    Character
    Name: Arthur Kingsmen
    Series: Mystery Skulls Animated
    Timeline: post-Hellbent
    Canon Resource Links: Here!

Personality: Arthur is, at first glance, the Shaggy of his group. He's visibly an anxious person at the best of times, and he's especially nervous about the paranormal happenings that fascinate his friends. Frankly, he's...not that pleased about being dragged along for the ride. But he never protests, and never even seems to let his unhappiness show when his friends are looking. He just goes along. More than that, he's contributed to the Mystery Skulls a lot - it's his van that they drive around in, for all that he doesn't call any of the shots.

Honestly, Arthur doesn't have very good self-esteem. His family situation seems difficult, and he doesn't seem to have any real friends outside of Vivi and Arthur. That's a large part of the reason that he never seems to try to stick up for himself more. It's not to say that the others deliberately walk all over him - they just pull him along with their enthusiasm, and he lets them. He's too attached to them to risk rocking the boat. Though the others know he's nervous and maybe doesn't really love the whole paranormal investigator schtick, Arthur has pretty poor communication and deliberately obfuscates his more negative feelings, particularly about Vivi and Lewis's relationship and how it makes him feel like the thirdest of wheels. His go-to seems to be to just repress anything bad until a demon exploits that to possess him or something.

    You know. Hypothetically.

Things have changed a lot for Arthur since the trauma of Lewis's disappearance and his own injury. He's uncovered a determined streak, working on a solo quest to find his missing friend. He has no support in this; Vivi's forgotten that Lewis existed at all, and given that enough time has passed for Arthur to fully recover from traumatic limb loss and build himself a robot arm, everyone else has probably given Lewis up for dead. But Arthur is both extremely loyal and incredibly stubborn. He will not give up.

This isn't particularly good for him. Arthur's always been more than willing to prioritize others. Once, he just ignored his own feelings and went on stressful and upsetting ghost hunts; not great, but ultimately fine at the end of the day. These days, his disregard for his own physical and emotional limits is starting to look pretty reckless. He hardly sleeps anymore, both due to trauma and the fact that he's now doing a lot of his own obsessive paranormal research, so that he can throw himself into any situations where he might find Lewis again. It's honestly sort of self-destructive? He hasn't even gotten over his fear of the paranormal with repeated exposure. It's just something he keeps on pushing himself through.
His certainty that Lewis is alive also seems to border on unhealthy; he doesn't seem to consider the possibility that Lewis might actually just be dead, even when he encounters a ghost that significantly resembles Lewis. He also pretty much continually exposes himself to triggers by having Mystery around all the time, so. We're not taking care of ourselves at all here.

Aside from all that, though, he's really not the worst person you could have on a rescue quest for you. Arthur is extremely intelligent and resourceful, particularly when it comes to machines. He's built multiple prosthetics, both for himself and his pet hamster, without any of the resources one might normally need to make robot limbs. His anxiety has gotten much, much worse since the cave incident, to the point where he's easily triggered just by the sight of Mystery's teeth, even though he doesn't remember that Mystery's the one who bit off his arm and thinks he's just a regular dog. Still, he brings himself to reach out when he sees that Mystery is upset; his loyalty and compassion always wins out over his fear.

    Character
    Name: Aki Izayoi
    Series: Yu-Gi-Oh 5DS
Timeline: Episode 64, right before she summons the Black Rose Dragon.
    Canon Resource Links: https://yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Akiza_Izinski

Personality: At the point that I am taking her from in canon, Aki Izayoi is just completing some rapid character development. The first half of the series, up until literally about twenty episodes before her canon point, Aki had a split personality. The first one was a reserved, isolated, and moody teenage woman. She has no friends outside of Divine, a manipulative cult leader who wishes to use her psychic abilities to manifest Yu-Gi-Oh cards to lead an army of psychic warriors (no, I am not kidding). Upon meeting Yusei and seeing him possess a similar mark to the one she has, she tells him to leave him alone before disappearing into a dramatic explosion. When she sees her parents living a perfectly fine life without her, she destroys their house with her psychic powers and runs off. Her harsh, cold temperament has only led her to believe that Divine can help her get her powers under control, as her emotional state and psyche continuously materialize dueling monsters that she, as a child, proceeds to assault both family members and classmates with.

The other personality is one meant to deal with the guilt of inflicting so much pain by being unable to control her abilities. This persona is called the “Black Rose Witch” and is an openly sadistic opponent who relishes in hurting others. The contrast between these two personalities is best seen in the Fortune Cup arc. Before dueling, Aki expresses worry that someone will be hurt with her dueling before Divine encourages her and says it is necessary for the Arcadia movement. Her opponent is a man who attempts to use her past against her by calling her a monster who was abandoned by her parents, which she retorts by blasting with a beam of psychic rose petals with no confirmation if he survives after.

Before her radical character development, Divine was really the only motivation and sense of support/stability she had. She’d take direction only from him - becoming catatonic and broadly homicidal after seeing him get blasted out a window and fall stories to his death. She attempts to duel Yusei saying she will “find a place for everyone”. It’s probably the same place she leaves other duelists: the hospital.

What changes this so quickly? What turns her from a deeply unstable teenaged menace to your standard plucky trading card game tv show’s protagonist?

The real-life answer is a lot. The Yu-Gi-Oh Movie was coming out, splitting the team, multiple rewrites were ordered to promote new cards, Aki’s voice actress requested time off her wedding, and, also, remember that cult plot line? The plotlines were shuffled, merged and dropped due to a controversy involving one of characters in that plot actually being in a real-life cult, causing even more rewrites. I am only adding this because, otherwise, there isn’t a lot of context to Aki suddenly going from someone who might have had an on-screen kill in a childhood’s television show to who she is after.

As far as canon goes, Yusei, like most Yu-Gi-Oh main characters, has the ability to just beat the good into you. Once your life points hit 0 from a Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist, so does your desire to commit evil. Aki nearly attacks him and her dad with one of her Psychic but Real Monsters™ but discovers how to control her monster at the last-minute while, to her knowledge, Divine is still dead and this helps her move forward. They also ended the cult plot unceremoniously by having Divine swallowed by a reptilian monster (also a Yu-Gi-Oh card) after being tricked into revealing to everyone that was monstrously evil (and also alive from his hundred foot fall) all along. Aki who is actually facing that Yu-Gi-Oh card/reptilian monster in a duel that determines the fate of humanity, seems completely unfazed by his death and does not spare it a second thought despite promising to kill everything in her path (as child appropriately as possible, given the fact this is still Yu-Gi-Oh) less than twenty episodes earlier.

Aki after this “defeat into friendship” from Yusei is much more of a standard protagonist. Her friends, including Yusei, have provided the real stability she always lacked. Her emotions are much more in control and she is more naturally empathetic. Upon both her and Misty, a woman who tried to take Aki’s life multiple times in vengeance for her brother, learning that Aki was not responsible for Misty’s brother’s death, Aki and Misty attempt to stop the duel only for Misty’s evil form to push her into continuing the duel. Afterwards, she mourns Misty’s disappearance. Her view on her powers and abilities changes too. She no longer views her abilities as a curse or a personal trigger and when her powers vanish (for reasons never explained) after her full personality reform (for reasons barely explained) she is distressed by their absence. She realizes that she’s able to still help people on her own without them, and then gets them back towards the end of the series, using her powers to protect her friends and her opponent (who was also trying to kill her) from falling debris.
She comes to the frequent aid of Rua and Ruka, two much younger friends, while they attend Duel Academy. Attempting to harm children, which was one a casual hobby for her, evokes her running towards the action to defend them. Her newfound sense of compassion inspires her to become a doctor at the series end.

Despite this, Aki is not really an animated individual at all outside of her presentation even after Yusei’s victory against her. She is staid in both speech and mannerisms, being able to keep her cool and strategize while both in dangerous situations (like facing villains in card games, and facing villains in card games on motorcycles aka turbo duels) and in situations that are more obnoxious than dangerous (as shown in the episode where she takes on a bunch of turbo duelists because they thought it was a male only sport). The only time she is truly outwardly passionate is when she is fretting and worrying over Yusei, either because he is in danger or receiving attention from another woman or friend. In both circumstances, her temper comes out and she’s not above threatening even other close allies. In some ways, Yusei provided her the dream she wanted when she was younger of being a normal girl. For the rest of the series after she starts to control her powers, her personality is a lot more in line with a mild-mannered teenaged girl instead of a homicidal maniac. She’s much more reserved, insecure, gentle and supportive of all the men around her who seem to end up with much more interesting plot lines, with Aki dueling maybe only 2-3 more times before the series is over.

Considering how I will be taking her from the canon point just after her miraculous recovery, I’d like to portray her as somewhere more towards who she is after befriending Yusei and learning how to control her powers. I think her choosing to focus on Misty over Divine does speak a lot to just how quickly she was able to process and re-examine things from another point of view. Carly’s presence and canon point can also facilitate a more grounding experience where it’s more realistic that she will be on this path more than the 16-year-old homicidal maniac with the secret sadistic split personality. If there was a manipulative enough villain with great branding for their cult, I think that would really be the only way for her to revert back where she was at the start of the series (outside of an event where these changes are possible).

Victory Road Sample: Aki’s eyes transfix on the field of play ahead of her. She’s pretty used to fighting with monsters, and, by the standards of her world, even has some experience fighting with real ones. However, unlike the days of the past where she could freely hurt as she wanted, she is on a very different path as of late.
After years of not being able to control her powers and causing multiple injuries to duelists in her home world, both intentional and accidental, Aki finally learned how to control and manifest her powers while making sure they could not injure an ally.

And then she woke up here. Not trusting the explanation (or mother) given, she headed down the only route available with her companion, Budew, before being accosted by another one of the monsters she’s heard about. With the awareness it, too, is living, Aki has been standing in place for the better chunk of two hours, still deciding upon her first move. She takes a leap of faith, hoping her monster does not obliterate what is standing before her like times previous.
    “Budew. Use vine whip!”

The eight-inch Pokémon flies out two vines, slapping the Pidgey with the force of getting hit in the face by a balloon. Pidgey tilts its head in confusion, Budew develops a sweat drop, or possibly dew drop, at the anticlimactic result.
“Oh… that didn’t seem to do anything at all,” the complete failure brings Aki a sense of relief. Whether her powers have been weakened, rendering those around her safe, or whether her monster is truly that pathetic of a creature is not a question that has crossed her mind yet. Her revelation that these monsters are harmless causes her to take a miniature hop forward in excitement, basking in the thrill of the discovery. It’s a very short-lived moment, as the Pidgey proceeds to bat it away and into the air with a whirlwind.

"Bya-Dewww," The small bud of a Pokémon is ejected from the battlefield, as Aki quickly finds herself in the middle of Budew and the wild Pidgey.

"Oh... Wait! Budew!" Aki turns her back on the bird as she rushes back to Budew's location. The Pidgey seems content to just fly off. Never expecting to once in her life be defeated by a common bird of any kind, Aki helps her companion get back up.

"I guess if there's a nice part about being alone; it's that no one saw that," She might miss her brand new companions back in her home world, but she definitely would not miss the teasing that would brew from such a failure.

    Character
    Name: Rei Ayanami (II)
    Series: Neon Genesis Evangelion
    Timeline: Episode 23
Canon Resource Links: The Deep Mysteries of EVA

    Personality:
Rei Ayanami is almost impossible to define, mainly because she refuses to do any defining at all. Speaking with her is often an uncomfortable experience. Rei barely talks, almost never blinks, and has subdued and flat expressions whenever she has expressions at all. When Shinji broke into her room and accidentally copped a feel, Rei showed absolutely no reaction whatsoever. Unless you're paying very close attention, Rei's thoughts and feelings are a complete mystery.

It is therefore easy to assume Rei does not have them. Indeed, she spends almost the entirety of her screen time following orders without complaint. She appears close to Gendo Ikari, even shown smiling while interacting with him, and every single combat order is followed with speed. She first appears literally covered head to toe in bandages. When Gendo threatens to send her into battle if Shinji won't comply, she attempts to stand and obey the order. No matter how terrifying or horrifying the circumstances, or the fact that her EVA unit has a tendency towards going completely berserk, she does what she is told and seems to take pride in it.

