Character Name: rebecca Series: cyberpunk: edgerunners Timeline: post series Canon Resource Links:here
Personality:
Rebecca is, at her surface, an incredibly sharp-tongued, fun-sized woman. For a side character of a ten episode prequel series though, she’s given not only animated spunk as part of her charm, but a deeper path into growth as a character who isn’t just small and yells a lot.
Because of her stature, it’s seen that Rebecca gets laughed at a lot by her enemies and she does not exactly take it with stride! She’s hotheaded and trigger happy, shown to shoot first, laugh second, then probably not think about it again later (as seen during many shots in the anime, especially the montages of her shooting manically at enemies). She’s easily insulted, and because of that is quick to snap or charges herself right into an attack that can barely be stopped by her peers on a physical level (when, for example, her brother gives her the finger, in which she actually shoots at him— the second example of this was when her brother was killed, to which she went absolutely ham on his attacker. She slinks out of protective grasps and leaps right back into danger, usually forcing her team’s hacker to short circuit what’s cybernetic of her to make her fall like a darted wild cat.
So, yes. You can capture these almost immediately: Rebecca has no in between. She either dips extreme one way or another. She is unpredictable, absolutely chaotic and definitely a little unhinged. She has little filter and doesn’t seem to fluster too easily (despite being angered quickly). But that doesn’t remove what’s actually good about her.
She’s your best girl. She’s someone you can count on for help when you need. She is ride or die absolutely all the way (this particular canon reference is a spoiler; she literally rides with her friends and does everything to get David and his girlfriend Lucy to reunite before being killed). She can be a goof to try and make her friends laugh, she is hinted to like attention and is a bit of a show off when it comes to something cool or neat she could do. She’s pretty blunt about what she feels for people (coming out to David about having feelings for him, especially during a scene where she yells “I’m tired of playing hard to get, you know!”), but she is incredibly loyal to the people she loves. She will go to great heights to help them, to stick with them— and she’s done that from the beginning of her reveal to the end of the show.

Character Name: Kisara Series: Yu-Gi-Oh Timeline: Post death Canon Resource Links:Right over here
Personality:Kindness. Despite how she may come across, she does have an urge to help those out around her where she can and always thinks of everyone else before herself. It's a noble trait in someone that is essentially an outcast without choice, but also tends to make her something of a doormat to those around her. Everyone is far more important than she is, after all, she is merely a means to help them out where she can and in whatever way she possibly can. Her life is worth far less, after all, it always has been.
Loyalty. Even without any links to have clung onto throughout her entire life, there has been at least one link that has earned her loyalty. This was due to a young boy saving her life and furthered itself in the long run when she found out who he was later down the road. For those she considers friend she would very willingly give up her own self if it meant keeping that person safe from whatever danger was being faced. It also hadn't stopped her after death, either, her spirit showing to not be done with her job just yet and making sure that her job was entirely completed before disappearing.
Timid. A very less positive personality trait, due to her long and weary life of being an outcast and the continual issues with it, she's very much timid towards anyone that's unknown. She tries to make herself appear smaller, insignificant, and not worth that person's time whether it's for the better or not. It's far better to be ignored than to be under someone's radar and once again put through hell simply for being different from those around you. New situations are not much of her forte.
Inner strength. Despite how she acts on the surface, there is a quiet inner strength within her. One that ties into her loyalty and allows for her to make decisions that would be difficult for most other people. Her soul is her strength and it manifests itself as one of the most powerful beasts that had been seen at the time. One that shows that, under the surface, she has strength to defeat the darkness that lies before her.
Loneliness. Being an outcast for your whole life puts things into a rather odd perspective, that you can't get close to anyone in fear that they'll eventually lash out at you. It makes existence rather cold and lonely, knowing that you can only count on yourself. It also makes you yearn for companionship and any sort of contact with others, leading towards... perhaps not the best decisions.

Character Name: Misaki “Night” Yamazaki Series: Original Timeline: Post-campaign / After the Formation of the New World
Original Character Background:
The campaign setting was based on a mashup of the SMT/Digital Devil Saga/Persona and Fate franchises. For the sake of this app, the serial numbers are largely filed off, and Night will not recognize canon characters including Fate Servants, except for being vaguely from a world with similar mythology, and that her own world uses similar terminology. The world that was and the world that is are both near-future Earth with some very key differences, namely the existence of magic and summonable supernatural beings all grouped broadly under the name ‘demons’. Demons range from classical, biblical demons (and…angels, for some reason), to creatures of myth and folklore from around the world, to heroes and even historical figures that been strongly mythologized. They are able to be summoned through highly specific rituals or, much more recently, via the app EDEN which has a matchmaking program for new summoners and automates much of the process. The world has essentially ended twice. Once, twenty-five years ago, in a failed apocalypse in a world almost exactly like our own, reducing human populations to being grouped largely within seven remaining cities all ruled over by their respective mage orders, with only a handful of unprotected towns existing outside of this. The world then ended (again), rewriting the timeline from that 25 years, to a more peaceful coexistence with demons, with only about a dozen people remembering the previous apocalypse and it’s results. The center of the first apocalypse was the appearance of the Qllipoth Trees, gigantic crystalline trees that tower over the world and dig deep into the world, distorting reality in accordance to wishes made by humanity around them. Every five years, the Trees would grand the wish to the victors of a contest that became known as the Holy Branch Wars or, more informally, the Tree-For-All. These wars determined what wish was granted, and usually there was only a handful of survivors. Each Order put together a team in order to battle for supremacy and gain control of the wish in question. The fifth war saw the introduction of an eighth wildcard team, overseen by Dr. Misaki Yamazaki, in order to complete the goals of the Qlipoth trees–the creation of a new world from the corpse of the old, a process that had been stalled 25 years previously. The Eighth Night (she is not very creative) would eventually succeed and trigger this new world, which was technologically much the same, but much more rich in natural magic, allowing for harmony between humans and demons. As someone who had been integral in orchestrating this and maintains a sort of contract with the Trees, Misaki remained one of the few people aware of the events of both apocalypses.
