Rocket Missions V.2

Welcome, valued Team Rocket member! Pursuing a career in the greatest organization of all time, eh? Well, you're in the right place!

This is the hub where you will find information on all team Missions. As stated in the Code of Conduct, all Rocket agents must be available to accept at least one mission at all times. They won't all be glamorous or exciting, but even mopping floors in one of the bases can lead to greater things! Team Rocket offers work in a variety of fields, with the primary openings being in four specific categories: maintenance, field work, science, and of course, the goal of most aspiring agents, leadership.

  • Maintenance: Brand new agents will likely be handed these jobs before anything else, as they're the easiest and least likely to result in police attention if you screw them up! They can include things like janitorial and laundry work in the bases, or serving fellow agents in the cafeteria.
  • Field Work: The most common missions take place in the field! Theft (whether it's as small as shoplifting some Potions or as big as participating in a full-scale heist) falls into this category, as does the simplest available mission, Pokemon acquisition. Anything you do to benefit the team outside of official Rocket premises can be considered field work!
  • Science: Science mission work mostly takes place out of the public eye, in official Rocket laboratories. The perfect field for more technically-minded agents, these jobs can include anything from pioneering new technology to experimentation on Pokemon themselves. Or it can be as dull as data entry. Grab a lab coat and see what you get!
  • Leadership: Getting sick of sharing those dorms? How does a private helicopter sound? Agents with lofty aspirations and a good work ethic may advance through the ranks and claim authority for themselves, earning swanky privileges, and more underlings to boss around than you can shake a stick at. This isn't to say that higher status doesn't come with its own responsibilities-- "Privates" and "Betas" are still expected to accomplish other missions (though usually not the maintenance ones-- that's grunt work), and even "Alphas" will usually work in the field. 'Leadership' jobs can even include tasks that just happen to require both specialized skills and a certain amount of trustworthiness to the Team. The main difference is tackling missions from an organizational, independent-thinking standpoint rather than just following orders-- YOU'RE the boss now!! Go put the fear of Arceus in some new recruits!

NOTE: Team Rocket members who have not requested a specific mission (either listed or individual) will be considered on Pokemon-collecting duty and will not appear on this list.

    CARLY NAGISA (Retired character)
  • STATION: Two Island
  • JOB: Intelligence Gathering, Base Establishment
  • NOTES: After successfully mapping the Whirl Islands, Team Rocket was more than happy to approve of Carly's requested reassignment to the Sevii Islands. After their first failed attempt at establishing a presence on the islands, Carly's reassignment will hopefully be laying the foundations for new Rocket base in this part of the region.

  • Vinegar Doppio ([personal profile] epitaffio)
  • STATION: In the field
  • JOB: Infiltration / information gathering.
  • NOTES:Though broadly speaking a group of enthusiastic nutjobs, the Legendary Seekers are still Johto and Kanto's prime hotspot for information on Legendary pokemon. Sure, 95% of it might just be blurry pictures and bull, but it is that 5% Team Rocket is after. Doppio has been assigned to infiltrate the group as a regular member and keep his ear to the ground regarding any rumours about Legendary Pokemon locations, sighting or items related to them. Of course, he will be expected to only report on actual viable leads, and not every blurry picture of someone's Ursaring walking through the forest.

  • Min-Gi Park ([personal profile] outofsynth)
  • STATION: Vermilion City
  • JOB: Squirtle Supervisor
  • NOTES: There are a very small gang of Squirtles in Vermilion City that Min-Gi's trained up to recruit for Team Rocket within the city and the surrounding routes. For the moment recruitment's all they're doing, but maybe one day there will be more to this. There might also be a minor rivalry between the criminally inclined Squirtles doing it for themselves, and the ones with ties to the Rockets.

    REQUESTING A MISSION:

"Hard" missions will only be given upon demand, as they may come with specific instructions and usually require at least a "Beta" rank. On the other hand, "Regular" and "Easy" missions can be picked up anytime by any team members that meet the requirements, if there are any.

Individual, personalized missions (player-determined) can also be requested at any time, and may vary beyond just the 'official' locations above-- the listed missions are guidelines, not restrictions! Get creative-- you may find yourself rewarded handsomely!

