Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.
Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.
!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them. To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here. |
Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.
!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!
!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!
!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Badge/Gym Leader: Blaine, Volcano Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Chiara (Primarina, Lv85), Lelia (Flygon, Lv85), Teodoro (Slowpoke Lv85), Buttons (Skitty, Lv85), Eliseo (Midday Lycanroc, Lv85), Mirtillo (Swanna, Lv85)
Battle Details: Perhaps unsurprisingly as someone who favors Water-types, the battle against Blaine is Bucciarati's time to shine in particular.
And it's with a Water-type that Bucciarati will open the battle, sending out Chiara the Primarina. Chiara is promptly opening with Misty Terrain, blocking off any Yawn shenanigans, thank you very much. And other ailment shenanigans, for that matter! Misty Terrain will be refreshed whenever it wears off, but beyond that, Chiara will be using Bubble Beam and Water Pulse until Magcargo goes down. On the off chance that Magcargo does manage to get a Yawn out and Chiara falls asleep before she can refresh Misty Terrain, Bucciarati will switch her out in favor of Lelia the Flygon.
With Lelia, the strategy is very simple--start with a Sand Attack spam from hell to throw off the Magcargo's accuracy, and then use Earthquake and Earth Power. Ideally all without being nailed by Yawn.
If Lelia is put to sleep by Yawn, out comes Teodoro! ... Who will promptly be ordered to use Yawn himself. Once Magcargo is asleep, he'll be using Surf and Water Pulse, then reusing Yawn as needed.
Once the Magcargo's dealt with, if Chiara's still out and awake when Magmortar's sent out, then it's more or less more of the same. Misty Terrain to keep any status ailment shenanigans from happening, though Bucciarati will mix things up by having Chiara use Sparkling Aria and Hydro Pump in addition to the other moves.
If Bucciarati has Lelia out, then he'll be having her use an identical strategy as well--Sand Attack, Earthquake, Earth Power.
If either Chiara or Lelia get hit by Confuse Ray, out comes Teodoro once again! Thanks to the Slowpoke's Own Tempo, he'll be able to avoid the confusion status, Smokescreen is easily dealt with by way of Disable, Yawn can put the Magmortar to sleep (and Dream Eater can be used to keep Teodoro's health up!), and Rain Dance can put an end to Sunny Day. Surf and Water Pulse will be the main sources of damage here, and when Magmortar isn't asleep, Teodoro can use Slack Off to keep his health up as well.
One way or another, the Magmortar ideally goes down, and once Rapidash comes out to play, so does Buttons the Skitty, using Fake Out immediately upon being sent out. Afterwards, the Buttons will be using Thunder Wave to cripple the Rapidash's speed (and maybe prevent the Rapidash from moving), and then her primary source of damage will be Dig, despite not getting STAB from the move. And if Buttons happens to sustain a burn? Time for Facade. And if Rapidash is male and has moves that make contact? The Skitty has Cute Charm, so that's potentially one more method of locking the Rapidash down. If Buttons starts getting low on health, Bucciarati will withdraw her before she goes down.
Where things go from there depends on what Pokémon he still has. Eliseo will be his immediate pick, the Rock type immediately kicking up a Sandstorm upon being sent out. From there, Eliseo will be using Sand Attack and Double Team to make sure the Rapidash absolutely cannot hit him and raising his own attack with Howl. Between Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Accelerock, Rock Tomb, and Rock Throw, that's a lot of super-effective STAB damage! Eliseo will also refresh Sandstorm as needed, and if the Rapidash hasn't gone down by the time all the Rock-type moves are out of PP, Eliseo also still has Drill Run.
If Eliseo somehow goes down, Bucciarati will send out Mirtillo, who will open with Rain Dance. Mirtillo will use Aqua Ring after that, then Water Gun, Water Pulse, Bubble Beam, and Scald.
Lelia will be sent out if Mirtillo has gone down--using Sandstorm upon being sent out. Laser Focus will be used to ensure critical hits with Bulldoze, and if all else fails, the Flygon can fall back on good ol' Dig.
Character: Bruno Bucciarati |
Badge/Gym Leader: Blue, Earth Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Ciarduna (Talonflame, Lv85), Pizzelle (Banette, Lv85), Teodoro (Slowpoke, Lv85), Buttons (Skitty, Lv85), Corrado (Luxray, Lv85), Eliseo (Midday Lycanroc, Lv85)
Battle Details: FINAL KANTO BADGE, LET'S GO. The fact that Blue has no specific type specialization means Bucciarati can't have a million contingencies, but maybe that's for the better. Right out of the gate, it's Ciarduna the Talonflame out to go up against the Exeggutor, kicking up a Tailwind first thing. Afterwards, Bucciarati will prioritize using Swords Dance to up Ciarduna's attack. Then, rather than wasting time with Agility for speed boosts, Ciarduna will be making considerable use of Flame Charge for speed boosting and super-effective STAB damage! It's far from the only super-effective damage the Talonflame can deal out, too, with Aerial Ace and Acrobatics at her disposal. With Roost to restore HP as needed and potential burns from Flame Body if any of Exeggutor's moves make contact, Bucciarati is fairly confident Ciarduna's the only Pokémon he needs here. But of course, Bucciarati didn't get to where he is at this point by putting all of his eggs in one basket.
