Character
Name: Willow Amarina
Series: original character
Timeline: very shortly after saving her girlfriend’s life
Canon Resource Links: Although not an established canon, all of Willow's more in-depth information can be found in her journal here and it will be constantly updating as her world is continually built further upon, but enough basic information surrounding her history and world is there within the journal up to where I’ve pulled her from in her story.
Original Character Background:
World background is short in-app, but more in the journal is shown
- Their world (OCs):
Her world, at its very core is magic, and will die without magic. When one dies, they return to Rivaersa, which is the source of all life and magic and the core of the planet. The soul of it if you will. All creatures, human and non-human alike have a splinter of Rivaersa within them that is their breath of life, and the size of this splinter determines their capability to perform magic. Not all can perform magic, such as most humans or dwarven creatures who have the smallest shards of Rivaersa within them; however there are cases where theirs are large enough to perform said magicks.
Rivaersa itself isn’t explicitly medieval or futuristic as it does have some “tech” in the form of things powered by magic and by steam. Some cities are more advanced in their “magic tech” while some are more akin to traditional medieval settings. Villages and rural farming areas are what one would see in standard medieval fantasy settings, whereas larger cities have varying degrees of advancement. The Crystal Deserts are less magically adept and therefore less advanced, and rely upon using tamed beasts as their transports.
Rivaersa is similar to, but different enough from our world to call it different. Structurally it works similarly to our own via organic life as they breathe oxygen like that of Earth. Rivaersa’s core, however, is magic and lives off of magic energy from her inhabitants as she both feeds from them and grants them life. Animals, for the most part, resemble the animals of Earth with minor differences to them such as size and colouration, along with inherent magical traits like natural elemental alignments.
- Their history (OCs and customizable/silent protagonists):
Willow is born into nobility, but her bloodline is directly descended from the first Phoenix. However, her family act as advisors to the ruling family despite them being a distant branched family. The switching of these two family positions was done as a way to prevent any of them from becoming power hungry and to be kept in check if needed, although this was not done forcibly as both agreed this would be the best option; and the ruling family comes to Willow’s for council and leans on them for support.
Willow herself is a skilled huntress and adept at the use of her inherent magic of fire and holy elements, often hunting in the woods for a meal when she’s away from her homeland. She has a deep respect for nature and never takes more than she needs. As written within the personality section, Willow is a diplomat and as such has been through many a war and diplomatic conference to work out agreements or strategy to thwart those who will cause them harm. As for her key events, Willow has been in many conflicts, although she has mostly remained on the sidelines due to her youth compared to others of her kin.
One of her biggest events was prior to the beginning of her story where a war erupted between the surface dwellers and the subterranean elvish people, the latter of which started this fighting. Willow was sent off with many other youths when the chaos made its way to her homeland of Skadria, although she had pleaded to stay and fight only to be denied that wish. Instead, begrudgingly, she had fled to a mixed species village in a neighbouring country where she took up the temporary position as the Forest’s Guardian while the actual guardian had been injured and was healing. Willow’s view of the humans who coexisted with the other races had become less scrutinous, but still distrustful over them due to their inherently greedy nature, keeping a close eye on them.
The second of her biggest events was meeting who would ultimately end up as her romantic partner: one of the subterranean elvish people, although this woman was much different than the elves she had come to loathe. This woman, Lythrana, was not crimson eyed like the rest, and instead possessed striking sapphire eyes. A signifier that she wasn’t corrupted like the rest of her brethren below. This threw her off-guard and made Willow start to slowly change her negative views towards those elves, even causing a very unlikely alliance and eventual friendship to form. Over the time where Willow and Lythrana grew past their fears and distrust of one another, they learned that through their friendship that hope could be found to end the war, although it would be incredibly difficult to achieve since most of the world itself had a very deep hatred for Lythrana’s people; and for an understandable reason at that since they were wreaking havoc and shedding blood.
The third, and thus far the most drastic of experiences and key events of her life were when she and Lythrana went on a peaceful mission to discuss with Lythrana’s people about bringing about an end to all the warring, in which Lythrana was attacked and nearly killed. Willow, distraught and angered by this betrayal, set her sights on the assailant; which in a twisted turn of fate ended up being Lythrana’s sister who tried to kill her. Willow challenges the woman to a fight, but her lack of focus makes her think unclearly, however thanks to her regenerative capabilities, she comes out victorious in the end. It is solely because of her healing capabilities and her species that she survives, and the reason that Lythrana does not die. However that came at a cost, binding Lythrana’s soul to her own with a powerful, ancient magic known to Phoenixes and Dragons. An incredibly bright light envelops the two as their souls are joined, making Lythrana at that point an immortal being due to Phoenixes being a symbol of life and the sun.
(in the case of VR:
Once the spell is cast, and Lythrana restored in the blinding light, Willow is teleported into New Bark Town where she will awaken.)