Comment here to claim a mission by filling out the form below:

    REQUESTING A REWARD:

Let no one say that working for Team Rocket is thankless-- those who prove themselves worthy may request all manner of exciting rewards!

Maybe they've been distinguishing themselves by taking charge and deserve to move upward in the ranks, or maybe they pulled off a heist so impressive that Auntie Apricorn wants to give them a rare item from the Rocket vault! The greater the achievements, the better the loot!

Team Rocket has access to many resources and can even, depending on the request, offer rewards that aren't available via other means...

Comment here to request a reward by filling out the form below:

NOTE: The mods may deny a reward if it's unfeasible or if the character's accomplishments don't match the value of the reward (ie, spraypainting a totally sick burn on the side of the Cerulean City Police Department might get you some brownie points with the admins, but they're not gonna give you a shiny Pokemon for it.) If this happens, we will be happy to offer alternative rewards or suggestions of what it would take to earn the desired reward!

[[BUT IF I DON'T SEND THIS NOW RETAIL WILL EAT ME AGAIN,]]

    Rocket Name: Carly Nagisa
    Rocket Rank: Beta
Requested Reward: Considering her involvment, Carly doesn't aim especially high for the reward this time; she does likely 'haggle' an acceptable amount for the cash reward, but mostly that's for show.

Though she DOES remark that her three 'stealth pokemon' could use a pick-me-up for their own good work! (To be fair she's expecting something like a poffin each in that case)

Plot interactions: She sure did challenge Jane...Kinda, and also Messed around with Claude a bit, oop.

In any case, Carly primarily contributed pre-heist via a lot of planning. SO MUCH PLANNING. She probably put an actual honest effort into it, which is kind of inspiring.

At the heist, she didn't steal too too much, but for the most part that's because she focused on taking the heat off the many many grunts grabbing the goods. Ultimately, if she distracts a bunch of strong trainers while the weak grunts book it with the stuff, that gets Team Rocket a bigger profit than uh...trying to haul as much as she can while the grunts get chewed through like paper.

Still, she got some stuff, and even before the heist properly started, managed to slip a few stones into her pockets to make sure she still could. Pickpocketting isn't a thing she can afford to get rusty in!

    Rocket Name: Jules Thibault
    Rocket Rank: Grunt
    Requested Reward: Maybe a promotion?

Plot interactions: Jules's handwaved involvement in this largely consists of being The Tallest Elf who neglected to prepare and so ended up wearing clothes that were much too small and leaving him looking like an elf preparing for a flood. His actual threading largely consisted of getting his uniform stolen and proceeding to, uh, create a distraction as his Metagross and Porygon2 did a little looting and vandalizing.

Rocket Name: Steve "Punch Bag" Palchuk
    Rocket Rank: Private
Requested Reward: Whatever's deemed fair! Perhaps something that benefits one of his two most Rocket devoted Pokémon? Those being his Rocket starter Swampert, and the Haunter he originally got from Steven D.

    Plot interactions:

As a player my main goal here was to give the good guys some Rocket butt to kick, which essentially makes Steve a glorified punch bag for most of this. At least it takes the heat off some of the Grunts? Which definitely wasn't his intent, but hey.

    Links:
    - Kazuki
    - Shiro
    - Jane
    - Chip

Still! I'm sure he managed to steal some cash, along with whatever TMs or battle items he could grab. I doubt he was especially discerning with the loot, but some of his smarter Pokémon might have steered him in the right direction where they could. He also helped out a few of his fellow Rockets. Sort of.

(Okay, he tried to bully them. Except Scorpia who he now thinks is the coolest person ever.)

    Links:
    - Jules
    - Doppio
    - Scorpia

As far as handwaved things/happenings earlier in the month... Steve hangs out at the Goldenrod base a lot anyway when he's not in the road, so he was perfectly located to be playing one of Santa's elves there. Being Rocket loyalists Buttsnack the Swampert and Boo the Haunter may have tried to put in some extra effort off their own backs too. Being a ghost Boo has a nice advantage when it comes to being sneaky, which helps him seek out where the good stuff is. Buttsnack probably bullied Steve into not slacking off with his elf duties, and made sure he still met his quota for turning in stolen Pokémon even if that's not technically required when working on other missions. Sometimes you've just got to be mean to your trainer.

