestimate Whitney. But she'll change her tune when Rollout starts happening for massive damage.

She'll open with her Snorlax, who will be able to take down Girafarig without too much problem, she uses heavy hitting attacks like body slam. For Miltank though, she's not taking it seriously.

It'll be mid battle when Rollout starts doing more damage that Snorlax will, unfortunately, get knocked out and then she'll be like "oh shit". So she'll send out Exeggutor and start using strategy that she's been fully capable of using if she'd just been a little more serious about the battle.

So she'll use Sleep Powder/Hypnosis to keep Miltank asleep and her Stomp and Leaf Storm to help take her down.

Should Exeggutor fall, she'll send out her Charizard to get the job done and use plenty of fire to do it.
-
Character: Chloe Price | [personal profile] hellablue
Badge/Gym Leader: Hive Badge/Bugsy
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here
Battle Details: So Chloe is gonna open with her Charizard here, because she knows that fire is gonna be her best friend here.

She'll be pretty cocky so she'll use Charizard right up until she can't anymore and then rely on Snorlax and his heavy body slams to finish the job where fire won't.

Umbreon will be a last resort type situation if anyone else should fail. She doesn't fully have a strategy worked out using Umbreon, but she knows what attacks do good damage so she'll focus on moves such as Bite and Tackle to wear them down.

Character: Elsa | [personal profile] frozenfractalsallaround
Badge/Gym Leader: Fog Badge/Morty
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here
Battle Details: Elsa is going to be opening the battle with her Dragonair. It's not a decision based on typing, but that Dragonair hasn't had much experience in Serious Battles and they both feel she's ready. Level-wise, she's 40 and that's not going to get her too far, but it'll give her invaluable experience. She'll put up a good fight against Haunter and might even knock him out, but when Elsa feels like she's done enough she'll call her back the rest of the battle.

Next up is her Beheeyem, who will be the star of this battle. Elsa will use a combination of Calm Mind and Psychic to hit hard throughout the battle.

Should Beheeyem fall, her final backup is her fire type Ninetale. She'll use a combination of will-o-wisp to ensure a burn, then continue to use hard hitting fire moves to finish things off.

Character: Walter Sullivan | [personal profile] 11121_assumption
Badge/Gym Leader: Earth Badge / Gary
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Assumption the Marowak, Chaos the Luxray, Joseph the Weavile, Robbie the Bewear, Knife the Bisharp, Toluca the Greninja (all lv. 100)
Battle Details: Opening with Assumption, Walter knows that the name of this gym is misleading and has done his best to prepare a team that can counter it. Although it will involve a lot of switching, and having his Pokemon take hits on entering the battle.

Starting with Assumption, Walter will have him use Flare Blitz and Return to defeat the Venusaur. Against the Blastoise he'll switch out to Chaos and immediately go all out with Discharge and Wild Charge. She'll stay out against the Charizard, using the same attacks to hit his weakness. Toluca swaps in to face the Tyranitar, using Hydro Pump and Waterfall. Joseph is next for the Pidgeot, having him use Ice Punch to knock it out. Against the Jolteon, he'll have Joseph fight to the end with Night Slash and Return. Should Joseph be KO'd, Assumption will come back out to finish the job with Bonemerang.

With the team taking hits on entry, many are acting as back ups in case something should go wrong. Assumption can be tagged in to take on the Charizard (Smack Down followed by Bonemarang) and the Jolteon (Bonemerang again). Should Chaos faint, then Toluca can come out early to clean up the Charizard before handing the Tyranitar. Should something horrendous happen and Toluca can't face or defeat the Tyranitar, Knife will handle it with an Iron Head. Robbie is here as general backup; he has Rock Slide to handle the Charizard and Pidgeot (the only ones he's weak to) and very powerful Return and Superpower attacks to finish off enemies weakened but not knocked out by his teammates. In a pinch, his Pokemon all have different type moves to get damage into a foe that might resist their abilities (i.e. Joseph has Rock Smash that would be 4x effective on the Tyranitar).

Character: Ashley Fox | [personal profile] rambling_runner
Badge/Gym Leader: Glacier Badge / Pryce
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Musufa the Pyroar (lv. 100), Diarmuid the Gallade (lv.94), An Tintreach the Raichu (lv. 100), Kinnagoe the Zoroark (lv. 89), Macavity the Umbreon (lv. 77), Mulan the Pancham (lv. 24)
Battle Details: Hearing 'Ice Gym', Ash is opening up with an admittedly high level Mufusa. He's not daft enough to rely on her fire attacks once she's out, so he'll use Hyper Voice and Hyper Beam to do as much damage as possible. If she gets taken out, Diarmuid will be used next, using Close Combat.

An Tintreach is meant to be on the backline, but she'll insist on facing someone and ultimately burst out of her Pokeball to face the Mamoswine, regardless of who else is ont he field. She'll immediately use Rock Smash, and follow through with a Dynamic Punch - if she misses, she'll just try again or opt for more Rock Smashes to break through. If she gets KO'd, Ash will just swap back to who he was using beforehand and press on.

While Ash is pretty confident in Mufusa and Diarmuid (and An Tintreach) taking this home, he's brought other party members as backup (Macavity using Toxic for damage over time, Foul Play and Moonlight to maintain his own HP and Kinnagoe using Low Sweep for super effective damage). Mulan insists on being here to watch.