Because she doesn't speak very much, the words she does say make a big impact. Rei comes across as extremely blunt, even if that isn't her intention, because she does not disguise her speech with any sort of politeness. Interacting with Asuka for more than a minute leads to Asuka completely flipping a shit at her because Rei won't talk enough for her. She's prone to calmly dissecting the people she interacts with, with pinpoint accuracy to boot. Her flat affect does her no favors. Her observations sound like judgment, and her statements are easy to interpret as insults. Sometimes she even means them as insults, as passive aggressive behavior is one of the few ways she has of demonstrating her displeasure.

Rei doesn't speak very often, so when she does, it bears the weight of thought behind it. Rei is always thinking. When we hear her narrate the first recap episode, it's full of weighty metaphors about her situation and her observations of all the characters she's met thus far. She thinks in terms of images and separate pieces, which she then combines into a whole. Apart from Gendo himself, she knows the most about his plans, as she is critical to almost all of them. The single most important thing to know about Rei Ayanami that if you listen to her, she will tell you everything you need to know. You just have to be listening. One of her very first lines is the admission that "if she dies, she can be replaced." This turns out to be one hundred percent literally true. In fact, the reason she’s so attached to Gendo initially is because she almost died and he didn’t replace her when her test of the EVA malfunctioned.

Rei’s many issues are caused, almost entirely, by being a horrible abomination who should not exist. She knows it, too. She’s kept deliberately isolated from others, so she has no idea what emotions are or how to show them. She has died before, and it’s highly implied that this soul is currently residing in her EVA unit. Notably, she died as a child when she insulted Naoki Akagi, which would explain why her second form is almost compulsively deferential to others.
Particularly Gendo. The first emotion she shows in the series is anger, when she slaps Shinji for insulting him. Still, it’s worth noting that Rei forms strong connections to others, almost despite herself, and she changes through them. She is unable to destroy the EVA with Toji in it because he was kind to her earlier, and she sacrifices herself to save Shinji Ikari because of the kindness he’s shown to her throughout the entire series. When the 16th Angel makes contact with her mind, it breaks her down and forces her to confront her deep and endless loneliness.

The destruction of all her clones is quite possibly the best thing that's ever happened to her. Her willingness to put up with Gendo's bullshit reduces to about .02 seconds, and after a pep talk from Kaworu shortly before his death, comes to embrace free will and overthrow Gendo's evil plan by kicking control over it to Shinji, and then proceeds to talk Shinji out of the ensuing nervous breakdown. She still thinks of herself as a crime against nature, and doesn’t view herself as having any additional worth or value, but she does gain the ability to make choices. They aren’t futile if they can’t be erased this time. She’s learned in even the smallest possible way that she is only herself.

    Character
    Name: Huey Duck
    Series: DuckTales
    Timeline: Post-"The Last Adventure"
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki Link

Personality: Huey is, at his core, a leader, even if only one in his own mind. He aspires to be the one in charge, the one who has all the answers and can take on any situation. This has caused him grief and the occasional breakdown whenever he's not on top of things, but he'll usually get it in the end. A lot of this stems from him being the eldest triplet (even if only by three seconds), which has made him the self-appointed leader of himself and his brothers. He likes to make the plans and schedules (down to the minute), likes studying and reading so he knows everything about anything, and seems particularly fond of giving advice and help, even when it's not necessarily wanted. This, at first, made him rather rigid and prone to said freakouts whenever control slipped out, though he loosened up and refined his skills over the course of the series.

Besides being incredibly book smart, Huey is also heart smart, even if sometimes less than he thinks he is. He is all about the concept of love; sometimes this is romantic, like the times he's played matchmaker, but often this is also platonic. He cares a lot, and when the chips are down you can count on Huey Duck to fight for you. He'll do anything for his brothers especially, since each other is about all they had for the longest time. Huey loves family, friendships and just loves being loved. Some of this could be argued as pushback, mind. Because he so rigidly caretakes his brothers and his friends, often he's seen as annoying or even stodgy. This can make him feel unwanted but usually he'll just double down into it harder. In this like in everything else Huey's learning balance, and he's at least somewhat better than he was earlier in the series. After all he's just a kid, and still learning himself and how the world works.

If nothing else though, Huey has at least managed his temper. You know how Donald Duck is famous for his flights of rage? In the triplets that's Huey. He had a little ball of anger inside him that he struggled with for the longest time, until finally learning how to manage it and accept that the "Duke of Making a Mess" (as termed by himself in one such tantrum) is as much a part of himself as anything else. While his temper could make him unpredictable, he's working to use it for better things, like protecting those he loves.

Overall Huey is intelligent, caring, temperamental, and adventurous, perfect for sharing a family with the likes of Scrooge McDuck.

Victory Road Sample: Getting used to the whole "human" thing had been a stretch. Some might find that surprising, that the whole "other world" thing went over him like, well, water off a duck's back. But it was more getting used to being taller and having a completely different way of balancing and locomoting that had gotten him. However much he might've looked like a new baby Deerling at first, he had to get over it quickly. Had to, because there was SCIENCE to be done!

At the moment Huey was out at the edge of a route, sitting in the short grass (on top of one of his towels to prevent nasty stains, hard enough to get out at home, IMPOSSIBLE on the road). He had a notebook open across his lap and was furiously making notes, muttering under his breath all the while. Nearby bobbed his Castform, watching the sky. He startled when Huey let out a sudden "Aha!" and turned to face him, watching him stand up.

"Alright! I've gotten the hypothesis written down." Huey, all grins, closed his notebook with a snap and balanced it on top of his backpack. He scooped up a Psyduck-shaped watering can and held it over Castform's head. "Ready, Cavendish?" His smile widened at the enthusiastic chirp from his partner, and he tipped the watering can over. A veritable downpour went down, soaking Cavendish-

And that was it. Huey glanced around at him, pulling back the watering can, then flinching back with a surprised sound when Cavendish shook the water off like a Lillipup. He clicked his tongue, then resumed his position, spreading open the notebook again. Tapping the pen twice, he then started to write. "Remote... watering... seemed to... have... no... effect. Castform... remained in his default... Normal... state. Will try... other... methods."

The notebook was closed again and he put it away and shouldered his backpack all in one smooth motion. Smiling, he picked up his towel and, taking both ends, dried off Cavendish. "Well, I suppose that might count as a bath." An amused sound from the Pokemon, and Huey laughed softly. "Alright, I think the sun will get everything-" He paused, blinking. "Hmm. I wonder if there's a garden center around here..."

Idea in mind he started charging off down the road. Cavendish blinked then squeaked, flying off after him.

    Sandalphon on the GBF wiki
What Makes the Sky Blue Event Page (includes links to the other two parts to the trilogy)

    Personality:
Sandalphon is a serious, goal oriented, and (very) stubborn angel, and always comes off as abrasive, but deep down is a gentle soul who cares a lot more than he lets on. He’s sharp tongued and snarky, but rarely means anything by the insults he throws at people. It’s just his way of showing he cares. Even so, when someone does manage to push his buttons, his fury is nigh-unstoppable. There’s really no middle ground when it comes to Sandalphon’s emotions. It comes from a lack of proper understanding of emotions, due to living most of his very long existence in solitude.

His 2,000 year prison sentence shows how much he missed through his lack of understanding of human cultures and norms. Due to Lucifer’s sparse visits and his life as a ‘caged bird’, there was only so much he learned through books and other time killers, but due to time being so fleeting to him, he doesn’t consider himself an expert on cultures. Sandalphon’s only gotten most of the knowledge he has through living on the Grandcypher and interacting with for crew for some time. There are still times where he questions most holidays and customs, such as why do people celebrate New Years, when to him it’s same old, same old. He tries to learn so he can stop getting such strange looks from others, but it does shine through. But through those lessons, he’s learned that everything has a reason for existing.

Once his mind is set on a goal, he pushes forward to meet that goal, no matter how many times it takes to get it done, and even if it’s to his own detriment. This goal-oriented nature makes it hard for him to catch onto any jokes or just be with others in general, as he wants his mission done as quickly as possible with no means of stopping. This also makes it hard for him to understand others, much less get along with those with more carefree personalities. But, he did manage to make friends with a dragon who’s the epitome of carefree, so it’s definitely possible.

He’s constantly trying his best to understand others, as the lack of communication between both Sandalphon and Lucifer is what caused Sandalphon’s two thousand year prison sentence and Lucifer’s untimely death. He silently fears that lack of communication, but he still finds it hard to voice his emotions in proper words. When push comes to shove, however, he can still manage to express himself properly in order to make sure that never happens again. After all, it was only during the battle with Lucilius, during a near death situation does he tell the Captain that yes, he does want to protect the Sky Realm, but because he wants to, not because he’s obligated to.

His kindness is much more subtle, however, as his prison sentence and his desire for revenge stifled the kindness in his heart. That doesn’t mean it’s gone, however. It just manifests in smaller, more subtle ways. This is most easily reflected in how he pays attention to the details of one’s coffee preferences. Coffee means a lot more than just a drink to Sandalphon, and if he truly cares for a person, he will make strides into making the best coffee for them. But to get to that point, Sandalphon really has to know the person, and even like them to some degree, which that alone is a hard bargain. But hey, if those who used to hate him in the Grandcypher crew grew to love him, then it is 100% possible.

    Name: Eri
    Series: My Hero Academia
Timeline: End of Joint Training Arc (Chapter 217)
Canon Resource Links: Eri’s Wiki Page

Personality: Eri is a cheerful but timid girl, or at least, she is now. Eri has gone through more pain and suffering than what anyone deserves at the mere age of six, and is only cheerful now after some well-deserved emotional and mental healing. When Eri’s quirk “Rewind” manifested when she was a toddler, she accidentally caused her father to disappear, being rewound to before he even existed. Because of this, her mother became fearful of her, disowning her and calling her a cursed child before handing her off to Eri’s grandfather, the boss of an organized crime group known as the Shie Hassaikai.

Seeing as how Eri’s quirk resembled neither her father’s or her mother’s quirk, he left her in the Kai Chisaki, assuming that they had similar quirks. This, however, was wrong… ‘Rewind’ being much more powerful than what any of them had thought.

After Chisaki took over the Shie Hassaikai, he began to experiment on Eri to try and weaponize her quirk. Eventually, he discovered that her blood had the ability to suppress a person’s quirk. Because of this discovery, he began to manufacture her blood into bullets that, when shot, will inject whoever it hits with her blood and temporarily disable their quirk. The process, however, was… far from pleasant for Eri. He would use his quirk to destroy Eri, collect her blood, and then repair her… a process that was repeated hundreds upon thousands of times… despite the pain it caused her.

Her attempts to escape and resist would all ultimately fail, and she eventually resigned herself to her fate, and Chisaki would continue his experiments in order to create a version of the quirk-suppressing bullets that would permanently destroy someone’s quirk. The belief that Eri was a cursed child was instilled into her at a very young age, and she would come to believe that despite wanting to be saved… she would believe that it would be better for her to simply accept her fate, rather than have others get hurt—or even die at the hands of Chisaki—for her sake. This instilled mindset shows how, after escaping and running into Deku’s arms and crying, begging him not to go… the instant Chisaki showed a hint of murderous intent at them, she immediately left and ran back to his side, not wanting others to die for her sake.

After she was eventually saved, but even after being separated from Chisaki… his ghost still lingered over her, and all of her years of torment left her as a girl who had forgotten how to smile. However, the attempt to bring back her smile by bringing her to the school festival was successful, and Eri was able to laugh and smile for the first time… being freed from Chisaki’s ghost.

Freed from Chisaki’s ghost, Eri is a cheerful—albeit still timid and shy—girl. She loves apples and most sweets, drooling at the thought of candy apples (which were described as ‘Apples but even sweeter’). While the psychological scars of her past treatment remain, and will likely remain for a long time, she became able to enjoy the company of the other UA students. Though her cheerfulness does diminish into timidness around those she isn’t familiar with.

Victory Road Sample: Nightmares were still frequent, even if Arceus has physically aged Eri up to the body of a 10-year-old. She was still 6-years-old on the inside, and while her life has definitely improved…

    “Nnh…”

Traveling was easier when so many friends from home were here… she was essentially never left unattended for too long. Still, right now, they were asleep… and Eri couldn’t help but toss and turn inside her sleeping bag, making quiet groans and whimpers.

    “Nn… no…”

It was a terrible dream… she was running through a dark void, no substance to it… but she could hear the sound of her feet hitting some kind of floor as she ran from the ever-growing monstrous figure of Chisaki…

    “NO!!”

She’s suddenly awake, tears in her eyes while she breathes heavily and shoots up in her sleeping bag, clutching her chest as she feels her heart pound. She’s safe, Chisaki isn’t here… heck, if she was safe from him back at UA, she was even safer now here in this… Pokemon World.

