Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.
Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.
!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers. We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them. To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here. |
Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.
!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!
!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!
!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Badge/Gym Leader: Janine / Soul
Elite/Regular: ELITE TEAM
Team: LINK Thace’s team, Lv 100: Trax (Diggersby), Zaivar (Klefki), Brodar (Noivern), Korvulk (Sharpedo), Ankuyr (Falinks), Lahn (Persian)
Battle Details:
Thace is stocked up on so many antidotes. So many! He’s also gathered as many Pecha berries as he could too. He’s brought these along with the standard healing items and Leppa berries he keeps in stock. He comes in with his team around him like a well-drilled military unit as usual, but this time he’s missing the sling and his ever-present Aegislash. It’s actually kind of obvious that he’s keenly aware of and not comfortable with her absence, but she was a really poor match-up with Janine’s team.
Held Items: Zaivar: twisted spoon, everybody else: Pecha berry
Zaivar:
—Vs. Crobat: Zaivar sets Crafty Shield first thing, and then Metal Sound and lots of Psychic. Resets Crafty Shield whenever necessary and after switching out for healing.
—Vs. Venomoth: Crafty Shield first! Metal Sound x2 then Psychic until moth goes down or a healing switch is necessary. Resets Crafty Shield whenever necessary and after switching out for healing.
Korvulk:
—Vs. Weezing: Taunt is first, and is kept up at all costs. Then Korvulk will Screech three times before unleashing his brand new Zen Headbutt. If healing is necessary, a quick switch out before going right back to it.
Brodar:
—Vs Toxicroak: Taunt, Screech, screech, Screech to set up. Then Taunt, Fly, Dual Wingbeat on repeat, with breaks for healing as necessary.
—Vs Drapion: Brodar is acting as setup for Drapion only, to have Taunt setup for Ankuyr. Getting out super fast due to Drapion’s super effective attacks
—as backup (Crobat, Venomoth): Taunt, Supersonic, Doubleteam and then Wild Charge or Flamethrower respectively.
Ankuyr:
—Vs Drapion: Starting off with First Impression. Next, Bulk Up, Focus Energy, Close Combat. Switch, repeat.
—as backup: (Vs: Weezing, Toxicroak, Arbok) should the other battlers need a helping hand, similar strategy, except replace Close Combat with Zen Headbutt
Lahn:
—As Healstall/backup against Drapion: going in to keep Taunt set-up for Ankuyr. Might throw in Mud-slaps and Dig if Taunt isn’t set to wear off yet. If going in to finish: setup with Screech and Doubleteam before moving onto the Super effective Ground Moves.
—Vs Arbok: Taunt first, then Double Team. Then a few Mud-Slaps. Probably will need to switch out for healing, but then going right back in and finishing things with another Double Team and Dig!
Trax:
—healstall! (except vs. Drapion) He comes in with Smack Down for the flyers/levitators, and then Earthquake! Maybe two if his HP is good. He’ll get healed whenever he comes back out.
Badge/Gym Leader: Blaine / Volcano
Elite/Regular: ELITE TEAM
Team: LINK Trax (Diggersby), Athvrix (Meostic), Korvulk (Sharpedo), Ankuyr (Falinks), Lahn (Persian), Erzah (Haunter)
Battle Details:
Thace walks in with one ball, because of course, Korvulk doesn’t want to be out of his ball until the fight starts. The rest of his team does the usual military formation around him, and of course he’s stocked up on plenty of healing items of all kinds, especially Rawst and Pecha berries. As with Janine’s team, he’s super uncomfortable not to have Vrig with him but bringing a Steel-type to a fire gym is… not wise.
Held items: Rawst Berries for most. with Lum for Erzah
Setup: Erzah
—Vs Houndoom: Hypnosis, Toxic, Venoshock if Houndoom is still asleep. Otherwise, switch
—Vs the rest: Toxic, Venoshock, Taunt (skip Venoshock if lowish on HP after Toxic). Switch
—healed up in between each
Primary Battler: Korvulk
—Vs Torkoal, Camerupt, Magcargo: Refresh Taunt as necessary. Screech, and spam Surf
—Vs Rapidash: Refresh Taunt as necessary. Agility, Agility, and spam Surf.
—switch whenever a new battler comes in or low on HP. get healed regardless of switch reason
Secondary Battler: Trax
—Vs Houndoom: Mud-slap, Swords dance, laser focus, Earthquake. Repeat as necessary. Switch if needing healing. (switch to Surf if out of PP for Earthquake)
Tertiary battler: Ankuyr
—Vs. Magmortar: Bulk up, Focus Energy, Rock Tomb. Repeat as necessary. Switch if needing healing
Healstall/Primary Backup: Lahn
—As healstall: refresh Taunt as necessary and/or throw in a Power Gem if HP is good. (switch immediately out if against Magmortar)
—as backup: refresh Taunt as necessary. Nasty Plot and Power Gem, with some Dig here and there
Secondary Backup: Athvrix
—All: set up Reflect and/or Light Screen
—use Roleplay to copy: Torkoal’s White Smoke, Magcargo+Magmortar’s Flame Body
—Dig, Dig Dig!

Mod Note: Laying out your badge challenges in order of Thace's Pokemon and not the battle itself (while we suspect it's well-intended and meant for clarity) makes it significantly more confusing for us in judging your challenges. If we could ask a favour of you as a player to write up future challenges in order of the Gym Leader's Pokemon so that we get a clearer/quicker overview of things per-matchup, it would help us out tremendously!
