    Name: Edward Elric
    Series: Fullmetal Alchemsit '03
    Timeline: Conqueror of Shamballa
Canon Resource Links: I have a bias against fandom wikias .... oops

    Personality:

Ed is not a social person, often needing his brother to buffer his interactions with others, and keeping mostly to himself once in Germany. It's little wonder his only friend seems to be Alfons, who he was likely only drawn to due to the resemblance to his own Al back home.

Despite being generally trusting and naive at times Ed is also a realist, cynical and prideful. All of which is shown throughout his developing relationship with Rose. When they first meet, he's quick to put up his cynical front in the face of her devotion to God, but just as quick to disbelieve the horrors faced in Liore later on when he learned what the military was up to after he left, demonstrating his naive side. As much as his determination and stubbornness can be related to the trials he goes through during his childhood, there is also evidence to support it being an inherent part of Ed's personality.

He comes off as sarcastic or bitter around strangers, and acts with a total disregard to authority. Despite the maturity that Edward develops at a young age he's occasionally capable of jumping to the defensive, snapping at anyone in a childish outburst - even those close to him - for the smallest (or imagined) slight. Edward can easily be thrown for a loop or taken advantage of with a good amount of damage to his pride. It doesn't take much to rile him up if the right buttons are pushed, which is something an enemy could easily use to distract him and gain the upper hand - as long as they didn't get too cocky and let their guard down. Both of these situations (Ed's ability to be distracted, and Ed's ability to focus despite his enemy's tactics can be seen in his last battle with Envy. As he remains focused despite Envy's attempts to distract and taunt him, where he wouldn't have in the past - however, the shock of the homunculus' reveal was more than he was capable of ignoring.)

These situations are quite temporary, usually a moment of yelling before he's back to working out the best way out of his current situation - and even sometimes just enough time to give him a new perspective on whatever that situation may be. The outbursts have seriously decreased in number and intensity over the years, especially while in Germany as he's had several years to grow, mature (and be depressed mellow out) which has toned his personality down a bit. Instead, retorting with smart quips where screaming may have been more likely in the past, but lack of respect for authority figures/his elders still apparently remains a theme in his life in Germany, as pointed out by Hughes.

However, none of that stops him from being a caring individual, both sensitive to other's feelings and even sweet to those he develops any level of concern about, given the right circumstances. All of that is only the way he comes off to strangers and those who don't know him well - just scratching the surface of what makes up Edward Elric. Not only does he view what he's done as helping the people of Liore, but he steps in again to help once he realizes what actually happened there. In a similar vein, taking Noah in despite knowing nothing about her - simply because she had nowhere else to go -
perfectly sums up Ed's naive ability to care about others, who may even be a danger to him.

Ed is known in canon to be a genius - he's perceptive and tactical, a skilled martial artist, and practiced in hand-to-hand combat. Ed is a quick thinker, a problem solver, and calculating even under pressure. He's also able to pick locks and a naturally skilled talent at alchemy - able to translate even the most thoroughly coded alchemy texts in a considerably short time. He thinks on his feet under pressure (most of the time) and more often than not he does it outside the box. Ed is stubborn and refuses to give up, even when hope seems lost. Although Ed shows a keen eye for details others miss, he's usually the first to smell a rat - as demonstrated in canon during the situation with Tucker at only 12-years-old - he takes most people at face value, trusting his enemy's words as absolute truth.

Even when he accuses them of lying, it comes off as more of denial/refusal to believe what he doesn't want to, rather than that he actually suspects dishonesty. He's prone to denial and ignoring what's right in front of him, conflicting with his perceptiveness is his ability to refuse to admit to things, even when he does see them. Although he recognizes Sloth as appearing like Trisha the first time he sees her, he dismisses it - even telling Al that he's imagining things when the younger brother recognizes her voice after the incident with Scar, when she arrives to take Doctor Marcoh. Although Ed does eventually acknowledge what she is, his attitude toward her - and homunculi in general - remains questionable throughout the series as he continues to let his own feelings get in the way of facts he's faced with.

He's dedicated, determined and loyal to a fault. He makes fast friends off the bat, even sometimes with his 'enemies' (The Tringhams, for example) showing that he's more than capable of adapting to change as well. Edward also happens to be an optimist - even when he gives up, the right words or amount of time has him back on his feet, ready to try again. Mostly from Al, but also demonstrated with Maria Ross during the lab 5 research.

First and foremost, his strongest trait could easily be labeled as loyalty - as even at a young age, above all else Edward's first priority is family. As a child his interest in alchemy only multiplied with the pleasure his mother had found in their work. His dedication to making her happy and seeking praise was tireless, even after she was taken by illness, determined to bring her back to life and see her smile again. Edward's devotion to family, and thirst for knowledge to fuel that devotion, can make one wonder if he has any desires of his own.

No matter how level-headed he may be in other situations, Ed's concern for his younger brother's well being can completely wipe out his thought process. Al in danger automatically erases any trace of rational thought from his mind, instantly putting him in just as much - if not more - danger than anyone else involved. Ed's crippling fear of losing his brother, and overbearing guilt for what he perceives as his fault - Al losing his body - can be life threatening. During the transmutation when Ed realizes that not only did he fail to bring back their mother, he lost Al in the process, he offers everything he has to get him back screaming, 'my arm, my heart, take anything you want-' to sacrifice himself for his brother's return. This mindset is demonstrated several times throughout the series, and can easily be described as Ed's biggest weakness, he never considers his own health or safety when it comes to protecting Al. Ed is always thinking of Al first, even at the risk of his own life.

Edward maintains an intense bond to his brother that others might call obsessive, despite fearing that Alphonse hates him (blaming him for the loss of his body), Ed repeatedly puts himself in danger to save his brother's life, willing to die without a hesitation when Scar promises not to harm Al in return. He's willing to risk life and limb - literally - for the younger boy's well being, going so far as to transmute himself to bring Alphonse back from the Gate, after the younger Elric uses the Philosopher's Stone to revive him.

He has an ego that boasts of self importance, but he carries an ill-concealed guilt and insecurity about a lot of things under that cocky attitude. As much as he seeks praise and recognition with strangers throughout his teenage years, around those he trusts it's much more obvious that he feels unworthy of any ego stroking. Edward blames himself for the human transmutation and the disastrous results it caused - even though Al assumes the responsibility as well. Ed shoulders the blame of what's gone wrong in his past, and given time to dwell on it, can let the guilt of previous actions (or inaction, in the case of Nina) consume him. Still, this doesn't stop him from being cocky in public, and stubborn about things he truly believes in. He's determined and goal oriented, self-absorbed in a number of ways and often boasts of putting his own goals first, regardless of the warnings given to him about their danger. Despite this, doing what he believes is right remains a big priority for him. Edward believes in always moving forward, imposing this belief upon others during trying times in their lives the same way Mustang expected it of him when he was devastated by the tragic loss of Nina.

It takes facing the reality of Alphonse becoming the Philosopher's Stone and how human nature itself nurtures war for him to mature past this tunnel vision, and realize that we're all responsible in part for the world around us. Ed continues to have some growing to do even from that point, as two years later his thoughts remain on his own newer goal, his brother and his world - instead of the life that's in front of him.

All of that changes when, once again, Ed is faced with war - and his brother - telling him that they need to accept their part of the blame for what's happened and focus on the world around them instead of just their own goals.

This was ridiculous. Wherever he was, he didn't recognize it and a quick glance around revealed nothing but a small red and white ball sitting on the otherwise unremarkable bed. Ed picked it up - hoping to get some information from somewhere - with a frown. Inspecting it curiously as he turned it over in his hands, the blond was completely caught off guard when it cracked open emitting a white light, only to find a small white pony standing before him with a flaming tail and mane. That... was not what he expected. Although, it was hard to say he knew what to expect at all. Ed barely had a chance to react before some woman showed up, practically pushing him out of the house with a bag and some cheerful nonsense about a journey. It wasn't as if he'd intended to find himself in some stranger's house, but he couldn't figure out how to get back if he had no idea how he got here in the first place - so he didn't take being ushered from the only room he supposed had any clues too lightly. Still, the woman didn't seem too interested in his questions or protests, insisting that everything he needed to know was right there in the bag she'd handed to him, and he should be on his way. Resigned to not getting back in any time soon, Ed sighed and turned his back to the house, glancing around to take in his surroundings.

    "Where the hell..."

Before he even had a chance to question what was going on, he noticed the music. Definitely a far cry from the sounds he was used to, and not a familiar face in sight - which was an odd thing to find bizarre, but after two years he'd gotten pretty used to it. Ed found a bench and settled down there to look through this bag that's supposed to have all of his answers in it, only to find none. He barely contained the groan as he rifled through the bag, pushing aside clothes and other random items until he came across something that caught his attention. Sure, there was plenty of information but it wasn't the kind of information he wanted. From the sounds of it this place wasn't anywhere near Germany, nevermind where he'd last remembered being with his brother. Which meant wherever here was, Al was there alone - and Germany was no Amestris. A little more wary about touching the gadgets he found in this world, Edward turned to the paper notes instead.

He jumped to his feet as the animal from earlier approached regarding him curiously, attempting to shove its face into the bag before Ed snatched it away.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?! Why are you even still here, shouldn't you run off or something?"

The pokémon's head tilted curiously, calmly watching him as if to imply it had the patience to wait him out, which only made Ed scowl in response before a thought occurred to him. There was something in the information he'd been reading about being able to learn about these creatures by pointing the Gear provided at them. Warily, he pulled the small device out of the bag and looked it over - carefully - before following the instructions to understand how the PokéDex worked. Thanks to the Trainer Handbook, figuring out the 'Gear wasn't too hard for someone like Ed, despite his technological disadvantage, and he was going through the information in no time. When he positioned it toward the pony though, he nearly jumped as the screen lit up with various information about the pokémon before him.

Well, at least that was taken care of. If it wasn't going to leave him alone, the least he could do was find some food for it. Maybe that's why it was poking its nose into his bag in the first place. With a shrug, Ed closes the bag and slings it over his shoulder starting toward the path leading out of town.

"Let's go. Maybe we can find you something to eat along the way."

The ponyta followed after him cautiously, as if expecting him to change his mind any minute, not that it seemed to deter the creature.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/114311-Explaining-the-Term-Warriors-of-Light <--this is some information about how the term "Warrior of Light" applies. Naltryd falls under the Second Wave category.

Any further details are pretty much just the game's plot, linked down in the next section.

Original Character Background: As Naltryd's the playable character in an MMORPG, here we go!

Naltryd was born in the city-state of Ul'dah to a middle class merchant couple. Though her parents were not Ul'Dah natives, the reputation of the city's wealth was something that attracted many merchants (and people in general) to try to make a living there. Many found it nigh impossible to break into the established market, but they'd somehow managed, and both lived and sold their wares on the outskirts of the city near its wall. An only child, Naltryd was expected to take over the family business, and so much of her childhood was spent both learning crafts (weaving, in particular) and learning how to be a successful businesswoman. She was decent enough at it, but it often left her bored and restless.

Even with a mostly successful business, however, being outsiders to the city left her parents making more than a few enemies. In a place like Ul'dah, everything had an underbelly, and rags-to-riches stories weren't always met with admiration. For Naltryd's safety, they eventually left the city when she was about ten in order to become traveling salesmen and not catch anyone powerful's eyes too much. Naltryd took well to this, loving seeing new places and exploring new things. They never strayed too far outside of Thanalan, and living day to day on the road was never easy, but it still brought her joy.

When she was a teenager, she happened to stumble across a pugilist training against a dummy set up in a town her family was currently selling things in. The way he fought fascinated her, and she insisted he teach her what he knew, even if it was very little. It never hurt to be able to protect herself and her family, and even if he didn't have much to teach her, she took to it quickly anyway. Through the years she kept up a regimen she'd created for herself. Her style was sloppy and untrained, not having many concepts to work off of, but she did the best she could anyway.

Naltryd realized as the years passed that she much preferred fighting than selling shirts and trousers. Her parents were growing older, and she feared that the day would soon come where she would be expected to take up the mantle. She'd seen a little over twenty summers when the war with Garlemald came to a head and the Calamity occurred. Needless to say, no one came out of that incident unscathed. Her family had survived, but many others she had been familiar with had perished in Bahamut's attack. With the refugee camps outside Ul'dah's city walls overflowing, they instead took residence in a camp outside of Horizon. With people simply trying to survive and rebuild now, there wasn't as much business, though they got by decently enough selling basic clothing necessities to the townspeople and to others in similar situations to their own.

Naltryd helped where she could, but she found herself led more to helping patrol the area and dealing with any potential dangers from beasts than hawking wares. Her parents weren't blind to their daughter's wants and wishes. They gave her their blessing to take some time away to discover what she really wanted and who she wanted to be. She still didn't want to stray too far from them, of course, so she stayed in Thanalan. The pugilist she met years ago, she recalled, had mentioned something about having a master back in Ul'dah. And so she returned to her hometown, intent on seeking out the guild. Becoming an adventurer just seemed to come hand in hand with it all, a way to earn coin and help others at the same time. Plenty of people needed help now, more than ever, and she'd seen it for herself. And adventuring? That sounded great in general.

It was there in Ul'dah that she met Thancred, a Scion of the Seventh Dawn, and her life was changed forever. She discovered she had a supernatural ability called the Echo, one that would serve her well in the future. Naltryd soon found herself wrapped up in an adventure far beyond what she could have ever imagined. Eorzea was in danger from both the beast tribes within and neighboring land of Garlemald. It needed a hero, a shining beacon of light to inspire and save the people, and she would become this.

That wraps up pre-game events. As for game events…well, there's a lot considering how long this game has been out and the very nature of it being a story based MMO. This is the most comprehensive collection of plot summaries. It's honestly difficult to find anything shorter than that that covers the entire game up to date.

The background I determined for her is based mostly on the game's lore when it comes to Ul'dah. At the very beginning of the game, on your way to town, you are asked whether you've been there or not before. Both are options, and I chose the former. Since I created Naltryd in game as a hyur highlander, it would be more likely that her family was not native to a city heavily populated by lalafell. Most highlanders in the city are refugees from Ala Mhigo, but not all, so I went with the second most likely explanation in that her family were merchants. It wasn't until recently that we started learning more details about Ala Mhigo as it is, and it won't be until the next expansion that I would feel comfortable enough getting the details right in her family having come directly from there. And so, I worked with what solid lore the game has given us so far.

Her interest in becoming a pugilist is a way to explain how right now, her main job is monk. Nothing too lore specific there aside from the fact that Naltryd is based on my in game character and that punching things in the face is what I ended up mainly doing and becoming familiar with, mechanics and storyline included. Her urge to help people and fight instead of just sitting around stems from the fact that, well, you're an adventurer in the game. By the nature of a game like this, you're running fetch quests, saving the world, breaking rocks, and exterminating monsters. It's what the Warrior of Light does. There's also the ability to craft, of course, which is why I had her having learned a trade early on. That explains how she can do said crafting. The background as helping as a saleswoman as well lends to her having developed the charisma that the Warrior of Light clearly has in order to inspire so many people in Eorzea.

Personality: With a generally cheerful and bright demeanor, Naltryd tries to keep a smile on her face both for herself and those around her. She is the Warrior of Light, and it would not do for her to be outwardly gloomy. Naltryd is quick to laughter and finds amusement in even the ordinary. She has a tendency to tease and poke fun at her comrades, trying to keep the mood light during Eorzea's dark times. One of her main duties, after all, is to inspire those around her.

However, though she had always considered herself to be emotionally strong, her losses during her adventure have been building up and chipping away at her optimism. The loss of Haurchefant in particular is one she still has not gotten over, and each person's life around her claimed has affected her deeply. One close ally after another is slipping through her grasp, and for all her strength, she is powerless to save them. Deep in her heart, Naltryd is exhausted. Being the hero of Eorzea is an enormous burden. There are times where she feels bitter about her vital responsibility of solving the land's problems, almost enslaved to sacrifice everything.

Vengeance is something that she has also learned over time. Especially if her allies are targeted, she will never forgive, and never forget. When Haurchefant was taken from her, she vowed to tear the very heart out of the man responsible for it. She is fiercely protective of those she loves and will go to great lengths to protect them, and if she fails, then at least avenge them.

