Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Destiny Match of Electric Trainer vs Rock Gym Leader

[personal profile] pikapikajankenpo 2019-07-11 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Yayoi Kise | [personal profile] pikapikajankenpo
Badge/Gym Leader: Brock!
Elite/Regular: ELITE TEAM
Team: Pikachu (Alola Raichu), Rapidash, Ampharos, Mimikyu, Magneton, Alola Golem
Battle Details: Please let me know if I have to revise the battle details to a less narrative one, it just sort of happened. She's literally got an audience for this.

Yayoi faces off against Brock, declaring a six on six match at the Elite Level with him. She summons her first Pokemon, Pikachu the Alolan Raichu to the field. There’s a moment of awkward silence from him as he questions why she’s using Electrics and she replies there’s no other Pokemon she has.

He nods, and summons Rhyperior. The match is called. The first move is Yayoi’s. She commands [Grass Knot] which will bind Rhyperior’s legs, and Pikachu uses its speed from it’s Pikachu years to get in close. There, it will deliver [Double Slap] repeatedly until Rhyperior falls from all sides, finishing up with a literal [Psychic] downwards slam into the battlefield. It’s a literal mismatch as Rhyperior tries to counter but the speed difference, plus the [Grass Knot] keeping it bound limits its ability to counter, and the lack of electric moves from the Raichu caused Brock to underestimate her. Not anymore. At the last breath, Brock commands [Stealth Rock] to seed the ground.

The second match, will be against Rampardos. Yayoi recalls Pikachu and summons deathkyu the Mimikyu who starts out the fight with [Shadow Claw.]. The pair will trade blows as deathkyu takes blows, using [Shadow Sneak] to get behind him and use [Play Rough] in order to inflict damage and chip away at his opponents HP. [Wood Hammer] inflicts considerable damage but in the end, deathkyu falls. Yayoi recalls him to the side and summons Rapidash. Rapidash opens up with [Flare Blitz], carving a huge chunk of HP away from him and continues the fight with [Agility]. [Flame Charge] does considerable damage to the weakened Ramparados and before Brock can potion, [Flare Blitz] takes him out.

In the lull, Yayoi has the moment to Revive deathkyu but simply comforts it as it holds her hand before Brock asks why she doesn’t revive it. She replies they gave 110% and it would be a disservice to make him fight again, while her family will fight alongside him. So no potions. Brock smirks, and puts his away and tells her to continue this Hot Blooded Battle.

The battle continues. Omastar comes out, and it’s immediately blasted by a [Zap Cannon] from Magneton who then [Charge]s mid [Zap Cannon] for extra umph. Yayoi’s kid gloves are off. Brock’s blood is surging as he summons Onix. Onix rampages through Magneton and knocks it down to half HP before the next attack, but Yayoi counters with [Flash Cannon] while using [Magnet Rise] to dodge. It becomes a war of attrition before Onix forces Yayoi to Switch by grounding Magneton via [Smack Down] but not before [Stealth Rock] weakens it.

Down 2 Pokemon to Brock’s 3, Onix is her main obstacle as Yayoi brings out Stronger, Alola Golem. Stronger goes toe to toe with Onix, trading punches as Onix blasts through with [Dig] and [Slam]. Golem manages to get the momentum and [Rollout] slams into Onix and sends Onix into the wall as a luckily timed [Magnet Rise] launching him up the Onix like a cannonball gaining momentum to come down like a meteor for a [Earthquake] right atop Onix. That should finish the job but severely damages Golem’s HP in the process from that move.

With Onix down, its down to Kabutops which Yayoi pulls back the exhausted Stronger who is also damaged by [Stealth Rock], and brings out Magneton once more and winds up for a [Charge/Zap Cannon] combo but this time Brock is ready for her, and slams into her before the combo is completed, knocking down Magneton. Yayoi recalls him and pulls out Cotton Candy, the Ampharos and sends it out. [Thunderbolt] and [Thunder Punch] are exchanged with physical blows and a lucky [Brick Break] finishes it off.

Finally, Golem comes out and off comes Brock’s shirt, indicating he’s 110% serious. Yayoi returns the tired Ampharos and brings out Pikachu again. Pikachu uses [Psychic] and it weakens him, a bit, while [Grass Knot] works a bit more. She can’t seem to land a good [Double Kick] and is felled. Rapidash is instantly KOed by a neatly placed [Rock Slide]. Stronger comes out and the pair grapple together, trading blows before Stronger collapses. Brock and Yayoi are literally heaving at this point. The crowd is tense. They’re down to their last Pokemon and both are in critical mode.

Cotton Candy comes out and Brock starts his attack with [Hyper Beam]. Yayoi crosses her arms -- And Mega Evolves. Mega Ampharos hits the field, Brock tries to prevent the Evolution and attack but is too late as [Dragon Pulse] slams into Golem, and it’s game.

Yayoi wins on at narrow 5-6 as they shake hands.

Somewhere Yayoi lost her shirt in the process. No one seems to mind this at all.

Battle Details: Ray: Aww dang I don't have any fighting types :C
Ray: ... Might as well throw giant monsters and trash at Whitney

Ray is mostly going pure offensive with Whitney, with a lot of Hammer Arms from Stay Puft and Sludge Bomb with Jersey.

