Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Character: Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd | [personal profile] nastyboy
Badge/Gym Leader: Misty for the Cascade Badge
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Roster of Dean the Emboar, Gremlin the Rattata, Gabby the Miltank, Gwin the Altaria, Fraldariend the Galarian Rapidash, and Knocker the Raticate
Battle Details: Dimitri has seen other Elite matches before - Chip and Felix have eagerly leapt into it with proper preparation - but it's only recently that he's gotten enough Pokemon at high levels to make an Elite matching team himself!

That said, up against Quagsire, he actually goes with the lowest leveled Pokemon of his group, and one of the few who isn't level 100. There's reason for busting out Gwin the Altaria, and that's because Dimitri wastes no time in going Mega Evolution with him. The boost to his stats should help make up for his lower level!

And that's good, because Dimitri knows Gwin will need the extra speed to bust out Sing to start this battle. Quagsire's own Yawn could put them in the same position, after all, so best to head that move off before it can start, along with any status-changing abilities that Quagsire is full of! An Altaria may not have any moves that do particular damage to Quagsire's water and ground typing, but Gwin still has plenty more that will do a lot of damage... And while Sign is in affect, Dimitri will push forward with as much as he can get away with! Moonblast and Dragon Pulse will be the weapons of choice here, being Gwin's strongest attacks. Dimitri hopes that a strong start will push them through the start of this battle!

Hopefully with Sing and constant attacking, Gwin will make it through with little (ideally no) damage, because Dimitri is going to keep Gwin on the field against Lanturn! Mega Altaria's resistance against both Water and Electric type will come in handy here, although paralyze possibilities are still a problem.

And so... Of course, we'll start off with Sing again! While Lanturn is stuck in dreamland, Gwin will additionally buff himself up with Agility and Cotton Guard. That means hopefully it's fine if Lanturn wakes up a little early, because Gwin will be fully prepared to go at him hard and fast with Moonblast and Dragon Breath - the latter which means there's a chance that, even without Sing, Lanturn still may get stuck and unable to retaliate! Should things be going tough, Roost will help Gwin recover from it all.

Roost may help Gwin stay on top, however, but Dimitri won't force him to exhaust himself by also going up against Floatzel. Instead, for that particular opponent, he breaks out Gremlin the Rattata. Dimitri feels a bit confident with Gremlin out against a pure water type, because that's straightforward, and he likes that! They'll begin the match with a bit of Toxic, to lend a bit of kick to things, before showing off with some Swagger. This is partially Dimitri experimenting with some of Gremlin's least utilized moves... But it's fine! If things start to look dire, they'll bust out tried and true Thunder Wave, before cleaning up with Super Fang and Crunch.

Of course, out of all of Misty's Pokemon, Lapras is a power house - something Dimitri knows from experience. So he'll play a little dirty as he keeps Gremlin out just long enough for a quick Thunder Wave, followed by a cheeky U-Turn.

This is to give the next Pokemon in Dimitri's team a slight edge to make up for his massive disadvantage - Dean the Emboar. Lapras' menagerie of water moves can do him a world of hurt, but the Ice moves won't, and Dimitri's own Fighting moves should hopefully make up for a bit of damage retaliation!

So while Lapras is hopefully still stuck paralyzed, Dean is going to dive right in with a strong Rock Smash or two - something to weaken Lapras for the following Power Up Punch and Arm Thrust! Dimitri knows that they have to take advantage of Gremlin's Thunder Wave while it lasts, before Lapras can hit them with a Sheer Cold, Sing, or Hydro Pump! No fancy status inflicting or changing moves here. It's all about that punching, in hopes of finishing the match quick!

Fingers crossed that it goes well, because Dimitri wants to keep his next fighter ready in the wings for going up against Milotic. Much like with Floatzel, Dimitri is deferring to a rat on this match again - Knocker the Raticate! Milotic is clearly a fighter more than anything else, so Dimitri and Knocker decide to drag their opponent down immediately with a Super Fang. Knocker will make sure to get a Crunch in there too, in hopes of weakening Milotic's defenses for any moves that come after. There's always a chance that Milotic can put Knocker in a tight spot, of course, but in that case, she'll use Endeavor to drag her opponent down to her level, and then hopefully stop things from getting too bad with Quick Attack!

If all goes well, then that will leave only Starmie to defeat... And for that, Dimitri will pull out Gabby the Miltank! With no particular weaknesses to what Starmie is bringing, there's no worry for Dimitri and Gabby to start off with a Bulldoze to slow down Starmie's spinning speed and a Rock Smash to soften them up a little! That hopefully gives Gabby a good start up for going with her favorite combination and that of Miltanks everywhere.... Defense Curl followed up by Rollout! It's fingers crossed that this is enough for her to push through any Confusion-related nonsense.... And if things take a turn, hopefully Gabby will have enough breathing space to ring that Heal Bell and recover with a refreshing Milk Drink before she can Play Rough.

The best case scenario, of course, is that everyone can do their part just as planned, and no one falls before their chosen battles are over. But just in case... There's always Fraldariend the Galarian Rapidash. With his own Psychic arsenal that's good to go against the majority of Misty's team, like Psybeam and Psycho Cut, he can clean up where his compatriots have started. If he has to go up against Starmie, Megahorn will be especially brutal! Worst comes to worst, he's learned to be responsible enough to make a Healing Wish, and bring back whichever of the others could bring them to victory.

Win or lose, Dimitri thanks Misty for the opportunity to battle.... And then asks if she wouldn't mind - after his friends have finished their battles as well - maybe he could bring his own Lapras and Chinchou over to meet her Pokemon...? Karimala needs to meet more good Lapras friends, and Seonaidh might respond better to someone of his own kind.