Through it all she still finds the strength to go on. Naltryd draws hope from her allies, and even if her steps are heavier, every smile on the face of someone she helps is enough to get her through the days.

Current Characters in Victory Road: Dirk Strider

    Character
    Name: Dirk Strider
    Series: Homestuck
    Timeline: Act 7
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki Entry

    Personality:
Dirk Strider is an enigmatic person. One would know nothing about him at a glance outside of assuming he might be some sort of cool stoic action hero. His weapon is something that's stated more than once as being "unbreakable." Dirk is unyielding and seems unbreakable himself, like he's made of steel. His outward disposition so aloof that people can't get a read on him. His introduction puts a lot of emphasis how talented and cool he is more than anything else about him. Even people who know him best had still needed to put him together like a puzzle. The reasons why he seems this way can sum up to Dirk having no idea how to act like a functioning human being sometimes.

He was alone for sixteen years. Dirk grew up in the middle of a flooded wasteland. He could never venture out into his chaotic world without a threat looming over. He managed to raise himself, somehow, despite this. He had to be active and know how to take initiative because the other option was perishing. Dirk's only (non-artificially created) social contact had been with people over the internet. Out of the five people he knows total, only one existed in the same time frame and two were aliens sharing a body. After starting the game, he has only had about half of year with them. Dirk has difficulty expressing himself and knowing how to act around people. He fails at not making his first relationship emotionally draining for Jake. He doesn't get why they shouldn't spend every waking second together. They were both alone all their lives so why would they want alone time?

It's joked by his friends that he could be an emotionless robot. He looks and acts like a ruthless mastermind. The first in-person meeting with his friends was him saving them in one swoop. He hadn't hesitated for a second to do things like kiss them all and murder himself. He's had to put aside outright expressing things to protect himself and to focus on the task at hand. He's never had to express certain things, anyway. Affection is difficult to express for him. This is true even if it's with Roxy, who he spent his entire life protecting, or his actual boyfriend. He hadn't known how to start a hug or when the proper time for it would be because he's never needed to do that before. Kisses were for the non-affectionate purpose of saving everyone's ass. He won't tell he cares for them outright unless pushed to an extreme. He'll choose to convey it in a way that seems like he's joking or he'll go sharing the thought with someone else. The proper way to share hasn't made itself known. Dirk wants people to know what he's thinking and feeling and expects them to see through any gesture. His lack of proper expression isn't enough to convey unless he outright says what's on his mind. He can appear more or less emotionally unbreakable, like a well-disciplined Vulcan. Even while under the influence of Trickster Mode, Dirk seems detached. His friends express thoughts and desires to eerie smiling extremes. He yells at them but remains in control of himself.

Being around Dirk, with all his social ineptitude, can be difficult. It's stated that Dirk has a usual way of getting exactly what he wants. He believes it's expected of him to do it all. He can be controlling and pushy. Taking the lead and pulling all the strings had been his self-described MO for a while. His method of doing things are the best possible method in his head. The best method could be completely insane to the normal person. For example, to teach Jake fight, he has a robot ambush him and beat the crap out of him. Dirk's method of teaching anyone how to ride a bike would be to shove them down a large hill and tell them to peddle.

His control-freak attitude can turn into playing mind games that border on manipulative. He insists things are good and handled when questioned. He assumes he is the one in control. He thinks of himself as a puppeteer, in every sense of the word (also holy SHIT does he love puppets). He grew up with puppets and robots he was responsible for creating and had never refused an idea from him. He ends up treating real people the same way he would treat the puppets and robots. The only thing that talked back was The Auto-Responder (Hal). He assumes AR to be predictable enough for a long time seeing how it's his brain in there. He gives Jane the title of leader but tells her he is going to be the one pulling the strings in the background. He doesn't ask if they're okay with his plans or even share the details before enacting them. He phrases things as opinions to nudge people into the direction he wants them to go. He assumes he knows what's best for people, knows what they need and where they need to improve. He gave his friends advice to aid their personal development. The advice was pointing out their flaws and explaining how to fix them. He tells Jake to be more skeptical and tells Jane to be less so. He leaves his Auto-Responder on with Jake to keep him toes and force this skepticism. He's the only one in the group that calls Roxy out on her drinking habits and tries to get her to stop.

His friends often have no idea what to make of his actions. They assume something might be part of some grand convoluted scheme they know they can't win. They often don't know how to talk to him directly. When they try, he doesn't realize when he's not letting someone get a word in. Roxy and Jake both express a fear of failing him, of telling him what they think. People have a hard time saying 'No.' It's never his intention to be this way.

Without a human culture to dictate the norm, he picked it apart from the past. His main influence is the long-dead guardian figure of his "Bro" (His universe's Dave). Not only with things left for him (an entire crawlspace filled with orange soda?) but in how he assumed the man acted. He's built up the legend in his head using what information he could gather. This is his idol, the legacy of which he wishes to live up to and improve upon. He believes having this positive figure helped him become a better person. Dave set the standard for who he wanted to be like. Being the overachiever that he is, he takes ironic gestures such as acts of masculinity to an extreme. He's a gay man but refuses to make his orientation anything more than a footnote. One of the reasons is to keep up an act of belonging to a culture that existed centuries before him. The performance, as he words it, is difficult to break. He's been doing it his entire life. This wall of dudebro irony and stoic expression helps him control his world. It allows him to fit in better with Jake and Jane, who exist at the same time his idol lived. They don't understand his situation until it's explained to them later on. This wall of irony also limits how visible his true thoughts and feelings are. This helps protect him from any monitoring by the evil alien overlord.

He's not an emotionless robot under that blank expression. He has a lot of feelings but they're internalized. While he does act upon the art-form of 'irony', there is sincerity in every action. He doesn't claim irony as a reason for him doing anything unless someone asks or he's embarrassed. Irony should, at its core under the many layers, be an act of sincerity. Dirk does know when to get serious. He's willing to admit when things aren't as perfect as he wants them to be when deemed necessary. This is true even in cases where he might justify the problems later. Dirk doesn't shy away from deep conversation when it's with someone he trusts. He knows they will understand what he's trying to articulate. He goes the deepest when speaking to Jane and later on Dave, people who he feels the most comfortable with. He's upfront with Jane right from the start and their conversations are the most telling. He thinks she gets him the most out of his core group. In a lesser instance, Calliope since she provided the method of contacting everyone. He goes to her for advice on things about the game. He is willing to share and offer genuine opinions, express fears and general thoughts. He'll go quiet and just listen in to offer support, despite how inexperienced he is at it.

Dirk has a huge heart. He loves almost unconditionally. He thinks he's being helpful until it becomes clear he's not. His habit of pushing his friends stems from wanting to witness them to succeed. He never assumes that they're incapable of doing something with the right motivation. He doesn't think having a robot kick Jake's ass would ever hurt him because he thinks Jake can beat it. He believes in his friends completely and holds the utmost respect for them. This goes especially for Roxy. He thinks she is far stronger than he'll ever be. He sees her as the only one capable of overcoming her own flaws and the main glue that keeps them (him) together. He feels guilty his love can only be platonic because he just wants to make her happy. Dirk confesses doesn't think he could ever intentionally cause her harm. This carries over to any of his friends. He can't raise his sword to them, even if it he knew it would result in their advancement. He wouldn't want to raise a hand to them either, unless he thinks they can block it. He even hesitates destroying his own creations. He refuses to throw a lifeless puppet away that holds sentimental value. He claims Lil' Cal is his guardian on more than one occasion. The thought of having to intentionally hurt terrifies him. He'd rather sacrifice himself than have someone/thing he cares about face pain. In a doomed timeline (resulting from [S] Game Over), he completely gives up when his friends die. He's too overcome with grief and lets himself fade into pixelated oblivion. In a life where the majority of it had been loneliness, he clings to people that give him the light of day.

Dirk can often play the straight man (pun not intended) to his friends. He's the logical voice of reason while they're all hyped up on magic candy. He calls himself a "wet-blanket." His reactions to antics can be the equal to looking into the camera like he's on The Office. This does not mean he can not be downright ridiculous himself or just plain awkward. He's an intellectual and uses it in endless sarcasm. This displays at times as being an insufferable know-it-all. This like Rose Lalonde, his ectodaughter. Roxy comments with "You're Dirk!" upon hearing her speak. He shares a verbose analytical way of talking to people. This isn't surprising considering his conversational partners were robots. He has habit of getting too long-winded with his writings. While he speaks more like Rose, he has tangents using inappropriate metaphors like Dave. He can be both terse and wordy depending on who he's talking to and the current comfort level. Jake has been on the receiving end of getting blunt one-word replies laced with sarcasm. Jane has gotten paragraphs of rambling filled with pop-culture and literary references. He might say something and have no one know what he means or get carried away. He will immediately shut up when he realizes this. He's completely game for humorous fun when nothing dire is happening. For instance, Dirk indulges Caliborn's request that he draw smut. The drawings end up including Jake eating a baby and Roxy comparing breasts to an ocean.

He knows he might not be completely up-to-date on Normal Behavior 101 but he still thinks he's cool. He knows he's cool. He thinks he's the coolest. He doesn't pretend to be. He thinks he is to the point of having bragging rights about it. He thinks he's basically Batman, intelligent and badass. He has absurd hobbies and interests but he owns that he likes what he likes. He can have people questioning if there's so many layers of irony that he made something stupid cool. He has a lot of confidence when it comes to almost all his abilities. He takes action and is completely confident a plan will work. He knows he's fully capable. He's a perfectionist and an overachiever who puts far more than 100% into everything he does. He sets the bar high for himself and everyone around him.

The only thing he's not confident in is his own personality. A sword may look awesome and be useful in a fight but it's full of sharp edges and dangerous to be around otherwise. He knows he's cool but he also knows "cool" could be a terrible person. Growing up alone, Dirk has been with his own thoughts for a long time. He surrounded himself with versions of himself. This made a constant mirror for him to look into and see his own flaws. He externalizes these versions to the point where he often feels he is an outsider looking at himself. After finally being around people, he realizes his interactions with people can be toxic. He does not believe himself to be a good person in the slightest. Dirk puts himself in a constant struggle to avoid being an even worse person. His own worst enemy is himself, metaphorically and literally. This is clear with how to reacts to the Auto Responder. The AR is an artificial intelligence that started out as a copy of brain at age thirteen. Dirk allowed him to pretend to be him until he realized his behavior is something he doesn't like. The AR points out is the same behavior Dirk would be having in the same situation. The AR is rude to him and Dirk does it back because this is how he thinks he deserves to be treated.

    Character
    Name: Madoka Kaname
    Series: Puella Magi Madoka Magicka
    Timeline: Anime, post-second episode
Canon Resource Links: Here is the anime's main page, and Here is Madoka's page.

    Personality:
Madoka is a very kind, gentle and otherwise completely normal girl (aside from her potential to rewrite the universe). Her mother describes her as a good child, and one who stays out of trouble, never lies and always tries to do the right thing. Outwardly, she is cheerful and personable, makes friends easily and is generally well liked by the people she meets and interacts with.

But there's a sadness about her, too — a timidness, a naivete, and lack of faith in herself that stands in the way of her desperate desire to help, to protect her friends. She's shown to react in several different ways when presented with difficult situations: one way is that she second-guesses herself, which can lead to her freezing, even if she might find inaction just as terrifying as confronting it.

The greatest example of this is pretty much the entire anime up until about the end of episode 11: For most of the series, she is pulled in different directions, from wanting to help but lacking the ability, to Homura stopping her from becoming a magical girl, to disbelief when she's told that she's anything but an average girl, and that there's nothing particularly special about her. It isn't until nearly the end that she stops being a bystander while the world crumbles around her, and she finds the courage to do something — and most importantly, she realizes that though the world is cruel and unfair, she can ease the pain in her own way.

Madoka harbors an overwhelming, desperate hope that the world is good, and that people, despite the way they act or what they do, are ultimately good as well. This is the most important part of the way that Madoka sees the world, and it's this major viewpoint that drives most of her actions — often to a fault. She has gone out of her way to try to reconcile her friends' poor (and even violent) relations with each other, and she has accepted or sought out friendship from people who give her no good reason to (e.g. Homura). Prove her viewpoint wrong, and Madoka crumbles, like how she does when Kyubey tells her that magical girls are nothing more than pawns for the universe.

This hope of hers is a flaw in her character, should she try to befriend the wrong person, and also the aspect of her personality that drove her to save magical girls from their true fate. ("If someone tells me that it's wrong to hope, I'll tell them they're wrong every time.") This fierce dedication to the good in humanity is a core part of who Madoka is — turning her into a cynical person would be a nearly impossible feat.

Another factor that affects how Madoka approaches the world is how she compares herself to the people she admires. She admires, for instance, her mother's strength and intelligence, and her mother is the main person that Madoka has tried to emulate throughout her life. It's safe to say that if Madoka were to encounter a person whose character she genuinely admires, then she would take any advice offered from that person to heart, and would try to apply it in the next situation she's up against — though, this has had disastrous results before!

Madoka cares deeply for her friends and family, and is willing to tag along into dangerous situations (e.g. witch hunts), even if she thinks she might not be much help. She views herself as better at supporting her friends, but she has jumped into the fray on occasion.

And although she has a habit of doubting herself, when she does make a decision on something, she moves forward with it with conviction. In one timeline, it's hinted that Madoka wanted to be useful so badly that she became a magical girl with pretty much the first wish that she found — saving a cat that had been hit by a car. In the end of the anime, she defies the person she admires the most, her mother, because of her decision to make a wish that would save everyone.

Another side to Madoka's personality that is not really present at this canon point is how she acts when she gains a lot more confidence in herself. When she's given the "tools" to help others as she imagines she should, she feels she finally has the power to help others, and she has an honorable purpose. The courage she was always too self-conscious to show shines here, and she stands up against adversity and danger without any reservations. In canon, this almost always happens when Madoka makes a wish and becomes a magical girl. In game, perhaps she could tap into that confidence by learning how she can do her best by her pokémon.

Starter: I think an Eevee would be a good choice for Madoka — they're both pretty normal, and they're both sources of huge potential. The one Madoka would start with would have the same reservations about her abilities that her owner does. Figuring themselves out and getting stronger would be a fun journey for them to take together.

Second choice would be a Skitty.

[and then the grass gives Eevee a reason to fear it. a Pidgey, approximately the size of a barge in comparison to the little Eevee standing there, suddenly bursts out into the open, wings spread and ready to Gust Eevee back into New Bark Town.]

    — Hey! No!

[in a snap, Madoka's on her feet, and she hesitates, looking around frantically for a stick, or anything, really, to try to drive away Eevee's very first opponent in her very first pokémon battle. with no other options, her backpack will have to do. she bolts over and sidesteps in between the Pidgey and Eevee, reeling back with her backpack.]

    Name: Starlight Glimmer

    Canon Resource Links: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Starlight_Glimmer
    http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/My_Little_Pony_Friendship_is_Magic_Wiki

Personality: At a glance, Starlight is a headstrong pony who manages to speak her mind in the most strange and strenuous moments. Believing in herself as well as believing in her own abilities, Starlight manages to be both reckless and headstrong, with a penchant for struggling with making the right choice over the quick and easy choice.

First of all, she has her good strengths. Starlight is a born leader, one who is capable of commanding a group of people to victory. She is akin to a general, or a commander-type personality who thinks little for the downsides of her actions, and manages to continue working towards the end result. Its this kind of personality and single-minded determination that allows her to succeed in situations that would cow lesser ponies into thinking or second guessing their actions.

Starlight moves in a way that is full of purpose, but it isn’t without flaws. As a commander-type person, she is prone to missing the small things that make up a circle of friends, such as wants and needs. She can be blunt and somewhat insensitive of her friends feelings, and at one point was literally bottling her anger against her first and best friend Trixie. Starlight deals with frustration and anxiety in an over the top manner, blowing up or gritting her teeth and letting it pass while the rage smolders. It is this single minded direction that made her such an effective villain for Season 5, and a repentant friend in Season 6.