Misaki’s specific history is deeply tangled with the history of the world and it’s multiple apocalypses, marking her as a major player in the world and also as someone deeply affected by all that’s happen. It was her own father who orchestrated the events that lead to the initial death of the old world, and the tragedy that prevented the new one from being formed. In desperation, Misaki sold her own humanity and mortality to the sentient force of reality, creating the Qlipoth trees to try and buy the world a second chance. Her husband would also sell away his humanity, essentially replacing Lucifer as the great Adversary, in order to have the power necessary to save humanity and, more importantly, Misaki.
Misaki’s sacrifice gave humanity another chance, but meant she was unable to directly intervene in the wars that broke out amongst the trees. Instead, she developed the app EDEN, allowing almost anyone to summon demons and cast spells without formal training, and used the apps matchmaking to pick out several people who would become the Eighth Night. As the Fifth War dragged on and began to unravel reality, she was able to intervene only slightly more, choosing to prioritise protecting her unwieldy herd of children, both biological and adopted, with the little strength she had. Having sold her mortality, Misaki was well aware that to fail would mean living eternally in a void of non-existence, unable to move, speak, or even perceive anyone or anything else. It is possible she was aware, constantly, of the alternate timeline where such a thing did occur, and that despair haunted her until the very moment that possibility was averted.
At the very end, fighting against the machinations of Nyarlathotep (yes, that Nyarlathotep) and his pawns, Misaki was called upon to intervene for a price, and revealed the truth of her lineage–the final true heir of King Solomon. This was a lie she essentially bullshitted reality into making true, but remained true when the universe was remade, much to her chagrin.
In the new world, Dr. Yamazaki is largely a mysterious asshole who runs the largest library in the world, offering free education to those without the means for the fancier academies, and largely lives in peace with her husband and exceedingly large passel of kids. Despite having been instrumental in the formation of Sector Zero, the world’s peacekeeping organization, and brokering the initial peace treaty with demonkind, Misaki and her satanic spouse move every three to six months to avoid being bothered by anyone.
For her role in the world, Misaki is both an extraordinarily talented magician, a genius programmer, and an excellent athlete, being a former MMA competitor. Her magic is completely gone, and one assumes Arceus actively prevents her from being able to hack into the systems that keeps the world functional, but she’s still going to try, bless her heart. Indeed, the only mark of her old magical powers is her heterochromia–a mark gained by her contract with her husband, Literally Satan, signaling their connection.
Here it really just looks cool.
Personality:
Misaki is a very catlike person at her core, which is to say, an insufferable asshole who demands attention but only on her terms. A remarkable genius and powerful athlete from a young age, Misaki is driven to be the best at whatever she turns her hands to and, worse yet, is used to succeeding very quickly. She deliberately cultivates an impression of caring very little for the thoughts and feelings of those around her, and even for those she cares for and teaches, she is a harsh taskmaster, constantly pushing people to their limits to see as rapid improvement as possible.
Misaki is impatient, judgemental and often arrogant, used to being the smartest person in the room, but it is not to say she has no redeeming qualities. She is deeply and fiercely protective of the people who worm through her armor, and endlessly enthusiastic about the successes of her loved ones. For the people she considers family, there is very little she won’t do for them if asked, and she will often quietly go out of her way to leave presents or solve problems for them, in a way that makes it obvious she’s done so while she’s elsewhere. Being emotionally vulnerable is embarrassing and she would rather swallow glass than admit when she’s done someone genuine kindness. The only exceptions to this appears to be animals and small children–while Misaki prefers cats obviously and greatly to literally any other creature, she still enjoys the company of most animals and would point out there’s no point in making a performance to impress or deceive them–their standards are different. With children, she will wave it off as just disliking to see small children lonely, a remnant of her own father’s abandonment. In truth, given her own startling number of offspring, it’s possible she just really likes kids.
As someone who loves the potential of humanity but has largely been soured on individuals, Misaki loves history and science, and scrambles to learn anything she can about those topics. A deeply inquisitive individual, she also eats gossip up with a spoon, to the point of doing things like laying magical eavesdropping devices or skittering around in the vents of a hotel she owns to listen in on people. She’s reluctant to speak directly on anything she knows, but if you can somehow corner her on a topic, she can be a lively and excitable conversation partner, and while it deeply hurts her pride to find out she doesn’t know something, she will then throw herself completely into learning about that topic.
In a PG-13 world such as pokemon, Misaki is going to be intensely frustrated by how little she knows, but deeply excited to explore and learn, and will take to the competitive nature of battling like tiger to water. As pokemon are animals, she will take great care of her own and will make a point of being only a jackass to other trainers and not their pokemon. She may in fact be more of a jackass to other trainers to compensate.

Character
Name: Kiritsugu Emiya Series: Fate/Zero Timeline: Directly after Kiritsugu commands Saber to destroy the grail. Canon Resource Links: Fate/Zero synopsis Kiritsugu background
Personality:
“And there you go. Our Heroic Spirit over there, considers a battlefield to be something better than Hell. What a joke. A battlefield is Hell itself. There’s no hope to be had one. There is nothing but unspeakable despair. Just a soulless cry we call victory, paid for by the pain of the defeated. But humanity has never recognized this truth. And the reason is that, in every era, a dazzling hero has blinded the people with their legends, and kept them from seeing the evil of bloodshed they bring. True human nature has not advanced a step beyond the Stone Age. [...] I will win the Holy Grail and save the world. And I will wage that war with the most appropriate weapons at my disposal. Justice and Righteousness cannot save the world. I care nothing for such things.”
