APPLICATIONS

APPLICATIONS!
Currently: Open!
Applications are checked roughly weekly unless otherwise stated.

  • We ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!

  • The comment character limit on Dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.

  • While players are welcome to play multiple characters (five characters maximum are allowed per player!), please only apply for one character at a time, and wait for a decision before submitting another application!

  • A reminder for those waiting to hear back: Please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!

  • Please use the form below to apply! If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of the mods.

    Name: Flayn
    Series: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Timeline: End of Silver Snow route
Canon Resource Links: Contains spoilers for the game but is also the best resource, + details on Silver Snow Route

Personality: Flayn is a calm, kind, and outgoing young lady. Having lived in isolation for a considerably long period of time, she is eager and excited to make friends and learn more about the world around her. Her naivete is at once charming and a little ridiculous; she is ignorant about many social trends and can come off as a bit eccentric (though completely harmless) when interacting with her peers. For example, when coming across Felix training with his sword, she brings him firewood and fruit to chop up with the blade, insisting that such activities are much more worthwhile than cutting up one's enemies. When the scent of oil leads her to Ferdinand maintaining various weapons and equipment, she is quick to comment on how delicious the oil smells, and how it would make her hungry all the time should her armor smell like that in battle - and then she runs off to "get [her] fill of fried goodies". Flayn is also incredibly fond of fish, fishing, and the sea; the coast holds precious memories of peaceful times with her family, and fish is her favorite food in no small part to her late mother's influence. She can show quite a lot of maturity and philosophic thinking at times, though this often leads to being sidetracked into deep and loving conversation regarding the sea and all the fish within it. One cannot help but be endeared by her bright and optimistic perspective, and her odd ways of thinking.

In truth, while Flayn looks quite young (much younger than the late teens she insists to be), she is at least over one thousand years old and, in truth, an ancient saint from Fodlan's past, Saint Cethlean. One of the last remaining "Children of the Goddess", she is a quintessential Fire Emblem Divine Dragon, a person who can shapeshift into a dragon form. Unfortunately, Flayn no longer has this ability in canon, and thus lives as a human with her father (who lives undercover as her brother) Seteth. Seteth is incredibly overprotective of Flayn, going so far as to intimidate young men who so much as look at her. This causes her incredible frustration; having been isolated for so long, Flayn's dearest wish is to live amongst people and get to know them, and thus she butts heads with Seteth often over his methods of protection. Still, she understands he is coming from a place of love and concern, and can reconcile with him easily given time.

Because of Flayn's naivete, she is easily tricked. A key point of this in canon is her kidnapping, where she is presumably lured away by an early antagonist, the Death Knight, in order for the organization he is working under to take Flayn's blood to use for experiments. While she still considers there to be an ultimately positive outcome from this (being allowed to join the main character's class as a student), and her positivity shows how well she can move on from past troubles, it stands to reason that she is too trusting for her own good.

When it comes to hiding her true identity as a saint of old, Flayn is...very, very bad. When asked questions regarding her age, her family, and her likeness to the saint in temperment and appearance, she pointedly avoids answering questions directly and always tries, in a very deliberate tone, to flip it around on the person asking the questions. It only raises more suspicion for the curious and clever. Flayn also, in the company of the main character, lets slip odd tidbits of insight that suggest her true age and identity often. For example, when reminiscing on her childhood, the main character can ask how long ago that was, only for Flayn to reply, "Oh, very. Very, very, very long ago." She also can, later on in the story, imply through optional dialogue that Seteth is not her brother through a story of how her parents met; obviously, by this time a player would have already learned that information, so she is not revealing anything new, but it is still a pointed clue as to her true identity. She can also have her own lost items returned to her, which are often noted as antiquated and old, such as a long outdated map of a city or a very dusty book of fables. Overall, it can be surmised that Flayn makes a point not to lie directly, if only because her attempts at deflection are comically poor at best.

In the first half of the game in all routes, Flayn is primarily motivated by her desire to make friends and be part of a living, thriving community. She is kind to all and loves to learn new things. In the second half of the game a la the Silver Snow route, this hasn't changed much, but she now desires to see the current war through to the end, and help to usher in an era of peace. She also wishes to assist the main character in any way she can, due to the good deeds they have done for her and their own personal backstory coming to light. This is much the same in the other routes, but with the added backdrop of being soley allied with the main religion of the country of Fodlan, the Church of Seiros, and not with any of the leaders of the warring nations.

Victory Road Sample: Flayn was, for lack of a better phrase, completely and utterly befuddled.

There was so much about this new world she'd woken up in that felt so incredibly foreign. The technology, for one, seemed beyond mere magic - to have the ability to keep beasts in capsules, or in a space beyond what she could fathom in a "PC Box"? To send missives available for anyone to see, by text or by the moving, audible pictures, with such ease that it was commonplace? And to say nothing of how food could be preserved would be a criminal offense, to be sure. Still, with such wonders came acclimation, and to say Flayn had grown used to any of this to even the smallest degree would be a lie.

Thankfully, she had reached Cherrygrove City without much trouble. Macha sought to that - the tiny green Chikorita she had been presented with upon arriving was a balm, a relief, a fast friend. She trotted circles around Flayn as they made their way further into the city, and Flayn watched her fondly.

"It is not too cold for you?" She asked, wrapped up herself against the late autumn chill. Macha shook her head, the vibrant leaf that grew from it swaying with the movement. Pokemon were...strange, of course, but clearly the plantlike ones could handle more chill and frost than the grass and trees. "Well, please tell me if you are. We can have some tea, and - oh!"

The steely glint of water had caught Flayn's eye, and she stopped immediately to take it in. Just down the road, at the edge of town, sat a lake with a pebbly beach. Waves lapped at the land languidly, and she could just spot a figure casting their line, waiting...but not for long. Soon a creature burst from the water, the figure letting out a triumphant laugh.

"We...we can fish here?" She asked aloud. Eyes turned to Macha, who seemed just as curious as Flayn was thrilled. "No one told me such a thing was possible in this world! Why, I have been missing out!" With one fluid motion, she bent down to pick up Macha, holding her with a gentle firmness. "Perhaps we ought to have that break for tea, and then...we shall find ourselves a fishing rod!"

She...DOES know that you can't eat the fish caught in this world...right?