Starlight’s ability to adapt to almost any situation can be quite over the top in some cases, able to master hands and feet and learn how to be human for a few short days, while at the same time solving a major friendship problem with a magically empowered Juniper Montage. Her ability to solve problems with magic however, thus taking the easy way out of her problems can be a huge stepping stone for her.

As Starlight solves most of her problems with magic and magic solutions, her biggest flaw is that she takes this as the easy solution, a way out of problems. Can’t get someone to talk? Magically animate his voice. Can’t stop getting mad at Trixie? Bottle up your rage until it explodes. Can’t work with five of Twilight’s best friends? Hypnotize them. Starlight’s capability of magic is very advanced, but it’s a crutch that she has leaned on for many years. Utilizing her magical talent for a quick solution has become second nature, which is something she will have to deal with, without magic. She will still be prone to excessive shortcutting as always, but will achieve this by being good at many things first unknown to her.

As a protagonist, Starlight sees the world as a challenge around her. She doesn’t want to leave Twilight’s side, and has a lot to learn about Friendship and Harmony, the very glue of Equestria. And yet, she is brave enough to strike out on her own, when the challenge is given. Starlight doesn’t give up, as attributed to her forming her own group of friends and forge ahead with challenges. She is headstrong and prone to worrying about an issue later on, once it is pointed out to her. She takes the shortcuts seen instantly, and doesn’t bother with correcting her course of action until it is almost too late. But she values her friends, and treasures her loved ones as much as she treasures her own skill with magic. In short, Starlight is a strong, headstrong girl with high leadership values, but can be blind to her own faults until it comes back to bite her in the rear. Thus, being said, her faults also include rushing ahead, taking too many shortcuts, and acting impulsively and beating herself up for it later.

    http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Equestria_Girls_animated_media#Specials

Personality:Like most of the Equestria Girls counterparts, this Twilight Sparkle is a vastly different character than her pony princess counterpart. While both variations are super smart, the human Twilight is more gifted into science, seeing as magic really didn’t exist there until Sunset Shimmer and Princess Twilight Sparkle arrived. As such, this Twilight is a little more introverted and shut in than her pony counterpart. This is a girl who will hunt down the logical reason as to why something works, and that includes magic. An inquisitive girl, she’ll gladly go to great lengths to sate her her curiosity. She has even created a device meant to capture magic for studying.

However, because of this sort of nature, this has made her something of a shut-in. She’s the kind of person who’d be happy to bury herself into books, make straight A’s on tests and spend long nights on SCIENCE. Thus, sadly, has made her the butt of many jokes and bad-mouthing from the other girls from Crystal Prep and can easily make her susceptible to manipulation, as Headmaster Finch used her admissions into other schools as bribes to get her to participate in the Friendship Games. Being stuck in the Friendship Games also showed that she was a VERY poor athlete.

Sadly, Twilight’s insecurities as helped manifest itself into something of a split personality - Midnight Sparkle, the end result of Twilight’s magic-capturing device going out of control and dumping all of that magic inside her. Midnight Sparkle ramps up Twilight’s curiosity levels to the point that she will literally rend space/time to learn about anything and will gleefully let people be harmed and killed by it, a subtle revenge against everyone whose mocked and belittled her. As such, after having it contained by Sunset Shimmer, Twilight’s biggest fear is unleashing her again. Until the events at Everfree Camp allowed Twilight to finally take control without unleashing her, she feared using magic in the event she did take over. However, while she has control over this power, Twilight seems to use it in measured amounts, effectively using an Equestrian Unicorn’s basic levatation and telekinesis spells instead of being “all magic all the time” like her counterpart.

    Name: Newton "Newt" Scamander
    Series: Harry Potter Universe
Timeline: End of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them:
    Canon Resource Links:
    A wizard's tale

    Personality:
Newt isn't really a people person. Sure he does well enough when he has to interact with others but he definitely seems to prefer to just not interact with anyone outside of his animals if he can help it. He doesn't know how to carry conversations all that well, usually ending them awkwardly and quickly in an attempt to carry on his way and finish whatever it is he's working on. His nervous ticks rear their head the most when he's around other people, Newt sometimes fumbling over words if he gets too flustered or even doing anything he can to keep his hands busy and his eye contact elsewhere. He's not trying to be rude; he's just that awkward about things sometimes. (Most of the time he'll just do his best to avoid social interactions as a whole but there are times when it's inevitable. Unfortunately.)

While he may not be much of a people person, Newt doesn't harbor any ill will towards other nor is he the type to discriminate. He sees people as people and treats everyone with the same respect and kindness. He's very much a man of principle in that sense and will openly counter someone that is attempting to discriminate against someone for some reason or another. It's this same mindset that has him putting people and animals on the same pedestal, so to speak, seeing everyone as equals no matter what they may be considered.

When it comes to animals, Newt becomes a completely different person. He's much more open around creatures and smiles more often and in general just becomes a bit more chatty. He really seems to be in his element when he's surrounded by animals and becomes more social, willing engaging people that may happen to be around while he's interacting with his suitcase full of beasts. He's extremely devoted to the creatures in his care and spends the majority of his time keeping them safe, happy and healthy. He's very passionate about everything to do with his study of fantastic beasts, well versed in every aspect of the creatures he cares for and very willing to learn everything he can about those that he hasn't encountered yet.

Newt doesn't have much in the way of a temper, preferring to flee rather than get into an argument with others. He prefers to try and find a peaceful solution, if necessary, never wanting to willing harm a person or beast. This isn't to say that he won't engage in a wizarding duel if necessary and he can definitely hold his own (Newt is well versed in charms and is a very quick draw with his wand while also accomplished at using nonverbal magic) but it's usually a last resort for him. Now, threaten his animals and you may see a very different side of Newt but even then it's not a violent temper; more of a worried, fearful anger that comes out where he'd rather get hurt himself but allowing his beasts to.

Is he lonely? Maybe a little but Newt seems to enjoy being on his own and he's always got his animals with him so he really isn't ever alone. While most people probably wouldn't enjoy a life traveling the world without company Newt thrives on that sort of experience. That's not to say that he doesn't miss the small group of friends that he has because he definitely does. He just can't seem to stay in one place for too long and doesn't want anyone uprooting themselves for his sake.

Newt is very intelligent in more than just things concerning beasts, a very quick study in both the wizard and muggle worlds. He uses the knowledge he has of both words to continue his study of beasts and adapt to whatever situation he may end up in. He's got an encyclopedic knowledge of creatures, is skilled in crafting potions, has an extensive knowledge of magical history and, in general, is just a quick study in anything that could be useful to him. He'll willingly share this information with others that show interest, more than happy to teach people about creatures and everything to do about them if they ask.

"What have I told you about stealing?" Newt scolded the small Niffler cradled in the crook of his arm, carefully holding a gold watch and several coins in his other hand. The small creature snuffed at him and immediately tried to squirm out of his grasp to reach for the goods but Newt easily kept them out of reach. Despite his scolding his lips did quirk into the faintest smile as he started the trek back towards his hotel, tucking the gold pieces into his coat pocket. The Niffler immediately let out a frustrated sound but Newt simply shook his head, adjusting his hold on the irritably little thing.

"Now that will be enough of that. You've had quite enough fun for today," he murmured and the little creature finally seemed to settle--or at least give up. For now. Newt knew it was only a matter of time before it slipped off again to hoard more gold but at least for now he'd stopped the little thief.

A soft murmur of a spell shielded him and the Niffler from sight so he could slip through the lobby of the hotel without drawing attention, Newt taking the stairs two at a time to get up to the fourth floor. The spell dropped as he reached his door and he slipped inside without much noise, locking it securely before tension seemed to seep out of him via a sigh. His coat was shed carefully so as not to disturb the Niffler too much, the article of clothing haphazardly tossed over an armchair as the wizard made his way over to where his suitcase rested. It only took a moment before Newt was walking down the steps inside it, absently tickling the Niffler's stomach as he nudged the door of his shed open to let him out into the habitat area. Immediately several cries went up, various creatures greeting him and it had Newt smiling a bit wider as he knelt to let the Niffler go.

"Hello to all of you as well," he said happily, straightening up and dusting his hands off. "Now then, who's hungry?"

    Original Character Background: N/A

Personality: At her core Gaige is your average Teenage Nerd girl, just amped up to 11. She loves cupcakes, unicorns, and hardcore robotics. She has high school rivalries that ended in inadvertent bloodshed, and she's on the run from the authorities starting a new life as a Vault Hunter. You know...normal high school stuff.

She can be very aggressive, learning in a short amount of time to be a brutal and violent warrior of the wasteland killing her way cheerfully through hordes and hordes of bandits and local wildlife to accomplish her goals. This may have left her a little morally disconnected causing her to do some things she regrets such as stealing the wig off a peaceful robot who was in love with another robot causing the former wig owner to go insane and die. But at least she finished the quest she was on and that was what was important at the time. Of course she's always been more about the results then thinking about the damage her impulsive plans may cause. Such as when she sliced off her arm to graft on a robotic prosthetic so she could win the science fair with her ultimate bully deterrent robot.

Despite her prone to violence attitude and rebellious nature, Gaige is a good person on the whole and does whatever she can to help the people around her. Be it helping a local hill billy try to seduce a girl, or saving the world from a monster that threatens to destroy it. She also has a soft spot in her heart for robots, A.I and her friends the other vault hunters. She looks to them as her new family and Gaige would do anything for her family. It's something she picked up from her dad who has put his life on the line for her more then once because he loves her and that's what fathers do for their brilliant criminal daughters.

She does tend to favor chaos and destruction over a carefully planned attack though. She loves the punk rock aesthetic and so she thrives on causing anarchy and chaos on the battlefield. To the point she has created a technology that allows her to shoot more powerfully while sacrificing her accuracy.

Starter: Beldum: Gaige's gimmick in Borderlands 2 is her ability to summon a hovering robot that fights alongside her, protects her and is often a much better fighter then she is. Beldum may start as a flying eyeball drone with one attack, but once they level up into Metang they honestly have a similar body structure to Gaige's robot Deathtrap. Arms, torso, no legs due to hovering. Claws for punching. The only big difference is Deathtrap has a bitty head and big torso where Metang is kind of more of a flying saucer type body. But she's not going to bodyshame him. She'll just be so proud of her little drone for evolving to something so cool.

How else would she be able to join groups and maximize her potential for mad loot? And so without much thought or rehearsal she began broadcasting to the world at large.
"Greetings fellow pokemon trainers and assorted troublemakers! It is I, Gaige the Legendary Mechromancer!!! But don't feel bad if you haven't heard of me. I guess we're in a different universe or something." She beams with delight because aside from how cool the world itself is, the scientific possibilities for alternate universes is staggering as any good geek knows.
"And by that I mean a TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME UNIVERSE! Do you realize I've been playing games like this since I was just a kid?!" Ignoring the fact that she is basically still a child. A teenager yes but a childish one.
"Monster hunting? Monster Battles? Retro music? HELL YEAH! This is gonna be ah-maze-ing~"
"So a little bit about me for you! I'm a Mechromancer which...well normally that means I can summon this big badass robot I created named Deathtrap. I used to summon him with my robot arm which I designed myself except..."
Her face falls here with a sigh raising up a perfectly normal not robotic arm. Flesh and blood and not a bit of robot summoning ability. Lame.
"So yeah...that blows. DT would have loved this place too. He'd be the ultimate Pokemon! But OK, fine as long as I get him back when I go home."
Just like that she perks up again speaking excitedly into the camera.
"So my interests are Robots, Science, hard rock and overthrowing corrupt soulless corporations! SMASH THE SYSTEM!!!" This last part is of course accompanied by Gaige throwing her hand up with pointer and pinkie extended in the universal symbol of "The horns"
"So hit me up if you wanna throw down! Bring it on world! Because if you don't? I'll be bringing it to you!"
    "Gaige OUT! "
Cutting the signal she beamed to herself and waited for the replies to come rolling in. In the meantime she finally opted to pop open her pokeball and see just what kind of creature she was going to be dealing with.
Of course it probably would have been a better idea to do that BEFORE calling out every trainer in the world for a fight...but oh well. What was done was done.

    Wiki Article

Personality: The right hand of the Prince presents himself as composed and serious, though to say at all times would be a falsehood but best to start here as it is the face most seen by those who don’t know him well.

Perhaps Noctis’s most unflinchingly loyal companion. Ignis has been by his side since the prince was only three when he was chosen to become the King’s advisor. Education that would have put many into an early grave led the sharp minded Ignis to a resourcefulness beyond most others surrounding Noctis.

He took on a more nurturing role after the death of Noctis’s mother, focusing on where he would be of best utility. Even though he isn’t keen on cooking it was the easiest decision to make. His eternal struggle is convincing Noctis to eat at least one healthy meal a day, though it often ends up a week.. Or month depending on how stubborn the prince is feeling. Ignis’s patience is something to be revered to be sure.

There are ways to burn that fuse down though.Intentions are difficult to read for him which may be a boon in the sense of carrying caution for the sake of his prince but can cause Ignis to appear prickly to those he’s newly met. Shady words and unclear motives only frustrate him to the point of losing that refined composure he’s built. Jokes are included in the steps within the social dance that rankle Ignis. Much like his decision to wear glasses despite a lack of true need Ignis also requires people to be as crystal clear as his sight.

Not to say he lacks a sense of humor. He shares the amusement held by his closest friends of word play and has quite a tongue for sarcasm when the moment presents itself. Being around close friends brings out that softer side. Generally if he’s sharing a sense of humor with someone that person can trust that they have entered within Ignis’s more inner circle.

Despite any relaxation he presents though Ignis always has a very acute awareness of who he is in relation to those around him. Ignis understands that he was presented with this opportunity because he showed himself to be gifted at a young age. Every decision he makes is for the Prince.

The man demands precision. He demands details and thorough planning. Mistakes are difficult for him to accept. They mean at some point Ignis miscalculated and a miscalculation is a failure. Even if a mistake happens through someone else, if it was his plan then it was his fault. His need for that perfectionism goes beyond a tactician’s need for a plan to go well.

His life has been so wrapped around Noctis’s that to fail the Prince, regardless of mission, is to fail family. Having little contact with family during his education means that his friendships are the most important connections to him. The compassion he feels towards people that trust his word is the sharpest blade. He knows every decision that he’s trusted to make could result in a death and a death would cut worse than any real sword could.

Though there are four of them Ignis bears an undue amount of weight due to his own high expectations of himself. He carries this weight with quite amount of grace. The understanding of duty and loyalty are what drives him forward, as well as quite a bit of Ebony. Ignis seems to only rest when he is certain others have been fed and are at rest first.

At least there was sunlight. The sound of birds, as strange as they were, in the air. People, talking and laughing. At least there was that. It felt almost normal, if not for being a strange world.

Ignis was unsure of how he got here. He had fallen asleep then woke up here. Someone told him where he was. ‘New Bark Town’. No where he recognized. Then he was provided a device, a bag, and a ball. There was some explanation given but the gist was…

He wasn’t in Eos any more.

There was another issue as well. Ignis relied so much on his hearing now to get him through the world that this constant background noise-- Music they all seemed so used to that they didn’t even notice-- was making it difficult for him to pick his way around independently.

Then he remembered what he was told about the ball. A little creature was within it. He released it with a loud noise that made him think of Magitek but less threatening in a way. The sound of the creature was distinct. He’d been told what it was.

    Audino.

“Hello?” It felt strange to be questioning what had been described to him as distinctly non-human. Still, he’d been told these ‘Pokemon’ were intelligent.

The Audino responded with a happy noise, but it turned to concern a moment later when she realized Ignis wasn’t exactly looking at her. Looking in her direction but not at her.

“I’m told you can provide me some assistance. Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t need any but these are.. Stressful, to say the least.”

He felt the little hand--Paw?-- touche his. The Audino was holding it now, between both of her’s as she made quite a determined sound. She could certainly help her new trainer! How terrible, that her trainer be blind but she was up to the challenge.

“Excellent. I’m glad that we can come to this understanding. I wasn’t given a name for you, do you..?”

Her head pressed up under his hand to show him she was shaking it. He gave her a soft smile in return, leaving his hand there between her ears.

“I was told your coloration was pink. I think.. ‘Dahlia’ would be a fine name for you then. Do you agree?”