    Rocket Name: Dirk Strider
    Rocket Rank: Beta
Requested Reward: Reusable U Turn TM, any other TMs (reusable or otherwise.) Compatibility with Beedrill and/or Scyther preferred.

Plot interactions: On his way out, Dirk wasted no time stuffing his twenty-odd secret pockets with cashbox contents, expensive TMs, evolution stones, and various decorative accessories for both people and Pokemon. In the interest of making a point, he dramatically emptied every single pocket in front of the admins, just to show that he was handing over every last PokeCent and Pearl.

    Before that, though...

Despite the exemption granted by his rank, Dirk handmade himself a fancy Santa costume to wear, took off his shades(!), and decorated his Type:Null to match. This was done to disguise him from his son/brother Dave and his Alt Friend Jane (who is also a League Champion), but Dirk will report his motive differently: armed with a heavy, handmade solid wood candy cane, Dirk used his disguise to pick out offworlder Trainers and attack the problem of their interference directly. Which... is technically what he did. Admittedly, he didn't know the "real" "Santa Claus" was going to show up with a bunch of them, but offworlders are attracted to any kind of scene very quickly, and as they are often stronger Trainers AND disinclined to follow the Rules (which limit them to using their Pokemon over themselves as combatants), he was uniquely suited (ha) to run intervention on them.

His attack on Claude ended up a 2 vs 1 when Felix attacked Dirk for attacking Claude, but Dirk's Pokemon overpowered Santa's, and his Morpeko in particular kept Claude very busy while Dirk duelled Felix.

Chip Abaroa.... uh, look, Dirk doesn't love beating up kids, but this ALSO turned into a 2 vs 1 when Sylvain showed up to defend them from Dirk. See what he means about not playing by the Rules? Terrible. Absolutely a pain in the fucking ass. (Sylvain has not tagged in as of this posting but backtagging is for winners.)

He did convince Akane to be a little less zealous in her physical assault on Team Rocket's Grunts, slowing her down and giving the Grunts more time to stuff their pockets a bit and less cause to spend the next week in the Infirmary, complaining about missing teeth and concussions.

He also confronted Captain Ash, who was using his Pokemon to ensnare Grunts and take them out of commission. Again with that thing where he's trying to avert an Infirmary full of Grunts moaning about concussions and sore spots...

    Rocket Name: Scorpia
    Rocket Rank: Grunt
Requested Reward: She wants to be a better and more useful helper to her fellow Rockets (the otherworlders specifically!). This is followed by her rambling on about all the cool rewards Rockets can get and how they're all so wonderful, but she isn't sure what reward would help her most! But the Admins can figure that out, right? Because they're the Admins! Also, Steven D. is just the best boss and has been helping her and the others out so much! He should totally get an extra reward.

(OOCly: Promotion, a reusable TM(or an evolution item), or a special (HA/Shiny) Pokemon would all be awesome.)

    Plot interactions:
Pre-Heist: (all handwaved because December ate me, unfortunately)
--worked as an elf in Goldenrod for a while. Outshone her assigned Santa so much that the little kids started flocking to her instead of the Santa on duty
--Transferred to Mahogany for the last few days as a Santa, resulting in the birth of Princess Santa, come down to Johto to help her Granddad Santa out!
--collecting info on the Jennies of Goldenrod, as per her long-term assignment! She even got info on which Jennies would be on shift at the Market and their teams!

    Heist:
    Her Toplevel
    --includes tree redecorating duty
--further working on handling off-duty/reinforcement Jennies
--other shenanigans! (including getting into a fight with Akane)

Also challenging Shiro to a fistfight to protect the poor Grunt he clobbered.

    Rocket Name: Steven Durante
    Rocket Rank: Beta
Requested Reward: I mean, his big goal is to eventually make Alpha, whether by doing something big and showy or by just continuously putting in quality work for the Team. When it comes to rewards he'll probably mention that while he has no pressing wants at the moment beyond a surfeit of money and whatever the Team wishes to provide him with, he'd like it if they remembered his good work here for when he has been here long enough to be promoted. (And speaking of promotions, he'll likely put another good word in for his protege, Scorpia.)

(OOC: A shiny, reusable TM, or battle item are all lovely reward items, though.)