To understand Kiritsugu Emiya, you must first unravel the core of his ideology. He follows a very utilitarian mindset amounting to 'the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few,' taking it to its most logical extreme. Kiritsugu is a man who would kill one innocent life to save ten lives without a second thought, and that is by no means an exaggeration. He'd do anything he could to save the largest number of people, and we see this expressed time and again: from shooting his father in cold blood as a young boy-- for being at the center of the ghoul outbreak in his village, to shooting down a ghoul infested jet his surrogate mother happened to be riding-- simply because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Servicing the greater good became his mantra, further reinforced by his wish for the Grail - to enact humanity's salvation - and the trails he endures throughout the course of his series.
Kiritsugu does not see himself as a 'good' man, but rather, that his purpose in life is a necessary evil. This purpose shapes his persona as "The Magus Killer."
When we are first introduced to Kiritsugu, he is sitting in a vacant and oppressive room, waiting in silence as his wife gives birth to their child. This is symbolic for a multitude of reasons. Knowing that his wife, Irisviel, is the embodiment of the Holy Grail and slated to die at the end of the Holy Grail War, he sees himself as having no place in her-- or his child's life, preferring to remove himself from the picture altogether. And when he is called in to view his newborn daughter, he can only remark upon his despair, reminding Iri that he will 'be the cause of her death.' Unrelenting, Irisviel assures him that he is a worthy father because he pursues a world where his child would not have to cry, and in turn, makes him accept his duty as Illyasviel's father.
This mindset is integral to his projection of self. To the world, he wants to be seen as cold and detached-- even callus, to achieve his goals. He feels personal attachments only weigh him down, and ultimately soften his heart. It's not that he doesn't enjoy, or find pleasure in these attachments. Quite the contrary. His wife and child are the most important people in his life. When he later saves Shirou from the fire, he is described to be 'overcome with joy' and to be the one 'truly' saved that night. It's also said that when he is separated from his daughter after the Grail War, he travels overseas many times, to fruitlessly attempt to retrieve her from the Einzberns. More than anything, his heart yearns for them! But he is at once convinced he is not deserving of them, and feels pain from the joy they bring.
It is also to be noted that as both a mage and a combatant, that Kiritsugu is not averse to using underhanded and 'dirty' methods to accomplish his goals. In a scene where he's playing with his daughter, he knowingly claims wingnut branches to be chestnut ones, when they are very obviously not. Illyasviel calls him out for 'cheating,' which he then responds he can only win by doing so. He carries this mindset to the battlefield as 'The Magus Killer,' specializing in anti-magic techniques that mages would not typically plan to defend against. This is said to include sniping, poisoning, and using bombs in public places-- among others. In the Holy Grail War, he opted to eliminate the others mages by singling out, and kill them one after the other, as opposed to challenging their servants to a straightforward and honest fight. If given the opportunity, he would have likely killed all the other mages this way, regardless of what kind of person they actually were.
It might sound contradictory that a man who seeks peace, would do so by committing horrendous and violent acts. But this is the logical conclusion his mind has come to, stemming from his own experiences as a child. His dream, at that point in his life, was to become a 'hero of justice.' There was an inherent desire in Kiritsugu to do good, to protect the weak by vanquishing evil in the world. It was only when his childhood friend and assistant to his father, a girl named Shirley, broke into his father's possessions and drank one of his potions to prove his work a success, that Kiritsugu is forced to realize the hefty price of his ideals.
When Kiritsugu is presented with an opportunity to kill Shirley, as the vampiric core of the ghoul outbreak in his village, he opts to run away, and later comes to hold this against himself. It's around this point he's stopped by a woman named Natalia (who he later comes to see a mentor and surrogate mother) who was sent to the Island as a freelancer by the Mage's Association to find and dispose of the mage responsible for the pandemic. After speaking with her, he takes it upon himself to be the one to kill his father, realizing that his death would prevent countless others.
Similarly, when he is much older, he is faced with the decision to shoot down an jetliner Natalia had boarded in a mission to pursue a target, as all its passengers become infected with the mage's bees and are turned into zombies. There is a part of Kiritsugu that desperately wanted to save her, but became convinced the potential loss of life outweighs the risk were it to land, opting to shoot it down himself.
No matter how much he might care for a person, his ideals win out at the end of the day.
It is only in his pursuit of the Grail, he is forced to see the shortcomings of his own myopic worldview. The Grail tells him that his wish for peace can only be accomplished by methods known to him, and shows him visions of how destructive this worldview can be by making him relive the deaths of his loved ones by his own hand, to where he is finally shown to a room where he is left in a room wife and daughter. His true 'peace' upon the earth. He rejects this vision, of course, and with it, the Grail, acting in a last ditch effort and using his two remaining command seals to order his servant to destroy it.
We can conclude by this that, while Kiritsugu is a very flawed man, he is not a totally irredeemable one. Ultimately, he has good intentions in his heart in spite of himself, and when divorced from conflict, his desires are quite simplistic. He is a doting father and husband, who would whatever he could for his family within the confines of his ideals. When stripped down, his need to help even becomes downright altruistic! It is merely that he cannot see past himself, and puts the needs of the many before even his own.

