Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.
Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.
!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them. To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here. |
Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.
!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!
!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!
!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Badge/Gym Leader: gonna bin Jasmine!
Elite/Regular: oh jeez, just regular PLEASE
Team: Charlotte (Galvantula 57), El Diablo Verde (Hawlucha 51), Fail Whale (Wailord 64) + Erik (Litwick 36) and Conchita (Mudbray 34) as the special reserve team
Battle Details: For once, it's not Steven's Rocket team that's making the battle more difficult than it should be. It's that he didn't have any damn fire pokemon at all until Prom Weekend and even now, his highest is level fucking 36. So much like with Erika in Celadon, he's going to have to get creative.
So! One thing we should make clear is that even though he's on the 'special reserve' due to his low levels Erik will actually be the first Pokemon that Steven puts in, for just long enough to Fire Spin for a longer lasting inferno around the rival pokemon and maybe fire off a burst from Flamethrower before Steven yanks him back out and sends in the actual planned pokemon he's sending against the particular pokemon. As long as he survives the his Fire-Spinning and Flamethrowing, Erik also goes in at the introduction of a the second and third pokemon too and is pulled back just as quick.
Anyway! Once Erik's out, Skarmory sees Steven sending in Charlotte! Electroweb to hold it or at least slow it, Thunder Wave to try to paralyze it, then Electro Ball and Discharge for damage. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Magneton has two Pokemon that Steven is going to quickly rotate in and out with each other so he can heal one while the other fights on,concentrating on that particular strategy mostly since they're both lower level than their target: Conchita and El Diablo. Conchita, especially, is underleveled, but Ground happens to be a particuar weakness of Magneton. Which means repeated use of Bulldoze and High Horsepowed. El Diablo, meanwhile, is punching with Rock Smash and Strength, while also kicking with Low Sweep. Occasionally he Roosts to get some health back. Hopefully the two of them, with Erik jumping in if need be, can handle Magneton.
Then it's Steelix. And Steelix, thank fuck, is vulnerable to water. Which means that Steven can now pull out his bestest boy Fail Whale. Joining the field with a Noble Roar, Fail Whale unleashes the power of his Water Spout at Steelix, before trapping him in a Whirlpool. Hydro Pump smacks even more water in his face, before Fail Whale Surfs right over him. Lather, rinse, and repeat until Steelix goes down.
Anddddd hopefully that should get him through!
Character: Steven Durante |
Badge/Gym Leader: let's slice Pryce!
Elite/Regular: regular my dudes. just regular
Team: Fangorn (Phantump 67), Charlotte (Galvantula 57), and Fail Whale, (Wailord 64)
Battle Details: Oh hey, it's a (relatively) simpler gym after Olivine. I say relatively, because there's still one or two complications involved, but compared to Janine or Morty? Easy-peasy.
Funny we should mention Morty, though, because one prominent member of the team that Steven's brought to the fight has one thing in common with the team he brought to Ecruteak: through a combination of typing Fangorn and Pryce's entire roster are mutually weak to each other. Luckily, this doesn't go for Fail Whale or Charlotte, so there's definitely going to be a fair amount of rotating of Pokemon in and out for these matches, despite the fact that Fangorn is going to Ingrain himself in right away for that sweet, sweet constant HP renewal. That's the fun part about being a Ghost/Grass combo--being Ghost means you can switch in and out while Ingrained. And Fangorn will want to, because his Natural Cure lets him heal status conditions when he does.
ANYWAY. Once Fangorn is good and Ingrained, he'll then seed his opponents so he can start Leech Seeding away a little bit more HP every turn. He'll then alternate Wood Hammer and Horn Leech to hit his opponents hard and then steal more HP from them to heal from the damage he took hammering away. Hopefully with the constant heals from Ingraining and Seeding he should be able to keep this up for a few rounds before needing a break, but when he does... in goes either Charlotte or Fail Whale, depending on which member of Pryce's team is out.
Charlotte is the alternate against Dewgong and Lapras, since they're both vulnerable to Electric, even if she's got a very slight 3-5 level disadvantage against them. As usual when she's being brought in for her galvanic properties, she'll Electroweb the area to catch/slow her opponent, Thunder Wave to attempt paralysis, then Electro Ball and Discharge for damage. If this sounds exactly like what she did in Olivine, well, you're not wrong.
Meanwhile, Fail Whale is the alternate for dealing with Mamoswine! They're very nearly the same level, with Mamoswine having the most miniscule of advantage there. Immediately Water-Spouting to hit Mamoswine before he himself takes much or any damage, Fail Whale Noble Roars and locks Mamoswine into a Whirl Pool. Hydro Pump and Surf for large chunks of damage and Brine to hopefully finish him off once his HP is low.
Hopefully that should do it. Steven's reusing a few old strategies here with Fangorn, but they were effective the first time with Misty, so why the heck not?

Mineral Badge DECLINED.
However....
While Dewgong's Ice Shard does foil Steven's plan to beat it to the punch, its weakness to electricity SEALS the deal, and Steven walks away with the Glacier Badge.... barely.
Glacier Badge Approved.