But she still can’t shake that fear. Even after his shadow was dispelled from her, and she learned to smile again… his influence still remains on her to this day, just like the scars on her hands and arms. Speaking of which, though her body was aged up to that of a 10-year-old’s body… the scars from all of Chisaki’s experiments remain just as pronounced as usual.

Fortunately, she didn’t wake anybody up with her sudden awakening… except for Cotton, her Galarian Ponyta, who rises up and trots over to her, giving her a concerned look.

    “Sorry… did I wake you up…?”

The unicorn Pokemon snorts a bit before trotting a little closer, rubbing its nose against her cheek before giving her an affectionate lick. Eri can’t help but giggle a bit at its attempts to cheer her up.

Which of course means that Cotton was successful.

“Thanks…” Eri smiles a bit, giving her starter a big hug. “I’m alright, Cotton…”

The Pokemon isn’t fully convinced, though… and rightly so. Eri is good at keeping stuff like this inside… but Galarian Ponyta can see into the hearts of others (fitting considering their unicorn appearance).

    “H-Hey…”

Eri will find herself shuffling a bit more as Cotton proceeds to try and snuggle itself into her sleeping back… which works out, considering how it was a bit too big for Eri herself anyway. Still, as strange as it is… she appreciates it and cuddles her Pokemon back.

Well, her sleep may have been interrupted at the time because of her nightmare, but… it looks like she’ll be able to sleep well now.

    Character
    Name: Gobo Fraggle
    Series: Fraggle Rock
    Timeline: Post-Series
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki Link

    Personality:
When we look at Gobo across the series Fraggle Rock, what we see is ultimately a coming-of-age story. The show's overall theme of interconnectivity is equally important to Gobo's character, but there's also the story of a timid youth who has a big job thrust upon him, and comes to accept - even embrace - that job and all it entails. When Gobo's Uncle Matt becomes the first fraggle to leave Fraggle Rock and explore "outer space" (the human world) and learn about it and its "silly creature" inhabitants (humans), Gobo is given the job of retrieving his recorded information (sent via postcard) from just beyond Fraggle Rock. He's frightened, and not sure that being pushed to follow in his uncle's explorer footsteps is what he wants. But he's given no real choice, and once the job is assigned to him, he feels dutybound to do it. Gobo at this point is meek, serious, and unsure. He's really still a kid, at the fraggle threshold into adulthood that is getting a job.

However, as he gets better and better at his job, he starts to enjoy it, and with that, we see the emergence of Gobo's true character. As he comes into his young adulthood, we can see that Gobo is confident, even sometimes cocky. His unique, meaningful job earns him the respect of many other fraggles, and he finds himself in the role of leader. He didn't seek it out, but he certainly likes it, and takes the position seriously. He looks out for the wellbeing of others, and tries to do what's best for his community at all times. However, while he's serious about being a leader, the bold fraggle is no longer serious overall. Though still a bit more inclined to be quiet and think than most other fraggles, he's playful and good-humored. He's also a jock, through and through, and a highly competitive (and skilled!) one at that. Eventually, the fact that Gobo's job was assigned to him, not chosen, does have to be dealt with. Gobo realizes how he was rushed into it and considers changing tracks until he discovers that being an explorer is no longer just what he has to do. It's what he wants to do.

Gobo is highly regarded by his community, but he is by no means perfect. Gobo has impatience, as well as a short temper, and is still somewhat prone to acting on anger. Sometimes the respect he receives gets to his head, too, and he'll feel invincible and take unnecessary risks in his adventures. He's also very hard on himself whenever he feels he's let others down, which can sometimes happen due to his own stubbornness. And that competitive nature? It's not limited to sports, either. Gobo's sometimes short-sighted and can get mopey, too; wrapped up in his own troubles - although in all fairness, this is in part because others seem to expect Gobo to have no problems, just answers. But for all those shortcomings, the way others look up to Gobo, or think fondly of him, is honestly well-deserved. He's a natural leader, a brave explorer, an innovative and progressive thinker, and he's a caring and curious individual who goes to great lengths to do the right thing, and loves adventure - almost as much as he loves his fellow fraggles.

    "Ruff! Rockruff!"

Gobo smiled down at the creature running circles around his ankles as he walked down the road leaving New Bark Town. With a chuckle, he leaned down to pick her up. "Alright, lil fella, but I'm gonna trip over you if you keep that up." Rockruff responded by licking his face. "Aww, thanks, Rockruff."

He'd noticed other trainers and breeders giving their Pokemon nicknames... But he wasn't sure if he was keen on that idea. Just because he didn't know if Rockruff already had a name, after all, didn't mean the Pokemon was nameless. It reminded him of the Gorgs, and their old assumption that Fraggles didn't have names of their own. That had been no good, and he'd rather not make the same mistake.

He was interrupted from his thoughts by Rockruff's squirming, and Gobo sighed. "Okay, okay, you can get down. But you gotta walk next to me, okay? Not around me."

    "Rock!"

"I'll take that as a yes... I think." He shrugged, and set Rockruff back down. The duo continued to walk along, with Gobo frequently checking the map on his Pokegear just to be sure. He'd always believed in the practicality of following a map, and that was doubly important to him in a completely new kind of place. He still wasn't sure how he'd gotten here, and he missed his friends back home; hoped they weren't worrying to much. But an adventure was an adventure, and he was eager to take this one on.

They'd traveled a good while, and Gobo was checking the map yet again, when he heard a strangled sound of surprise from his partner. Gobo looked over quickly, and was met with the sight of a trio of Pidgey, divebombing Rockruff.

"Hey! Hey, three against one's no fair, leave him alone!" Gobo shouted, stomping his feet and waving his arms to scare off the flying types. They took off, but not after a few parting pecks at Rockruff, and Gobo's partner was looking worse for wear when Gobo scooped her up in his arms again. "I'm sorry, Rockruff, I should'a been paying attention..."

But Rockruff's only response was to lean up and lick his face again, and while it caused Gobo to smile... What he perceived as an attempt at comfort from the Pokemon also brought more guilt. He was supposed to be looking after Rockruff! Not the other way around! And from now on, he decided, he'd make sure he did better.

    Character
    Name: Mari Makinami Illustrious
    Series: Rebuild of Evangelion
Timeline: End of 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance
Canon Resource Links: Believe it or not, Wikipedia does a better job than either actual Eva wiki. But it's not very complete, especially regarding the significance of actual events.

    So, some details of note.

    - Mari is a HUGE BRAT in the manga chapter. She steals Yui's glasses out of jealousy and spite, lies about not knowing where they are and telling Yui to get contacts already, and calls Yui's reasons for liking Gendo "disappointing," adding "I don't want to hear that from you" before leaving.

    - But the story of Yui's glasses is very important. So is the fact that until Yui fixed Mari's hair after the escaped lab rat incident, Mari wore her hair straight and loose. Since then, she's worn her hair exclusively in the style Yui "gave" her.

    - Hideaki Anno mentioned that Mari grew up close to Ryouji Kaji. In the manga, Ryouji Kaji was orphaned by Second Impact. Incidentally, Mari has lived through both Second Impact and near-Third Impact.

    - The freeing of the escaped Angel was deliberately orchestrated, as was the destruction of the provisional Eva unit 05. The first served as a distraction so Kaji could slip out with Nebuchadnezzar's Key and deliver it to Gendo. The second removed a problematic Eva unit from SEELE's hands. It is implied that Mari had something to do with this.

    - The later explosion and catastrophe at the Nevada base is implied not to have been accidental (this time? Was it accidental in NGE? We just don't know!) and may in fact have been her doing as well.

    - Mari's landing in Japan (via parachute) is meant to be covert. Her conversation on the phone (in English) is clearly meant to be something Shinji doesn't understand. Her dismissive, slightly demanding, definitely nonapologetic attitude on the phone speaks volumes, honestly.

Personality: Clever, clever Mari. Confident, expressive, and girly, Mari is the action and excitement to Shinji's passiveness, the positive to Asuka's negative. And at first brush, she passes easily as a flippant, uninhibited teenager, excited to try new things and go new places. But for every positive adjective that can be applied, there's another, more ominous one lurking underneath. Outgoing, upbeat, brilliant... enigmatic, manipulative, detached. Her sharp mind and keenly observant habits give her plenty of insight into others, but she is distinctly averse to revealing the first thing about herself. It's never even directly revealed that she's not a teenager at all. In a way, she's more like if Carrie Fisher had an ulterior motive, eternal youth, and a something rather less than a level teaspoon of actual empathy for other people.

What that ulterior motive is is a bit unclear, even 3/4 of the way through the Rebuild of Evangelion, but it's not hard to put the basics together. In the manga, she's introduced as a somewhat moody, brusque sixteen year old (actually sixteen) attending the same university as Yui Ikari (the woman who would later become Shinji Ikari's mother and also the soul inside Unit 01) and Naoko Akagi (mother of Ritsuko) and specialising (like Yui) in metaphysical biology. But it's revealed she finds Yui's superior talent to be a source of frustration and jealousy. Always being at the top is lonely--and when you reach a certain echelon, there will always be someone who is superior to you, no matter what you do. It is suggested that Mari's intelligence creates a barrier between her and others, making it difficult for her to form relationships with them.

But Mari's jealousy is complicated by another, even more difficult emotion.

    Love.

And her unrequited feelings for Yui, as well as the respect and affection she feels towards the woman, definitely forms the basis for whatever machinations she's aiding (or masterminding) in Rebuild. She tells Yui at the end of the manga chapter that she'll wish for her and Gendo's happiness "from a distant sky."

And yet. One of the big overall themes of Evangelion is the feeling of 'contempt.' Contempt for others and contempt for oneself are major themes explored in literally every character. And if we're being completely honest? Mari is the very embodiment of contempt for others. It's a large part of why she gets along so well with Asuka; she doesn't care if Asuka feels contempt for her, because she doesn't need or want validation from Asuka. Her lack of regard for others is based not on a sense of self-sufficiency so much as it is a contempt for the value and approval of other people. Her lingering contempt for herself becomes apparent only in close relationships with others. As long as she holds others at arms' length--taunting, dismissing, co-conspiring, but never opening up or cultivating a further-than-working relationship with them--she's 'safe.'

But even though some things are readily explained by this detached, consequence-free approach to other people, a lot of things.... are not. Mari Makinami Illustrious is a true eccentric. There's a scene in the second film that gets overlooked a lot--in it, she parachutes into Japan with the intention of entering it covertly, but lands on A. a school and B. Shinji Ikari. Literally, lands on him. He gets a face full of her boobs, which actually obstruct his breathing, and the landing knocks off her glasses, which she crawls off of him to find, flashing her panties in her face. Neither of these things distress her in any way--in fact, it's almost like she doesn't notice that she's done or experienced anything that could be considered inappropriate. And before she leaves, she drops back to her knees and crawls over to Shinji and sniffs him.

She comments that he 'smells good,' specifically 'like LCL.' Then she tells him not to tell anyone about this and leaves. (The fact that she enjoys the smell of LCL is mildly horrifying, as LCL A. smells like blood and B. is the blood of Lilith. But it's a rare and valuable glimpse into her personality.)

Now, in fairness, she's in her mid-thirties during this scene--more than twice Shinji's age. The implications for her are very different than they are for Shinji. But even with that accounted for, she's an extremely strange person, one who dismisses or neglects the consequences of her interactions with others and acts very much on impulse. Her sense of humour is annoying--teasing and a bit smug, often predicated on antagonising others or other forms of personal mischief. She's not cruel by any means--callous though she is in personal relationships, she doesn't usually tend to go that far. She just has no qualms about picking at other people's emotions. Or destroying something she knows to be intrinsically human (like Unit 05) for the (or at least her?) greater goal.

She's the only pilot we see become genuinely excited about piloting an Eva--Asuka's piloting is driven by the idea that piloting Eva is what makes her valuable as a person, but Mari is excited for the experience. And her enthusiasm defines her piloting style. She takes pain and damage in stride, even shedding an entire arm from the provisional Unit 05, but throws herself into fights with excessive gusto. It makes sense that she'd excel at it--after all, she's swift of action and quicker of thought, and knows far more about the Evas and the metaphysical sciences that govern them than almost anyone else in the series. Tactically, she is very efficient, if dangerous, and is quick to abandon strategies or weapons that don't work. She is also quick to result to force, however, even to a degree that eschews certain risks--and even her own humanity (it is Mari who introduces us to the Beast Mode, a sort of 'controlled berserk' with less emphasis on the 'controlled' than some might like.) Of course, there is a decent possibility that she had a role in the creation of the Evangelions themselves, and she definitely has a greater understanding of everything involved in what they are, so it's not unreasonable she'd find it exciting to have one under her control.

