Rocket Missions V.2

Welcome, valued Team Rocket member! Pursuing a career in the greatest organization of all time, eh? Well, you're in the right place!

This is the hub where you will find information on all team Missions. As stated in the Code of Conduct, all Rocket agents must be available to accept at least one mission at all times. They won't all be glamorous or exciting, but even mopping floors in one of the bases can lead to greater things! Team Rocket offers work in a variety of fields, with the primary openings being in four specific categories: maintenance, field work, science, and of course, the goal of most aspiring agents, leadership.

Maintenance: Brand new agents will likely be handed these jobs before anything else, as they're the easiest and least likely to result in police attention if you screw them up! They can include things like janitorial and laundry work in the bases, or serving fellow agents in the cafeteria.
Field Work: The most common missions take place in the field! Theft (whether it's as small as shoplifting some Potions or as big as participating in a full-scale heist) falls into this category, as does the simplest available mission, Pokemon acquisition. Anything you do to benefit the team outside of official Rocket premises can be considered field work!
Science: Science mission work mostly takes place out of the public eye, in official Rocket laboratories. The perfect field for more technically-minded agents, these jobs can include anything from pioneering new technology to experimentation on Pokemon themselves. Or it can be as dull as data entry. Grab a lab coat and see what you get!
Leadership: Getting sick of sharing those dorms? How does a private helicopter sound? Agents with lofty aspirations and a good work ethic may advance through the ranks and claim authority for themselves, earning swanky privileges, and more underlings to boss around than you can shake a stick at. This isn't to say that higher status doesn't come with its own responsibilities-- "Privates" and "Betas" are still expected to accomplish other missions (though usually not the maintenance ones-- that's grunt work), and even "Alphas" will usually work in the field. 'Leadership' jobs can even include tasks that just happen to require both specialized skills and a certain amount of trustworthiness to the Team. The main difference is tackling missions from an organizational, independent-thinking standpoint rather than just following orders-- YOU'RE the boss now!! Go put the fear of Arceus in some new recruits!

CARLY NAGISA (Retired character)

STATION: Two Island

JOB: Intelligence Gathering, Base Establishment

NOTES: After successfully mapping the Whirl Islands, Team Rocket was more than happy to approve of Carly's requested reassignment to the Sevii Islands. After their first failed attempt at establishing a presence on the islands, Carly's reassignment will hopefully be laying the foundations for new Rocket base in this part of the region.

Vinegar Doppio (epitaffio)

STATION: In the field

JOB: Infiltration / information gathering.

NOTES:Though broadly speaking a group of enthusiastic nutjobs, the Legendary Seekers are still Johto and Kanto's prime hotspot for information on Legendary pokemon. Sure, 95% of it might just be blurry pictures and bull, but it is that 5% Team Rocket is after. Doppio has been assigned to infiltrate the group as a regular member and keep his ear to the ground regarding any rumours about Legendary Pokemon locations, sighting or items related to them. Of course, he will be expected to only report on actual viable leads, and not every blurry picture of someone's Ursaring walking through the forest.

Min-Gi Park (outofsynth)

STATION: Vermilion City

JOB: Squirtle Supervisor

NOTES: There are a very small gang of Squirtles in Vermilion City that Min-Gi's trained up to recruit for Team Rocket within the city and the surrounding routes. For the moment recruitment's all they're doing, but maybe one day there will be more to this. There might also be a minor rivalry between the criminally inclined Squirtles doing it for themselves, and the ones with ties to the Rockets.

REQUESTING A MISSION:

"Hard" missions will only be given upon demand, as they may come with specific instructions and usually require at least a "Beta" rank. On the other hand, "Regular" and "Easy" missions can be picked up anytime by any team members that meet the requirements, if there are any.

Individual, personalized missions (player-determined) can also be requested at any time, and may vary beyond just the 'official' locations above-- the listed missions are guidelines, not restrictions! Get creative-- you may find yourself rewarded handsomely!

Maybe they've been distinguishing themselves by taking charge and deserve to move upward in the ranks, or maybe they pulled off a heist so impressive that Auntie Apricorn wants to give them a rare item from the Rocket vault! The greater the achievements, the better the loot!

Team Rocket has access to many resources and can even, depending on the request, offer rewards that aren't available via other means...