The Audino, now Dahlia, nodded beneath the hand, smiling and making a happy sound. This would be a wonderful partnership, she was certain.

Despite his initial concerns Ignis found himself agreeing without so many words. Dahlia had adapted quite readily to his disability and seemed eager to be of service.

    Character
    Name: Nisha Kadam
    Series: Borderlands
    Timeline: Post-death.
Canon Resource Links: Here! But as that's a little insufficient, here's a very basic rundown of Nisha's role in the games. CW for child abuse.
Nisha Kadam had a troubled childhood; her mother was abusive to her, and Nisha downright hated her. Still does, in fact, but not as actively; what's the fun in hating a dead woman 24/7? Anyway, Nisha and her mom had an awful, terrible relationship. It culminated in Nisha's mother throwing something, and Nisha dodging it--therefore hitting her dog, who'd been bitten by some Pandoran monstrosity. Her dog went bananas, essentially, and attacked Nisha. Nisha put the dog down herself... and after that, she absolutely hated small animals.

Not much is known about Nisha after that, until Jack hires her to hunt a vault for him. By this time, Nisha's cultivated a reputation for being "the bandit who kills bandits." She's infamous for it, and it's one of the reasons Jack hires her: She's good at what she does. Nisha joins up with Jack and the other Vault Hunters, and together, they hunt a vault. They manage to succeed... and then Lilith punches a Vault relic into Jack's face because, by this time, Jack has gone completely off the rails. This suits Nisha just fine, however; she's pretty in love with Jack at this point. So, while the other Vault Hunters leave Jack's employment and inner circle for good, Nisha and Wilhelm remain. She and Jack start a relationship, and by the time Borderlands 2 rolls around, Nisha and Jack are still together. Not all that shocking when you look at the kind of people they are.

Anyway, Jack at some point gives Nisha a town as an anniversary present: Lynchwood. Nisha styles herself as its sheriff, and luckily for Jack, there's an eridium mine just outside Lynchwood. She ships eridium out of the town for reasons she doesn't know, but she assumes it's part of Jack's plan to wake the Warrior. Somehow. Nisha's town is going pretty smoothly, with regular shipments out of it, until the Vault Hunter arrives. They basically disable her town however they can, by blowing up her bank and halting eridium shipments. Obviously, Nisha can't let this fly... so she challenges them to a showdown. The Vault Hunter accepts and faces her in a rigged fight.

    And she dies.
Personality: Confident and self-assured, Nisha is not the kind of woman you want to mess with. She's a sharpshooter in every sense of the word--she's observant, which is kind of a good thing when you're on Elpis or Pandora. It's the reason she's so good at her job as the Sheriff: Nothing gets past her. Nisha's got eyes everywhere, and she's got a hell of a confident streak because of it. And as the Sheriff of Lynchwood, Nisha's absolutely unforgiving of any slights--which helps keep her in her position, most likely, because she scares the crap out of... a lot of people. A lot of people.

And Nisha's comfortable with who she is. She's had a rough childhood, but it's made her all the more strong. It's made her hardened and cruel, but she works it. Nisha's not a difficult person to please--just give her a gun or a whip and she's pretty much set, if someone doesn't get on her bad side. Nisha's a simple woman with simple needs: she likes killing. It's pretty much her calling, and she embraces it to hell and back. It's what makes her pretty darn independent; even her boyfriend won't convince her to change Lynchwood to "Hyperion City." But back to the killing thing: Nisha likes it a lot. It's what gets her rocks off; she cultivated a reputation for being the "bandit who kills bandits." She's good at it, too; Nisha is not a woman to be trifled with. A perfect example of her being honestly pretty damned petty is when the player works through the Lynchwood missions. They blow up her bank, disrupt the shipments of eridium going out of Lynchwood, and while Nisha acts impressed--and on some level she is--she is definitely steaming inside. It's a contrast from her Elpis days, when she'd merely shoot someone in the face; Nisha is more cool and collected, and calmly challenges the player to a showdown. A fair fight. That's what decent people would do: Set up a one-on-one showdown.

Except Nisha Kadam is not a decent person. Rather, she's so steamed that, while the player's Vault Hunter brings just themselves and their gun, Nisha has an entourage. This is after the fact that she's explicitly told the Vault Hunter to "come alone." Rather than address the fact that she's downright cheating, she merely tells the Vault Hunter, "Jack missed his shot. I won't!" before shooting at them. Funnily enough, it's in a fight that the crazy comes out. She even sounds winded--not from the physical effort, but from the pure adrenaline of a good gunfight. Nisha doesn't pull her punches at all; she taunts the Vault Hunter throughout the whole fight ("I'll tell Jack you said hi"), claiming that while they're good, she's better. Nisha's cocky--but that's because she's good and she knows it.

But Nisha isn't entirely jaded. She maintains a healthy level of respect for people who impress her. If she sees someone pull off a good shot, she freely compliments them. It's this that shows Nisha knows how to have fun in her fights--and she fights a lot. Nisha's managed to survive countless attempts on her life, so she's managed to make a name for herself and she's done more than survive. She thrives on Pandora, where pretty much anything wants to kill you. Nisha's not the sheriff of Lynchwood for nothing, after all. She's a go-getter; she gets things done, and she gets things done on her time and how she wants. And even when she dies during her showdown with the Vault Hunter... she compliments them on a job well done.

Nisha's not entirely heartless. In regards to her relationship with Jack, she genuinely loves him. So Nisha's not a coldblooded killer to everyone, just... mostly everyone. His crazy matches her crazy, and it's surprisingly a flawless match. They may be complete psychopaths, but honestly? They really do love each other. As twisted as they are, they make each other happy. While a lot of their relationship isn't shown post-Pre Sequel, obviously, they've been together for quite some time. Nisha is the one who's stuck with Jack, out of loyalty and love for him. However, Jack is absolutely pissed at the Vault Hunter for killing his girlfriend, as he tells them over the ECHO. Clearly, they spent a lot of time together; Jack gave Nisha Lynchwood as their anniversary present, after all. And she seems pretty proud when she refers to Jack as her boyfriend. However, she doesn't want to sit up in Jack's "ivory towers"--she'd rather have action in Pandora.

Nisha isn't the touchy-feely type of person; she's got a cruel streak hundreds of thousands of miles long. Nisha isn't the type of person you'd want to leave with your kids, then. Just as she thrives on Pandora, she thrives on others' misery and tragedy. She openly laughs at one of the other player characters when it's revealed that the character was tricked into killing a family member. Nisha didn't have the type of warm, loving family environment most kids should have. Then again... Nisha likes being sadistic and the way she is because it's fun. And that's a pretty dangerous woman to cross. So there's no real excuse or tragic backstory that explains Nisha's personality; she just... likes being cruel. And terrible. When faced with "robot genocide," Nisha is absolutely for it. She treats it like a present Jack's given to her, wrapped up with a pretty little ribbon. Similarly, Nisha has no concept of sympathy. When fellow Vault Hunter Athena reveals that she killed her own sister, Nisha straight up laughs at her. Murder is funny, after all, and it's Nisha's idea of a fun time.

Nisha takes absolutely no excuses. There's little room for forgiveness; all crimes are equal in her eyes, mostly because she loves killing. And as a sheriff, that's probably not the type of trait you want to see. Nisha's concept of mercy is completely nonexistent, and if you cross her, prepared to be in her crosshairs. When entering Lynchwood, you can see the bodies of people who have wronged her--she puts them out on display. Nisha's actually so terrifying that it scares those who work for her, including her deputy. Nisha even proudly talks about her murders, even the worst ones; she even mentions that "children are accomplices" and that she'll "be coming for them next." So... never leave Nisha with children.

Finally, Nisha Kadam is relaxed, even amiable, when she's not bored. She jokes around freely with whoever's nearby, and takes things less seriously. Unfortunately, when she gets bored, that's when she becomes even more dangerous. Nisha dislikes being bored, hates it even; many of her idle lines in the Pre-Sequel! involve her asking why she isn't killing, or even more masochistic, why she isn't being shot at. Nisha's motivations center around the next big thrill. Elpis is one thing--there are plenty of bandits to kill, but down on Pandora in Lynchwood, it's not so easy. Thus, when Nisha gets bored, she starts hanging people. Of course, as sheriff, she can't go around hanging people willy-nilly. So she makes up laws. Over two hundred of them, in fact. Nisha proudly displays these bodies, too; they're practically her trophies, and anyone who attempts to cut them down will face the other end of Nisha's gun.

[ So, here's Nisha fiddling with her gear. First time using it, and the thing's a little more outdated than she's used to. It's not too difficult, at least, just different. She's got a hell of a sour look on her face, though. ]

Okay, the lizard I ended up with? Awesome. Pretty much everything else in this ass-backwards shithole of a place?

[ Nisha pans the camera over her shoulder, where there's a group of Growlithe frolicking around. Cute, right? Maybe normal people think so. Unfortunately, Nisha hates the things. ]

The worst. What the hell is wrong with all these stupid animals? One keeps following me around and I'm not in the mood to deal with a dumbass dog.

[ And she turns the camera downward, to an exceptionally fat and drool-y Growlithe. ]

Anyone want a free pet? While it's cute to I guess most of you guys, it's not my first choice for a partner. These kinda types are fun and all, if you're setting people on fire, but me? I prefer something more... fun. Poison types, now there's something worth raising. Might be a little difficult for some, but raise 'em right, and you've got a deadly weapon in your arsenal. 'Cause they don't hit hard at first, but that poison?

[ Here, a grin stretches across her lips. ]

A bitch to handle, especially when you're not prepared.

And that's how I like to run things.

    Play-Through Information

    Original Character Background:
While not necessarily mute, it is implied through various entries in Zelda's journal that Link has taken something of a vow of silence so he can better focus on what his ultimate goal is. Memory-loss Link probably wouldn't be as inclined to follow such a thing but given that the version I'll be playing does have some of his memories regained, he is going to be quiet more often than not. Anything he can convey through body language will be done that way and text will be his preferred option on the network. Eventually he may decide to be vocal, once he's more comfortable, but for now he's going to just let everyone think he's mute.

    Personality:
Prior to his injury and being asleep for 100 years, Link was a very dedicated and very focused individual. He carried the weight of his fate proudly and didn't hesitate to do his job no matter who tried to stop him or what got in his way. He was a quiet soul that followed the Princess obediently, even when she didn't want him to, and knew that his soul purpose in all of what was going on with Ganon was to keep the princess safe, wield the Master Sword and seal the darkness.

A lot of those aspects are still there, just lost like the majority of his memories.

After waking from his 100 year nap, Link was more relaxed and his curiosity about everything shows itself more. He doesn't hesitate to explore and seems to have a knack for getting himself into trouble because of this constant urge. That doesn't mean he isn't aware that he has a job to do; he's just using more unconventional means to accomplish most of them. (Oh he needs to get through that forest? He's going to climb every tree to do it. There's a field full of enemies after him? Burn the grass to take them out!)

He's a brave little soul who doesn't seem to be scared of anything, climbing any mountain that gets in his way and fighting any enemy that decides to attack him even if he has to do it with a mop. If there's a way to accomplish a goal Link will find it no matter the injuries he has to get in the process. There's very little that makes him balk and when those moments do happen, you know it's probably something pretty terrible. He's got a very strong will that doesn't wain and will push himself until he absolutely cannot stand up anymore.

While definitely brave and outgoing, Link is a bit on the bashful side, easily flustered when complimented and not really knowing how to handle affection directed at him. (He's talking to you, Great Fairies.) He's a gentle soul at his core and deeply cares about others and their wellbeing, always looking out for others before himself. (Though every now and then he does get a bit selfish, buying himself something that he wants even if it's not something he necessarily needs.)

The easiest way to piss Link off is to hurt people around him. It doesn't even have to be one of his friends; hurt someone, anyone, and he'll jump to their defense and take you out before you can even blink. (Kids and animals especially. Don't harm them unless you want a good beating.) Frustration is something Link has become good friends with as of late and it does stem from prior to his 100 year nap. He gets frustrated in himself and his ability to do what needs to be done and gets extremely frustrated when he can't accomplish a task that seems like it should be really simple. Link can be very hard on himself despite the memory loss because he knows there's a lot riding on him.

The newest thing that Link's had to learn to deal with is the feeling of loss. Of uncertainty. The people he was suppose to help protect died 100 years ago while he survived to try again. He failed them and bears that weight heavily. The last thing he wants to do is fail again when there's so much more at stake now but there's a looming cloud of doubt over his head. It doesn't stop him from doing what needs to be done but every now and then, when he stops moving and stops fighting, it hits him and he has to push himself to move past it.

Having caught the ferry out to the islands Link had found himself in a bit of a paradise. He'd been told that some of the islands weren't quite as tropical but this one? This one was pretty great and the sun felt so warm. It reminded him of one of the coastal villages he had visited back home on occasion and while there was a degree of homesickness that came with that thought it was easy enough to move past. For now.

Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, Link smiled to himself before looking down at his companion. His Buizel let out a happy little noise, bouncing on it's back paws only to take off as soon as it's trainer motioned for it to go. Said trainer let out a huff of a laugh before following after the rambunctious Pokemon, letting out his other two Pokemon in the process.

His Petilil twilled softly and bobbed about in the sand while his Emolga let out a delighted squeak and took off after the Buizel. It immediately tackled the otter Pokemon with a quick glide and the two went rolling through the sand, chattering up a storm.

Link could only shake his head in amusement, pausing long enough to scoop his Petilil up before continuing on down the beach. There were a few other people wandering about and Link waved at each one he passed, smiling sheepishly when an older woman complimented his Pokemon and gesturing to her Alola Persian and giving a bright smile. She had chuckled and thanked him for the compliment before continuing on, giving Link a chance to catch up with his rowdy pair.

His Petilil twilled again and Link laughed softly, tapping her head before beaming.

    Time for an adventure indeed!

    Timeline:
Canon Resource Links: Well yes, Link is rather resourceful, but it's unclear how giving him a canon will be of assistance... Oh, right. Sidon on the Zelda Wiki

    Personality:
Sidon is something of a young gun. His personality contradicts itself a bit if only because he can go from being the most upbeat, positive person around to a bit of a pushy, headstrong sort of fellow.

    Let me explain.

As prince of the Zora, Sidon is definitely the type to put others first. He looks out for his people and always has their best interests in mind. Their well-being is his main priority and he's willing to go to whatever lengths necessary to keep them safe and happy. (Including sending scouts out to find him a Hylian but we'll discuss that in a bit.) He knows that many of the other Zora look up to him and respect him and takes that into consideration with everything he does/plans to do.

He can be one of the most humble and thoughtful people you will ever meet. Seriously. This guy is the embodiment of encouragement and boosting the morale of others. He's always got a good word for those around him and tries to keep things as positive as he can all the time. Feeling down? Allow him to strike a pose and remind you of all the ways that you are awesome! Each and every being living in the Zora domain is important in Sidon's eyes and he will make sure they are all well aware of it. He's always willing to help others no matter what the task may entail. Let him help you, friend! It's his pleasure!

Now, that being said, Sidon can be a little headstrong at the same time. Once he gets an idea he wants to see it through and will go to some rather extreme lengths to do so. Remember that bit I mentioned about sending scouts out to find a Hylian? He legitimately sent out scouts to find him any Hylian they could in order to send said Hylian to the Divine Beast because hey the electricity wouldn't hurt them as badly! It didn't matter who the Hylian was they just needed to find him a Hylian. (Luckily it turned out to be Link that the others found but..still.) His desire to make life for his people as great as possible drives him to act before fully thinking things through sometimes but not so much that anyone gets put in harm's way. Thankfully.

Living in his sister's shadow, Sidon has some pretty big fins to fill. His sister was the champion of their people, and Sidon wants to make her and their father proud; wants to be just as good as his sister. He doesn't hold any ill will towards Mipha. It's not out of jealousy that he wants to be the best he can be. He simply wants to do justice for their family and uphold the honor his sister had already put into place for them and their people. Sometimes he worries that he's not living up to her memory well enough which simply drives him to try even harder.