... Honestly depending on how Stay Puft is doing, Ray will Probably use Explosion on Jersey for Whitney's Miltank.

Yeah Ray doesn't have much strategy here he's just beating this poor girl up with trash.

Badge/Gym Leader: Morty/Fog
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Speed Racer (Metagross lvl 60), Starchild (Clefary lvl 100), Jackie (Gourgeist lvl 100)
Battle Details: Now this he has some strategy for! Ray is gonna Leech Seed each of Morty's Pokemon first (esp the Gengar), and use her for backup/ for Misdreavus, Ray will then use Speed Racer for most of the battle, using a whole lot of Zen Headbutts and Psychics. If they ever get low on health, Ray will switch to Starchild for some more Psychics and resort to Healing Wish for Speed Racer if her health gets low!

Battle Details: Dirk is repeating his strategy of using his Rotom to spread status, especially Paralysis. This time, however, his first choice for damage is Acorn the Rapidash. His second pick, oddly, is COS the Machoke. Or maybe not so oddly: COS has both Fire Punch and Ice Punch, as well as Rest. But Dirk isn't actually anticipating a need for her. He's implementing a scorched earth policy, pun intended but meaning fully literal. Guess he has a bug up his butt about something... lol.

Elite/Regular: REGULAR god imagine accidentally challenging Elite she would Die
Team: From the Party-! Mimi-chan, Misty, and Kushi!
Battle Details: TODAY'S THE DAY. Carly's been gearing up for this, intent on the ability to travel even faster on a pokemon. No one tell her she has to get the HM still. After plenty of walking around and fighting, Carly's finally ready to go-

And the star of the show is going to be Kushi the Joltik! There's one specific move that the little guy has been told to bring out at a constant rate, and that move is 'Electroweb'- slow 'm down, as much as possible! From there Kushi will be using Electro Ball- which of course, does more damage the faster she is than the others!

But Kushi has one more ace in the hole if things get tight between this whole running recreation of monster hunter she's pulling; Volt Switch. Thanks to a good use of TMs, Kushi will swap out for Misty the Salazzle once things get too tight.

In that case, Salazzle will be using a good double down on status effects followed by attacking- while she lacks the Venoshock move that will really make it stick, she does have Toxic, and after poisoning the opponent can continue on as normal with STAB fire moves.

And at the end of the line, there's still Mimi-chan the Mimikyu if it all goes to pits; disguise gives Mimi-chan a free hit, and while a number of moves can likely hit them, the normal ones at least won't. Mimikyu can even do some attacking back (and boy have they been raring to go thanks to that chip)! Even if it's just Slash and Feint Attack. They may only have claws, but by golly, THEY WILL SLASH!

AND WIN- !

And then find out from an AwkwardCoughingFalkner that she needs to get the HM itself before she can just fly around mmmmmmhmm.

Battle Details: Susie's going in with a team of three, but honestly? With Junior leading the pack, there's a strong chance she won't need to use two-thirds of it. Junior's rock typing gives her a solid advantage already, but the real champion here is her ability: Strong Jaw.
First things first, Junior's setting up Stealth Rock, and will continue to do so when necessary. After that, it's Thunder Fang and Ice Fang with a 50% power boost all the way home, babeyyyyy
If Junior does manage to finally faint though, Red Buster and Tempest still have some hefty Steel and Dragon type STABs to power through with.

Cerberus is gonna user a lot of Confuse Ray and Fire Spin to start off with, then just attack with Flamethrower until they go down.

In the event he needs a break, Crackle will be used to take down Skarmory and Starchild will... well... just be used for everything. She's a power hungry monster and she's not afraid to use Dig on Magneton and Steelix and Rain Dance + Thunder for Skarmory.

Character: Egon Spengler | [personal profile] pkemeter
Badge/Gym Leader: Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Karl Wilhelm Gottlieb Leopold Fuckel (Shuckle, Lvl 72)
Battle Details: aka BUG VS BUG: THE ULTIMATE BATTLE

Egon could very easily use his few Flying Pokémon to take down the bug gym. However, that wouldn't be very fun now, would it? So, despite people warning him otherwise, he's coming into Azaela Town with only his most cherished bug--Karl Wilhelm Gottlieb Leopold Fuckel.

Why, you ask?

To test his abilities.

(So what if they're a little overleveled? I totally didn't forget to submit this when Egon was passing by Azaela for the first time.)

Anyways, here's the general strategy--Egon's sending out Fuckel the Shuckle in order to put out some entry hazards such as Sticky Web and Stealth Rock. He's then going to Protect Fuckel from any physical attacks, and then put down a Safeguard to prevent any status effects as he sets this up. If he has time, he'll also throw in some Toxic and, if it applies, Attract. With both of these status effects combined, he hopes to be able to cause enough damage to Bugsy's Pokémon and put so many factors on the field so he can pull off his plan for Shuckle domination.