Please use this comment to apply for your rewards related to the Prom 2023 voting event. Even though the plan did not succeed, Team Rocket still intends to reward those who particpated (just, perhaps, a little less extravagently than if Malva would've won). Rewards can come in the form of rank increases, items, pokemon, anything! We'll try and personalise your rewards as much as possible, so please let us know if your character is interested in certain things, whether it is certain types of TMs, certain items etc.

However, please do not request a shiny pokemon. It's not that we won't give these out as rewards, its just that we know you want them, you know you want them, its already being taken into consideration!

Rocket Name: Vinegar Doppio
Rocket Rank: Private
Requested Reward: He definitely hasn't earned a rank increase for this one (he's got something in the works, though), but a Pokémon would be nice!

Plot interactions: One of the prompts in Doppio's top level was meant for influencing votes, but it seems only Louie took the bait and... he ended up voting for Bede anyway, so whoops! If it counts, his questions to Bede and to Malva were meant to sway people in Malva's favour as well.

Also, not vote-related at all, but I'd like to note Doppio would have sent the photos he took of the legendary items on display to Team Rocket, too.

Requested Reward: Min has no desire to rise the ranks, but if this turns out to be enough to get him to private I am here for that!

For things he would actually want... maybe Leftovers or a reusable TM.

Plot interactions: Top level here! Allura and Hunk both discussed it with him, but either voted for Bede or didn't vote. He was successful in swaying both Marik and Misaki, however! He also very definitely stole Ryan's ballot and used it to help the cause. He was in no way handed that willingly.

Oh, and he did ask one question that was intended to undermine Bede!

Rocket Name: Narancia Ghirga
Rocket Rank: Grunt
Requested Reward: First off, he's not going to say no if this somehow results in him getting a rank up! (He only successfully influenced one person, but the effort was there.)

Beyond that, he wouldn't mind getting a held item or a TM.

Plot interactions: Narancia had a prompt in his toplevel meant for vote influencing, and he did manage to influence Varian into voting for Malva! Beyond that, he also almost had both Bruno and Abbacchio also voting for Malva, but they both ended up voting Bede instead. Whoops?

Rocket Name: Steven Armstrong

Requested Reward: Rank Increase and/or Special Permission to take-on the position of Radio Personality

Plot interactions: Pretty much the entirety of Armstrong's Top-Level was meant to get passers-by to engage in debate about the candidates. While he got quite a few bites most of the players dropped the thread after a couple interactions so he didn't successfully change many minds. Still a lot of good conversation about it though, and he and Monsoon did succeed in influencing their tentmate, Chazz Princeton, to vote their way (easy as that may have been).

Plot interactions: Monsoon Top Level included a persuading option under the Dining Room but no one has replied to it. Discussed a possible heist with IV. Armin was already leaning towards voting for Malva but Monsoon tipped the iceberg.

Plot interactions: BECAUSE I WAS WORKING LITERALLY THE WHOLE VOTE PERIOD I have no threads ~~and most discussion was in plurks and discord~~ :[

But that aside, while Carly was ICly working her duff off to sway opinions, she doesn't think it's really fair to go requesting any prizes when, well. The mission technically failed. Booo, hiss.

That aside. Assuming Malva really did get along well with her (and Jolyne), she WILL ask if she'd mind keeping in touch off-work ~~Offscreen obviously, offscreen~~. Upper chain rocketeering is busy, she gets it, she trains grunts to be slightly more competent as a job for crying out loud. Sometimes there just isn't time for a shopping trip or a drink.

She also notes that, per usual, she'll pass what she can on from any aurora league meetings. It's no foot in the door of the E4, but it's still something?

As compensation for the work completed during Prom, Doppio will receive a level 10 Deino. The little tyke comes complete with a collar that proclaims his name is 'Nugget'. (who did they steal this one from?) Doppio is free to change that name if he wants, though it must be said that 'Nugget' is very stubborn.

As compensation for his excellent work done during prom, Min-Gi Park will receive both the item Leftovers as well as the reusable TM Echoed Voice.

The admin handing these over will pat Min-Gi on the shoulder, congratulate him on the good crime, and implies that they are looking forward to seeing the rest of his rocket career play out.