But that's just it, really. Mari Makinami Illustrious appears to have her own idea of Third Impact--possibly the one envisioned by Yui herself. And for all her unpredictability, cunning, and volatility, she has more in common with Gendo than anyone else--up to and including the selfish desire to pursue a version of Yui that made an impression on her. That this vision of Yui's happiness puts her first in conspiracy and then at odds with Gendo is not a contradiction at all.

But Hideaki Anno originally had no clear plan for Mari besides intending her to 'destroy Eva.'

And goddamnit, we still have absolutely no idea what this means.

He-llo! I hate to be a downer, but I just got here, and I was wondering if anyone could prove that we're not dead. Not that death seems very likely, given what I know about it, but I tried asking the locals and their wildlife about it anyway after I found out what was going on, and all I learned is that for some reason they didn't really like the question.

That being the case, any evidence in either direction would be useful! And this is just a formality, so anecdotal evidence is okay, too.

    Name: Yuuri Shibuya
    Series: Kyou Kara Maou
Timeline: at the end of season two when Murata tries to see if he can send Yuuri back to Shin Makoku. Instead he'll end up here.
    Canon Resource Links: Shibuya Yuuri

Personality: Yuuri is essentially a very easy going type of character and rather happy-go-lucky. Not much bothers him in general about normal everyday life. Initially, when he began travelling to Shin Makoku, Yuuri often thought of his duties there in the form of missions in a game – defeat the major boss and then return home in time for dinner. Yuuri's perception with this view gradually evolves as he began realizing that each of his actions had consequences and that he has to begin taking more responsibility with each decision.

He'll often go to all lengths to help not only those closest to him, but to all of those in need whether they are Mazoku or human. Sure, Yuuri is still impulsive and will use just about any method or excuse to get out of doing the piles of paperwork and classes, but he's not one to idly sit by and allow any forms of injustice to pass him by.

Another thing about Yuuri is that he’s a modest king. Being pampered isn’t for him, and he would rather be out there helping people solve problems or to help save them than remain within the safety of his castle and let his men do all the work. He values life above all else, and will do whatever is possible in order to save it – even at risk to himself.

He's also the type of character that looks by any misgivings in the past and wants to believe in others without any shadow of a doubt. Yuuri is the type of person who's emotionally sensitive and hates to doubt the intentions of anyone even if his retainers accompanying him know otherwise. He unconditionally has a desire to protect everyone from harm or any forms of mistreatment or injustice, and doesn't see any logic behind war.

Shock and surprise was rushing through Yuuri's body as he fell forward into the water. Was he really going back to Shin Makoku even with Shinou no longer around? Hope gripped his heart as his body made contact and he made a big splash. There was the familiar tugging when he entered the water followed by that flushed feeling of being sucked down a drain. Even after months of it happening to him it still surprised the demon king each time.

Yuuri gasped for breath as he emerged on the other end. Blinking, he brushed the water out from his eyes hoping to find Conrad and the others standing in front of him. Did he dare hope?!

Blinking back the water, Yuuri went owl eyed when instead of the castle walls or the park he'd just been in... All he saw was an ordinary bathroom.

"What...?" His mind was trying to catch up with what was happening. Looking down he found himself sitting in the bathtub fully clothed in his usual school uniform. Blinking once... Then twice... Yuuri looked up at the bathroom around him, back down to the water, then once again at the foreign bathroom around him. He threw his arms out to the side and screeched in shock when the bathroom door sudden opened.

    "Eeeeeeeeeehhhh!"

A woman came rushing in to pull him out of the tub. "Yuuri, you're going to be late on your first day." A woman said in a rush as she threw a towel over his head, gave him a good scrub with it to dry him off, then started looping the straps of a backpack for him over his shoulders.

"Excu-- Umph" Yuuri's attempt to talk was interrupted by the woman when she seemed to be shoving things into the backpack.

"Lucky I already packed you a spare change of clothes. You've got a nice lunch in there for you," the woman continued as if he hadn't tried speaking.

"What's go--" Again he was interrupted as she grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed him through the house. Everything was a blur and the Maou had no idea what was going on. The next thing he knew he had been shoved out the front door with a hard ball pressed into his hand.

"Now here's your pokemon. Good luck on your journey to becoming a pokemon master, Sweety!"

Eyes wide and so very confused, Yuuri tried to get something... anything out but was cut off as the door slammed in his face.

"WHAT IS GOING IN HERE?!" Yuuri cried out as he turned around. Had he been sent to Australia?! But the woman's Japanese was very good and didn't they speak English there?? Oh no... He was lost! "Aaah! Here I am... fifteen years old and lost in the Outback!"

His hands shot up to cover his face, but instead of feeling the soft pad of his palm, Yuuri had forgotten he had been holding a hard round ball. BAM!

"Ouch!" He sounded in pain. The ball dropped down to the ground and rolled a few feet away as he rubbed his face.

"What did I just hit myself with?" Wincing in pain, the odd sound and glow caught his attention as he peered out from between his fingers. A shape took form in the red light.

Slowly lowering his hands, Yuuri blinked as a big black and white dog (??) appeared.

    "Eeeeeeeeh!?" He shrieked in surprise.

Timeline: Shortly after she's bought by Naofumi.
    Canon Resource Links: Here.

    Personality: WARNING FOR SLAVERY/CHILD ABUSE:

Raphtalia is a fearful, shy, and withdrawn girl. Her personality is shaped by the horrors she faced after the first Wave destroyed her village and forever changed her life.

Before the Wave, Raphtalia was a cheerful girl living happily with her parents and her two demi-human friends, Keel and Rifana. Despite the discrimination that demi-humans faced from the rest of the human population, Raphtalia's village remained peaceful. Other than the occasional monster, the children of the village were never in any kind of serious danger.

And then the Wave happened. Monsters overran her village, slaughtering the demi-humans who couldn't get away fast enough. Raphtalia's parents tried to carry her to safety, but they were chased down by a giant three-headed dog. In order to save Raphtalia, they pushed her off a cliff's edge into the ocean. Raphtalia's final memory of her parents was them sacrificing themselves as a distraction for the giant dog monster.

This moment is forever burned into Raphtalia's mind, causing her fear and anxiety. She has constant nightmares about watching her parents die, causing her to cry and scream at night. She's terrified of fighting monsters and has to be forced to attack, even when that threat could potentially kill her. She especially doesn't want to kill monsters that bleed, because it reminds her too much of the bloodshed and violence that the Wave caused her village. Despite this, her fear of Naofumi leaving her behind prompts her to fight, even though the idea of fighting is terrifying to her.

A lot of Raphtalia's actions are guided by what she thinks her parents would want her to do if they were still alive. While devastated by the loss of her family, Raphtalia remembers that her dad told her to smile through hard times. So Raphtalia hides her sadness, putting a smile on instead - even if the smile isn't genuine. While never the type to be a leader, she motivates the other villagers to rebuild what they've lost, and helps raise the flag of their village. She perhaps takes her father's words a little too literally, because instead of letting herself grieve, she buries those negative emotions and puts a smile on her face instead.

What really breaks Raphtalia though, is slavery. Before the remaining demi-humans could rebuild their village, they're rounded up and sold as slaves. Raphtalia, along with her friend, Rifana, are sold to Idol Rabier, who likes to torture his slaves for entertainment. Rabier tortures Raphtalia and Rifana daily, chaining them up and whipping them. Eventually, Rabier gets frustrated that Raphtalia keeps on smiling, just like her parents told her to do. When Raphtalia does get to rest, she tries to comfort her friend, who was getting sicker and weaker each day. Raphtalia tries to encourage Rifana to not lose hope, making a makeshift flag of their village to give to Rifana. The next day, Rifana succumbs to her illness and Raphtalia is sold again before she realizes her friend is dead.

Sick, weak from torture, and thoroughly broken, Raphtalia becomes a shell of the cheerful and kind girl she once was. She can no longer put on a smile for others or herself. Her friends are gone, her family is dead, and she's forced to endure a life of slavery alone. With no chance of escaping and rebuilding their village, Raphtalia loses all hope. She's endured more horrors than most adults have seen in their lifetime, and it breaks Raphtalia's spirit.

When Naofumi decides to buy her, she's understandably fearful of him. She's experienced just how cruel her owners can be, and she fears that she's destined for a life of more pain and torture. That's why when he buys her clothes and feeds her, the gesture completely surprises her. It's been a long time since anyone's treated her with any kindness, especially a human. While he does force her to fight, he never pushes her past her limits, and generally tries to tend to her needs. At this point in Raphtalia's life, even simple pleasures - like eating a kid's meal or getting a ball to play with - mean a great deal to her, because before she had absolutely nothing.

She still has trouble adjusting to Naofumi's kindness though. She's incredibly shy, flinches easily because she expects pain and not say, a pat on the head. Loud voices scare her. She's always looking down and not really watching where she's going, because she doesn't like to make eye contact. Despite her trauma making her grow up more quickly, she's still very much a child. Her excitement over eating a children's meal, wanting to play with a ball, even resisting trying to take medicine because it's too bitter, all show that Raphtalia hasn't grown all the way up just yet.

Raphtalia still remains a curious girl, and strong-willed as well. She doesn't like to show "weakness" in front of Naofumi, such as saying she's not hungry when her stomach's growling, or saying that she doesn't want a ball to play with when she clearly does. Still, Naofumi ends up being the one who comforts her when her fear and trauma get the best of her. And he's also the one who starts to slowly bring her out of her shell, training her to get strong enough to help him fend off the next Wave of Calamity.

Is this... a magic sword? Am I supposed to fight with this?

    Series: Fate Grand Order
    Timeline:
It doesn’t affect Brynhildr really where her timeline is taken from in Fate Grand Order. However the current timeline, post Indian Lost Belt.
    Canon Resource Links:
Indian Lost Belt including event participation up to here as of July.

    Personality:
Brynhildr is a broken woman, having gone from a strong hearted Valkyrie. Who spoke out against her own father - Odin, the all father of the Nine realms. To a loving teacher and lover, having been broken from her slumber by Sigurd. Unfortunately upon awakening from her slumber, they both had to acknowledge that their love would bring tragedy. That Sigurd had a quest he needed to pursue still. Meaning he would leave, and she inevitably would go into the next phase of her life. Which then was a headstrong Shield Maiden. Wishing to marry none, but to keep to herself as a warrior upon the battlefield. Unfortunately, she was not allowed to live out her life so casually, each time she stood up to be whom she chose to be. Brynhildr would fall to her curse, and suffer at the hands of her own fate. One instilled by her father, Odin.

Originally Brynhildr was crafted from the body of a dead alien God: this made her autonomous by nature. She was no less a doll, or fleshy computer that Odin created for his own whims. The desire and need, to usher Heroes under his banner for Ragnarok(PLEASE DONT ASK ME ABOUT FATE TIMELINE*WIPES BROW*). Brynhildr was of the first crafted Valkyries, and in her time serving Odin. Had chosen against his actions, this began her individual development in how she began to hold feelings for Humankind. The first step in her development of her own personality. An important core feature, as Valkyries all lived under one union. One mind. Again, much like a computer with information and dialogue shared between them. When she had began to develop feelings on her own, and crafted her own individual personality. She began to fall off and break away from the ‘Hive Mind’ or ‘Computer like Structure’ that made up these Valkyrie.

No longer hearing the voices of her sisters, and becoming a woman of her own. Odin cursed her for being defected, and told her to lay in slumber as a mortal for eternity until she awoke. Brynhildr in the last of her efforts, and as a person divine with rune magics. Spoke against him, that she would not awake unless it were a Hero most true. Refusing to simply bow down, and if she would die in a tragedy then - Brynhildr would die fighting.

These core factors are important, especially the simple fact that Brynhildr operates no less like an autonomous doll. At times, because of her original nature. When she became mortal and had to learn what that meant, she struggled for a long time. It took Sigurd teaching her how to be human, for her to mortalize her existence. During this time, she taught him how to be a Hero as well. Her personality developed with her love for him, and as they parted. She continued to endure much throughout her life. As a woman in an era where having choices were not for you to keep. She continued to speak out against the world. Her curse and everything that fought against her - which honestly was a lot. Continued to cause her to suffer immensely.

