Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Character: Stanford Pines | [personal profile] meteorman
Badge/Gym Leader: Rising Badge | Clair
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Roswell (lv 100), Destroying Angel (lv 77), Nautilus (lv 57), Kerouac (lv 70)
Battle Details: Ford is a little less prepared for this fight as he was for the last one against Whitney. He doesn't think that's going to stop him winning, but it does mean he's brought more Pokemon and has a more aggressive strategy. While theoretically he thinks he can win with just two, Nautilus and Kerouac are waiting in the wings in case of emergency.

He'll be starting with Roswell and relying on her Thunderbolt to tank that Gyarados before it can do much damage. That 4x weakness should mean it goes down easy. If for some reason Roswell faints, he'll be swapping into Destroying Angel; if she doesn't then Destroying Angel will still come out against the Kingdra. Like I said, he's taking no chances with Clair. A good Moonblast or two should take it out, though they're close enough in level that he may need to resort to putting it to sleep to prevent taking too much damage. Luckily Destroying Angel is built for that, and has access to Dream Eater. He's also hoping that Clair's Kingdra mainly uses Water moves, which won't damage Destroying Angel much.

The Dragonite is obviously the biggest worry here. He's going to leave Destroying Angel in against it, using liberal applications of Strength Sap to try and lower its formidable attack stat. While she's immune to Dragonite's Dragon moves, its other moves (particularly Fire Punch, if it knows it) pose a considerable threat. He doesn't plan to get too greedy; if a physical move connects with Destroying Angel and triggers her Effect Spore ability he will immediately swap to Moonblast to take advantage of the opening.

Should Destroying Angel go down, he will bring in Nautilus in the hopes of getting off at least one Ice Beam to finish the job. Kerouac and his Explosion are the very last resort, if all else fails.
Edited (I REALIZED. STRENGTH SAP IS NON-DAMAGING This is what i get for putting in requests half-asleep) 2017-05-30 04:39 (UTC)

Battle Details: hello naughty dragons it's blizzard time

I mean no. Ford may be egging Elsa into taking Clair on and she's not much of a fighter, but Elsa plays smart if she does battle, so she's using all her heavy hitting ice moves with her ice-types, and directing Frigga to use her Fairy-type moves and Idunn as a backup to pepper them with her Dragon-type moves if needed. Basically she's throwing every weakness dragons have at them SO UH. YEAH. HAVE FUN WITH THAT CLAIR.

[personal profile] 11121_assumption 2017-06-01 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Walter Sullivan | [personal profile] 11121_assumption
Badge/Gym Leader: Glacier Badge / Pryce
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Chaos the Luxray, Robbie the Bewear, Assumption the Marowak, Source the Litwick, Bonfire the Vulpix, Claudia the Vulpix
Battle Details: Finally getting back to this after Team Rocket meetings and strange weekends, Walter's brought a team of varying levels this time. The extra time means he's done extra research; which is why Bonfire is sitting in the back, due to the secondary types of Pryce's Pokemon that would cause trouble for her.

Chaos opens up the fight as she would, setting up an Electric Terrian before using her electrical attacks to deal massive damage and hopefully knock out both the Dewgong and Lapras, taking advantage of their Water-typing. Once the Mamoswine comes out, Walter will order her to use Magnet Rise rending her immune to it's Ground attacks. From there he'll be ordering her to use Crunch and Return to take it out.

Robbie will follow Chaos should she fall; he has a slight level disadvantage but has the typing to go toe-to-toe with Pryce's team. He'll be using Hammer Arm to deal supereffective damage and, if low on health and facing a foe with more HP than him, Pain Split to recover and keep in the fight. If it's clear Robbie can't win, Walter will order him to use Double-Edge to go for a last, full power charge. Following Robbie comes none other than Assumption, who will open up with a Retaliate for a massive amount of damage. Then it's nothing but Shadow Bones until the Mamoswine goes down.

Bonfire, Claudia and Source are here as spectators.

