We ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

The comment character limit on Dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

While players are welcome to play multiple characters (five characters maximum are allowed per player!), please only apply for one character at a time, and wait for a decision before submitting another application!

Original Character Background: THIS SECTION IS FOR ORIGINAL CHARACTERS AND CUSTOMIZABLE/SILENT PROTAGONISTS ONLY! In lieu of canon resources, please write for us at minimum 2-3 full paragraphs describing the following for your character:
- Their world (OCs): Is it magic? Medieval? Futuristic? An Earth like ours?
- Their history (OCs and customizable/silent protagonists): What have been the key events in their lives to date? What kind of background do they have?
- For customizable/silent protagonists: How are you justifying your portrayal of the character? What is your in-canon evidence? Please explain how, if your character lacks dialogue or a set background, you determined their history and personality.

Personality: Give us at minimum 2-3 full paragraphs of how you understand your character's personality. Talk about basic characteristics, any major developments over the course of their canon, their motives, their social behavior, strengths and weaknesses, and anything else you can think of that shows off your knowledge of this character.

Affiliation: What career path will your character be taking? Breeder, Trainer? Or maybe even down the dark path of becoming a member of Team Rocket? Note: All Rocket members start as grunts. (For right now, only those three positions are available, whether your character chooses to follow their assigned path or not.)
Starter: What starter Pokémon do you want your character to have? Please use the list linked above to choose from.

Samples
RP Sample: The sample must be a thread, with at least five comments from you, that you have made anywhere with this character in the last four months at the canon point you have chosen for said character. Linking to a post or log containing multiple threads will also suffice, as long as at least one of the threads has the required number of comments. This thread sample can be in any format (e.g. network post, prose log, actionspam, Dear Mun post, and so on). While it does not have to be set in Victory Road's setting, you can use a Victory Road test drive thread for this sample, as long as it's a different thread than one used for the second sample below. What we are looking for here is grasp of your character's voice and a sense of how you operate as a role-player. If we feel that the sample provided is not adequate, we reserve the right to ask for another.

Victory Road Sample: This sample must take place in Victory Road's setting and can be EITHER a written post OR another thread if you would prefer not to write a post. The minimum is 300 words for a prose sample, eight sentences for a network post/actionspam sample, or ten comments total (five from you) in an RP sample. What we are looking for here is how the character responds to the Pokéworld's setting. You can also use a Victory Road test drive thread for this sample, but you cannot use the same top-level for the first sample above.

From an early age Maria lived within a compound that housed orphans that would be the reincarnation of “Fine”, the only person she had at first was her little sister Serena. Maria took in Shirabe and Kirika who were also held in a compound for orphans that could serve as the reincarnation of “Fine” and quickly treated them as adopted little sisters alongside her own blood related sibling. She wanted to protect those who were weak like her by accepting them and providing the connection they truly needed. After seeing her sister die in order to save her life and the lives of those around her. Only to hear the people around her say it was a waste for such a valuable test subject to just die. Maria’s heart was conflicted over not only her ideals but what her sister truly wanted to do with her own power. Maria ended up taking on the role of “Fine” in order to lessen the burden of those she cared for. But doing so conflicted her heart and ideals about wanting to protect the weak from the strong and so forth.

Even with her ideals of protecting the weak; Maria didn’t want to have blood on her hands which meant she couldn’t mentally take the idea of killing or physically hurting another human. Nor wanted anyone else to have to dirty their hands with that action in order to reach an end goal. It’s not until she gets her sister’s repaired Symphogear that she accepts that her weakness and ideals are her real strength. That chasing the image of what “true” strength is only causes conflict and isn’t what Maria needs in battle.

Due to her nature of not being able to physically hurt others, Maria ends up being taken advantaged of often as she doesn’t want to fight or risk injury to those she cares about. Which causes her to have even more mental conflicts and question what truly the right thing to do is. As seen with Dr. Ver using her in order to destroy and kill more and more in order for him to see his goal go through in the name of “justice”. All Maria could do was sit back and follow orders and get punched in the face if she didn’t go along. She took it all on as a mission that must be completed, even if she was lacking the determination to complete it. This also comes into play with why she agreed to help with the plans FIS had even put forth, since she wanted to create a peaceful world off the ideals that her sister held.

Part of the reasoning for Maria decided to be a singer and idol was to help those with music, for people listening to be able to use it to better themselves and change the world. Along with the fact she has the most fun and freedom while singing. Though in her case, it was being able to use a Symphogear in order to fight and save the world. Because of this, she takes on the lie of being a double agent instead of the full blame for what happened due to her and FIS actions against mankind. Allowing those close to her maintain a normal life instead of being locked away. Which leaves her in a situation of being recorded all the time and not allowed out of sight from government guards unless it’s for her job of being an idol. Another lie Maria willingly accepts because she doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt, even if she rather take the full blame for her actions and what she caused due to her own conflict and lack of resolve.

In less non emotional damage areas, Maria is extremely mother-like. Even stating that she feels like she’s being overly invested in making sure everyone is eating correctly and getting enough sleep. Often taking food back from events that were catered since she wants to make sure Shirabe and Kirika are eating enough veggies because they’re still growing. Mainly due to the fact FIS didn’t have much money and Maria was the one making any sort of money due to being an idol. Plus having Shirabe and Kirika sleep next to her when it’s cold so they don’t get sick, and covering up Tsubasa after her gear was damaged causing her clothes to vanish. Because she didn’t want her running around naked in front of the public. Besides the motherly actions Maria ends up taking on, she also tends to talk big and then deeply regret it right after saying things. Her first meeting with Tsubasa ended up with her saying “try to keep up with me on stage” instead of just trying to introduce herself normally. Which caused her to have a mini depression scene in her dressing room since she wanted to do her introduction like a normal person. Overall Maria is just a kind and sincere and cute girl who simply wants to help and protect everyone she holds dear.