    (warning sucicide mention)
Inevitably, her tragedy and the curse caught up with her. She ended her fate ( By Fate’s Canon Brynhildr story ) by killing the entire castle, her husband, her in-laws, and her beloved. Bringing an end to the curse that followed her.

    Or so she thought...

When summoned this tragedy continued to be apart of her, and she became lost in her deprived state. The curse did not leave her despite being accepted into the throne of heroes, and when summoned. She is a Valkyrie. With divinity blessed upon her once again. A big deal, as this was stripped from her by Odin originally. However, she is subjected to a terrorizing saint graph due to her story. As well the rules of the Grail. Her saint graph is riddled with many complications that affect her personality GREATLY.

Upon seeing Heroes, her mind becomes hazy and immediately Brynhildr would begin to see them as her beloved Sigurd. Despite that, it is only her nature as a Valkyrie. To want to take a Hero's life, and bring them to Valhalla. It is merely her being excited to see a grand Hero. As well as being corrupted and mixed up, because of her unfortunate curse. That Brynhildr acted out in this manner, where she feels the need to kill her lover. Due to the curse attached to her saint graph, and what she was historically known for. Or kill the hero that reminds her of her lover. As opposed to loving, or appreciating all Heroes.

Although it won't be as serious an issue here in Pokemon World… Where she is followed by her fathers curse, and invigorated with the need to kill others. It still follows her in some ways, more or less like ptsd. It will be treated more as a trait that she can try to break out of, and less that the curse has followed her here. Since she can rightfully live here, a quieter life.

Overall, Brynhildr is a very calm and even mannered person, voiced by Mamiko Noto. Her character is very solemn, and often very exhausted. As she is very troubled by her own thoughts. Keeping to herself, and tries not to bother anyone unless spoken to. She is quick to act, because she feels her decisions are decisive. As a being, who despite knowing she ended as a Mortal. Still is a demi-god in many ways. Her presence creates a pressure, unknowingly because of existence. Further, the way her hair and eyes are colored. How ethereal she comes across at times, and how her own movements are always a perfect measure of elegance. Almost again, robotic or off putting.

She can be frightened by small animals, but also finds them extremely endearing. Scared to touch them, since most are genuinely scared of her. Brynhildr despite having a master and understanding of humanity. As well as their heroics. At heart is just a naïve woman, who trusted others and loved them wholly. However rightfully is cold and brutal, with a domineering understanding or view over humanity. That often is observed through the notion of: Are you a Hero or are you not?

    Victory Road Sample:
The Alolan Vulpix came as a surprise, but a welcomed one as it did not fear Brynhild. It’s coat was soft and the glow of it’s sheer gave off the idea that it was well cared for. Well maintained, and held a natural beauty that Brynhildr had never seen. Such an animal, despite having felt as if she had seen so many sorts of living creatures. Were one unlike anything she could come to acknowledge in her time of existing.

It was taut, prideful, and pleased by the trainer that seemed to be picked for it. What the Valkyrie adored the most from her new partner. Were the elegance it held when a battle was won. It would gently settle before the other opposing trainer, eyes softly casting up toward them. In thanks to the wonderful battle gifted to it, ‘A fine warrior.’

The woman would speak to no one but herself. It would seem though, that the Vulpix greatly understood by her looks alone. What her own trainer felt deep down. They wandered and battled silently like this for some time.

Brynhildr did not understand what the concept of trainers were. At first. Despite the bag with her that she took along, and the journey she had when crossing into each route. It took time for her to adjust to each battle, and the silence as she watched her own Pokemon fight. As well as the trainers that collected the nerves to approach her.

Inevitably she began to process rightfully, the sort of rules the world enacted to her. Everything was strange, and she was readjusting to a world where these small beings would fight in place of people instead. When she came from an era and conception, where Humans are warriors. Needing to battle their own fights.

This was not a world for her, she had thought quietly and somber about it. Hoping that in her journey she would come across Sigurd somewhere. Or one of her darling sisters. Or her Master… Anyone that she truly knew of, that could potentially stand beside her and cure the loneliness that began to fester within.

Inevitably, she decides to wear an outfit given to her within her bag, and felt comfortable when she looked at herself within the mirror. A new found feeling she had not felt for some time. It was here that she began to warm up to learning of the realm she would now live in. Things still took time to find herself getting used to, but when she realized one afternoon. That another named their Pokemon, and treated it as if it were their child. Something gently sparked within Brynhildr and on that night she had named the Vulpix.

A harsh breath cooler than of Ymir's breeze, and eyes that marvel at the world before her… A spirit that wishes to battle onward…. A heart that will fester love and hope…. Will you do me the honor…? … Will you allow me to name you, after one I could not raise…?” The Vuplix understood, after all this is Pokemon and the sworn partnership between one’s starter as well the trainer picked for it. Were a monument of feelings, that in earnest. Would pave way to the gentler future, that her partner Pokemon had hoped would find her here, “Then… You shall be …. Aslaug.

Beneath the starry night, Brynhildr had accepted this strange world, and rightfully began her journey into gentler days.

    Character
    Name: Dedue Molinaro
    Series: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
    Timeline: Pre-Gronder Fields
Canon Resource Links: Dedue’s wiki page

    Personality:
Dimitri introduces Dedue to Byleth as such:

Dedue was born in Duscur, and has been loyally working in my service for the past four years. He’s rather taciturn, but once you get to know him, you’ll see that he’s a kind and good-natured young man.

Aside from the fact that this makes Dimitri sound like he’s Dedue’s grandmother trying to set him up on a blind date with a complete stranger, it’s an accurate, albeit concise, description of him.

Dedue was born in the country of Duscur, which is located on a peninsula to the northwest of the Kingdom of Faerghus. Duscur was previously a sovereign nation, but was annexed by Faerghus as retribution for the Tragedy of Duscur, in which King Lambert of Faerghus and his family was assassinated during a diplomatic visit to that country, with Dimitri being the sole survivor of the incident. The incident was blamed on the people of Duscur, and a series of pogroms ensued which left the population decimated and the area under the rule of House Kleiman. Anyone of Duscurian descent from then after was treated with extreme prejudice and suspicion. Dedue has discussed in his support conversations with Ingrid how he has been treated in Fhirdiad, the capital of Faerghus, and he described being spat at, insulted, and even having stones thrown at him, and that this isn’t an uncommon occurrence. Several members of the Blue Lion house at Garreg Mach, however, including Dimitri, do not believe that Duscur was involved in the assassination, and one of Dimitri’s goals as the future ruler of Faerghus is to clear the Duscurian people’s name and return their sovereignty to them, and it’s one of the reasons that Dedue follows him so loyally.

Dedue lost his entire family during the pogroms and would have likely died as well were it not for Dimitri’s intervention. The prince saved him from being killed by Faerghan soldiers and in return, Dedue devotes himself to Dimitri’s service and acts as his retainer, essentially as a kind of life-debt. From then on, the service of Dimitri and his goals are Dedue’s primary reason to live. He stays at the prince’s side and acts, in his words, as Dimitri’s ‘sword and shield’, following his orders almost unquestioningly. The two of them, in a sort of bizarre codependency ouroboros, are each other’s living emotional crutches; Dedue finds meaning in his service to Dimitri and Dimitri needs Dedue as proof that he isn’t helpless against the evils of the world. Is this healthy? Absolutely not. Are there routes where Dedue’s unyielding, unfailing, ‘til-death-do-us-part devotion does, in fact, result in his death? Yes, in more than one way, and all of them are tragic. Welcome to Faerghus, where apparently everyone says ‘fuck therapy, I’m becoming a knight’.

Despite the fact that Dedue’s love for Dimitri runs so deep that you could hop in a submarine and call it the Mariana Trench, he tends to come off as stern and distant, if polite, to most at first meeting. Dedue is the kind of man who plays his cards close to his chest; he’s difficult to read because he doesn’t want to be easily read. This is most likely a defense mechanism because of the fact that he lived in a country that was extremely hostile to his people. Dedue concedes his opinions to whatever Dimitri’s are, especially in front of people whom he does not trust, only revealing what his true thoughts are when someone has gained that trust. This kind of self-effacement is his best protection in Faerghus, as showing his true self while surrounded by so much hate and suspicion would jeopardize his position at the prince’s side and therefore his ability to help Dimitri achieve his goals. This actually causes a little bit of friction between himself and Dimitri, because Dedue insists on treating Dimitri as his social superior, only referring to him by his title and refusing to call him his friend. This is both to protect Dimitri’s reputation as well as to preserve Dedue’s place as his vassal, as a man of his standing becoming overly familiar with the crown prince would simply not be safe in the current social climate. Not until Dimitri completely realizes his goal of eliminating prejudice against the people of Duscur in Faerghus will it be safe for them to even reveal their friendship publicly.

Though Dedue generally maintains his calm and taciturn demeanor, several of his support conversations reveal his actual feelings about the treatment of his people by Faerghus, and it’s clear that he has been quietly harboring a lot of hatred and resentment. Though he finds the way that Faerghus has killed and mistreated his people abhorrent, and he absolutely wants reparations for his people in the form of their return to self-governance and revenge on the people responsible for the Tragedy, he doesn’t want revenge on the people of Faerghus themselves. His vision for the future is actually quite a hopeful one--he wants a peaceful path forward and a future where his people aren’t treated as outsiders in Fodlan, and clearly believes that Dimitri will be able to make that dream a reality.

It should also be noted that, with regards to Dedue’s obedience to Dimitri, that he is mostly obedient to his lord’s commands. However, the perception of how obedient he is may vary depending on who you ask; Felix will refer to Dedue’s loyalty as blind obedience, which is reinforced during their supports when Felix asks him if he would do anything Dimitri demanded, including kill women and children, and Dedue replies that he would do so without hesitation, as “weapons do not have a will of their own”. This line has to be taken with a grain of salt and with the context of events in other routes, because it implies that he’s far more unflinchingly compliant to Dimitri’s orders than he really is. In the Crimson Flower route, Dedue can and will work against the prince’s explicit wishes if he thinks that the outcome will be to his benefit, and in a conversation with Byleth during the Azure Moon route, when asked about Dimitri’s desire for revenge against Edelgard, Dedue says, “The hatred of His Highness is also my hatred. Any other feelings I may have are irrelevant.” This indicates that he’s not as mindlessly obedient to anything that his prince wants as he would lead people whom he does not trust to believe, but rather that he will prioritize Dimitri’s goals over his own feelings and desires, even if that means disobeying him.

On a slightly less dangerously codependent note, Dedue can also be kind, thoughtful, and helpful towards his companions, and is often protective of them in battle. Outside of combat, his fellow Blue Lions mostly bond with him over food—Dedue is an excellent cook who learned from his mother and sisters, and several of his supports involve him either cooking food for someone, teaching them to cook, or helping them in the kitchen. He enjoys being able to provide for others and is willing to help his compatriots when they’re in need, even if doing so is inconvenient. He’ll help to clean up Annette’s messes with her even if they were caused by her own clumsiness; he’ll give cooking lessons to Sylvain and Flayn even if the former’s reasons are to pick up women and the latter is something of a difficult student. And it turns out that he’s a remarkably patient and gentle teacher despite his stern exterior, to the point where both Flayn and Annette comment on how kind he is even when they make mistakes or cause trouble. Being unusually gentle for a man who wields a massive axe in battle and is essentially a walking shield is actually kind of Dedue’s MO—aside from cooking, his other main hobby is gardening, and he can often be found in the greenhouse, tending to the flowers.

So, what Dimitri says in his introduction is ultimately an accurate summation—Dedue is, at first glance, taciturn and standoffish, but he is truly a kind, gentle man who has been traumatized by violence and prejudice.

Personality: Deuce is a serious and earnest young man, almost to a fault and wishes to be a model student in order to make up for his past as a middle school delinquent. Unfortunately he's not very bright, bad at studying and a bit dense. Despite that he still pushes himself to study when possible in order to achieve his dreams. He has a very strong will and once he sets his mind to something, he'll pursue it, no matter how many times he stumbles in the process. He's noted that it may take him a hundred times to understand something, but once he does, he never forgets.

Of course, the delinquent side of him hasn't entirely left. If his "bad boy switch" is pressed, he becomes hyper aggressive, willing to pummel other people into the ground. His language will also become more crass, with a lot of swearing and a hint of genuine sadism. People who have only seen his more earnest side might even wonder if he has a split personality. He doesn't. Both sides are the same person.