It's possible that Mipha's memory is what keeps his ego at bay, considering how many of those around him try to stroke it. He's considered the most handsome of Zora, and is a hero to a local village. His great deeds are immortalized on a stone tablet in the Zora domain. Does that make him boastful? Hardly. When he's praised by his father for his successful plan, Sidon bows his head humbly and says his thanks to his father. He only voices his own praises for his abilities in the water. Otherwise, Sidon is more than content to boost others before himself. As his father says, one day he will make an excellent king.

There was none of that here, but new sounds greeted him as he strolled along. He was alone, his pokemon nestled safely in its ball so he could enjoy quiet contemplation. The sun had just set through the trees, the soft glow still keeping the sky from the darkness of night, and a chorus of insects replaced the usual sounds of water that Sidon was so familiar with. Somehow their songs made him sadder than he should at the lack of familiarity.

A breeze kicked up, gentle at first, then a bit stronger and whipped his wide-brimmed hat from his head. "Oh!" the former Zora exclaimed, reaching and grasping at the air where the article had been just a moment too late as it flew off into the tall grass he'd been avoiding. This evening he'd intended to avoid it, to simply have a relaxing walk with no battle or conflict of any time, but he did so love that hat... And so through the tall grass he waded in search of it.

"What's this?" he asked no one in particular as his hat seemed to come walking back to him, the brim just brushing over the tops of the blades of grass. A most peculiar sight, to be sure. It caused the prince pause in his tracks as he watched, and soon a voice reached his ears.

"Phan!" It chirped happily as the hat came to a stop just before him. Cautiously, Sidon accepted the hat and was met with the sight of a small blue elephant, the very creature that had brought the item back to him. It felt to Sidon as though he'd been struck with a lightning arrow as he gazed upon the creature and it looked back at him with no expectation, only pride that it had done well.

"You... Returned my hat to me," he stated obviously, kneeling before the thing to place a hand on its head in thanks. It nuzzled eagerly into the hand and chirped happily once more before rubbing against Sidon's knee. It was fate, he knew, that this should be what brought back his treasured item. "Then... Will you accompany me? I would call you... Ruta." The phanpy accepted with excitement, bouncing on its front feet twice and trumpeting softly in approval. His second pokemon, Sidon thought to himself. Mipha would be proud.

    Personality:

(Due to his limited role in his own movie, some of these details have to pull from headcanon. I will attribute everything to canon to the best of my ability.)

Alfons is a bit of an odd duck, as far as characters ago. On the surface, we're meant to take a few things, as viewers:

As an alternative version of Al, he is expected to carry on several of his personality traits, including his patience, kind heart, and thoughtful nature. And as we see in canon, this is accurate: He is a self-sacrificing person who is willing to give to others who are less fortunate. He gives Ed, his roommate and friend, a place to stay after his father disappears to God-knows-where, and he takes in a beleaguered Roma girl after she was accosted by the very people who are hiring him to do rocket research. He's also pleasant to be around, easy to get along with, and tries not to rock the boat whenever possible.

On the other hand, he also stands out from Al in various ways: unlike his Amestris counterpart, Alfons is a very passive person. He does not take an active role in things, preferring instead to go with the flow and see what happens (unless it comes to his work, but I'll get to that). He also does not come off as particularly masculine, especially for a man of his time, where traditional rugged masculinity was held at a premium. Even in the worst situations, he keeps his calm, thinks things through (even has a dry sense of humor when he wants to, though that was ONE LINE in the entire movie) and isn't one to be aggressive, or quick to anger. In fact, one could almost call him 'boring' if they only knew that much about him.

In the roleplay biz, we call him a "cinnamon roll", too pure for this world.

And too pure is right, because at an undisclosed time, he was diagnosed with a lung condition that was slowly killing him from the inside. This drove him professionally, bringing other traits closer to the forefront: his stubborn drive to succeed, single-mindedness that bordered on selfishness, and a dedication to his work that...well, speaks for itself. Why else would someone keep doing something that is clearly killing them unless they're dedicated to it?

Well, that, and has an almost all-consuming fear of being forgotten. Why? Canon never says, so I'll have to dive into headcanon for this if it ever gets brought up. But it drives what he does, to where he doesn't mind getting asked by the Obviously Shady Organization (AKA "The Thule Society") to do rocket research for them and help them with their super secret projects. He carries no hint of agreeing with anything they believe in, or even buying into their actual rhetoric, he just didn't mind bending his principles at the time to fulfill a goal; that said, since he is post-CoS, he has a bit more of an issue with that now. He may not have seen the amount of carnage on the other side of the gate that his research wrought, but he'd seen enough to realize that doing what was right was more important.

That doesn't stop him from carrying baggage related to that ticking clock that he was living with: a strong sense of his own mortality, frustration at those he thinks is diminishing the importance of his existence (hi, Ed), and a sort of bitterness towards his own fate.

Not that he'd tell anyone. Even though Ed was closer to him than...well, anyone else in the movie (not that we find out anything about him. Does he have a mother? A father? Siblings? NOBODY KNOWS! Make your own headcanons about it! Which I will have to do for the sake of completeness), he never told him how sick he was. Alfons keeps everything negative to himself to the point of his own detriment, and suffers from having a desire not to rock the boat greater than his need to communicate his own feelings.

Clearly, communicating clearly and honestly is not his strong suit. At least, not when it comes to his feelings. Seeing as he is a part of a team of researchers, who he works closely with, one must surmise that he can not only communicate his feelings on his work (which is rocket science, a culmination of math, physics, and other disciplines into an explosive cocktail of complexity that few can master at a late age, much less at Alfons's age), but does it clearly and with enthusiasm. In fact, his happiest moments are when he's with his fellow researchers (when he's not moping after Ed, anyway). He clearly loves not only his work, but the science attached to them. Science, machines, and other mathematical subjects are strong draws for Alfons, and a good science problem will keep him occupied if you need something to shut him up for a while.

And yet, being from a tumultuous period in history, he carries a lot of the baggage that came along with that, too: a deep love of country, but a bitterness towards politics. He clearly keeps up with the state of things, as he reads the newspaper every night as a routine, but keeps himself out of the larger debate whenever possible, speaking in hypotheticals instead of truly voicing his own opinion unless pushed. His passive and logical personality kept him from getting engrossed in populist politics, but he's clearly frustrated with the direction his nation has taken.

Did he side with the Nazis, who were trying to usurp control? Did he side with the Kaiser?

NOBODY KNOWS! The anime never makes it clear, nor does any extra material. With context, one can argue that he didn't side with either, and was more frustrated with the suffering people than taking a particular political side outside of "Britain and France were dicks for sticking us with the Treaty of Versailles". For the sake of completeness, this is the side I'm taking with him in the game, though canon does lean towards him not wanting to side with Nazis.

Canon ALSO leans towards him having a bit of a racism problem. He's not the sort of racist who would lock their windows because a black person pulled up next to him, but rather the sort of racist who would ask black people about their fried chicken recipes, "because that's a cultural dish, isn't it?" Well-meaning, but ignorant. Thankfully, he has the sense to keep a lot of that to himself.  In this front, he's straight up progressive for his time, but he is still a product of the 20's.

Thankfully, he's a fast learner, and adapts quickly.

After all, that's what made him a great scientist, right?

    Character
    Name: Hanako Ikezawa
    Series: Katawa Shoujo
    Timeline: End of Lilly's Route.
    Canon Resource Links: KS wiki

Personality: Hanako is an extremely reclusive and quiet girl, who seems to be afraid of other people to the point that she will panic from most social contact. This is mainly due to her appearance. As a child, she barely survived a fire that killed the rest of her family that left her horribly scarred both physically and emotionally. She is very self-conscious about her appearance, often covering her scars with her hand or a hat. If she's being stared at, she becomes extremely nervous, and will leave the area in search of a place where she can be alone or with someone she trusts.

In addition to her fear of others, she hates herself deep down, blaming herself for her parents' deaths. She's prone to panic attacks when cornered or certain things are brought up - especially her birthday, as the accident that killed her family happened on her birthday. One thing she despises the most is being treated as weak. She doesn't like to be reminded that she's broken, especially from people she's trusted. Hanako finds it very hard to trust people, due to her own psyche and the fact that others have always seemed to stare, make fun of or bully her due to her appearance. While difficult to gain her trust at first, once you manage to get close to her, she's a loyal friend.

Although Hanako shies away from contact with others, there are things she enjoys, which are the few times when she rarely smiles and opens up a little. She spends most of her time in the school library reading, and when feeling stressed will often skip class to sit in a back corner and read. She also has a slightly competitive side, shown when she plays chess or other games. She also spends time having tea on a regular basis, and sometimes even likes to try and cook, although it's suggested that her forays into the kitchen don't always go well.

Hanako is very soft spoken, and people often have a hard time hearing her. She tends to think a lot about what she's going to say, as if she's afraid she'll mess up, although she does stutter often. When she's relaxed, she doesn't stutter as much, but it increases when she's stressed, and her whole body becomes visibly rigid and she may begin to shake. By the end of Lilly's route in canon, Hanako's mellowed out slightly, and has actually improved on her social skills, having made a small number of friends on her own.

[...well, it seemed like she was stuck here. Hanako let out a resigned sigh as she slumped against a tree near the edge of town, closing her eyes. She'd been torn away from her friends and the few save havens she knew. From what she'd been told though, this place wasn't so bad, and she wasn't the only one who'd been in this predicament. She couldn't help but wonder exactly how she'd arrived here, or what was going on back at Yamaku.

She didn't even question the ever-present music that could be heard. If anything, it was...kind of soothing, in a way. Hanako needed to sit back and relax, take a breather. If this was just a dream, she'd surely wake up. If not, well...she'd figure it out. Starting with trying to befriend 'her' Pokémon. The Mimkyu had been keeping its distance since she'd first spotted it, both of them seemingly afraid of the other. From the few glances she'd caught of the odd creature though, it was kind of cute. Now, it was peeking out from behind another tree, watching her cautiously.]

H-hello... [...and it ducks back behind cover. Hanako could relate.]

    It's okay...I d-don't want to hurt you.

[She tried to keep her words soft and comforting, but she still couldn't help the stutter. Her nerves were still pretty shot. At least she was trying.]

    Wiki Article

    Personality:
He is beauty, is he grace. He’ll probably punch you in the face.

In appearance he has always been the picture of beauty. Something he takes pride in, that perfection he brings to the ice. The problem in his personality off the ice. He has an attitude problem to end all attitude problems, with a short fuse and a mouth to spout off the fireworks going off in his head.

Yuri has a foul mouth. Quite rude as well, without care of someone’s age in relation to his own. He dismisses those he deems lesser which.. To be honest he deems most people lesser.

He’s hyper critical of himself. A perfectionist who demands the most of everything he does. He’s confident in his abilities. He despises being underestimated, but unfortunately this confidence comes off as arrogance to most. The fact that he is capable of backing it up doesn’t seem to matter as much when he’s off the ice being an asshole.

Sometimes, he seems to take things like training with a lack of care. When he wants to succeed though it’s the opposite. He takes hard work seriously, without complaint, with the full focus and desire of defeating his ‘enemies’. His enemies being anyone considered a rival which is anyone trying to do what he’s doing better than how he’s doing it.

In private, with his grandfather or friends close enough to him though he shows a softer side. A happier side. He has his laughter and good spirits and expresses his worries and concerns with far more ease. The stresses of skating, of competing and all of it for the sake of his family leave their lasting effects on his outward personality but these private moments give him that happiness.

Yuri was a gold medal winning skater. He was the top of everything that he did, ever. So that meant even in this world he intended on being the top. He knew that it was going to take awhile and that it would be hard work, everything was when you were trying to be perfect.

This.. was not exactly how he expected it to be going though.

    “This. is. Disgusting!”

Potya, his Glameow was hissing wildly, attached to his head. She was trying to get as far away from the offending Grimers as possible. They were clinging to Yuri’s legs, refusing to let go.

Why? Well, probably the Poffins that Potya had. They were all reaching up towards her and Yuri was trying to drag himself away from them. It was only resulting in deeper stains on his pants and an angrier Glameow digging into his head.

“Come on!! Give them the damn poffins, its not like I can’t get you more!”

Potya hissed at him and smacked her trainer on the face. Absolutely not! These were rightfully hers and she wouldn’t let some nasty blobs take it!

Griiimerrrr….” A long goopy arm reaches up, swiping at the hanging back of Poffins. Potya jerks her head up, the poffins flying out of her mouth.

She lets out a screech and leaps after them. That meant rebounding off Yuri’s face. All the Grimers turned, watching the bag flying and---

Snatched out of the air by a a Spearow.

Potya lands, staring after the bird, fur fluffed and screaming. Off she goes. The Grimers follow quickly, leaving Yuri standing there, soaked from the thighs down in .. you know what, Yuri didn’t want to know.

    Character
    Name: Princess Anna of Arendelle
    Series: Frozen
    Timeline: End of Frozen Fever.
    Canon Resource Links: wiki link!

    Personality:
Rarely does one come across a princess as down-to-Earth as Anna of Arendelle, but she's the honest goods. Raised without much of the pomp and circumstance that normally comes along with being raised as royalty, Anna spent most of her time growing up alone, wandering the castle that was perpetually empty thanks to the closed gates. As such, she's fiercely independent and willing to take matters into her own hands, but also lacks the imperiousness or superiority complex of your typical royalty, which charms and endears her to her subjects. Take, for example, her sister Elsa's escape from Arendelle following her outburst. Instead of seeking help or even asking others to help her, Anna doesn't hesitate in asking for her horse and riding off to find Elsa herself, but not without making sure her people were taken care of first, and provided with warm food and blankets. While this may not have been the wisest decision, it was what she believed was right, and Anna refused to leave such an important task to anyone else. This showcases perfectly her rather headstrong disposition. She's stubborn and she follows her heart, even if it means ending up in a snowdrift or two, and a large proportion of the decisions she makes are based mostly on impulse instead of rational thought and weighing any pros and cons.

Anna is a very passionate person. She throws herself into everything a hundred percent, even if that's a hundred percent wrong. See: getting engaged to a man she met that day. It isn't the smartest decision, but Anna only wanted to be noticed and loved by someone. She was ready to do anything if it meant receiving positive attention. After being isolated from her older sister for most of her life and losing her parents at age thirteen, she lost her common sense somewhat when it comes to other people, which means she does things like get engaged to a man she just met that day. She’s hungry for even the slightest bit of attention or affection, and even small acts are enough to please her, if just for a little while. Above all, she's motivated by a need for love, whether it be romantic, platonic, or ultimately, sisterly.

On a more lighthearted note, Anna is bubbly, quirky, and has a good sense of humor that probably arose from spending so much time amusing herself with little company as a kid. She's energetic, shown riding her bike around the castle, running and jumping and acting not-quite-ladylike. Though she's sweet, she also is unsure of herself, and has a bad habit of causing trouble not only for herself, but for others, too. Arendelle lives in a state of half-amused fear at the havoc her shenanigans often wreak. She's also very awkward, her babbling and propensity for misunderstandings resulting in a lot of "wait, what?" moments, but she also can move past awkward moments quickly without being outwardly self-conscious about it. As a cover for a whole lot of underlying insecurity, she's relentlessly optimistic, and sometimes that gets in the way of being able to correctly identify the correct course of action or assess the situation.

What isn't readily apparent to most is that the princess is very insecure, constantly feeling like she's done something to deserve the emotional pain she's experienced. She even asks Elsa at one point, "What did I ever do to you?" Even though none of it was her doing, it's clear that she somehow feels at fault for her sister's isolation. On the other hand, Anna is shown to be incredibly loyal, and is motivated by her desire to save the day, to make things right, especially when she feels at fault. In a deleted scene, Anna chases a pig through the marketplace and wreaks havoc, but apologizes profusely to the villagers of Arendelle and promises that she'll make things right and replace everything she destroyed in the wake of her chase. She wants to be liked more than she needs to be respected, and above all she needs to be noticed.

Anna hasn't been to a festival, ever, in her entire life, so the idea of being able to attend a festival here in Johto is absolutely thrilling. As she strolls between rows of stalls, her Shroomish trundling along beside her, the princess can't help but give in to the urge to skip a little, light on her feet as always. There are so many people—so many new things to see and hear and eat that it's almost overwhelming. But at last she finds something that sticks out to her even more than all the sweet treats and flowers and interesting people: a test of strength. Anna perks up and leads Shroomish over to the man holding the mallet and shouting over the crowd, and digs in her bag for the right amount of money required to take her turn. The man gives her a dubious glance, but she just gives him a confident grin.