Character Name: Sephiroth Series: Final Fantasy VII Timeline: End of Advent Children Canon Resource Links:Sephiroth wiki, FFVII stuff
Personality: Before Sephiroth’s mind fractured into insanity he was actually a relatively caring individual though he did not always outwardly show it. He held a bit of a reputation for being stoic and cold, but in reality he just did not fit in very well with other people. Sephiroth always felt as though he were different. That he stood off to the side from most. He did have friends, but those were few. The ones who managed to get close to him he held in high regard even to the point of outright refusing to go on a mission to hunt them down.
For the most part he respects intelligence or otherwise anyone who can match him in some way. While he himself can be arrogant that is mostly due to his overbearing sense of confidence. He’s a calm, collected individual who rarely falls to frustration and otherwise seemingly cannot be annoyed. This is not completely true, but he’s the type of person who manages to keep themselves under control and does not show much to the outside world. Which is what originally earned him his reputation. What others don’t see is that he actually has a very dry sense of humor, can smile, and does occasionally enjoy the company of others.
Now after he learns the truth surrounding his birth, the experiments involved in his creation, everything changes. Gone is the calm and caring individual only to be replaced with one filled with hate and vengeance. He despises humanity after this point wishing to destroy them all. The arrogance and sense of superiority people thought he held in the past comes to full fruition as he tosses aside any connection he felt to humans -- something he does not really consider himself any longer. Scientists used DNA from an alien creature they called Jenova in his creation, the only name he was ever given when growing up. The person he believes is his mother (when in fact he does have a human mother he does not know about). She is the only one she considers of any worth despite being an ancient long-dead corpse by this point.
When he first learned of the experiments he was actually horrified at the idea that he might not be human, but the more he read about it, the more he learned -- he leaned into the idea and fully accepted it as something he should be. With that he developed a god complex and felt that he was above everyone else. He’s vastly superior to everyone else and should rule high above them all. Like Jenova he feels he’s some sort of god-like being destined to rule the planet. No one can stand against him. No one can defeat him. Therefore he should be able to reshape things as he wishes.
One person does manage to best him though (Cloud), he manages to do so three different times, and as a result Sephiroth develops a complete and utter obsession with the man. He wants nothing more to break, torment, and otherwise terrorize him -- though at the same time he also makes Cloud the very center of his existence to a point where he actually relies on the other’s memories to keep himself going. This gives him something of tunnel vision later where he cares very little for those around him except for Cloud to a point where nothing else seems to matter. Humanity started out as the object of his hate and then it evolved into orbiting around one singular person.
Now despite all of this, he does still retain his calm and collected demeanor. He still cannot be easily (outwardly) angered, frustrated or otherwise annoyed. The air of arrogance and superiority to others never seems to leave though.

Character Name: IV aka. Thomas Arclight Series: Yu-Gi-OH! Zexal Timeline: episode 58: "Swimming With Sharks", after he collapsed next to the bed of his little brother Canon Resource Links:Wiki link here. Disclaimer that the wiki entry tends to concentrate on the English Dub version of the series, which shows in the use of some changed names and the harmless-talking of some events in the series that happened in the English version of it.
Personality:
(Disclaimer that this focuses mainly on the way things are during season one, since that's the canon point I'm taking him from.)
Depending on who you ask, people will describe IV's personality wildly different. To his fans, IV is the Asia Champion; a very popular Pro Duelist who is well-known and loved for being basically the embodiment of a modern noble knight, to the point where he is nicknamed “the Gentleman Duelist.” As such he is famous for being humble, patient, empathic and approachable - a person with a sweet smile who is as genteel outside the playing field as he is a merciless opponent when he does fight. Truly a man to whom 'fanservice' is more than just a word, and one who would see even those who did him wrong rather be given the chance to realize their mistakes and grow from them than to see them punished.
To his older brother, IV is the black sheep of the family, a good for nothing who lost any trace of good he had in him a long time ago. The IV Christopher knows is a hotheaded, childish bully who is prone to grudges and who takes out his frustrations on those most vulnerable to him: his own fans. It's an open secret in the Arclight family that IV has a nasty habit of inviting some random 'lucky' fans to one-on-one meetings with special "fanservice" provided by yours truly, which will inevitably devolve into IV crushing them both mentally and physically as violently as possible. IV is unsavory, but he is also good at what he does and has every reason to be loyal to his family, which makes him in turn useful to keep around, even when they clash at every turn.
To his enemies, IV is an egoistical narcissist, merciless, ruthless and shameless all alike, a vile con-man and coward if there ever was one. IV is a snake in the grass who adds insult to injury by having a bite that's as nasty as his lies when one actually manages to corner him.
On the other hand, IV's younger brother Michael will tell a vastly different story. To Michael, IV is still his big brother Thomas: the rowdy middle sibling who'd steal his cards when he felt like he wasn't being given enough attention, but who'd also return them the moment Michael'd get truly upset. IV is the brother that always looked out for and stuck with him, even if it meant getting hurt while picking a fight with all the bullies in the orphanage at once, just to get Michael’s toy back. Michael sees both the good and the bad in IV. He knows about IV's violence toward his fans, his penchant for coming off as arrogant and egoistical as possible - all those are traits that IV never tried to hide from him. But Michael also knows how much it takes for IV to constantly keep up the act. He knows that IV has loving and vulnerable sides, that he’s doing everything only for them, and that his brother is stretching himself far further out to be what his family needs him to be than what IV can actually bear. It wouldn't be fair to judge a man who's coming apart by his seams when he’s doing it all for you, would it?