Personality:
Willow is a very proud individual, priding herself as a Phoenix and deeply respecting and loving her culture and history. This is not to say she is conceited or thinks of herself as above others, in fact that is further from the truth as she will willingly help others who are allied with her people, although she does have trust issues towards certain species and appears to act as if she is above them in how her stiffness towards them can be. Namely that of humans and subterranean elvish peoples, who have caused the most pain and conflict to her people. These two races have caused her people the most suffering, the latter of which even more so than the former. Despite her mistrust towards these peoples, she’s not one who would always coldly refuse conversation or interaction to them, nor has she ever hated them; only guarded in trusting these individuals. A little moody and guarded she may be when it comes to some, but she’ll aid them if they prove to her they’re not a threat and are in genuine need for aid. She’s a messenger and a diplomat, and knows how to handle otherwise sensitive conversation and conflict in a mostly civil manner, despite her own irritation of the topic or individual at hand.
No matter the race, Willow will never harm a child as it wholly goes against her moral compass, even if the child may attempt to harm her. The same goes for any who carry another life within them (like pregnant individuals), for harming them would harm an innocent. To her, children (more so those under the age equivalent of ten for their species) are innocent and yet uncorrupted by the greed and cruelty of the world, and wishes to teach the youths that all life is precious and that they should learn to coexist with one another. Should this fail, her disappointment with them falls mostly upon their upbringing if their parents are just as ignorant and cruel. (in the case of VR, she will accept battles from young trainers after she’s learned that this is the norm for that world, and that they’re not cruel children.)
At the same time, Willow is highly curious and seeks out knowledge and answers for things she herself has not found an answer to, constantly seeking to educate herself to propel herself further in life and her studies. Especially so if this knowledge gives a way for her to aid her people and their allies’ lives or to nature itself, in the least destructive way possible. Once she has grown to trust or befriend others, her guarded exterior tends to drop little by little, showing that she is a very caring person despite her personal traumas and negative experiences in her life. This is something that tends to be sped up if one has a respect for flames and creatures of the sky such as herself, specifically if they’re fond of and treat avian species with care as she understands them and can hear their pain if they’re mistreated. (In the case of Victory Road, she’s more inclined to befriend others who have a deep and trusting bond with their pokemon, specifically that of their Bird Pokes and possibly their Fire Types; but will befriend and even talk with others who aren’t of those two things either.) She is also incredibly loyal to her companions so long as they do not do anything to betray her, however should they do something that is against her morals, she will not hesitate to speak up about it and question the actions and behaviours of said action or individual.
**In the case of VR, Willow’s mistrust of humans may or may not increase due to Team Rocket**
Pokémon Information
Affiliation: Trainer!
Starter: Fletchling, female named Nova
Password: Atomic Fireball
Extra: Willow possesses in her world the ability to speak with birds, and the list of these can be found here (these were cleared already to be understood via the FAQ). Willow will also be able to retain her slightly longer canines and pointed ears as they aren’t abnormally long and tip to a point 1cm further out than a human’s ear (nothing extreme such as a high elf’s ears. Think similar to the Lord of the Rings’ elf ears). Neither of these physical features are drastically different from what could and would pass as human.

Victory Road Sample:
[This certainly wasn’t the caverns and she definitely wasn’t covered in blood, and Willow absolutely is calming herself from the disoriented confusion in the current moment due to where she was just prior to this of seeing her girlfriend’s life come back in her arms and now she’s nowhere to be found. She has no clue where she was other than waking up in a room that clearly is not hers and a woman calling for her that clearly was not her mother. The woman calling down for her snaps her out of it as she reluctantly gets dressed and goes downstairs to listen to explanations, and receives her magic communication device called a “pokegear”, then she’s ushered to another place where a young man is waiting for her. At least there’s a bird there that she could get answers from.]
You must be my companion for this world, as the strange woman who calls herself mother says I need.
[She completely ignores the man as the bird, which called itself a Fletchling, chirps an affirmative response of yes. She’s reprimanded for not listening, but she rolls her eyes and listens to avoid a further lecture. She supposes that this human could give her some more answers as he seems to at least be a scholar of some sort. At least luck was on that man’s side since Willow is curious of the strange bird creature that has endeared her.
Pokemon, so they’re called, are the magical creatures of the realm that people befriend and even battle with? How curious that they’re all beastmasters in this world.
This is enough to pique her interest in the world she’s now in, although she would rather be back home in her world, even if it was rife with the chaos of war at the moment. Perhaps this world could teach her things, things that could aid her people in some way. No matter, she chooses the small bird that’s decided to claim her and perch upon her shoulder, much like her own falcon back home would do upon seeing her. Ah-- the perfect name comes to mind once she’s asked if she wants to name the Fletchling: Nova, after her own bird.]
Henceforth you shall be called Nova, fitting is it not? Ah, you’re a female, even more fitting as your namesake is female as well. May we have a wondrous journey together, and I hope you can teach me more of your kin and introduce me to them.