He can also be a bit competitive and hates backing down from a fight, even when it's misguided and he knows he'll lose, such as when he mistakenly believes that Malleus, the most powerful magician in school has challenged him to a duel. Deuce chooses to meet with him anyways, as otherwise he'd have to turn in his "man card." His attitude is improving on this front and he'll now at least make a token effort to hold back, but he still lashes out far too easily. Especially when people are being provoking towards him or his friends or belittle the hard work of others.

He has a strong desire to change who he is. As much as he tries to act like a model student though, Deuce has a long ways to go. Sometimes he feels intense guilt over his shortcomings and failures, though in recent chapters he's started to improve. Thanks to advice from his two of his senpai, he's come to realize that while he indeed isn't very bright, in some ways that is also a strength. He can't mentally multitask, but his singlemindedness allows him to focus in a way others can't, giving him a clarity of mind. It also gives him an incredible determination and keeps him from ever truly giving up.

For all his flaws though, Deuce is a good and honest young man who tries his best. He cares about his friends and respects hard work above all else.

Deuce has many worries right now. That woman who pushed him out the door was clearly not his Mom. Not by a long shot. Also he seemed to not have access to his magic anymore, which had resulted in a long panic attack, because he sure as hell didn't remember giving it away to Azul or being affected by some other form of Unique Magic. Of course, he also wasn't one to dwell on such things for overly long because he had an even bigger problem.

"Hey, I don't think it's a good idea to be lifting that… truck," Deuce sighed as he watched Machop lift up the tail end of a truck that was parked alongside the road.

"Machop!" the critter said proudly, flexing his free arm. Deuce still wasn't entirely sure what he was supposed to be doing with this little guy, other than apparently being responsible for him on some level. Not that he didn't mind responsibility, but he'd never even owned a dog, let alone a small, grey… whatever the hell this Machop thing was.

"I mean granted, it is kind of cool that you can lift that," Deuce tapped his chin, unable to stop himself from feeling a tiny bit of inappropriate pride. Then he caught himself and shook his head. "Wait no! Seriously, put that down!"

Machop frowned and then let the truck go, causing it come down with a thud and a little shake. Deuce cringed and looked around nervously, relieved that the owner didn't seem to be around yet. Sighing in relief, Deuce gave Machop what he hoped was a stern look.

"Listen, you can't just lift other people's things like that. It's going to cause trouble."

"Machop?" the pokemon tilted his head in confusion and Deuce scrubbed a hand through his hair.

"Alright, it's time to set down some ground rules…" Many, many ground rules.

    Character
    Name: Mikasa Ackerman
    Series: Attack on Titan
Timeline: 845, after her parents have died but before the fall of Wall Maria
    Canon Resource Links: wiki link

Personality: Throughout the series, Mikasa goes through a lot. These events have a massive impact on her and how she sees the world around her. Prior to the series, she's a sweet innocent child with loving parents. They're not well off and they live in isolation in the mountain woods, but they were happy and had each other.

... Which means they have to be brutally murdered right in front of her. Because this is a manga and good parents are not allowed.

Understandably, Mikasa takes this badly. While poor and isolated she'd never been exposed to danger. Her parents had always protected her and had the answers. The idea of them not being there had never occurred to her. She's paralyzed by shock at their deaths. Her mother told her to run but she doesn't know where to run to without them to guide her. So she remained rooted to the spot and is taken by the killers. Even then she remained still in their grasp, accepting her fate and not seeing a reason to struggle. After all even if she did manage to escape three grown men, then what? She doesn't know how to survive.

That's when Eren, fellow nine-year-old, swoops in. Stabs two of her captors and cutting her free. Mikasa can barely tell him about the third before he's grabbed and strangled.

Leaving Mikasa stood there. Dully watching as Eren struggles and yells. Telling her to grab his knife. Then suddenly, she has an epiphany. That the world is a harsh place, that there can't be life without death. Even her father had killed geese to feed her. That this was just another form of something killing to live on.

So with that thought, she plunges the knife through the man's back killing him instantly.

This only solves the immediate problem though. Because Mikasa is still a young girl who no longer has a home or anyone to rely on. She stands there lost and confused. So Eren bundles her up and takes her home with him. Giving her a scrap of warmth and hope in a world that seemed so cold and desolate just moments ago.

Mikasa never really recovers from this event. Later on around the age of 15 she starts to get better and open up more. But at her current canon point she's a constant mixture of numb and afraid. She's no longer able to emote like she'd done before. Even with Eren, his parents and Armin she struggles. Because now she knows how cruel the world can be she's on edge. She's overprotective of the people she's close to and doesn't want to let others in. Because the more people she has, the more she might lose.

That doesn't mean she's particularly nice to them though. Mikasa had always been a frank girl. Her parents encouraged her curiosity and to talk to them and were honest with her in turn. But with their deaths she's gotten blunter. Now if she thinks something is a bad idea, she'll say and list all the reasons why to discourage. Not necessarily to be mean but to try and protect them, it tends to make her look condescending even when it's mostly concern. (Though Eren doesn't really help here...)

So while she is still that sweet girl, it's buried deep under a thick wall of trauma and fear. That gets even thicker after her canon point when more bad things happen and she loses two of her four people. Just when she'd started getting used to having Eren and Armin and adjusting to her new life in the city.

    Character
    Name: hitoka yachi
    Series: haikyū!!
    Timeline: post series
    Canon Resource Links: wiki.

    Personality: ☀️a paranoid parrot
At first glance and when meeting new people, Yachi can be described as increasingly skittish, easily flustered and over-reactive. Because of her anxious nature, Yachi's imagination soars to places it . . . Probably shouldn't go. Rather than taking gradual steps, this takes absurd leaps: from thinking popular, beautiful women have assassin fan groups that would kill her for staying too close, or beginning to fret that she'll never get a job, live a poor life and need to sell her organs on the black market to survive after being unable to remember a colleague's name.

She's easily frightened, and such jouncing imagination causes her to judge people solely by appearance from time to time (though she's aware this is horrible and always apologizes when fear gets the best of her). Because of her nervousness, she's searched up ways to combat her behavior and will gladly share it with others who have the same problem: voice what you're feeling! Yachi directs her energy nowadays to vocalizing her feelings, whether through harmless interjections or a direct "I'm nervous!".

    ☀️i'm . . . what? no way.
It's easy to assume that because of her jittery anxiety, Yachi doesn't possess a base of steel confidence— and she doesn't. She consistently underestimates herself, her abilities, her work and her self importance even when she has many important qualities and skills. She usually needs a bump from others and when she receives such unexpected flattery, it touches her and boosts her to do even better. What's good about Yachi's lacking self esteem is that it doesn't bury her into a hole she can get out of; easily, she can perceive genuine words and how much it helps or has helped others, bringing her to a fuzzy good feeling and necessity to continue.

☀️i got some anti-acids right here!
Tagging into the above quality, Yachi is highly considerate of others and repeatedly strives to achieve a satisfactory support role. She cares for people both in mind and action, seeking to help when things grow dim and unafraid to yell for it if she can't give. Highly empathetic, heartfelt words could easily bring Yachi to tears, and seeing someone down will prompt her to immediately attempt to make them feel better.

    ☀️mom's a designer, so . . . !
For the most part, Yachi is extremely curious. When something catches her attention (which could be pretty much anything; she didn't have knowledge or interest in sports or volleyball before being asked to check out the managing roll and join the team) she can grow extremely passionate about it, jotting every detail that she's learned so she doesn't forget and then studying later to acheive maximum information potential. If she can be useful, she'll probably dive headfirst in. Her eye for organization, design, detail and studiousness comes from a background already present in her household and only receiving more juice and room for improvement by those that surround her. Her notes are impeccable, easy to study, and that by default grants Yachi a gift of note only being a patient and exceptional tutor, but a young and aspiring administrator.

    ☀️here comes the sun
Once made comfortable around a group and with her job, Yachi's energy can escalate (probably not as much as the boys on the volleyball team, that's way too much even for her!) into a bright, well meaning smile and jolly shrieking to cheer her team on. While not a complete extrovert, slipping out of her fragile shell is easier— she'll try to talk to people more, get into conversation, make jokes, offer them a helper and laugh enough to haul the sun into the room.

    Personality:

NOTE: I play Beetlejuice as portrayed by Will Blum. All the lines are the same, but the delivery is different.

Peoples' first encounter with Beetlejuice is rarely their favorite. Being a demon, he's got little interest in the well-being or feelings of the living, so he generally does whatever he pleases. He sees them as both subjects to terrorize but also a huge burden because the living always seem to make things difficult for the dead. Boundaries aren't really a thing for Beetlejuice, physical or emotional. Touching, poking, prodding, sniffing, he does it all. It's in your best interests to keep your fingers away from his mouth. He treats the subjects of sex, death, drugs, and murder very flippantly due to both his age and status and if he sees an opportunity for an effective threat, pun or a gag, he's going to take it. As a demon, it's established he's never been alive in the first place, so empathy is not his highest stat.

Beetlejuice is a free agent of chaos. He doesn't hassle the living out of hate or for revenge, he just loves doing it. Human fears are fascinating to him and he finds scream downright musical. He loves causing a scene. He loves attention. He still counts negative attention as attention and it becomes evident very quickly with how far he'll go to get a rise out of someone.

Emotionally, he's a little stunted. He's very reactive when he doesn't get his way, has shit object permanence, and extreme separation anxiety. As a dead person, feelings don't really work the same way as they do for the living. His existence is usually marked by an undercurrent of frustration and, at his worse points, pure unbridled rage. And petulance. A lot of petulance.

When we're introduced to him in the musical, he explains that he's been in complete isolation on Earth for an undetermined number of years--unable to be heard by or interact with living people. Scaring the living and teaching others how to do so used to be his main passion and perhaps that was what got him banished in the first place. Ghosts are supposed to go to the Netherworld, not stick around on earth. When you spend so much time alone, you develop a lot of weird tactics to keep yourself busy and entertained. He people-watches in the worst possible way, talks to himself out loud almost constantly, and takes little care of his physical appearance. In the brief time he has a handful of people to interact with, Beetlejuice is all over the place. He's the dog that finally caught the car that he's been chasing. He wants to be best friends and he also wants to bang. He sells himself as the perfect man for the job while also groveling on his knees.

A new habit Beetlejuice has discovered upon finally having people to talk to again is his tendency to overshare about his past troubles. He is not a fan of it and while more than happy to gloat and boast, the second he realizes that he's talking about how his Mommy lever loved him, he reins it back in real quick and pretends it didn't happen.

He's very creative when it comes to his illusions and a fairly accomplished schemer. Once Beetlejuice decides he wants something, it's hard to take his mind off it. The long game is not his style. Beetlejuice is prone to getting bored quickly and bulldozing the whole situation with raw power rather than finesse or skill. He's very manic, right down to his sudden and jerky movements. There's always something to look at, there's always some opportunity to be taken. It clashes loudly with the otherwise flamboyant and cool-cat persona he puts on.

Beetlejuice is very lively for a dead guy.

"Alright, let's take it from the top, " said Beetlejuice. He was crouching in front of a misshapen little Pokemon--a Mimikyu. It watched him intently but gave little indication as to whether it was understanding him or not. "Picture it. You're in battle. The guy you're up against is massive, I'm talking huge! A real tough customer. You're like...what? Level eight? He doesn't have to know that! You gotta psych 'em out."

He tapped his temples with his index fingers.

    "Mi-mi-kyu," said the Mimikyu.

"Yeah yeah, good for you, everybody's so proud you can say your own name." He dragged a hand down his face and stood. Beetlejuice paced back and forth in front of his Pokemon, feeling a rant coming on. "Y'know, not all of us have that privilege. Nobody likes a show off. FOCUS!"

"M-mimikyu," whimpered the little Pokemon. Its stuffed head flopped over and it used a shadowy paw to cover its eyes.

Normally, someone cowering just because he raised his voice would make the ex-ghoul puff up with pride, but that wasn't what he needed right now! It didn't matter how scary he was. He wasn't the one going into battle. Beetlejuice groaned. He pinched the bridge of his nose as stormy thoughts gathered overhead. This whole being alive thing was making him lose his edge.

    "Alright, little man. Scare me."

    "Mi-mi?"

"Yeah, it's whatever. Now scare me!" He spread his arms wide, making himself a bigger target. "C'mon! Show me everything you've got! Gimmi a real heart-attack!"