To his father, IV is merely a handy tool. His son's good acting and dueling skills has made it easy to have both the monetary needs and influence to enact his revenge covered. With his violence and manipulating, IV is both Tron's attack dog and his bait, ready to be sacrificed to haul in the one bigger one. IV is something to be dismissed, laughed at and used and discarded, no matter how much his son growls at him, because in the end IV is still foolishly loyal and harbors an idealistic dream for seeing their family whole again.
And to IV? IV is basically the human equivalent of a dog turned bad by those who own him, and he knows it.
His bragging and boisterous self-importance is as much a personal trait as it's a defense mechanism to hide the fact that he's the let-down between the three siblings, and has been made over and over aware of that fact for a long time. In the same vein, his abuse of his fans is in a way both venting and a shoutout in response to just how much he has been driven into a desperate corner -- having to put on an act and deny himself constantly to be worth something in the eyes of the world on one side, act as the ruthless henchman without a conscience in a feeble attempt to restore his father back to his right mind and save their family on the other. All while the same father only laughs at him, his older brother retreats into acting like an emotionless robot and his baby brother putting on the pressure by keeping up the hopes for their lost messed-up nut job of a family finding a way to put themselves back together alright again. And IV is straight in the middle of it all.
He is observant enough to know that all this isn't going to come to a good end, and that the twisted monster that became of their father doesn't care for them at all. He knows that there's no real chance to have things ever turn back to how they once were. And yet he still can't turn his back on it. IV can't stop longing for the love of a father that might as well no longer exist, nor is he capable to turn his back on a chance to restore their family, no matter how abysmal it logically is. That's why he grudgingly does all the terrible things his father bids him to do.
Once everything is said and done, IV still retains a decent sense of morals. While he loves toeing the line, he refuses to go too far (except for against Shark), as evidenced when he accepted getting seriously hurt in order to safe Shark's sister. He might be a bad human who takes a stubborn sense of pride in being what he is, but in the end he’s still only human ...which becomes his undoing over and over again.
In Yu-Gi-Oh the theme and used dueling strategies of a character reflect their personality. In a family where he is surrounded with personal dueling themes like Heraldic Beasts, High-tech Sci-Fi Space Stations and Conquerors & Ancient Aliens IV's theme are broken, cursed dolls. This speaks a lot about what kind of person IV is and sees himself as, since he created that deck.

Character Name: Mandy Ramirez Series: Original Timeline: After Nevermore's second defeat.
Original Character Background: - Their world: The mundane elements of Amanda's world can be best compared to Earth circa 1995, or rather, Earth as portrayed in shonen anime circa 1995. It's an era of relative prosperity, energy is cheap but not terribly eco-friendly, home electronics are ubiquitous but still fairly chunky, fashion favors bright colors, synthetic fabrics, and fanny packs. This is, broadly, referred to as the human world - in contrast to the Pogemon world, a bucolic, pastoral alternate reality which for the past several years has been increasily easily accessed through magical portals generated by the pure shared love of pogs.
Yeah. Like the little cardboard discs? In this world, the game played with them is a little more complex than the one in our world, taking on elements of a collectable card game such as Magic: the Gathering, Yugioh!, or, well, the Pokemon TCG. In the basic, mundane version of the game, monster pogs are powered up by landing pogs with upgrades or special moves on top of them. However, for reasons that are not well understood and in fact are probably just "anime logic", frequent games of pogs can open portals to the Pogemon world, allowing living Pog Monsters to pass through and form empathic bonds with the players of the game. Once such partnerships are formed, the game takes on an entirely different aspect, with the Pogemon engaging in physical (albeit usually theatrical) combat and recieving genuine power increases from the support pogs. Pogemon can be broadly classified in to three types, Animal, Vegetable, and Mineral, with a rock-paper-scissors style cycle of advantage and weakness; strategy typically depends more on playing to the strengths and weaknesses of a particular monster than on gaming out abstract mechanics. With sufficiently close bonds between a Pogemon and their human "Slammer", the Pogemon can undergo pogmentation and take on a temporary second, stronger form during battle.
Although this game is relatively recent - the first physical Pogemon having arrived a little over three years ago - it has already become a massive cultural phenomenon, leading to the constrution of specialized infrastructure (and in the region most prone to portals, the construction of a new city, Pogtopia City), the elevation of the most successful Slammers to celebrity status, and at least two near-world-ending events that people are perhaps a little too sanguine about, because again, 90s monster-buddy anime logic, a thing I am sure we are all familiar with here at Victory Road. - Their history: Mandy spent most of her later childhood and early teens in foster care; there's no single great tragedy that lead to this, just a lot of bad luck and poor choices on the part of her caregivers leading to a kid who's lost track of whatever familial connections she might have had left, getting bounced around from household to household. If asked, she's not going to spin some great dramatic tale about it - it sucked, she got tough, she doesn't really want to talk about it. And she did get tough; by the time the fad for pogs turned into the Pogemon phenomenon, Mandy was just shy of 15 and prone to getting into fights at the drop of a hat. The well-meaning foster parent who gave her her first pogs probably hoped that she'd channel her confrontational impulses into the game.
It worked, although admittedly not in the way intended. Mandy quickly managed to summon and bond with a cartoon motercycle Pogemon named Hot Rodney, who on the one hand was probably the most stable influence in her life in years. On the other hand, once the pair had established themselves in the local battling scene, Hot Rodney was only too happy to encourage Mandy in her schemes to run away to Pogtopia City and pursue competetive battling full time.
She was good at it. They were good at it, a highly efficient team that quickly rose to the top of the newly established rankings. Admittedly, Mandy did not make many friends among the other Slammers; she didn't feel the need to. After winning the first official Pogemon Championship tournament, the pair enjoyed a brief time as legitimate celebrities, easily supporting themselves on sponsorships, prize money, and exhibition matches. They didn't allow themselves to slack off, though; a fancy televised match was all well and good, but both Mandy and Hot Rodney continued to thirst for chances to prove just how formidable they were.