"Aw, come on. I'm paying you, you can at least let me try!"

That seems to amuse the man, but he shrugs and laughs and hands over the mallet; Anna takes it and only sways a little bit with the unexpected weight imbalance. She laughs, adjusts it in her hands and takes a firm grip, shifting her stance a little wider and approaching the target. "Okay. So I need to hit this as hard as I can, right? And then I win a prize? Easy!"

The man just snorts and steps aside. It's clear he's not expecting a tiny girl like Anna to be anything approaching successful, but it's like she said—she's a paying customer. She can at least take her shot.

The thing is, for someone who's five-foot-nothing, Anna has always been surprisingly strong. "Stand back," she tells her Shroomish; the Pokémon waddles backward a little bit, albeit grumpily. Once she's clear, Anna takes a big, deep breath and swings the mallet up over her head, bringing it down on the target with all her might. The shuttle leaps up, and although it doesn't make it all the way up to the bell, it's awfully close, and Anna grins breathlessly at the sight of the operator's face, which is frozen in surprise.

"See? Told you I could do it!" Anna crosses her arms, looking immensely satisfied with herself. "Do I win anything?"

The look of joy on her face as the man hands her a Snorlax plush the size of her whole torso could possibly light up the entire festival.

    Name: Queen Elsa
    Series: Frozen
    Timeline: Post canon
Canon Resource Links: Her wiki link"

    Original Character Background: N/A

Personality: The first word to describe Elsa would probably be elusive. She's rarely seen, keeping herself out of sight whenever possible. On the occasion she's in public, Elsa appears to be calm and collected. Regal. Mysterious. A touch unapproachable, if one is being honest, but easily brushed off as her remaining impartial. No one would realize that she's harboring a lot of anxiety and fear on the inside.

This all stems from the fact that her powers are easy to lose control of. "Conceal, don't feel. Don't let it show." is what Elsa has always been told to do and are the words she lives by daily. Growing up, she was taught to fear and hate her powers, which only increased her anxiety throughout the years. It became a way of life, a mantra in order to remain calm and in control. As she grew up, she learned to fear her emotions simply because they could cause bad things- but more on that later.

On her own, issues aside, Elsa has a good head on her shoulders. She's smart and logical and down to earth; when Anna asked for blessing to marry Hans, Elsa put her foot down and refused to give her blessing on the grounds of Anna only having just met him. She doesn't believe in rushing head first into things and acting on impulse, probably brought on by restraining herself all throughout the years. She couldn't support such an irrational, spontaneous decision and instantly dismissed it as ridiculous.

Her relationship with her sister is a very strained one. Ever since their accident, she's avoided Anna to keep her safe. The entire time, though it pained her, she never told Anna the truth about why she was doing this for her own safety. When the two of them were finally in a room together for the first time, it was almost easy for Elsa to want to let the wall down. Friendly and joking with Anna, it's like they were never separated. Elsa lightens up, laughs with Anna and genuinely acts happy. Because at the end of the day, she loves Anna more than anything and is doing everything to protect her.

When Anna starts pressuring, Elsa immediately closes herself off and puts up all of her walls. That's one thing Elsa isn't good at dealing with, and that's pressure and confrontation. It only leads to fear, and fear is a loss of control, which she can't afford to have.

That's what it all really boils down to for Elsa- fear. Her life is ruled by it and she spends all of her life trying to avoid anything that might make her lose control. Ever since she accidentally hurt Anna as kids, she's lived in constant fear of her powers. From a young age she's been taught to hide her powers and to control herself, so that she doesn't hurt anyone else. It really did a number on her over the years.

So when it comes out that she has powers, she's extremely quick to jump ship and run away, both to be free and to protect everyone- especially Anna. She isolates herself in the mountains of her own free will without looking back, feeling like it's the best solution for everyone involved. She's so set on this opinion, she turns Anna away and sics a large, aggressive snowman on her to chase Anna away. She's serious about being alone.

But once she learns the secret of controlling her powers, Elsa's life becomes considerably less miserable. She doesn't feel like a monster anymore, no one hates her and she isn't a danger. She no longer feels the need to run away or hide. It opens up her life in ways she's never seen, and she becomes much more fun loving, approachable and almost as silly and spontaneous as Anna.

And just in case that isn't quite enough, I wrote a sample:

The last few weeks have been somewhat of a wild ride- but Elsa's somehow managed to keep her wits about her in spite of it. It isn't every day you get pulled from your world, after all. But in a way, it's almost felt like a vacation, after the initial shock. Of course she'd been accepted by everyone in Arendelle, but it was a different store being somewhere no one knew of her struggles.

That's not to say she doesn't miss Arendelle, though. In fact, she occasionally likes to talk to her vulpix about it- she's never had a pet before, but Elsa had bonded quickly with her. Vulpix is a calm presence in an otherwise choatic world, and Elsa enjoys spending time with her, educating her on all she's missing out on in Arendelle.

"You would love roaming the halls of the castle," Elsa says gently, stroking Vulpix softly as she dozes in Elsa's lap on the park bench they're sitting on. Children are playing, Pokemon are scurrying around and trainers are passing by as Elsa watches from afar. "There's plenty of room to stretch your legs and play- oh, I wish you could see it." Elsa sounds wistful, almost sad, but at the same time she doesn't mind being here.

Once more, she looks out across the park, just... letting herself enjoy the atmosphere. It's not something she used to be able to do, but as of late it's easier to just take a moment to enjoy things and be happy, rather than stressed like she used to be. In a way, it's the same feeling she had when she'd run off into the mountains, except this happiness isn't brought on by isolation.

She's fitting in and enjoying it and it's honestly just... lovely.

Vulpix lets out a low, sleepy sound stretching in her lap and peering up sleepily at her trainer, before hopping daintily down to the ground. Elsa lets out a small laugh, before standing up as well. "Speaking of stretching your legs, I suppose we should head back. Anna is probably wondering where we are." Vulpix nods, and the two of them start the walk through the park back to where they're staying.

    Name: Izuku “Deku” Midoriya
    Series: My Hero Academia
Timeline: Right after the first day of school in episode 33.
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki link

Personality: Izuku, at first glance, does not look like the type to become a hero. He’s timid and polite, someone that doesn’t really stand out and is prone to nervous muttering as he begins overthinking something or other. As a person with no powers in a world where 80% of the population has some form of super power, he has developed a rather significant inferiority complex, as he’s never allowed to forget that, especially in light of his aspirations to be a hero. In addition to that, the relentless and brutal bullying of his childhood friend Bakugou has made him nervous and jumpy when addressed harshly or even directly. This can make him react to things in a over the top manner with nervous laughs and distressed screams.

There is, of course, more to Izuku than this. Even before he inherits his power, he has a very analytical mind, and is capable of analyzing and breaking down things such as the powers of superheroes as well as the uses and weaknesses of their powers, including strategies to use even when he’s powerless. Once he develops his powers and enrolls in the hero high school, he begins showing the beginnings of leadership skills. On the negative, however, Izuku has an impulsive and even bullheaded side, who will jump into dangerous situations that he’s possibly not quite ready for, simply because it’s the right thing to do and because it’s the type of hero he wants to be, someone who becomes a symbol of peace. The fact this can often lead to him breaking a limb or two in the process is often seen as a fair price, even if he recognizes that it’s a high price to pay with possible long term consequences and works to fix it.

    Name: Prompto Argentum
    Series: Final Fantasy XV
Timeline: Chapter 13; the guys found Prompto and we've had the cute dorm scene from the end of Episode Prompto ("Ever by your side") but Noctis hasn't been sucked into the Crystal yet.
    Canon Resource Links: Wikia

    Personality:

Prompto Argentum is extremely loyal to those he cares about and has unrivaled determination when it comes to reaching his goals. These traits are often hidden beneath his playful, jovial attitude as he does his best to make nice with potential new friends and ensure his current friends are smiling and laughing as much as possible.

He often uses jokes to mask his own insecurities and anxieties, but they can still be seen sometimes when he seeks reassurance or validation in hushed one-on-one talks with his best friend. He’ll face his fears without hesitation (but not without some whining) if it means his friends and he will succeed. Prompto will do whatever it takes to keep his friends safe and is always willing to lend a hand both in battle and at camp. He may not be a gourmet chef or wilderness expert, but he’s pretty eager to prove his usefulness to the group and he’s fairly handy with various types of technology and machinery.

He’s got a soft spot for animals and has been known to divert the group if it means helping an animal in distress. Prompto is a photography enthusiast and will also often ask to stop for snapshots at various locations and is willing to go the distance for the perfect shot. Photographs are his way of preserving happy times with good friends, something he holds on to tightly after growing up a lonely outcast.

The journey from overweight loner to best friends with Noctis, the Crown Prince, to sworn member of the Crownsguard hasn’t been easy for him. He worked hard to shape himself into someone who could belong; someone who deserves friends despite the secret he fears could rip them from him at any moment. He tries hiding from himself, keeping his worries bottled up inside and obscured by jokes and wide smiles, but eventually he is quite literally forced to come to terms with his past. Instead of letting it break him, Prompto, with the help of a kick in the pants from an enemy-turned-ally, takes the initial steps of accepting himself for exactly who he is regardless of where he came from.

Overall, Prompto is an excitable bundle of anxiety and nerves with a heart of gold. He values his friends’ happiness and well-being more than his own and will fight to both protect them and maintain his place among them.

    Strengths

Friendly (even though he’s a little shy and uncertain sometimes).

    Adaptable (though not without comment).

    Unfailingly loyal to his friends.

Steadfast in his determination to be the best Prompto he can be, both for himself and for the sake of those he cares about.

Adores animals, which means he’ll take extremely good care of his Pokemon.

    Weaknesses

Prone to self-doubt, due to a childhood of absent parents and knowledge of his origin as a clone of Verstael, the lead researcher for the Niflheim Empire, for the express purpose of becoming one of the Magitek soldiers.

Extremely anxious, due to teasing and bullying from peers in his youth.

Concerned about his weight and at times overly-sensitive to his looks, due to being an overweight kid who successfully lost weight but not without gaining stretch marks.

Prompto is a genetically engineered clone and him having a starter Pokemon that is genetically unstable and able to become one of multiple possible evolutions would be beneficial for him, almost like emotional support. It would also be cute and kind of badass for him to start with a Pokemon that doesn’t only evolve in one way, similar to how Prompto was born for one thing yet managed to become something entirely different simply by adapting to his surroundings and being himself.

    Character
    Name: Chloe Price
    Series: Life is Strange
    Timeline: Save-the-bay ending
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki link

    Personality:

All things considered, Chloe hasn't lived the easiest of lives. Because of this, she isn't easy to get along with, either. The two biggest factors in Chloe's life that sent it all spiraling downhill is the death of her dad as well as her best friend, Max, moving away shortly after. Without Max there to keep her from making bad decisions, Chloe inevitably closed herself off and started to act out in various way, which created a strain on her relationship with her mother and everyone else around her.

She's angry because her father died, she's angry because her mother married someone she doesn't get along with and she's angry because she's alone. Her unhappiness at home is a big part of what drives her down the path of recklessness. She's resentful that her mother remarried, much less to David Madsen of all people. She and David have an awful, antagonistic relationship and Chloe often refers to him as "stepdouche". She has no respect for him at all and actively antagonizes him whenever she gets the chance.

Her relationship with her mother is better though- she loves her mom, even if she's terrible at showing it and often causes her mother more grief than she intends. It's just hard, y'know, when you have so much anger and resentment build up. She tries to distance her mom from her shenanigans as much as possible, but when you get into as much trouble as Chloe does, it's not an easy feat.

On the outside, it all looks like typical teenage rebelliousness. Chloe likes to spend her free time drinking, smoking up or just generally having a good time, so she isn't angry or resentful all the time- in her down time, she enjoys music, going to concerts, having a good time and chilling with people. Some would say she can be funny, witty and overall a chill person to hang out with. She's just had the misfortune of falling in with the Wrong Crowd and as a result, she's gotten into some pretty bad situations.

She's been in trouble for vandalism, drug use, violence and theft and as a result she's been expelled from Blackwell Academy because of it; though her abysmal GPA of 1.7 probably had a lot to do with it as well- which is hilarious, because it's revealed in "Before The Storm" that she's actually good at science and potentially other subjects, she just doesn't give enough of a shit to go to school. So she's smart, it just doesn't necessarily show because she's too busy sticking it to the man.

There was one good thing about her going to Blackwell though; she met Rachel Amber. Rachel was essentially Chloe's rock and savior. It's stated by Chloe that Rachel saved her life, helped keep her from spiraling too far out of control. Rachel was there for her when no one else was, Chloe immediately felt a connection to her and for the longest time, Rachel was the only good thing in her life. For better and worse, she's had a large influence on Chloe's life right down to Chloe's signature "hella" that she picked up from Rachel.

Needless to say, Rachel disappearing really did a number on Chloe. It's made it hard for her to be optimistic or happy, she honestly feels lost without her, just the same she did with Max.

When Max comes back into her life, it's obvious from the start that despite how happy Chloe is to see her, she holds some anger and resentment towards her for leaving and not keeping in touch. They were best friends, after all. She's angry and hurt and she lets Max know, because she isn't the type to hide her anger or hold her tongue even when it comes to friends.

That's the one thing that drives people away from Chloe and gets her in trouble the most- her mouth. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, nor does she think through the ramifications of her actions or her words and she can be downright reckless. At a few points in the game, Max has to rewind time because Chloe has gotten herself in trouble, either physically or verbally because she's picked a fight when she shouldn't.

Don't think she doesn't love Max, though- as far as she's concerned, having Max back is the best thing to happen to her. For better or for worse, they both have each other's back. To get an idea of how much she cares for and values Max, it's revealed in "Before the Storm" that Chloe regularly wrote letters to Max that she wouldn't send, because she got tired of Max never writing her back. But in spite of that, she'd always said she would gladly welcome Max back without a second thought.

Chloe, for all of her faults, is a good friend. Once she cares about someone, there isn't anything she won't do for them- it's not an exaggeration to say she would kill for them. When finding out that Rachel's been murdered, Chloe is at first so grief stricken that she can't do anything but sob. When she recovers, she's out for blood and doesn't even think twice before she's rushing off to literally go kill the person she thinks is responsible for it. Chloe doesn't play around.

Adding to that, Chloe is resourceful and smart. It's with her help that they uncover the mystery behind Rachel's disappearance, and while she might not have the powers Max does, she's good at lying and convincing people when she needs to- or outright arguing with them, honestly. In "Before the Storm", it's often Chloe's talent at arguing that gets her what she wants. While it gets her in trouble, it also benefits her occasionally.

That's why it's good that she has Max in her life- Max keeps her from going overboard or doing anything too reckless, which Chloe sometimes takes for granted. She's always quick to encourage Max to use her powers, never once thinking of the consequences no matter how many times Max tries to tell her that they can't rely on them.

Over the course of the game, Chloe comes to realize just how much she cares about Max and how good she's been to her. It all comes to a head when they both realize that Chloe needs to die in order to set things right in Arcadia Bay. She selflessly accepts the fact and even admits to her wrongdoings, her shitty behavior towards her parents and shows remorse for it all. But above it all, she loves Max and doesn't want Max to ever forget her.

All in all, Chloe is unpredictable, wild, reckless, always ready to do stupid shit for fun or profit, occasionally selfish; the list goes on. She's just very much the type of person who relies on others a little too much, whether she realizes it or not. It's not that she's a bad person, she just makes a lot of mistakes.

[The feed clicks on and Chloe gives a thumbs up as greeting.]

Sup. So, uh- how's the weather been lately? Normal? Any freak storms? Animals acting weird? anyyy... tornados? Asking for a friend, she likes chasing storms.

[Yeah, that's totally believable. She's not asking because she's paranoid that the giant tornado from Arcadia Bay might have followed her here to exact it's revenge on her for, y'know, just existing. She can't help but think she got off easy, that it's going to realize she's in fact still alive, and just...