For the work accomplished during prom, as well as other recent crimes, Narancia will receive a rank up to Private. Up and at 'em, Incineroar!

As compensation for his work done at Prom, the Rocket Admins have taken his request to become part of the radio crew under consideration and... approved it!

Owing to the fact that he is still a relatively new member of the team, they'll be starting him out on a graveyard slot, Monday to Friday. It's obviously not the most ideal slot, but if he proves himself through good hosting and more crime, he might just get promoted to one of the more popular/daytime slots.

The Admins are very impressed by Monsoon's work, especially seeing as he is such a new recruit. As such, he'll be receiving an Alolan Geodude with the Hidden Ability Galvanize. She's level 15 and eager for crime.

As compensation for her work done during prom--

No, wait.

Though Carly did not contribute much during prom, afterwards, she'll be approached by the Admins. While they got very close to getting their plant into the Elite Four, they fear the failure was due to a lack of more subtle rocket skills. As such, they will inform Carly, that for the coming summer months, they'll be sending two extra grunts to her training facility (making it a total of six). Of course, she'll also receive extra compensation for this, but also. More work.

Rocket Rank: Grunt
Requested Reward: Either a rank up or a pokemon would be nice!

Plot interactions: Toplevel here! While IV ended up talking to several people, most of them had already decided who they would vote for or were swayed by other rockets before him (Armin, Chazz). Heck, he even tried to use reverse psychology! In the end he succeeded where he expected it the least, mainly by accidentally giving Ryou and Seto that push they were needing to settle on voting for Malva for sure.

All this voting business, fairy love and chances to gather information about the Top 4, their abode at the Falls and about Bede in particular gave him an idea about a potential little 'plot' to propose to his Rocket higher-ups once the Prom is over and communicating with them will be a bit easier again. He has started discussing things with Armstrong and Monsoon to see if the things needed for his little scheme would actually be available yet.

Besides that, he might have also upset his date by using most of his time at the Falls hunting for rare or high level pokemon (see toplevel) to turn in to Team Rocket. His date might have murdered him for that one. >.>; ~~no pool adventures and accidental cloth accidents were involved, he swears!~~

Ahem- SHE WILL TRAIN THEM WELL....SHE'S GOT THIS....

He's still a bit too green behind the ears for the admins to give him a rank up just yet, however, they are more than happy to supply him with a new pokemon for all his dastardly deeds.

IV will be receiving a level 18 Shuppet with the egg-move Destiny Bond. The Shuppet is also holding a one-time use Ghost Gem.

He will cherish her (as much as a nihilist can cherish something), come up with a witty name, and go commit some crime.

Vinegar Doppio

CURRENT RANK: Private

REQUESTED REWARD: Promotion to Beta! It's happening!!! (He hopes it's happening.)

JUSTIFY THE REWARD: ~~Diavolo~~ Doppio has had quite enough of putting up with the Legendary Seekers with nothing to show for it save for one annoying intern and... a number of credible leads on rare Pokémon that is probably above zero but below one.

A couple of months ago, he decided to start actively leveraging his position to bear more tangible fruit for Team Rocket, and it's finally begun paying off. The crime is a simple one: embezzlement. The method, too, is simple: request funding for research and expeditions, put a small part of it to its "intended" use, and send the rest directly to Team Rocket.

~~Most of the rest, anyway. Is it really skimming off the top if the Legendary Seekers are giving him the money in the first place?~~

It's simple enough as to be essentially a proof-of-concept, albeit one that is having results, and some might argue this amounts to little more than attempting to buy a promotion... but Doppio will point out, in a very eloquent email, that the Legendary Seekers could continue to be useful in ways such as these. For instance, if they started selling merchandise, could Team Rocket not take the opportunity to engage in a little money laundering? Think about it!

After they failed to get Malva into the Elite Four, the Rocket Admins are just eager to see anything that does succeed. Maybe this isn't the flashy, explosions and destroyed gyms sort of thing, but it brings a steady flow of cash into Team Rocket, and all they have to do is take it from a couple of dorks. It's like taking Hidden Candy from a Baby Pokemon!