The chance that presented itself was a little too real - a powerful Pogemon named Nevermore had his gaze set on conquering both the Pogemon and Human worlds, and the authorities of the Pogemon world put out a call for the uniquely powerful bonded human-pogemon teams to stop him. Naturally, Mandy rose to the challenge, alongside one of the few teams that had given her and Rodney a serious challenge in the tournament ring, an almost painfully cheerful girl named Katie and her equally adorable bird Pogemon partner, Rappy. The four ultimately defeated Nevermore, at great cost - during the final battle, Rappy managed to acheive an unprecidented second pogmentation, proof of the strength of his bond of friendship with Katie... and Hot Rodney was outright killed, making Mandy the first known Slammer to have that bond severed by the untimely death of her partner.
Without Katie and Rappy's help, Mandy managed to make it back to the Human world, but she was deeply traumatized by the loss and by the time she managed to pull herself together a little she found herself thoroughly fallen from grace. Katie resolutely vouched for her heroism in their battle against Nevermore and remained as much of a friend as Mandy would allow, but Mandy had never been well-liked by the competition in the first place, and many Slammers viewed her with suspicion for the loss of her partner. Mandy herself was stricken with survivor's guilt and also could not quite shake the feeling that Nevermore was not as thoroughly defeated as the others believed, and she spent much of the next year sinking into depression, living off her savings, and generally avoiding people.
When the next year's Pogemon Championship rolled around, Mandy spent most of the tournament hanging around the periphary, no longer able or desiring to enter, but not quite able to stay away, either. For their part, Katie and Rappy progressed smoothly through the tournament, until being defeated by a mysterious lone Pogemon - a prodigy fighter with whom Mandy had a few run ins of her own, as Aniel turned out to be an old friend of Hot Rodney, and was openly hostile to his friend's disgraced Slammer.
Then, at the end of the tournament, a rift between the two worlds briefly opened above the pitch, showing Nevermore's base of operations, fully rebuilt; in the days that followed, portals allowed scores of hostile Pogemon working for Nevermore into Pogtopia City. News soon broke that Nevermore had been sheltering with one of the leading figures of the rising Slammer's Union, shattering Mandy's already shakey faith in the organization. Mandy ignored official calls for unpartnered humans to stay out of the fight, going after the invading pogminions with a tire iron, and a year's worth of repressed anger. Still unpartnered, she nonetheless began carrying support pog items with her - sometimes to hand out to people who could put them to better use, but mostly because it made her feel better.
After stumbling through a portal into the Pogemon world, Mandy had a brief meeting with the Pogemon ruling council, with whom she still held some status after her part in foiling Nevermore's previous attempt to seize power. They granted her one of several pogs which, used in tandem, would indefinitely imprison a sufficiently weakened Nevermore - without a partner, she would not be able to use it, but the council trusted her to either bond with a new partner or hand off the pog to someone who would be able to put it to use.
Mandy expected to do the latter; however, a short time later, she encountered the Lone Pogemon, Aniel, struggling alone against a massive ambush of pogminions. She managed to get him to safety, and, after an overwrought first-aid session, they agreed to bond in order to take on Nevermore together and avenge Hot Rodney. They joined forces with a number of other slammer teams, including Katie and Rappy, to confront Nevermore; after a hard-fought battle, Mandy was the first to slam a prison pog down, and insisted on taking personal custody of the defeated villain to deliver him to the council personally.
Having defeated the Pogemon that killed her original partner, Mandy returned to the human world with a good bit more peace of mind and a new partner with whom she still shares an uneasy alliance. While their bond remains intact and if needed they're prepared to team up again, Mandy and Aniel have agreed to give each other some space. Mandy is turning her attention, and her remaining influence, to advocating for the inlusion of Pogemon in the Human world in contexts other than competetive battling. She's keeping a wary eye on the Slammer's Union, and finally kindling a genuine friendship with Katie.
Personality: Mandy has a deep drive to prove herself, a drive that she has for most of her life channeled into being extremely competetive and confrontational. Although the events of the past year have left her a little more introspective and grounded, she can still be very rough around the edges - quick to rise to a challenge, quick to anger, and with little concern for etiquette or respectability. She's used to depending on herself, her own wits, and (more recently) one other person with whom she is extremely in tune; she may instinctively rebuff aid when offered, preferring to succeed or fail on her own abilities than to depend on someone whose motives she does not know or trust.
On the other hand, she's very bright in a poorly educated way - she dropped out of a patchy highschool education to pursue professional monster battling full time - and a talented strategist, and if placed in a situation where she has to work with others, she prefers to be in control to some degree. If this is acknowledged and allowed, she's a brusque but effective leader, paying particular attention to members of the group that she sees as less confident or likely to be talked over. If she's expected to simply fall in line, she quickly becomes resentful and sullen or simply ignores directions in order to follow the course of action she feels is best; she has, as a rule, very little trust or patience for authority figures.
Mandy is used to being self-sufficient by now, but still well enough acquainted with poverty and dependency that she takes that self-sufficiency very seriously; failure is less a blow to her ego than it is a threat to her entire self-image and, often, to her way of life. The downward spiral of the year after Hot Rodney's death only reinforced this belief system; having finally taken steps to rebuild, she's determined not to let anything undermine her hard-won progress toward recovery - and while things have been on a definite upswing for her, grief and recovery are not linear, resulting in the occasional bad day that can easily develop into a full-blown crisis of confidence. She's more than a bit of a perfectionist; as long as she lives up to her own standards, she's brash and more than a little cocky, but if she falls short of her own demands on herself, she has a tendency to reject outside reassurance and obsess over her own failures.