Ended up in the Pokemon world? Somehow? It's an easier thing for her to accept than it is for most people, considering the alternative was staring directly into that swirling vortex of doom. All things considered it could be worse. But she's waiting for the other shoe to drop.]

Also, how the hell am I supposed to get this loser from eating everything in sight?

[As she speaks, she points the camera at her starter, Munchlax, who's sitting on the ground chowing down on all the nuts and berries Chloe half-heartedly scrounged around for him. It won't leave her alone, so she feels obligated to take care of it.]

You know that friend who always says they aren't hungry but then asks if you're gonna finish your fries? He's that friend but on steroids. I don't share my fries with anybody.

[She sounds so exasperated as she points the camera back at herself.]

I named him Munchies, which didn't offend him as much as I wanted it to. Actually, I don't think he gives a shit.

    Character
    Name: Kazuki Hihara
    Series: La Corda d’Oro
    Timeline: Post Manga End
Canon Resource Links: Here’s the Wikipedia page. HOWEVER, this canon is super duper obscure and old to boot, so… here’s a full history, because you’re probably gonna need it.

Just a warning: Kazuki is from one of those canons that is ridiculously huge in Japan. He’s originally from an otome (male harem datesim) game that as of now has 6 iterations, all of which he is in, a manga adaptation, an anime adaptation of the manga adaptation, drama cds, live concerts… Like I said, ridiculous. I’m mainly taking him from the manga/anime but I have also played a few of the games and listened to drama cds so if it’s alright I might slip in happenings from them on occasion too. But it’ll still mostly be manga/anime since that’s the easiest to keep up with. The extra fluff is just that: Fluff. None of it changes his basic character. If this bother you just let me know, and I’ll reel back a bit.

Starting off with some basic information: La Corda d’Oro is a male harem game/manga/anime, in which Kazuki is one of the dateable characters. The plot revolves around the player character, adapted as Kahoko Hino in the manga/anime, receiving a magic violin from a fairy and then being forced to participate in her school’s music contest. The dateable boys in the series are all participants in said contest, and all play different instruments. Kazuki is a third year and plays the trumpet. His bff is Azuma Yunoki, who is in the same class as him and plays the flute.

Kazuki is one of those characters that is completely unburdened by any sort of sordid past. He has a mom and a dad and an older brother that are all nice adjusted people just as he is very nice and adjusted. His childhood was totally normal. He was very energetic and quite the athlete. In middle school he was the fastest runner on the track team. However, he never had much interest in competition. Not because he felt unchallenged or superior, just that he didn’t have the drive to be better than others. He lacked a competitive spirit. He just wanted to have fun!

It was at that time that he discovered the trumpet. An upperclassman played it, and he was mesmerized by the instrument. When he got his first chance to play it, he immediately fell in love. Instead of having to focus his concentration, he felt like he could be free and let all his energy out into song. He then quit the track team and joined the orchestra club. He stills likes sports a lot (especially basketball!), and jogs every morning, but now he doesn’t worry about competition anymore.

It was pretty late in Kazuki’s life to get into music, especially compared to all the other contestants (aside from Kahoko of course). As a result, his music isn’t quite as refined as the others. For example, he’s not very good at overly technical pieces. However, he has a very likeable and accessible style that takes advantage of his energetic nature. He also likes to play familiar songs, like pieces from soundtracks, so he has appeal with the non-classical music crowd as well. When he was announced to be a participant in the contest, he was very happy about it, although he never showed any real interest in winning. Again, it’s just a chance to have fun to him, and to introduce more people to the joys of music!

Fast forward to the time of the contest, where the manga starts. Kazuki’s story arc focuses very heavily on his infatuation with the heroine. Kazuki, at first, was very big-brotherly towards Kahoko. When she struggled with the violin at the beginning, he was the one that told her to relax and just go with it, because “music is supposed to be fun”! She was often thankful for his good cheer and kind words, and he helped her out of a few sticky situations. As they met and spoke more and more, he became more and more smitten; he liked her honest nature, her music, and her attention.

This is run of the mill, considering that this is an otome we are talking about and it’s inevitable that all the guys fall in love with her, duh. Kazuki only stood out in being the first to realize that he’d fallen in love with her. For a while this made him even more cheerful than he was regularly, which was impressive considering his already extremely upbeat nature. But things don’t go so well for Kazuki.

Because of her magic violin, Kahoko began to feel guilty about her participation in the contest. After all, the rest of the contestants were people that had studied music for a long time and really worked hard for what they have. She was obviously upset, and Kazuki noticed. He’s an emotional guy and people around him being upset makes him upset too, especially for someone that he likes so much. But instead of letting him help her like usual, she ran away. He realized then that he was not as important to her as he would have liked to be. Later, a pep talk from him did encourage her to continue with the contest, but it’s still not quite what he wanted. He wanted her attention and was losing out pretty badly to Len other contestants.

His depression affected his performance in the third round of the contest and he did tremendously badly. He just couldn’t play the trumpet when he wasn’t happy. To rub salt in the wound, Kahoko already felt better thanks to Len, so there was no excuse for Kazuki’s behavior other than jealousy. When she came to check on him after his poor performance, he had a hard time explaining himself to her, and mumbled to himself, “why can’t it be me?” She reached out to see if he was alright, and he gently hit her hand away then ran off in a fluster and apologies.

He then went to Azuma with the most obvious use of the “I have a friend” gambit ever known to man, and said that his “friend” messed up bad and wanted to apologize to the girl he likes, and wondered if he should just tell her how he feels. Azuma replied saying that telling her his feelings may make him feel better, but what about her? Did she really need that in her life? This of course confused our very simple Kazuki, and he had to take some time to work it all out in his head and his heart.

Later, he decided to try and practice his trumpet in the park. There, he ran into Kahoko. She suggested that they play together, but he was unsure of himself, and told her he wasn’t up to snuff these days. Noticing that he was feeling depressed, she reminded him of what he told her when they first spoke: “music is supposed to be fun”! Here he had an epiphany and realized he didn’t have to force his feelings on her. He should just be who he was, and have faith that someday she might find his feelings on her own, and accept him.

(She doesn’t. She picks Len, because he’s the default love interest. Poor Kazuki never had a chance.)

His next big story contribution has more to do with Azuma-- After the contest is over, Kazuki found out that Azuma wasn’t planning to continue with music as a career. This was because he’s from one of those crazy old families that is famous for flower arrangement and he’s the third son and has to support the family and blah blah blah that’s another story entirely. But this concerned Kazuki a lot, because despite Azuma’s cool appearance, Kazuki knew he loved the flute. They grew distant because Kazuki didn’t know what to do, and Azuma was avoiding him.

During this time, Kazuki accidentally became an idol.

    No, seriously.

His mother was asked by a co-worker to help out with a commercial shoot where they needed an amateur trumpet player. Kazuki didn’t want to, but she hassled him into it. At first they only meant to use his hands as he played, but the producer noticed that he was fucking adorable and a good fit visually, and suggested they use him for the full shoot. Easily bullied, Kazuki ended up being the model for the commercial. And of course, everyone saw it.

He got really popular at school, completely against his will. From this point on in the manga he spent half his time running the hell away from fangirls because they scared the crap out of him.

But this brought up the opportunity for him and Azuma to have another important encounter. After the commercial’s success, Kazuki was invited to go to an after party thrown by the producer, who turns out to be a cousin of Azuma. Azuma is there too of course, who had bullied Kahoko into coming with him. Azuma knew Kazuki would be there and since Azuma also knew Kazuki still had a raging crush on her, this was doing him a favor. At least, that’s what we’re led to believe. Azuma’s intentions are hardly ever clear.

Kazuki mentioned to the producer that Azuma is a friend of his, and he commented that Azuma had gone about his education in an undedicated manner by going to a school that concentrated on music. Kazuki loudly protested this, by saying that Azuma was wonderful, well liked by all, an amazing musician, and that there was no way all of that could be a waste. At the same time, Kahoko was trying to get Azuma to talk to Kazuki and make up, and Azuma overheard. He broke them up, and apologized to his cousin for Kazuki’s behavior, who apologized in turn for what he had said.

Azuma told Kazuki that he wasn’t sure about his future yet, but made up with him, saying that despite anything, he was glad that he was his friend. In the end, Azuma stood up to the matriarch of his family when he decided to continue on with his music education, and he winds up giving credit for this to both Kazuki and Kahoko.

That’s pretty much it… Nearly every detail of Kazuki’s part in Corda ever. He's kind a B-lister on the dateable boys roster, so he really doesn't get any more attention from the canon. as much as it saddens me.

How did he react to Kahoko confessing to Len, and vice versa? Unfortunately we don't really know. The manga and anime just kind of end there. However, I can't imagine him being terribly bereft over it. He matures a little over the course of the story, so I think he would just be happy that Kahoko is happy.

In the future, he plans to go to the Seisou affiliated college and become a music teacher! And this actually does happen, he shows up in Kiniro no Corda 3, a later installment of the game series, aged up as a teacher to the new player character. Hot. He is the sole character from the original cast to appear in later games.

    Name: Hans Westergard
    Series: Frozen
    Timeline: Frozen Fever
    Canon Resource Links:
    Disney Wikia

    Original Character Background: N/A

    Personality:
From his introduction, Hans is presented to us as the Prince Charming of the story. He is incredibly regal and handsome and very eager to express formality and good manners right from his first appearance. He is quick to charm Princess Anna with his friendly nature and attentiveness, but Hans is much, much deeper than a first impression will ever indicate. He sympathises with Anna's feelings of abandonment as far as her sister is concerned, having come from a family of thirteen older brothers himself. He knows how she feels and he knows just what to say to ease her hurt feelings. Hans presents himself as a balm and a rock for Anna, who has experienced a considerable amount of sadness and loneliness in her life. He's a dream come true, a man who is handsome, sensitive, loves chocolate and can spontaneously duet with her like they were just meant to be. If only he were sincere.

Hans is described by one of the film's co-directors as a chameleon. He can change himself to suit his environment and to make others feel comfortable. His manipulation of Anna began early when she presented herself as a much easier option than her sister. Anna's openness and honesty made it easy for Hans to see how he could play to her emotions and needs so he could be what she needed. Like any good manipulator, he's discreet about it. He lets Anna make the first moves and steps and follows along easily in order to make himself more appealing to her. Of course, it's not only Anna he adapts himself for. When Arendelle is left in his hands while Anna attempts to draw Elsa back to the kingdom, he serves as a strong, kind and brave leader. When your Queen disappears and casts your home into eternal winter, that's certainly the sort of person you look to as a leader, which is exactly what Hans wants.

His ability to play roles is worryingly good. He has a very charming and disarming way about him and it makes him so very easy to trust. It doesn't take him long to win over Anna who wears her heart on her sleeve and the village caved quickly when he took initiative in the stead of the two princesses. He appears both warm-hearted and humble when he brushes off praise for attending to the people of Arendelle and his only truly aggressive action is to fiercely defend the kingdom, Anna's trust and himself when the Duke of Weselton becomes a little too paranoid for his liking. He has no reason to be cruel to the residents of Arendelle, given that it is a place he would like to settle into ruling. He doesn't seem to have an interest in a dictatorship so much as a country he can call his own in a very literal sense. He is noble in many ways despite his manipulative and cruel personality.

As thirteenth in line to his throne, Hans only ever had the option of marrying into rule. He tells Anna straight that he would have preferred Elsa, but also makes it clear he had no qualms killing her or her sister in order to take over. Somewhere along the way in his past, he became cold and ruthless. Perhaps in a similar fashion to Elsa, who forced herself to become that way in order to control her powers. One could say Hans froze his own heart and did away with healthy emotions in order to gain the power he craved. However, it's not simply the power that would do him good. He claims he has a desire to find his own place and speaks openly of his brother's bullying tactics as a child. He recounts a time in which two of his brothers pretended he didn't exist for three years, and while it could easily have been a bid for sympathy from Anna, it's undeniable that the youngest of such a large family could feel struggle in establishing themselves as a person, particularly when a bid for the crown is thrown in the mix. It is perhaps why it's so easy for Hans to play pretend, given that he may never have felt entirely sure of who he was.

Hans has an all consuming need for a position of power because he wants the respect and recognition that comes along with it. Though it's for entirely selfish reasons, he's mostly a people pleaser. He craves positive attention and a greater control over his own life to the point where he would willingly play a role his entire life to have it. He is nothing if not ruthless and determined, no matter what moral boundaries he needs to dance across. Like a combination of the struggles Elsa and Anna faced, these feelings of neglect and unimportance lead to some damaging effects on his moral compass.

When Hans reveals his true plans, he couldn't be further from the impression he placed on everyone. He is far from the sweet, considerate and patient character he played and that is a testament to his acting skills. He is callous, cruel and not afraid of sharing his observations of others when he thinks he'll get away with it. Elsa's reveal and run couldn't have worked out better for him, and it only got sweeter when Anna was cursed to die. Once he truly believes he's gotten away with his stunt, he's happy to leave Anna to die only to continue lying and acting to the other dignitaries as if nothing had ever happened. It's clear her death has no real impact on his feelings, not when he's practically won Arendelle without having to lift much more than a sword over his head.

Yet, even when it all seems to be going his way, he reveals nothing to Elsa. Only Anna truly sees that dark, manipulative side of him. When he encounters Elsa with the intent to kill her, he can easily disarm her with a few clever twists of the truth. Her concern for sister was an obvious weakness to Hans, enough for him to use her apparent death as a means to control Elsa into submission so he can kill her. Elsa, none the wiser to his schemes, readily accepts her punishment and makes no move to stop him just as he doesn't hesitate to attempt murder. Truly, it takes a brave and arrogant man to face off a woman with snow powers armed with nothing but a sword. He is shown to be adept at battle, but clearly puts a good amount of confidence in his ability to use words in place of weapons to get his way.

To be so manipulative, you need to be intelligent too. Hans seems to plan ahead based on the hints people let slip and he uses everything to his advantage with little regret. Anna's weaknesses became clear footholds for him, The Duke's paranoia only served as a way to make him seem like the bad guy and Elsa's reveal of her powers is something he takes in his stride as his big chance to find his place. Overall, Elsa had been the hardest to win over, but he found opportune moments when the men he took to visit her ice palace act out. Again, he uses any chance he can get to shrug suspicion onto others, making it seem as if he's doing what's best and not simply what is best for him. He protects her from making a poor choice and from the arrow of one of Weselton's men, winning just a bit more of her trust on every encounter.

Just curious- how do people decide what to name their Pokémon? I know a lot of people have themes- what made you pick them? Does anyone choose not to name them?

[He's mostly just using this as a way to figure out what kind of Pokémon everyone has, but a part of him is genuinely curious.]

I've kind of been going with a fruit theme, myself. My horse back home was called Sitron. [His laugh is sheepish.] Where I'm from, it means lemon. Here, I have my mudbray- He's called Æble- which means apple. Then there's my houndour, I don't think he appreciates his name very much. It's Jordbær- it means strawberry! I think he was hoping for something more fearsome.

[Hans chuckles to himself.] I'd be really interested to hear all of your reasons behind your names. We all come from such different worlds, I think it's a funny way to bring our culture here.

    Character
    Name: Ceilidh McCallum
Series: Original (though has a short story with her published called Ceilidh McCallum vs the Super Evil Fairy Lady)
    Timeline: Late canon series
    Canon Resource Links:

    Original Character Background:

    - Their world (OCs): Ceilidh comes from an earth similar to our own but with one major difference: everyone in the world has a magical knack or ability. Because of this magic is completely integrated into everyday life. For example people sell handmade charms on etsy alongside jewelry and antiques, laws were created to prevent seventh sons of seventh son’s from competing in competitions because of their magically enhanced good luck, there are sanctuaries for wyverns and the gods walk among people. It is from the gods that humanity gets their power and gods get their life from humanity’s worship of them. The gods came from another place long forgotten except to those and their children through something known as the Cosmic Web. Though the fringe ends of the Internet have come up with such theories but are laughed or waved off much like flat-earthers are on our world. (Not to say there aren’t flat earthers on her world…)

However, in this case they are actually right. The problem is that Earth is tenuously connected to the cosmic web and thus being able to move from the Earth to other worlds is no longer possible. This was caused by an ancient war between men and the gods.