The Mimikyu looked thoughtful as a little burlap sack ghost could for a long moment. Something sparked in its little eyes. Finally. It understood! Very slowly it reached down and grabbed the edge of its disguise and slowly started lifting it up.

    ---

"Whoodawha-what? What? Where am I?" Bright lights stung the bio-exorcist's eyes. Beetlejuice's memory was an enormous blur--and not even the fun kind after a huge bender.

"Sir, please lay back down," a nurse told him gently. "You're in the hospital..."

    Plot summary
    Character wiki page

As a disclaimer, the dedicated canon wiki is...nnnnnot great but it's accurate enough that I feel comfortable linking it at all. The plot summary is for the non-remake version, but the overall plot is still the same.

    Original Character Background:

Rudy is a silent protagonist--mostly. While Rudy doesn't get any dialogue in his own game he does appear as a cameo in one of the later games (specifically WA5) where he does get to talk. He probably gets the most dialogue out of all the non-plot related NPCs in the game because not only does he appear in a lot of places, but his dialogue also changes as the plot progresses. I draw from that, his voiced lines during battles in the Japanese version (he gets a bunch of them), and his dialogue choices and voiced lines in the now-dead gacha game spinoff. His profile in the artbook also points out that Rudy is a kindhearted person despite all the rejection he's faced, and he still uses his power to protect others even though he knows that might lead to rejection in the first place.

Most of this is outside canon stuff, but there are things in canon that I use too. Facial expressions and body language are a part of it, but other characters have a tendency to talk about Rudy while he's in their presence. The people in Surf talk about Rudy's work ethic and that he's good enough at handling animals that people say he takes care of them as if he understands their feelings. Sometimes people will talk for him by saying things similar to "oh, Rudy wouldn't do/think that." Those kinds of examples aren't uncommon, and we also get to see some flashbacks to the lessons that his grandfather taught him. A worrying amount of his other scenes tend to centre around him having absolutely no concern for his own wellbeing if it means he can protect someone.

The funny part is that he's arguably the one who has the most detailed backstory despite being a silent protagonist.

    Personality:

To put it bluntly, Rudy is the way he is because of what his adoptive grandfather Zepet taught him. It was always Zepet's wish to teach Rudy to be a kind person with a good heart, and he did that by cultivating a sense of empathy. He succeeded in this wish too, because Rudy grew up to become just that, but unfortunately he also learned what it was like to be rejected early in life. Since he knew what it was like to be hurt like that, he also knew that was a feeling he didn't want anyone else to go through either. That is the main reason why he usually doesn't retaliate when someone hurts him; reacting only results in more hurt, though of course he's not perfect and does react sometimes.

The truth is that he'll do a lot to actively protect others from pain as well, whether it's physical or emotional. This is made obvious when Mariel is being picked on by bullies in Rosetta Town. After witnessing it first hand, it really doesn't take long for him to react by fighting them off. He visibly regrets it right after they run away, though he was holding back. Rudy is a lot stronger than he looks and could have hurt them pretty badly if he wanted to, so it was a conscious choice that he made and not just a knee-jerk reaction out of anger. He was upset enough to react with violence that time, but when he is banished by the town of Surf despite risking his life to protect them all, he sadly leaves without resistance or complaint.

That's an important contradiction that's worth acknowledging. When it involves other people, that's one thing. That's when his desire to protect others wins out, even if it means hurting someone. However, when he's the one who's being hurt, that's another story. He's kind to others, but on a subconscious level he isn't willing to extend that kindness to himself. That is one thing that Zepet neglected to teach him. I wouldn't go so far as to say that he has low self-esteem or something like that, but he does experience some anxiety when he draws attention to himself and especially when he's the centre of attention. He's acutely aware of how other people have seen him in the past, and for a long time all he wanted was a place to belong.

Granted, he has gotten better with that, and he even managed to work things out with the people of Surf eventually. It helps that Rudy is pretty willing to forgive and forget in most cases. He's just not the type to hold grudges. While he didn't have a whole lot of luck making friends as a kid, this forgiving and kindhearted nature along with his genuine desire to help others whenever possible has managed to make him a fair number of new friends (and a couple of admirers too, not that he's noticed). All in all he's a pretty calm and easygoing person as well, so while he can be a little shy, generally he's pretty easy to get along with in general. He's a very loyal friend, which can be a dicey combination with his tendency to protect others at all costs. To put it into context, Rudy nearly got himself killed not once, but twice during the events of the game because of that. Did those brushes with death change his behaviour at all? Haha, no. He'll still put himself in mortal danger to help someone, even if he barely knows them.

Probably one of Rudy's biggest strengths is his ability to hope for the future no matter what happens. It's to the point where he's able to break the seal on the Guardian Lord of Hope, Zephyr (more or less one of the gods that keeps the world from dying). To be fair, Zephyr does tell Rudy that he has the potential to break the seal, but he can't right away because of the "scar of despair" on his heart that surfaced when he was banished by the people of Surf. It's pretty hard to hope things will be better when you have that degree of fear and pain weighing you down. If those people who once thought of you so badly that they would banish you can eventually let that go and even believe in you, then believing wholeheartedly in the world and more importantly, the people in it becomes that much easier. It's easy to more or less dismiss Rudy as being a naive person who doesn't understand how the world works, but he has also been travelling the world either by himself, or with friends or with his grandfather since he was very young. It's not like he hasn't seen the possible cruelties of the world and can only believe because of that lack of understanding. He's seen the world, but he believes in it anyway.

    Victory Road Sample:

When Rudy woke up that morning, this was not what he expected to deal with today. Being on his own was one thing. Being greeted by someone who called themselves his mother was entirely another. It wasn't entirely unwelcome to be honest. Her being his mother was about as "impossible" as it had been for Zepet to be his grandfather. He couldn't stay here, though. How could stay for a mother figure he had only just met when the friends who were already so much more important could be in danger? Rudy let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck. This was...bad. Honestly, there was a very strong urge to just take off like a shot and begin searching.

He would have gotten away with it too, if a kind passerby hadn't warned him about the dangers of going into the tall grass without thinking. But anyway.

His next mode of action was to shrug the bag off his shoulder and drop down to the ground. There had to be something useful in here. Anything. He did have enough self-restraint to stop himself from turning the bag upside-down and dumping everything out in one go, but only just. He was very thankful for that restraint when he pulled out the bento box and trail mix from his...mother? Well, that was nice. Those were carefully set to the side while everything else wasn't quite so lucky. Finally, he found the map and the strange ball he had thrown in the backpack without thinking much of it.

    "Johto…?"

He had seen world maps of Filgaia before. This was not a map he recognized.

Oh man. This was...really bad. He frowned and reached for the ball next, though he ended up pressing the button without paying it much mind. The Pokemon that escaped from it surprised him badly enough to send him flat on his back, and the screech that came immediately afterward had him reaching for his weapon instinctively, but he was greeted with a reminder that he didn't have that either. Rudy set his jaw as he scrambled to his feet and stared down the metal bird that had appeared before him.

It eyed him back for a moment before taking interest in something in the distance and Rudy actually thought it was going to fly away, but instead it sat down and made itself comfortable. Well, uh, that was a better outcome than the one he had been worried about. That was no small thing! There was even a pang of guilt as he realized he had judged the poor creature purely on appearances instead of how it was acting. Rudy walked into its field of vision with a measured, careful pace, and said only the following words with a slight smile.

    "Hi. Nice to meet you."

    Character
    Name: Scrooge McDuck
    Series: DuckTales (1987)
    Timeline: Post-series
Canon Resource Links: Wiki Link | Extra Info: While Scrooge is taken from classic DuckTales, his backstory and adventures are supplemented with stories from Disney Comics, particularly the DuckTales tie-in series, Carl Barks' tales, and Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. This is because at the time of the original DuckTales he wasn't fleshed out much in-series and since it takes inspiration and form from those stories, I've used them in the past to add to Scrooge in places where they would not contradict the series (the series itself even adapted some of Barks' stories, which I tend to use over the comic versions). As such his canon could be listed as Disney Comics rather than DuckTales. Alternately, if that isn't allowed I can go strictly one or the other.

Personality: Scrooge, at first impression, seems just like his namesake. He's stingy, thrifty, and frugal to a fault. He didn't become the Richest Duck in the World by frittering it all away, after all. This could be blamed by his rough upbringing but really, it's in the blood; Scrooge comes from a long line of economical souls. This hasn't won him (m)any friends and plenty of enemies, but he is, as he so often points out, tougher than the toughies and smarter than the smarties. He's well poised to defend that money, and easily goes toe to toe with even the hardest businessmen and rivals to get more of it.

All of this would be ignoring the heart at the center of the old duck, though. While he does craft the above personality for various reasons, those he trusts will get to see something closer to the real Scrooge McDuck: A caring, Old Soul of a gentleman, who- though he fights hard for his money -will fight harder for those he loves. He is surprisingly charitable, if in anonymous ways most of the time, to those he picks and chooses. If someone needs, but does not want, and doesn't go begging for it, Scrooge will help them out with nary a second thought. He is also extremely protective of his family (blood AND chosen), and more loyal than almost anyone else you could ever meet. You couldn't have a better friend than Scrooge McDuck, nor a worse enemy if you cross his path.

Scrooge does have a temper, and doesn't suffer fools. He's blunt and will let you know if he doesn't like you or doesn't trust you. His glare is ice and his cane quick to snap the backs of hands (or worse). And heaven help you if you're a criminal bent on hurting- or killing -the innocent, because nothing tastes his wrath more than that. ...Unfortunately, Scrooge himself is also at times the subject of his own anger, and he can lapse into stretches of moodiness where his more bitter qualities will come out. Little more than time will bring him out of this, but thankfully these moods have been less frequent than in the past ever since welcoming family (back) into his life.

If nothing else, be it business or money, Scrooge is hardworking. He likes nothing better than getting his hands dirty, and he is proud of making every cent of his SQUARE. The average person might not think so but he has his morals, and will often go in the direction of small businesses and the underdogs than big corporations and easy marks, even at the cost of, well, cost. He'd rather have an honest cent than three dishonest ones, and every decent businessman out there knows that Scrooge McDuck is where you go. Unfortunately so does every dishonest one, and Scrooge has crafted a lifetime of being sharper than the sharpies, so he doesn't get taken for a ride. This does occasionally mean he puts his trust in the wrong place if someone tricks him well enough, but he'll get into the mess himself to fix it.

Victory Road Sample: Scrooge leaned against a fence railing, staring out ahead of him. Miltank rambled about, some feeding young ones, others getting ready to bed down for the night. It had been a long, hard day of labor, helping out around the farm. But it felt good, and it felt... It felt like something familiar in an alien world. While Scrooge was no stranger to the strange, this was something beyond even his wide range of experience. Even when other realities were taken into account, the most notable of which had at least been a version of his own world. There hadn't been anything too drastic there, short of a Scrooge McDuck who had been- shudder -free with his wallet! Broke, even!

This? Well this was... Well. It was what it was. And just like any situation, he'd just make the best of it! Hence his work at the farm, among many, many other odd jobs. He just didn't feel right without an ache in his shoulder and a jingle in his pocket. His Pokemon team may not have been many, but each of them had more than earned their place in battle. The gym challenge would be just one more thing he'd surmount, and then after that? Who knows. Maybe his own gym. Or something else...?

Seeing the sun nearly below the horizon now, he pushed up from the fence and took a moment to straighten his coat. Though it was dark he easily found his waiting Houndoom, by the embers of his eyes if nothing else. Grinning a little, Scrooge gestured, "Murthly, let's go," and started walking. Houndoom barked obediently and fell in step beside him. It was a bit of a walk to the campsite, but nothing for the two of them, even as old as Scrooge seemed. There would be a meal, a good night's sleep, and starting all over again tomorrow morning.

    Timeline: Post-Steven Universe Future

    Personality:
Peridot starts the series off as a cold and calculating figure, always seeming calm and logical. However, that changes drastically in time, starting with the reveal of Peridot's tendency to become cranky and exasperated. However, even with her anger, she was focused and diligent nearly all the time, and - as with most Homeworld Gems - she put her loyalty to her Diamond above all else. Things further change for Peridot as she starts to face off against the Crystal Gems and is ultimately left on Earth, stranded: She becomes prone to throwing what can only be described as tantrums, and her manic, frenzied side also begins to show itself in both her attempts to best the Crystal Gems, and her nervousness about being stuck on Earth with the Cluster disaster on the way.