Whether recruiting her to a cause, reassuring her in a crisis, or simply building a friendly rapport, peers are much better able to get through to Mandy than adults are - while she is slow to open up to anyone, and has a tendency to put up walls of dismissive or aggressive behavior, Mandy is not immune to the Power of Friendship. She's got a bit of a protective streak, as well - which may just as easily be directed at other teenagers that she percieves as vulnerable or inexperienced as at smaller children or animals. She's recently discovered a fondness for mentoring or coaching, as well; weaknesses or mistakes that would be ripe for exploitation if she were competing with someone are just kind of frustrating to watch when she's on the sidelines, and offering unsolicited advice is one of the ways she's most comfortable approaching people she does't know well.

Victory Road Sample: The last thing Mandy had been looking for was a new partner.
Of course, she wasn’t exactly pleased by the whole abruptly dumped into another universe with no warning thing, especially since it was, apparetnly, the dead of winter here, but that she could deal with. Had dealt with before. If nothing else, Mandy was adaptable; she had little doubt that if she kept her nose to the grindstone she’d either find her way home, or, failing that, figure out how to make her way in this world. It wasn’t like there was a lot waiting for her back home at this point. Vindication had not actually restored much more than her self-esteem.
But she didn’t need some cheerful little ring of keys following her around. When she’d found the pokeball in her gear, she’d let the Klefki loose and tried to shoo it off.
The cheerful little ring of keys had other ideas.
“I’m tellin’ you kid, I’m a bad risk,” she said, raising her voice just a little. She didn’t stop and look over her shoulder to see if the Klefki was still following; she didn’t really need to. The darn thing jingled, and from the sound of it it was having no difficulty keeping up with her.
“Klef!” the creature objected, because of course it couldn’t even manage intelligable speech. It bobbed around her head, curiously investigating her piercings.
After a long moment – longer than it needed to be, although Mandy would not have admitted it – she slowed to a stop in the middle of the path. She certainly hadn’t felt anything like a Pogemon bond, but it was clear that this pokemon had no intention of clearing off. If the little weirdo wasn’t going to leave her alone… she hooked a finger though the Klefki’s loop, dragging it around in front of her face. “I am not gonna go easy on you,” she warned, wagging a finger in its little face. “You’re gonna pull your weight. Such as it is. Understand?”
“Kiiii!”
“Yeah, let’s see if you still feel that way in a few days,” she sighed, digging in her pocket. “Here, you like keys, right.”

Character Name: Steven Armstrong Series: Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Timeline: Post-Death Canon Resource Links:Senator Armstrong’s Wiki Page
Personality: Armstrong is a man who spent the majority of his in-service to a government that he saw as noble and just, only to have this perception shattered and the rug pulled-out from under him when the Patriots’ decades of manipulation were brought to light. With the destruction of the Patriot AI systems the world was supposed to be free at last from the shackles of the Illuminati-like control that they’d languished under since the 80s but, rather than a new golden age, what resulted was a severe economic depression and criminal resurgence. Armstrong was at the forefront of governance in the United States at this time, and saw first-hand that social parasites came out of the woodwork to to take advantage of the chaos and prey upon those who were only trying to survive. Seeing those who’s duty it was to stand against this simply join in the feeding frenzy helped to confirm a fear that Armstrong had been entertaining for some time now; That America was rotten to the core.
Dedicating himself to the goal of uprooting the corrupt foundations of the United States, Armstrong began dipping his fingers into the burgeoning Private Military market and found people who had been hurt by the Patriots’ system but had the strength to come out the other side of their experiences stronger than they’d been before. Armstrong was a true believer in his cause, and could genuinely express the good that his endgame would bring about to those he brought in to his confidence. Though campy from the outside, his beliefs in restoring the government to something that actually served the people that elected it rather than one that preyed upon it was something many people agreed with. His success in politics was largely based upon this platform and, though he admits that he doesn’t write his own speeches, Armstrong has shown himself to be a natural orator on more than one occasion.
As a person Armstrong is passionate about nearly everything he invests himself into and has a strong sense of duty, but subscribes strongly to the “kill one - save a million” school of thought and so is willing to do a great many things that would be called terrible if he believes the ends will justify the means. This is well-summarized when he tells Raiden that “I’m making the mother of all omelettes here Jack. I can’t cry about every egg.” and sets the stage well for the many crimes he proceed to commit over the course of Metal Gear Rising. Though he’s content to let others do his wetwork Armstrong is a highly physical man, maintaining a physique comparable to a professional fighter in his 50s, and demonstrating impressive skill in hand-to-hand combat. His experience in the Navy seems to have made him comfortable in combat as well, and the technical skills he picked-up in his career have obviously been kept-sharp as he remains completely comfortable with both advanced weapon systems and near-future level electronics and appliances. Overall Armstrong is powerful person, both in terms of mind and body, and possesses a dangerous level of conviction towards his beliefs.

Samples RP Sample:Sample Thread Victory Road Sample: [Armstrong wakes up in an oddly familiar bed. Glancing over, he sees that he’s on the same kind of bunk he’d slept on in the Navy for years. The bunk brings back all manner of memories but also sparks a thousand questions, foremost of which is how he’s even waking up in the first place. His last memories were of having his nanite heart ripped from his chest, so there’s no way in hell someone had the tools to put him back together from something like that considering where it had all happened. Still, unless this was some perverse VR training, he was still alive and that merited further investigation.]
What in the goddamn?!