Because of the presence of the gods and the fact that people get their power from their gods, colonialism never took off as much as it did in our world. The further you get away from your god the weaker your powers become. There is no United States of America and Canada for example. Ireland (called Eire) was also never taken over by England. Monarchies still exist because their rulers are tied to the land and help keep it healthy, though most of them are constitutional monarchies.

    - Their history (OCs and customizable/silent protagonists):

Ceilidh’s life started out eventful even before she was a week old. At her naming a fairy who was a fan of her mother’s music came to her naming gifting her with three traditional fairy gifts: a generous heart, a quick mind and strong will as thanks for the music. Siobhan, Ceilidh’s mother, spent forty-five minutes in the bathroom laughing hysterically. While it could have been worse, those sorts of gifts were not something to give a McCallum who already tended to be quick minded and strong willed. At least Ceilidh had a generous heart to balance it out.

Her knack of animal speaking showed itself rather quickly as she spoke to the crows and other animals around the Hall before humans. Her knack for finding things also showed up as soon as she could go wandering outside as she would bring home the most unexpected creatures: a fire breathing bat, a baby griffon and fire salamanders for example. This secondary knack wasn’t realized until she was older – being an animal speaker and a small child of course she’d bring home the weird critters to show and see if she could keep. (The answers were no, no and no.) Around that same age she started martial training like all McCallums did. One can’t protect Eire, which the McCallums are Geased to do, without knowing how to fight after all and best to start young before they learned bad habits.

Besides that she had a relatively normal childhood of a little girl who loved pink, sparkles and violence beyond one or two incidents. Her brother sold her to the visiting circus at the age of four but then had to buy her back. A high fairy tried to kidnap her through the use of a baby unicorn when she was five. At six she made friends with a goblin girl who was hiding under her bed and she got her familiar: Princess Sticky Bubblegum, an owlet who got turned bright pink from a magical accident in the barn.

While her home and town were normal during her childhood trouble brewed outside of Eire. Her twin cousins Kale and Trever, were part of a team preventing the ancient gods from regaining their power and possibly destroy the world. This didn’t touch Ceilidh’s life beyond the occasional visit from members of the team looking for help from the Hall’s vast resources or a quiet place to rest.During one of those visits turned Princess Sticky Bubblegum to be turned pink from the visiting ritual mage. Being young, she was fairly oblivious to this beyond enjoying the strangers coming to visit: a creepy demigod necromancer, a woman with a possessed sword and could blow up ANYTHING and an ancient man who may or may not have been around when the gods and humanity broke the world.

Everything changed when she was fifteen: her eldest uncle, Dara, returned thanks to the demigod necromancer and a life mage rescuing him from the Clutching Grove: an ancient evil grove of trees that desired to devour the souls of everything in the world that had been accidently been created by the founding ancestor of the McCallum line, and whose descendants were cursed to help curb the Grove’s never ending hunger. The necromancer and life mage helped put the grove to rest, freeing Ceilidh’s uncle. Quite a few people didn’t like this and they descended upon Thorn Hall to fix this.

They lost. Fighting against the McCallums on their home turf was the second most stupid thing you could do, the first being fighting a land war in Asia. It was Ceilidh’s first real fight and she made her first real kill. A shock when it happened.

One that caused her to withdraw into herself for a while.

She managed to crawl out of it because of her rescued uncle who didn’t seem to be able to connect to the mortal world any more. Everyone else danced around him nervously and uncertain as to what to do and how to handle his return; essentially coming back from the dead after forty years. Not having any past with him and being the generous soul she was she started interacting with him, bringing him critters she found and treating him like she treated everyone.

Deciding that she kind of wanted to get away from being a McCallum for a while she applied to and was accepted into the Eire Bardic School where she could pursue acting as soon as she could. She always loved plays and dramatics and the attention her mother got as a singer but didn’t quite have the gift for singing. She could act though. It is around this time that she will be pulled from.

Though she doesn’t know it, she is half dragon. Her mother kept the information of the father of her children to herself not seeing it necessary to have the father of her children in her and her children’s lives.

    Personality:

Basically Ceilidh is a McCallum which in her world explains a lot. It’s a certain mentality that the family has. Part of it is magically induced and part of it is cultivated over the many generations. They’re heroes. Not the bright and shiny sort of heroes but the messy get down into the dirt and kill it heroes. Willing to do anything to make sure people are safe even if it means dying. They are the ones that hold the line. At least for Eire. It’s a mentality that says you should always carry at least one weapon. Even in places that you shouldn’t need a weapon because that’s when you’ll probably need one most.

It’s an interesting sort of paranoia.

Violence, for McCallums, is the first answer - not killing people but subduing. The sooner a fight is over the better it is. And the best way to stop a fight is to be the best fighter you can. Better than anyone else.

As a child Ceilidh acted like everyone was her friend boldly going up to anyone and introducing herself and then acting as if they were her best friend. While she doesn’t act like a person is her best friend any more, she still likes people and defaults to people are good and if you’re just nice to them they’ll be nice to you. She makes friends easily or at least she tries to make friends and possibly forces her friendship on people. It could be because of her fairy gift but it’s more likely that’s just the sort of person she is. This leads her to being easily shocked and surprised when someone rejects her friendship. The idea that someone wouldn’t want to be her friend is so alien that she doesn’t know how to handle it.

She doesn’t think that it’s something the other person did but something she did. People are wonderful and good after all, right?

She never quite got over her pink and princess stage - which was and is channeled rather oddly to most people. Her favorite spear (which is her prefered weapon) is painted bright pink with glitter and pink ribbons for example. And while she gets that she can’t be made a princess by her aunt now, she still has a bit of a desire to be one. At least the fairy tale versions - though she wouldn’t be kidnapped by dragons she’d fight the dragon into submission and then make friends with them and they’d go on adventures stopping evil. A war lady princess. She’s also a bit of a geek with a fondness for Role Playing games and science fiction shows, books and movies etc. And she has written fan fiction posted on Archive of Our Own and she’s got a tumblr to post her gif sets and random theories about her favorite things. She is a staunch defender of any of her mother’s work and will come down like Smaug on Laketown on anyone who says anything horrible about it. When it comes to things written about her family (for there is plenty of media when it comes to her famous family), however, she’ll happily mock it as long as it’s not mean.

At times she is a bit over dramatic in the flailing of arms and capslock sort of way. If there is something to gasp at she will GASP at it. An indoor voice is something she’s still working on. Though now she uses the excuse that she’s working on her projection for the stage. (Which is partially true). Everything must be felt deeply and to its fullest extent. Evil is Evil and Good is Good. Shades of gray are still somewhat hard for her, she’s not quite had the life experience. The fight to keep her Uncle Dara tarnished her worldview on this as a few people she thought were nice turned out to be not so nice. Which is … wrong….

Since her knack is animal speaking she will a great deal of time ignore the humans and talk directly to the animals, holding people and animals on the same level of conversationalists. It can lead to some interesting things because animals don’t tend to lie and so they would say things that their humans might not like which could tilt Ceilidh in an interesting and unhappy direction. Unhappy McCallums are not good to be around. They can become violent McCallums. She’s not as bad as some of her family, but she is quite willing to swing first.

    Hello Poopy head!

[The sound goes on before the video does. When it does turn on, the Murkrow, Princess She Who Devours The Darkness in People’s Souls … or Pickles… croaks “Hello Poopy head!” again before being shoved (gently) out of view. She flaps irritably, a wing blocking the screen briefly before vanishing. Once the bird is out of the way, Ceilidh appears juggling several pokemon balls. One ball, two ball and then three balls is caught after a few rounds.]

Has anyone ever tried putting a person into one of these?

[A ball is held up and she tries to crack it open.]

I’m not a technomancer so I really don’t know how this sort of technology works but it seems like a reasonable question. The critters here are rather varied and from what I can tell some of them really resemble people. So either they can take in people or there’s something that differentiates between the pokemon and not.

Would anyone be willing to help me test to see if the ball takes people?

[She gives everyone a bright and charming smile. Surely people would be willing to help her with this experiment.]

    Character
Name: Old Man McGucket Fiddleford McGucket
    Series: Gravity Falls
Timeline: Right before Northwest Mansion Mystery.
Canon Resource Links: This one is very thorough.

Personality: Hoo boy. Old Man McGucket is, as they say, a piece of work. At his point in the timeline, he's spent thirty years being straight-up insane, and only recently has he begun to put himself back together. The process is far from complete, but he has the potential to make a near-total recovery.

Let's start with Sane McGucket. The man's a certifiable genius. Raised dirt poor on a Tennessee hog farm, he had a lot to prove when he went off to college, but he never once felt ashamed of where he came from. Don't write him off as a stupid hick -- he's a brilliant hick. With his banjo and his drawl and his chewing tobacco habit, Fiddleford was unapologetically Southern. What he wanted most was to invent devices to improve people's lives, and maybe make enough money off the patents to live simply but comfortably. (He could have been Steve Jobs if Ford Pines, Professional Life Ruiner, hadn't pulled him into the portal project.) Despite a temper and a tendency towards spiteful retribution when he's been insulted, Fiddleford is a good dude. He really does want to help people, both in the abstract and specific: he's a darned good friend, and he'll work himself to absolute exhaustion for someone he cares about. He'll also resort to underhanded means to achieve goals: he started the most well-intentioned cult I think anyone's ever seen, and he erased the memory of his best friend in order to keep his memory gun invention. Fiddleford's a coward when it comes to real danger, not just interpersonal conflict: he's more than willing to let sleeping dragons lie rather than poke them with the scientific-inquiry stick. He's prone to panic and anxiety and nervous tics. He keeps his space neat, and disorder is a bad sign: if his cubik's cube is left unsolved, something is very wrong.

Insane McGucket happened because he couldn't stop using the memory gun. The cumulative effects broke his mind: within two years, he was divorced, kicked out of his own house, and entirely unhinged. Now Old Man McGucket lives in the junkyard, more than half feral, living off of whatever meat he finds and unable to recognize his own reflection. His Southern traits are exaggerated -- he'd be a caricature of a crazy hillbilly, except for the fact that he still invents and builds giant robots. He has zero social graces, saying whatever pops into his mind, and is happy just to have people pay attention to him. He knows on a real level that he's an embarrassment and a bother, but McGucket doesn't know another way to be, so he keeps on being him. He's easily manipulated and a poor judge of character, but he's also braver than before -- McGucket rushes in where angels fear to tread.

There are some key traits that surface in both mental states. One, McGucket will eat anything, and I mean anything. Irradiated milk, an entire raccoon, roadkill, his way out of a dinosaur's stomach -- it's frankly terrifying. Two, he desperately wants attention, and will do just about anything to get it. He's also always been kind of prone to oversharing. Three, his family matters to him very deeply, and even though they're estranged and he's been forced out of his son's life, McGucket still wants to be part of it very badly. Four, he's got a vindictive streak -- he can be petty, bitter, and mean. He's always been capable of justifying his means (see: the memory-wipe cult), and when his inhibitions are gone, there's nothing stopping him from destroying ten city blocks because someone didn't come to his retirement party. And speaking of, five: he's a brilliant inventor and mechanic, and he's never stopped inventing and building. Trouble is, he's only recently started remembering things from before 1982, and he has a hard time still with technology he didn't build.

He wants to remember, though: that's one key difference between Fiddleford as a young man and as an old one. McGucket wants to put himself back together, and has made strides toward restoring his sanity. However, even if his mind comes back completely, Fiddleford will never be entirely the same as he was: he's spent a long time being what he is, and he'll always be both braver and weirder than he was before. Oh, and he's never making himself wear shoes again, not for man nor beast nor devil triangle. I'm not one hundred percent sure how long he's going to last in Team Rocket, but I'm really interested in finding out. He'll probably work a lot on the science side of things. He can build you giant Pokemon-stealing robots, okay, he's a valuable asset.

Hermione passes out, and this is the point she will wake in Victory Road.

    Personality:
Hermione Granger is an extremely intelligent witch and is often referred to as the ‘brightest witch of her age’. She has a passion and thirst for learning, and has the ability to absorb information and then recite it verbatim. She loves books and studying, and can often be found in the library researching or furthering her learning.

Hermione finds it difficult to make friends as her peers (and some adults) see her as a know-it-all, and when she corrects people she comes across as bossy and elitist. However this is not the case - her perceived bossiness or ‘one-upmanship’ is a consequence of Hermione’s fear of failure (particularly in relation to her studies), and her self-consciousness about her outward appearance. It isn’t her intention to be bossy or come across as superior, but part of a front that she puts up to protect herself. While she appears confident when talking about her studies, she is deeply wounded when she is bullied about her intelligence and looks, and tends to retreat and steer clear of others, often escaping to the library.

Hermione has a deep respect for rules, structure and authority, and finds the thought of breaking rules abhorrent, often scolding others for doing so. She finds it difficult to accept that a trusted adult in a position of power would abuse it, and often defends authority figures when they are accused of wrongdoing when the evidence isn’t clear. However Hermione does come to eventually see that not all people can be trusted, and not all rules are fair, and she will break the rules if the need is extreme.

After making friends with Harry and Ron, Hermione’s bossiness isn’t quite as extreme, however she will still scold both friends if she feels they are breaking rules, doing something dangerous or neglecting their studies. Both Ron and Harry have helped Hermione open up and be less serious, however will always turn to her for advice, and make use of her impressive knowledge and intelligence. She is the voice of reason when Harry wants to charge forward into something without thinking.

As a friend, Hermione is also fiercely loyal – she is the only one to stand by Harry despite the rumours that circulate in the Daily Prophet about him, and stays by his side despite the difficulties and dangers he is faced with, even though doing so could result in her death. Even when she is shunned by Harry multiple times, she still reconciles with him and remains his closest friend. Her loyalty may be tied to the fact that she finds it difficult to make friends, and therefore clings to the ones she does have.

Hermione also has a strong sense of justice and will stand up for others. She feels that all sentient creatures are equal, and will fight for the rights of minority groups despite knowing she faces an uphill battle, particularly against purebloods.

She can also see past the exterior to the uniqueness and beauty inside – her love for her cat Crookshanks is evidence of this. Crookshanks is one of the ugliest, meanest cats Ron and Harry have seen, however Hermione loves him and Crookshanks is loyal to her, particularly since he chose Hermione as his owner rather than the other way around. She is also one of the only people who treats Harry as a person in his own right, rather than by his title as the ‘Boy who Lived’. She sees past the title and heroic deeds to the real person inside, and treats him as a proper friend.

    Victory Road Sample:
Now that Hermione had examined the entire contents of the backpack, including having flipped quickly through the Breeding Manual (which of course she vowed to read very thoroughly once she’d had a chance to process everything), she turned to the little green creature that had been hovering next to her. It had been observing her since she’d woken up, freaked out and then been pushed out of a strange lady’s house with barely an explanation about what was going on.

“Well then,” she crossed her arms thinking aloud, trying to calm down, collect her thoughts and block out the constant music that seemed to be playing from somewhere. “I haven’t seen anything like you in any of the books I’ve read, and you’re definitely not in this breeding manual either. You’re obviously not threatening. Actually, you’re pretty cute.”

The little green ball seemed to respond well to the compliment, bouncing up and down in happiness. It twirled around before floating over to her backpack, nudging the strange electronic device she’d stored in the side pocket.

Hermione frowned and knelt down. “Can this thing tell me what you are?” She’d examined it and turned it on of course, noting all the functions, but hadn’t really had the opportunity to play around with it more. She picked it up again, and a green light appeared at the top as she swung back towards the green blob. Examining the buttons, Hermione clicked the main one – she had a computer at home so it seemed a safe bet the biggest button was probably akin to an ‘Enter’ key.

Solosis, the Cell Pokémon. A membrane filled with fluid surrounds Solosis' body which allows it to live anywhere. It defeats its enemies using its formidable Psychic-type powers.

Hermione frowned as the electronic voice faded away and then looked up at the Solosis, who seemed to be bouncing in the air. “Solosis? A psychic type Pokemon?” She’d never heard of that kind of creature, but she’d had her run in with psychics – she’d walked out on Divination, believing it to be total rubbish. Now she wasn’t so sure. The entry raised more questions than answers.

“I don’t suppose you know how I can get home?”