However, once Peridot is a captive of the Crystal Gems, she gets a chance to develop an appreciation for Earth and those who inhabit it. She starts by opening up to trust Steven, but in time, this extends to the other Gems, as well. She becomes close to Garnet, starts to respect Amethyst, and even acknowledges Pearl's capabilities. She becomes fond of music/art and nature, and sees Earth not just as a source of endless resource, but peace and beauty. The value Peridot puts on friendship is put front and center when she and Lapis begin sharing life in the barn, and Peridot goes to great lengths to win her new roommate over.

Peridot still struggles socially, however, and in some ways she always will. She tends to not struggle with subtlety and subtext; she is very literal. But she's always trying to improve, and has already grown so much. A noteworthy example of this growth is her friendship with Garnet. On Homeworld, Fusion for any "impractical" reason is all but unheard of, and only Gems of the same "type" Fuse, so everything about Garnet is "wrong" according to what Peridot has been told. Yet the two of them become truly close. Another prime example of her growth is how expressive Peridot has become. She can be giddy, or moved to tears, or outraged in ways that she never could have expressed prior to her time with the Crystal Gems.

By the time Steven leaves Beach City, Peridot has in fact become empathetic, and open with her emotions. Despite her bluster and ego, she still struggles some with self-esteem, as she doesn't understand why she "deserved" the second chance she got from Steven and the rest. Simply put, she's still learning and growing, and - as is a theme in Steven Universe as a series - she always will be.

It hadn't been long after Peridot and her team arrived in Olivine City that she'd decided it would be where she set down roots. Oh, of course she still was sure that she'd get back to Little Homeworld someday! She certainly hoped so, at least, she coudn't imagine never seeing Lapis and Bismuth again... Oh, but it wasn't important right now!

Olivine had a lot to offer, most notably being on a beachfront, something Peridot had come to really appreciate back home. Sure, it wasn't ideal land for growing plants right in the city, but MooMoo Farm wasn't at all far away! And the food here was good, something she'd never had to worry about back home, but now? Now it mattered. There were plenty of things to do here, and the local Gym Leader had a preference for Steel Types, which Peridot considered in good taste. Really, there were few drawbacks, so now she had to find a place to stay within Olivine.

"Alright, Pumpkin, today's the day!" Peridot looked up to address her Super-Sized Gourgeist with a smile. (She still couldn't believe her partner had outgrown her, though... That wasn't something she liked.) Pumpkin responded with a brief, curious cry. "We're going to find a place to make our home. Somewhere with a yard for you and the others to play in, and windows that'll let in sunlight for the plants I'm going to grow!"

That certainly seemed to appeal to Pumpkin, who swung her arm-like appendages out and around herself. Peridot snickered fondly, and patted Pumpkin's side. "Exactly! Camping was fun-" She'd certainly enjoyed getting to live out that aspect of Camp Pining Hearts, her favorite tv series. "-but it's time we settled down somewhere we can really make our own. A place we can leave a mark on!" she declared, jabbing a fist in the air before bringing it down in the opposite hand's palm. She held the pose a moment, to properly honor the importance of this undertaking, then both breeder and Pokemon started to giggle.

This place may be odd, and she still longed for her gem some days, but truth be told? It was also a lot of fun!

    Canon Resource Links: Wiki Page!

The Wiki is actually fairly comprehensive for this character, so I don’t think much more needs to be added. The only addition would be that, according to official art, Elidibus plays the piano!

    Personality:

Elidibus is, above all, a very subtle individual. He is driven and loyal beyond measure to his people and their cause, but does not as a whole show such things on the surface. He is the very definition of "playing it close to his chest." He is a master at the long con, however, manipulating both individuals and events to preserve the equilibrium between Light and Darkness on their world to ensure neither one overbalances. He does, however, care incredibly deeply for his brethren, though outwardly he does not show this until much later. Those who know him closely consider him to be very earnest, a worrier with a tendency to overwork himself.

In conversation Elidibus speaks smoothly, with a melodic lilt to his voice. His is the voice of a diplomat, and with it he has guided both heroes and villains - plots and schemes that come together in a Xanatos Gambit and further the agenda of the Ascians as a whole. As Emissary, he is mostly considered to be a noncombatant unless his duty absolutely calls for it; such can be seen when he approaches Minfilia Warde of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn peacefully, and only lashed out to knock her unconscious when he was threatened.

Beyond being tempered by Zodiark, he is the Heart of the primal itself - thereby being a primal himself - and thus has even less choice than his fellow Ascians in being driven to fulfil their duty. He and they seek beyond anything to restore the Star to its previous state, unbroken, and as such nothing can sway him from his path.

Such unbridled determination serves as both strength and weakness, and especially for Elidibus as it has been shown towards the end of his canon that he is slowly losing pieces of himself - memories, etc - as time goes on. At the end all he has left is his duty. However, with the restoration of his memories just before his death, he regains all that he had lost of himself - and reveals that all he had done was out of love for his people. He dies weeping over the loss of his loved ones and their failed duty, lamenting that though the sun shines, they are not there to see it.

    Victory Road Sample:

The grief was crushing, the knowledge that not only had they failed - that he had failed, their last and final hope - but that the sun had shone once more and they were not here to see it shine. His brothers and sisters, his brethren, his loved ones gone forevermore in a fight none of them wanted from the start. He feels his form fade, tears vanishing from his cheeks as the aether which comprises his soul begins to drift away. The tower draws him near, draws him close, and Elidibus isn't sure what is to come next as grief and pain bury him. But surely it cannot be as lonely as-

    Suddenly, things change.

    The sun warms his cheeks.

    The wind caresses his face.

An unfamiliar voice sounds in his ears, and pale eyes snap open behind crimson mask to take in his surroundings - a bedroom? unfamiliar - before an adult woman enters his line of vision. The next few minutes are a whirlwind and Elidibus cannot make sense of exactly what is happening, not after his defeat, his death, not after-

He stands outside now, door locked behind him and pack in his hands. Beside him hovers a creature whose like he has never seen before, and a soft, whispering voice sounds inside of his head. The conversation is brief, but it releases the suffocating grip of emotion in his breast somewhat.

A heavy sigh, before he straightens up, opening the pack to inspect its contents. Gilded claws are careful as he sifts through, and wasn't that a comfort, to still remain dressed in his raiment of office. He finds a change of clothes and strange technology of an unfamiliar make.

Well, should others have been sent here - wherever here may be - perhaps he could use this to contact them. His duty may have been made null in this place, no fragments which he may rejoin, no salvation for the star he had been taken from, but he would still serve as Emissary.

NOTE: I'll be apping him in with his memories from his previous time in game! This is the same iteration of Elidibus as then.

    Character
    Name: Princess Allura
    Series: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Timeline: Between Seasons 4 and 5
Canon Resource Links: Series Wikipedia, Episode List with Summaries, Voltron Wiki Article

Personality: While Shiro and Keith are the leaders of the Paladins, Princess Allura serves as a commander and guide for Team Voltron at first, and later as a capable and dedicated Paladin of Voltron in her own right. As the daughter of King Alfor, the man who created the Lions and the first Red Paladin, Allura feels Voltron's duty as "defender of the innocent" as both her father's legacy and a personal responsibility. She has always been a brave and determined soul, begging Alfor to fight Zarkon even as he decided to hide her and the Lions away, and near immediately resolving to bring down the Galra Empire after learning of the destruction of her family, her planet, and her entire civilization. She is nearly implacable when she feels the right thing needs to be done or when lives are on the line, and will urge others around her to hold on to hope and keep trying until they reach victory. Off the battlefield, Allura tries to emulate her father’s gracious and diplomatic precedent, offering kindness and patience to potential allies and those in need, and doing her best to be a wise and assured mentor to the other paladins at the beginning of her journey.

Despite the strong, composed persona and noble, dedicated heart, however, Allura is not without her weaknesses. She feels her connections to Team Voltron, the war, and to her lost planet Altea keenly, having a strong case of survivor’s guilt at having lived while the rest of her people were destroyed, and often caring little whether a strategy or heat-of-the-moment choice would risk her being captured or killed. So many have died- ARE dying- because she feels she didn’t do enough to stop Zarkon when he first attacked Altea; why shouldn’t she be willing to lay her life down too? This also heavily shapes her relationships with the Paladins at first; she feels she must “portray strength” in order to properly guide the Paladins: pushing herself in her efforts to help and command the team to the point of exhausting herself multiple times, trying to keep a stiff upper lip even when deeply upset about destroying her father’s AI or being rejected by the Red Lion, even concealing Zarkon’s past as the first Black Paladin for Shiro’s sake. Her compassionate heart, her headstrong desire to act quickly, and her yearning to preserve Altea’s past have also been turned into weak points by adversaries, with Commander Hira of the alternate reality’s Alteans and especially Lotor appealing to these traits in an attempt to gain her aid while keeping her in the dark about their true intentions. When she realizes she’s been betrayed, however, Allura can reveal a temper that alternates between hot, scathing words and even physical violence, to cold, ruthless disdain and distrust, and she can be VERY stubborn about holding onto grudges formed this way. Thankfully, when she does realize she’s in the wrong, she’s quick to admit it and try to make amends, even to the point of being too hard on herself. Most of the time she is able to pick herself up and move forward despite the lingering guilt, but other times she needs the help of others- especially her best friend Lance- to realize she’s a vital member of the team and a valued part of their lives, and that all is not lost just because she makes a mistake or two along her journey.

While never fully overcome in canon (thanks, DreamWorks…), most of these scars and rough edges begin to heal and smooth once Allura is chosen by the Blue Lion of Voltron. She had already started slowly opening up to the others- especially Keith- but for a while, the only ones she could truly trust to be vulnerable with were Coran and the mice she formed a telepathic bond with while in the stasis pod together. When Shiro disappears and Keith takes over the Black Paladin, however, she encourages Lance- whom at this point she’s never really interacted with deeper than him hitting on her and her rebuffing him- that he IS worthy of being chosen by the Red Lion- her father’s Lion, the one she had hoped to pilot herself and has just been rejected by- with genuine grace and faith in him. It’s at this moment that the Blue Lion chooses HER as its new Paladin, and in turn Lance begins to mentor her in being a paladin and piloting his former Lion. This opening up becomes even more important to her new role; it’s only when she stops trying to control Blue and admits to needing help and guidance too, to this being an equal partnership, that their bond reaches its full strength and Blue allows her access the full extent of its power.

While she's still very dedicated to their fight and can still be stubborn at times, being flexible and trusting others are new forms of strength that she’s more willing to tap into now. She slowly feels more comfortable opening up to the others, asking Keith if he’s alright after losing a fellow Blade during an intelligence mission, confiding her doubts in herself and crying openly in front of them, or even acting like a normal, even playful teenage girl while partaking in a game of Monsters and Mana with the team, something she only did around the mice before. This is especially clear in her relationship with Lance, which evolves from annoyance at him, to genuine respect, friendship, to deep support and eventually mutual love.

Overall, Allura is a driven, strong-hearted young woman dedicated to giving the universe peace and freedom again, and has been slowly learning to practice what she preaches: "we are always stronger together."

Victory Road Sample: Allura glanced at the Pokédex again, grateful that the guide gave her a list of moves that Coressa knew. Even with knowing time in her reality was essentially frozen and she didn’t need to worry about the war, suddenly being in possession of a cute little white fox creature was a bit daunting. It wasn’t like with the mice, being able to understand them through a random accident, all four of them independent and competent and being more equal companions than her caring for them like pets. If anything, they were often her caretakers, making sure she wasn’t completely alone before she started befriending the other paladins and reminding her to relax in the small spaces she could. Sure, Coressa was intelligent and had a good temperament, but she was still young and soft and adorable and more dependent on Allura for care. Of course she could be responsible; as the crown princess of Altea and her territories, she born, bred, and raised to be responsible even before this blasted war. She just wished she’d been given better preparation than just being dropped in the middle of all this.

    "All right, Coressa… Powder Snow."

A chipper bark, and the Vulpix took a deep breath, blowing out a stream of glistening wind and thick, heavy snowflakes. Very pretty, Allura thought… and as the air cleared, she saw that the rock Coressa used as a target was encased in a quarter inch of clear ice. That actually got a smile out of the princess: beautiful and effective.

"Impressive." Coressa’s tails waggled in response. "Now show me… Tail Whip."

This was supposed to lower an enemy’s defenses, the guide said. Was it supposed to brush against pressure points or--

Coressa barked and gave a deep play bow in the said, swishing her six floofy white tails in the air in a fan.

"… Dear sweet Ancients, that is adorable…"