[Upon sitting up he immediately realizes that he’s still wearing the same clothes he’d worn during his battle against Jack. The torn remnants of his formal shirt still hung about his waist like the tattered martial arts Gi seen in so many anime, and his trousers and shoes were still there just as they’d been back in Shabhazabad. So he really had just been scooped-up after all that craziness… how bizarre.]
Well hey, guess that means I still have my smokes eh?
[Fully aware that he’s talking to himself, Armstrong stands up and checks his back pocket. Sure enough his lighter and stogies were still safely tucked away, though the cigars were more than a little crushed due to having been laid-on.]
Damn. Still… better than nothing.
[Spotting what looks like a pile of clothes sitting atop a dresser Armstrong makes his way over to the curious stack. There was a uniform that looked like someone’s idea of if a London Paperboy broke bad, though it at least seemed sized to fit him. Some boots, gloves, and a belt were there as well but all in a bright enough white that whoever picked them out was definitely looking to make a statement. Besides the pile, though, lay two spheres that immediately stop him in his tracks.]
No… way…
[Spotting a note, Armstrong snatches the thing up begins reading through it furiously.]
It can’t be.
[As soon as he fixes upon the words “Team Rocket” his eyes widen in disbelief.]

Character Name: amaterasu. Series: valkyrie connect. Timeline: post chapter 30-5: awakened soul Canon Resource Links: wikia link ( i know this is e x t r e m e l y scarce. ) information on her journal introductory story*
*please note that after new management took over the game, amaterasu's accent where she adds vowels to words like “boxu,” “incredibulu” and says things like “fiyah” instead of “fire” were replaced. I have examples of her using these on her journal. You can find them here and here.
Personality: the epitome of self-absorbed, amaterasu loves herself very, very much and considers herself one of the best kami in existence. her self image may well be as high as it is due to being the highly regarded "mighty rising sun" goddess in her original world. she is worshiped and prayed to for good fortune by the humans in yamato and it suits her. it makes her a proud individual that she can tend to the people she loves in a manner that keeps them, generally, happy.
her self pride borders on detrimental because at the drop of a pin she can ( and will ) challenge someone if she happens to feel threatened, insulted or as though someone is encroaching on her greatness in some manner or another. an excellent example of that pride causing her to toe the line is when she first meets the rune knife wielder, skuld and hel-- even before they actually get too far into their conversation, amaterasu refers to them as "cretins" and then later as "heathens" when they insult her appearance not being akin to what they pictured as the "greatest goddess of yamato who is ancient and majestic." this results in amaterasu showing off her fiery temper which is something that tends to land her into trouble.
her temper makes her somewhat bullheaded. the kami has her moments of rushing into things without rational decision because she simply feels she's the best of the best, and nothing could possibly stop her. the most use threat the kami has is that she will light up whomever is insulting or attacking her with the use of her "fiyah" ( fire ) elemental abilities which are stunningly overpowered due to her being literally the sun. in spite of her magic being a phenomenal strength to her character, it tends to get her into a lot of trouble because she uses it without thought. if her flames don't work, though, she's not above using her own fists which also pack a powerful punch because of supernatural strength due to being a kami.
on the flip side, due to being what is essentially a fire elemental being, she hates and is afraid of the water. when even the lightest sprinkle of rain begins to pour her entire persona begins to change into that of a meek, quiet girl who is absolutely desperate to get out of the water by any means possible. amaterasu grows weaker without the warmth of the sun's rays and with the sun blocked by clouds, and the world around her dampened with rain, she becomes quite depressed which is unlike her typical, loud sunny self.
amaterasu is loud-- very loud. just like her vibrant and opulent attire, the kami speaks with a boisterous tone which is, for the most part, friendly in nature. she does often turn to violence and threats but unbelievably, she's also one of the most friendly kami's that can be met within the whole of midgard where she prefers to reside. she has a soft spot for her family and her followers, both of which are pretty large parts of her life. tsukuyomi is her twin sister whom is the kami representing the moon to oppose herself being the sun. she also has a brother, susano-o, whom is the raging spirit of yamato who has a tendency to lose control kind of akin to his older sister albeit a bit more dangerously-- if one can imagine it.
unable to have the moon and the sun in the same place at the same time, tsukuyomi; in spite of being the older sister of the two, has given up her spot as the leading kami within yamato to allow amaterasu having reign. a big part of being separated from her sister leaves her rather sad and longing for her sibling but it causes her to be fully devoted to her people and is in large part why she resides on midgard with them rather than asgard with the other gods and goddesses. she's very determined to protect her people which is depicted in the main story of the game in how very willing she is to join the others in attempting to stop ragnarok from happening. she doesn't want anything to happen to her people or her family, having a soft spot for both. as an example, tsukuyomi and amaterasu; in their youths, used to taunt and tease their younger brother going as far as forcing him to be squished inside boxes ( for whatever reason ) but if push came to shove, she would protect him with the fierceness she shows in all things she does.
in spite of being a loud, excitable person, she has the ability to be very sweet which is mostly seen with her people within yamato. she has a soft spot for humans in particular although it can be argued that she adores all beings -- unless they are her ( legitimate ) enemies. she is fiery and willing to drop things to engage in combat or conversation with other beings; however, she is also very, very lazy and is prone to, like snorlax, drop onto the ground and let herself sleep wherever she may fall. as a kami, she doesn't really have a need for sleeping but this is something she must have taken up from the humans that she loves so much because she seems to particularly enjoy sleeping in place of being awake -- most notably, amaterasu is asleep on a road when the rune knife wielder first meets her! although the party attempts to warn her off of sleeping in the middle of roads, she continues to nap wherever the sun shines its rays the most to be engulfed in their warmth.