Doppio will indeed be receiving his promotion to Beta. He'll also be receiving a few books to go along with it: 'Embezzling and you!' 'Making the Pyramid (scheme) work for you!' and 'Accounting and other creative exercises!' all written by some guy Cal A. Pone. Just in case Doppio needs some extra know-how on how to embezzle more and better.

Vinegar Doppio & Min-Gi Park

CURRENT RANK: Beta & Grunt, respectively

REQUESTED REWARD: No specific requests - surprise us!

JUSTIFY THE REWARD: Doppio is not the most skilled battler, but he does like to think he's a little better at crime than most people here. ... It isn't a high bar, and he'll acknowledge this himself, but hey. Anyway, the point is - when the Stamp Rally is announced, he figures he's better off putting his actual skills to use, rather than even entertaining the pretense of legitimacy. Even if he doesn't engage in direct combat, however - and he knows he shouldn't; any member of the Aurora League is bound to defeat him in a Pokémon battle - it's still not a great idea to try and rob a gym all by his lonesome, let alone during an event.

Unfortunately, the only otherworlder Rocket in the vicinity of his target, the Lunar Gym, is Min-Gi. That's okay, they'll make it work.

Initially, Doppio had his sights set on the Shell Bells that the gym offers as a prize to successful challengers - it's a useful item in battle, which sounds like just the right thing to keep buttering up the higher ranks of Team Rocket - but unfortunately, the mere fact that it's a reward reserved for the best of the best makes it more inaccessible than the regular rally prizes. Or even, say... the many, many eggs lying around. So why not go for those instead? With so many of them, and taking into account Cecil's prowess as a trainer, they're bound to have something good.

Since they're trying to play it safe, their approach is a stealthy one, taking advantage of the gym's gardens to avoid detection by the Pokémon on guard duty or other people. And it's not as if they have to go too far inside - these eggs really are all over the place. In the end, the two of them make off with a total of five eggs:

- a Cleffa that turns out to have a truly terrifying moveset (After You, Charm, Curse, Double-Edge, Draining Kiss, Encore, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Incinerate, Magical Leaf, Metronome, Play Rough, Pound, Psychic, Return, Rollout, Round, Safeguard, Seismic Toss, Signal Beam, Solar Beam, Sweet Kiss, Water Pulse, Wish)
- another Cleffa (Captivate, Natural Gift, Return, Round, Solar Beam, Splash)
- a Budew, also scary (Captivate, Energy Ball, Flash, Rain Dance, Return, Round, Shadow Ball, Solar Beam, Sunny Day, Swift, Weather Ball)
- Two perfectly normal Caterpie (Bug Bite, String Shot). They're two of the three eggs Doppio grabs, because that's just how his luck works.

The Rocket Admins are decently pleased to receive a batch of eggs. True, Cleffa and Budew aren't necessarily the kind of pokemon they look for, for their recruits, but with as many moves as they have, they can still make a pretty poke-dollar selling them on. The Caterpies... are also there.

As a reward, Min-Gi and Doppio both receive a small monetary bonus, a good mark on their records and an egg. It's the Caterpies. They both will receive one of the Caterpies they stole. Get Butterfreed, recruits!

Vinegar Doppio

CURRENT RANK: Beta

REQUESTED REWARD: A promotion to Alpha! As promised!!

JUSTIFY THE REWARD: Well, he was assigned a mission, and by god, he did it! Despite lacking legitimate access to Mt Silver, Doppio's team was sturdy enough to keep him safe and alive for most of the time he spent up there. Before he encountered some difficulties and was forced to retreat, he managed to capture four Pokémon: Drilbur, Toedscruel, Jangmo-o and Hatterene^(*). He managed to retrieve his Pokéballs before he could shake the Steelix chasing him, but the jerk broke out of everything he threw at it. Stupid beefy Pokémon.

Anyway, sure, he nearly ~~died~~ whited out, but he made it back with a handful of Pokémon and without breaking his cover, so... surely that's worth something! R-Right?

(* I rolled the dice a few times for these so I hope they're acceptable wheezes)

Approved!

As promised, Doppio will be receiving his much desired promotion to Alpha. In addition to the normal perks and pros associated with the rank, the Admin in charge of processing his promotion also does a little office collection and gets Doppio an generous basket of reusable handwarmers, as she can only imagine he is still feeling cold from his experiences, even if he is back home in the criminal nest now.