He comes bearing supereffective attacks from Skarmory, Gliscor, and Alolan Vulpix.
paladinlost: (serious)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2017-06-02 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Cecil Harvey | [personal profile] paladinlost
Badge/Gym Leader: Elite Four
Elite/Regular: The elitest of the elite
Team: I spent three hours updating that page for this.
Battle Details: Cecil will be using Rosie the Clefable, Terra the Gardevoir, Ceo the Volcarona, Kayne the Dragonite, Firion the Lucario and Longjing the Steelix. He'll also be bringing enough Hyper Potions and Revices to fully restore everyone between (and during) battles if needed.

Against Will, Cecil will be leading with Volcarona. He'll buff himself with Quiver Dance, throw a Toxic for support unless facing Bronzong, and add a String Shot if he's still outsped after all that. His main attack pattern will be to start with Silver Wind and continue with Bug Buzz. However, Bronzong and Jynx will instead meet the business end of a Fiery Dance.
If Bronzong turns out to have the ability Heatproof or if Volcarona falls, Cecil will switch to Steelix. He'll begin with a Sandstorm, and follow with Gyro Ball against non-Slowbro/Bronzong Pokémon that have not been affected by String Shot. Slowbro will earn a Thunder Fang, while Bronzong will receive Eathquake (Heatproof)/Fire Fang (Levitate that outlasts Volcarona).
Remaining order if necessary: Clefable > Dragonite > Lucario > Gardevoir

Against Koga, Cecil will be leading with Gardevoir. She'll open with Double Team, and follow up with Magic Coat. Her main source of damage will be Psychic, with the occasional Return for variety. She might try Hypnosis once, but will not reattempt to use it if it fails.
If Gardevoir fall, Cecil will send out Steelix. Once again, Sandstorm/Earthquake will be his main combo, with Crobat earning Rock Slide instead. He'll also try to use Screech once against every Pokémon he'll face.
Remaining order if necessary: Lucario > Volcarona > Dragonite > Clefable

Against Bruno, Cecil will be leading with Dragonite. He'll open with Thunder Wave, to buy the occasional turn, and follow up with Dragon Dance. His main attacks after that will be Fly and Air Cutter, with perhaps a Fire Punch if facing Lucario. He'll also use Roost to heal if necessary.
If Dragonite falls, Cecil will switch to Gardevoir. Double Team will offer her some protection, and Toxic will help against any non-Lucario Pokémon. For damage, she'll alternate between Psychic and Moonblast, with perhaps an unexpected Fire Punch for Lucario.
Remaining order if necessary: Clefable > Steelix > Lucario > Volcarona

Against Karen, Cecil will be leadin with Lucario. He'll be starting with Swords Dance, then Power-Up Punch. He has Thunder Punch and Ice Punch for Honchkrow, Earthquake for high damage to nearly everyone else, and Close Combat if desperate towards the end of the fight. In addition, if a Pokémon seems resistant to physical attacks, he'll use Metal Sound > Aura Sphere.
If Lucario falls, or when Spiritomb comes out, Cecil will use Clefable. Minimize will offer her some safety, while Moonblast will offer plenty of pain, along with the occasional Bug Buzz. Weavile may receive a Fire Punch if necessary, and Water Pulse is ready for Houndoom.
Remaining order if necessary: Gardevoir > Volcarona > Dragonite > Steelix

Against Lance, Cecil will be leading with Clefable. She'll set things up with Minimize and Light Screen, and heal herself with Moonlight as necessary. Once that's done, she has Moonblast. She has Ice Beam. She has a Thunderbolt waiting for Gyarados, a Water Pulse ready for Charizard, and a fully-powered Return. If the opponents are doing too much damage, she'll add Cosmic Power and Lucky Chant to her buffs.
If Clefable falls, Cecil will follow with Dragonite. He'll throw a Thunder Wave at any non-ground Pokémon, boost himself with Dragon Dance, and alternate between Ice Beam and Dragon Pulse, whichever hits the hardest. Charizard gets to enjoy a very special Surf, while Gyarados has to deal with Thunderbolt.
Remaining order if necessary: Gardevoir > Steelix > Lucario > Volcarona

Character: Stanford Pines | [personal profile] meteorman
Badge/Gym Leader: Glacier Badge | Pryce
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Roswell (lv 100), Titania (lv 100)
Battle Details: Since Ford has settled in to Blackthorn, it made sense to take a day trip and make the small warp journey back to Mahogany to pick up the Glacier Badge. Seeing all these neat Nulls running around has definitely got him more focused on badge-seeking.