Plot interactions: So! Pre-heist stuff is basically going to have to be handwaved, but mostly Steven went in hard for planning and logistics in the weeks leading up to this. Did he have to do some telecommuting for it due to inheriting Fight Club just as the Christmas Heist planning went into action? Yeah, he did. But he damn well threw himself into the planning of shit. He even drew charts.

(He also did end up telling Doppio to come back to Goldenrod for the Christmas Market Job itself.)

During the Market heist itself, he was one of the higher ranked Rockets who was coordinating the grunts and privates on the ground. For this they'd equipped him with an earpiece, a mic and some high tech binoculars and he spent a lot of the heist perched up on a metal awning where he could see most of the market and directing the ebb and flow of the privates and grunts throughout, using a private Rocket communications frequency.

Unsurprisingly, a few Trainers did end up climbing up to his perch to bother him and distract him from his job, most notably Armin, Kirishima and Chip... the last of which he returned to their father once he soundly defeated the kiddo in battle. He also might have abducted a mysterious superhero via his Xatu in order to question him.

Besides that, Steven came down from his perch a couple times to aid various other Rockets who'd come into trouble... or in one case to investigate a very suspicious personage. He distracted Shiro so that the Rockets that Shiro had been menacing could run away, he helped Jules get free of his sweater prison while doing some looting on the side, and then he confronted Claude about his sneaking around in Rocket disguise. Oh and he tried to recruit the other Rocket impersonator, since that one was actually helping the team.

Although theft wasn't his primary objective, he did what looting he could when coming down from his perch for various reasons, stuffing it into various pouches and eventually a sack.

    Rocket Name: Vinegar Doppio
    Rocket Rank: Private
Requested Reward: As always, he's angling for a promotion - totally out of loyalty to the team, and very definitely not to serve anybody else's purposes! (OOCly, though, absolutely anything is fine.)

Plot interactions: Doppio did his very best from the beginning, and that includes playing a good undercover Santa! Looking silly isn't detrimental to the job, is it?

(He did waste some time on at least one bathroom break... but on the bright side, this conversation gave him a better idea of what kinds of valuable items he might be able to find in the Christmas Market! That counts as productive, right?)

On the day of the heist itself, Doppio continued to do his best, in great part by making use of his experience as a criminal. As always, he is good at blending in, and when the disguises come off he's prepared well enough that he can steal at least a few valuable items. The real problem is his lack of experience as a trainer; his Pokémon could deal with ordinary security staff adequately enough, but they were surely no match for offworlders who have been here for far, far longer.

He also clashed with a fellow Rocket and legitimately tried, but ultimately failed to catch an imposter.

    Rocket Name: Emet-Selch
    Rocket Rank: Private
Requested Reward: Either a rank up, or perhaps a useful reusable TM? I'm not saying volt switch, but I'm also not not saying volt switch.

Plot interactions: While the initial planning had little to do with Emet personally, he definitely rose to the occasion once it kicked off. Taking the place of one of the Santas initially, he let loose his Yamasks, cofagrigus, and Zoroark to stealthily pilfer TMs, cash, and anything valuable they could get their mitts on. However, when the commotion with the actual Santa showing up to oppose them, Emet kept to opposing the little would be heroes.

With his two Rotom powered magitek bits, he took advantage of the fighting, netting up released Pokémon and carrying them off towards Team Rocket drop points to be ushered away from the scene and back to headquarters. He also scared the hell outta Akane and drew her away from the fighting for a little while. He likewise defused situations, assisting grunts who otherwise couldn't handle the ruckus, or rambunctious children...apparently.

His primary aim was to offer support during the whole confrontation by taking out Pokémon either through combat, or literally removing them from the fight by capturing them in true Anime Team Rocket fashion (though with much more competence). Or a mix of both! After all, it's a lot easier to transport stolen pokémon when they're in no condition to resist! All the while donning a dramatic villain persona, which could very well help demoralize the good guys, when he's so unshaken in his confidence, and backing it up with his gaggle of ghost Pokémon.

Unfortunately a lot of this has to be handwaved, but between the ghosts thieving the market, and Emet capturing Pokémon on the scene, and likewise fighting off some of the resistance so that others can make off with their own misbegotten goods... he's made a pretty decent contribution to the heist!