Egon's goal here is to both render any attacks made by the enemy ineffective as well as bolstering his own Pokémon. He's going to use Power Split to try and average the playing field--after all, Shuckle's attack and sp. attack stats are abysmal, and there's nowhere to go but down for the enemy Pokémon. Egon then will have Shuckle use Power Trick to swap Shuckle's new and improved attack/sp. attack stats with Shuckle's absolutely terrifying defense/sp. defense stats. After that, it's time to go ham with Rollout, Stone Edge, and Rock Slide, all the while reapplying the appropriate protective moves when necessary. If Fuckel's health is looking a little low, Egon will let him Rest.

Don't Fuckel with Shuckle.

Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: SHE'S ALL IN ON SALAZZLE BABEY
Battle Details: Thanks to an untimely delay in her travels, Carly's gotten more training done than planned- as such, she's challenging two gyms in a row, warping between!

Once again forcing a pissy Mimikyu to the bench, Carly starts this fight with Misty the Salazzle; her fire typing gives a strong weakness against all of Bugsy's pokemon, and her poison typing an extra edge for Heracross- while Scizor has to deal with a doubled weakness to that initial flame. Misty will be going in simply and strategically nonetheless however- a bit of Toxic never hurt before laying down the pain with a Flamethrower.

Whitney is another story.

Badge/Gym Leader: Plain Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: HERE- Mimikyu, Salazzle, Golurk
Battle Details: Carly's kinda scared of Whitney. She has a miltank- and miltank are pretty tough. But while she lacks a type advantage overall, she Does have a level advantage...

And oh? What's that? Most of Whitney's team aren't 100% Normal Type? Well then.

This time the ghosts get to play. Being the strongest for it, Carly leads with Mimi-chan- and BOY is he raring to go! Moves that are ghost type might be prone to passing through, but Mimi-chan has one good Dark Move in his arsenal to use here, and use it he shall. Combined with Hone Claws, Feint Attack is going to hurt Girafarig a Lot.

When Whitney's clefable comes out however it'll be Misty's turn again- spitting piping hot poison in the form of toxic and Venoshock.

From there it's just that Miltank- for which Carly intends to bargain. The Ghost Ground Golurk, punching with deadly force and a Dynamic Punch, against that Miltank's rollout..!

Fingers are Crossed.

The less obvious choice is Jiraiya the Greninja, but he has Role Play and Spikes, as well as Protect, Double Team, Mat Block, and Bounce, all of which are designed to throw off an opponent's strategy or rotation. Plus, Dark is going to be useful against Girafarig, if not necessarily Clefable. As always, Acorn the Rapidash is here to clean up whatever needs mopping up. Like... Clefable, with Poison Jab.

At that point, Keith will be using his Houndour to knock out Noctowl and Honchcrow. Though Houndour at least resists Honchcrow's dark type moves, the flying ones still manage to put in enough damage that he has to switch to Skarmory for battling Pidgeot. Skarmory resists PIdgeot's normal and flying moves. Vulpix will be hanging back from the battle but will be used for a speedy flamethrower if there's a need.

Character: Peter Venkman | [personal profile] neverstudied
Badge/Gym Leader: Brock
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Roach (Golisopod) lvl 100, Luca (Wartortle) lvl 100, Kirby (Mimikyu) lvl 100, Tarantula (Alolan Persian) lvl 100, Sigourney (Beheeyem) lvl 100, Nermal (Persian) lvl 100
Battle Details: Matching the team of all level 100 Pokemon with a team of a level 100 Pokemon, Roach and Luca are the only two with clear advantages/disadvantages- Water is good with Rock, Rock is good against Bug, everything else is neutral territory on the onset.

As always, Venkman will start with Attract and Toxic when applicable and Double Team; and Swords Dance/Iron Defense/Calm Mind/similar stat boosting moves if the Pokemon knows it. From there, it's mostly a matter of using a lot of hard-hitting super effective and neutral damaging moves; not much strategy here, mostly a lot of smacking rocks really hard with Water Pulses and Wood Hammers and Surfs and so on and so forth.

Badge/Gym Leader: Misty
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Rue (Sawsbuck) lvl 53, Eva (Zoroark) lvl 36, Gef (Sneasel) lvl 45
Battle Details: Rue is an obvious choice for being a Grass type, though it's worth noting that this is probably his first ever SERIOUS fight- Venkman's put a lot of work into helping this deer build his confidence, and he's avoided pitting him against other trained Pokemon for the most part. Fighting Misty seemed like a great opportunity- Rue's got a big level advantage, there's very little chance of Fire-type moves getting involved, and if he wins it'll be a good confidence booster. Gef and Eva, on the other hand, are just itching to wreck shit and ruin some people's days. Throwing them at a gym will at least (hopefully) make them work off some of their chaotic asshole energy.

Again, Attract/Toxic first when applicable, followed by Double Team, followed by any moves that can boost stats. Rue also has Leech Seed, which he will be using ASAP. From there, it's just a matter of hitting hard with super-effective moves again; Rue with all his Grass-type moves (and maybe some well-placed kicks on the Lapras, Eva with Grass Knot + Dark moves against the Starmie, Gef with Dark movies against Starmie and Metal Claw/Iron Tail/Focus Punch against Lapras.
