We ask that potential applicants post their application in comments rather than linking. If their application contains explicit references to 'hard' spoilers (character death, unforeseen plot twists, big reveals, he was evil all along etc), players should put the application in their own journal or their character's journal and link it, making sure to mention the presence of spoilers within. For further clarification on our spoilers policy and whether or not your application needs to be linked, please check this page. Thank you for your cooperation!
The comment character limit on Dreamwidth is 16,000 characters so apps no longer need to be split into multiple comments; however this is at players' discretion.
While players are welcome to play multiple characters (five characters maximum are allowed per player!), please only apply for one character at a time, and wait for a decision before submitting another application!
A reminder for those waiting to hear back: Please don't be worried if we skip yours while going through them. It only means we needed a little more time to research!
Please use the form below to apply! If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of the mods.

Character Name: Vaughn Series: Borderlands Timeline: Post-Tales season 1 Canon Resource Links:Wikipedia: Tales From the Borderlands season 1 plot summary. As Vaughn can fall to the side at times, here's a quick rundown of his role in the game:
When his coworker at the Hyperion Corporation and oldest friend, Rhys, is demoted, Vaughn helps him execute a plot to spite the supervisor responsible and put them back on their way to the top of the corporate ladder. This plan leads them off of the Helios space station and onto the planet Pandora to buy a $10 million Vault key, which is revealed to be a fake orchestrated by the con artist sisters Fiona and Sasha. When the boys' money is stolen, the sisters at first try to get rid of them, but the four soon team up to recover the cash. The hunt ends when the money is destroyed, but leads them to the path towards a real Vault and the greater riches contained within.
On this search, Vaughn appears almost always riding backseat to everyone else's leads. Anxious and constantly fearing for his life, he feels terribly out of place and often left behind. His relationship to Rhys causes him to be frequently taken hostage and used as leverage when the group is faced with adversaries, and he is verbally mistreated by nearly everyone they come across, effectively making him feel like nothing more than a punching bag sidekick.
Shortly after he expresses concern over these situations and his feelings of worthlessness to Rhys, Vaughn becomes abruptly and forcibly separated from the group. He is left on the planet while Rhys and the sisters are sent to Helios to recover the last item required to open the Vault, and watches [in horror as the space station is eventually sent plummeting into the planetside]. He soon searches [the wreckage] for his friends, but finding no evidence of any of them except [Rhys' severed cybernetic arm], he has no choice but to believe [that they are all dead].
While he is at [the crash site], Vaughn discovers many survivors in his ex-coworkers. The Hyperion employees have had no experience with the unforgiving nature of Pandora, and Vaughn finds a purpose in helping them organize and survive on the wild planet. Taking refuge around [the station's wreckage], the group is dubbed the Children of Helios, and Vaughn leads them under the guise of a fearsome bandit clan. In this time, he truly comes into his own and sheds many of the insecure feelings that he'd endured in his life up until then.
A great deal of time passes before he discovers that Fiona, Sasha, and Rhys [are still alive], and helps them to finally [open the Vault], into which Rhys and Fiona [disappear entirely].
Personality: At first glance, Vaughn appears pretty single-faceted. Anxious. Meek. Pushover. And maybe he is -- at least, that’s been a defining aspect of him at times in his life. Once, he hid behind his friends at the first sign of confrontation; not self-serving in trying to place his safety above theirs, but always afraid, and that fear tended to override everything else. Behind people’s backs, in safe spaces, however, a more spiteful, judgmental persona would surface. Anyone who hurt him or his friends was fair game for underhanded comments and often fruitless plans to get back at them.
This, of course, manifested as a more amusing, snarky side to his friends, and he never would pass up an opportunity for a witty rejoinder. His care ran deep for those who earned it, and he would always be willing to help out a friend in need, even if it meant simply standing beside them in danger. However, if he was trapped in a sticky situation with those he cared for and they seemed at a loss, then he would step up and produce a facade of confidence. A quick mind provided him with the intelligence needed to escape conflict, and his desire to help his friends ensured that he had the bravery to act.
His own self-worth suffered greatly in comparison to his commitment to others. On countless occasions, he felt forgotten, questioned his worth to his loved ones and always worried that he would be abandoned in favor of more extroverted people and more exciting situations. Still, his dedication to them never flagged, even when his friends intentionally left him behind or insulted him, the extent of his undying loyalty a fault.
When he was forced independent of those he would use as a crutch, however, his growth in character was remarkable. Knowledge he possessed that others did not was the first key for him to realize that he truly did have something to offer as a person. He voluntarily took on a position of leadership and flourished in it, aiding hundreds if not thousands of helpless people to survive in a hellish environment.
His newfound confidence allowed him to loosen up a fair amount, and his penchant for passive aggression wavered in favor of a more straightforward attitude sensitive to others’ well-being. He still never failed to make quick-witted banter, but it was more in good nature than before. His responsibilities let his unhealthy loyalty flourish into a positive desire to look after and care for those who needed it, perhaps his own past insecurities a motivation to help others.
He may still come off as nervous at times, but it stems more from a conscious effort to protect the integrity of everyone involved in a conflict than to save his own hide. And he certainly requires much less effort to just relax and smile more often, and face challenges with courage as they arise.
Pokémon Information Affiliation: Breeder Starter: Riolu, if possible. Vaughn's starter could be nothing but a fighting type. Riolu is an excellent choice as a baby pokemon. Much like Vaughn himself, its size and appearance at first glance lends it no intimidating presence. But also like Vaughn, when it trains hard and understands it is cared for, it can display truly incredible strength and willpower in spite of appearances, and its loyalty is unquestionable. Victory Road Sample: [[Audio/Video]] Jeez, how does this... This is definitely not ECHO tech. Is this even --
[The previously black screen flickers to life on the face of one very confused looking homeless man. At least, his scraggly beard and shredded clothes give that impression.]
Oh, okay.
So... Hopefully this is transmitting. If not, well... Hi, nobody!
[He sighs through a sardonic smile and runs a hand down his face.]
Yeah, so, couple things: I think somebody got me confused with someone else. I have somebody's stuff, and there's... a... two-legged blue dog following me. I mean, it's friendlier and a lot less ugly than a skag, but... Please, whoever you are, come get your backpack and your weird dog. I'm sure it misses you.
And while you're at it, maybe tell me where exactly "Johto" is relative to the Eridium Blight so I can get home.