If things start looking shaky for Ciarduna, she's being promptly swapped out by way of U-turn in favor of Pizzelle the Banette. If the Exeggutor is already burned, fantastic, Pizzelle's leaping right into using Hex. If not, Pizzelle's going to be using Thunder Wave instead to paralyze, before using Hex. If that runs out of PP and Exeggutor's still up? The Banette still has plenty of other moves like Shadow Ball, Phantom Force, and Shadow Sneak.
Regardless of which one's out when Exeggutor goes down, either Ciarduna or Pizzelle is staying right there when Machamp comes out. With Ciarduna, it's an easy shift to focus on Flying-type moves. Bucciarati will even have her pull out Growl to lower the Machamp's attack! If Ciarduna's HP starts getting low and she can't rely on Roost anymore to restore it, Bucciarati switches tactics, ordering her to use Flail. If she goes down despite all this, Bucciarati will send out Pizzelle.
If Pizzelle was already out or if Bucciarati had to swap her in, the first thing she's doing is using Double Team. No, it's not likely the Machamp will be able to hit her to begin with, but Bucciarati's taking no chances. From there, it's a matter of using a lot of Psychic and Dazzling Gleam--no, neither of these moves will have STAB when used by a Banette, but that doesn't make them any less super-effective.
Hopefully that's it for the Machamp, but Bucciarati does have one last backup plan there, and that's Teodoro. If Teodoro's sent out, he'll be leading with Yawn. Once the Machamp is asleep, he'll then set up a Psychic Terrain. Zen Headbutt, Psychic, Confusion, and Dream Eater should be sufficient to deal with the Fighting-type.
And frankly, even if Bucciarati doesn't need to send out Teodoro against the Machamp, he'll be the next one out anyway in order to deal with the Rhydon--and honestly, is the only good option for it. The Yawn part of the previous strategy remains the same--put that Rhydon to sleep!--but rather than setting up a Psychic Terrain, Teodoro will opt to use Rain Dance to power up his Water-type moves--and it's a good thing he does, with Surf, Water Pulse, and Water Gun. Bucciarati will be having Teodoro use Yawn again immediately when the Rhydon wakes up--he's very invested in keeping the big guy asleep, but if the Rhydon manages to use Megahorn, that's being promptly met with a Disable. No more of that, thank you very much! Dream Eater will be used to keep Teodoro's HP up when the Rhydon's asleep, and Slack Off will be used otherwise. If absolutely necessary, Teodoro will also pull out Mud Shot and Bulldoze.
Though just because Teodoro's Bucciarati's only good option against the Rhydon, it's not his only option. Should it be necessary, Buttons will make her appearance, entering with Fake Out and following up with Sing and Charm. Payback is practically required if the Rhydon manages to land a hit, otherwise she'll be making use of Dig and Grass Knot. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Dream Eater will keep her HP up if Sing manages to land.
When it's time for Blue to bring out the Gyarados, whichever Pokémon Bucciarati has out is being swapped out for Corrado the Luxray. Regardless what might happen first, Corrado is promptly using Toxic. Cheap, maybe, but Bucciarati feels better having that insurance that the Gyarados will go down. Double Team is next to make sure the Gyarados won't land a hit. From there, it's simply a matter of alternating Charge and Discharge. Or Shock Wave. Or Thunderbolt. Thunder on the off-chance Blue had the Gyarados use Rain Dance, though that's unlikely. Protect will help Corrado deal with any attacks that might manage to land.
If Corrado goes down, though, Buttons will make her appearance here as well, opening with Fake Out as usual. If the poisoning from Toxic has been cured, she'll use Thunder Wave, otherwise she'll leap right to Charm. Once the Gyarados's attack has been sufficiently lowered, she'll mostly be relying on Play Rough and Zen Headbutt, with Payback thrown in as needed.
Assuming Corrado's still up by the time Pidgeot comes out, he's sticking around. The Pidgeot will immediately be met with Thunder Wave. Any Sand Attack spamming will be met with Shock Wave. And Swift, if it becomes necessary.
If Corrado goes down, either by Gyarados or by Pidgeot and the Pidgeot's still out, it'll be Eliseo's turn next, and he'll immediately be using Sandstorm, to be refreshed as needed. After a Stealth Rock and a few uses of Double Team, he'll be ready to hop right to an offense with various Rock-type moves. Accelerock might be a favorite in particular. If need be, though, Eliseo also has Thunder Fang and will be making use of Sucker Punch.
Regardless of whether Corrado finishes off the Pidgeot or Eliseo does, it's Eliseo who will be facing the Arcanine. In the case of Intimidate, Eliseo will patch up his own attack by way of Howl, otherwise jumping right to Sand Attack and refreshing Sandstorm if necessary. He'll be making use of every Rock-type move in his arsenal as well as Drill Run.
If Eliseo goes down, Teodoro will be brought back out to clean things up, starting off with Yawn and overwriting the Sandstorm with Rain Dance if necessary. Crunch will be Disabled, Dream Eater and Slack Off will keep HP up, and otherwise, it's going to be a lot of Water moves and Mud Shot or Bulldoze if those become necessary!
And hopefully, that'll be what Bucciarati needs to walk away with the Earth Badge.