He's bringing Titania and Roswell; while Roswell would likely be better against Dewgong and Lapras, as both are Water types, he'll be sending out Titania first: setting up Spikes is first priority, then an Iron Defense. He'll be relying on the level difference after that; while Titania's moves aren't super-effective (except on the Mamoswine) he plans to try and sweep with her. If Titania does get in trouble he'll have her use Explosion before making the switch out to Roswell. A Calm Mind boosted Psychic should do some decent damage to the Mamoswine if she winds up having to be the one to face it.

Character: Alphonse Elric | [personal profile] armoredsoul
Badge/Gym Leader: Lt. Surge for the Thunder Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Buster, Helios, Celeste, Alder, Vulcan, Beryl
Battle Details: Buster is forming the head of the charge on this fight, With ground-type advantage and a decent amount of bulk behind him. Helios with some ground-type moves is the follow-up, and the rest are along for backup for power and decent type-resistances.

Character: Alphonse Elric | [personal profile] armoredsoul
Badge/Gym Leader: Sabrina for the Marsh Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Holly, Buster, Alder, Umbra, Falke, Vulcan
Battle Details: This fight should honestly be a walk in the park. With all of Al's Pokemon having resistance to psychic (and a few steel types to blunt the fairy-type sniping from Mr. Mime), Al isn't expecting too much trouble from Sabrina.

Reno (lv. 65)
Shuriken (lv. 67)
Rocket (lv. 70)
Recurve (lv. 44)
Flux (lv. 69)

Battle Details:
Reno is going to be leading the charge in this battle simply because of the type advantage he has. Flamethrower, Inferno, Will-o-Wisp and Fire Blast are all going to be put to good use against their opponents, Cissnei going for a full on assault this time around.

If need be, Recurve will play back-up, utilizing Acrobatics to do some heavy damage to their opponents.

Rocket, Shuriken and Flux are there simply as backup/spectators since Cissnei isn't really expecting much trouble with this battle.

Character: Tony Clark | [personal profile] yoyoboy
Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team: Noise, Elec
Battle Details: Tony is going to start the battle with his Noibat, which he starts the battle by using Supersonic in an attempt to confuse his opponent because all out with Air Cutter and Wing Attack.

However, he might win the battle easily due to type advantage since he also has his Manectric as he may try to take care of the other two Pokemon (three if Noise can't take it out and got knocked out) with Thunder Fang and Discharge. It might also be easy since Elec has Electric Terrain as an advantage when it comes to speed.

Character: Ash Fox | [personal profile] rambling_runner
Badge/Gym Leader: Plain Badge / Whitney
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Danny the Lucario, Hitchcock the Staraptor, Cú the Lycanroc, Fionn the Rufflet, Mufusa the Pyroar, Carmilla the Noibat
Battle Details: Ash actually got some tips off friends of his who faced Whitney, and brought along a team that matches (or exceeds) her levels.

Carmilla goes out first, setting up a Tailwind for the team and using Supersonic on the Girafarig to enable a (somewhat safe) switch to Mufusa. She'll use Flamethrower and Crunch, then nothing but Crunch when it turns out to be really good, to KO the Long Neck pokemon If anything happened to Mufusa, Cú would be brought out to continue the Crunch onslaught.

Against Clefable, Ash will have Mufusa switch to Flamethrower and Fire Fang since Crunch will turn out not very effective. If it looks like Mufusa is gonna go down, she'll go all out with a Hyper Beam. If Cú was the current fighter, she would use constant Rock Slides to gnaw through her health. Next up will be Fionn, using his strongest attacks (Crush Claw and Sky Drop) to cut through Clefable's bulk with brute force. After Fionn would come Carmilla, using Supersonic and Screech to confuse it, lower it's stats and then strike, and Hitchcock, who would throw himself at it with Brave Bird. Danny is a last resort, as he's being held back for a certain pokemon...

Against the fabled Miltank, he won't expect her Rollout attack which would easily take out a large number of his team. But this is where the main man comes out to play; Danny takes on the Miltank, using Aura Sphere and Close Combat.
