    Personality:

Let's cut this short. Riz Gukgak is a dweeb. He showed up to his first day of high school wearing a suit and handing out business cards. He's four feet worth of uncool nerd, who never had a friend except for his babysitter until he started high school. His nickname in middle school was Briefcase Kid. At any given moment, he looks like he just walked off the Newsies set and he wears a hat so constantly, that even his best friends hadn't seen him without one until halfway through their sophomore year.

He's weird. He's also much more than that.

Riz is fascinated by solving mysteries and crimes. At any given time, his room has several ongoing case (or conspiracy) boards and even the smallest hint of something hinky going on is enough for Riz to put himself on the case, regardless of whether or not anyone else wants him to be on that case. Finding clues, solving mysteries is his Thing. It's what he does.

In part, Riz's drive to solve mysteries is simply because it is fun to him. Even from a young age, he loved finding lost toys, and his favourite video games are the mystery solving kind. Getting that breakthrough after getting all the clues together, finally seeing the hidden solution is what gets his little goblin heart pumping.

(that and the six cups of cold coffee he drank while working)

"Work is an act of love [...] when you stay up at night with your boards trying to crack the case.
You don't do that because you don't care about people. That is you saying 'I love you' to the people who matter to you most."

His desire to solve mysteries isn't just about fun though. It's also how Riz interacts with the world, and more importantly, how he cares for people.

While Riz is plenty outgoing, he's also pretty socially inept. His unusual interests and inability to really notice his own awkwardness kept him from meshing well with other kids to the point his only friend growing up was his babysitter. His ability to solve mysteries and find clues actually gives Riz a way to interact with others in a manner that is on his level so to speak. He might not know how to be cool, but if he can solve issues other people are having, they will at least keep him around.

Furthermore, as the son of a detective mother and a secret agent father, putting hours of working into solving a crime to keep other people safe, even to your own personal detriment, is behaviour that has been modelled to him from a young age, and it is behaviour he idolises in both his parents. Even when it is something that got his father killed when he was nine and kept him from spending much time with his mother because she is always working, it's something he greatly admires both his parents for. They are a family of badass, crime-solving goblins and no matter how much the world looks down on them, they'll find the solution.

Riz knows the world isn't necessarily kind or just. That often, good people end up dying or hurt or kidnapped while bad people live comfortable lives. For him, solving mysteries and crimes is a way to try and help balance that out; to try and help a few more good people survive and put a few more bad people down in the ground. He might not have had many (any) friends growing up, but that was never about Riz not liking people. Riz cares about people a great deal. He'll happily work himself into the ground if that is what it takes to keep people safe. Even if those people will never know about what he did. Solving a mystery or a crime isn't about glory to him. It's about Justice and that is the Gukgak way.

Riz's desire to solve mysteries, to keep people safe and nudge the balance towards Justice where he can shapes his personality in a major way.

In general, Riz is fairly straight-laced. He, more or less, cares about the rules and laws, and is always quick to bring up when something the Bad Kids are attempting to do is illegal. That is, up until the rules get in the way of Solving The Case or protecting people, in which case, the rules are immediately and unscrupulously ignored. This can lead to scenes where Riz will more than happily shoot to kill and then 30 minutes later get on everybody's case for not wearing seatbelts in a car.

(If Chaotic Lawful was an alignment, this is what Riz would be.)

While with the rest of the Bad Kids, Riz is often the voice of, if not reason, then at least (some) focus. It's often him who tries to direct his friends' attention to the matter at hand, and tries to make sure things are followed up on.

But, at the same time, Riz is just a teenage boy too! A teenage boy who has a close group of friends for the first time ever. Which involves getting into a lot of teenage shenanigans like doing snuff and ending up with a shitload of tattoos (his mom is going to kill him), trying to do cool things so the cool jock of the group can think you are also cool (and maybe getting him a BFF necklace because you are Best Friends), and advising your friend to become king of hell because it's pretty rad.

    (It was so rad).

"[Riz is] grumbly asleep in a chair in Fabian's room. [...] Just a tiny bouncer, falling asleep."

Riz is also immensely protective of the people he cares about. He is protective of people in general, but when it comes to his close friends and family, Riz can get downright vicious in order to keep them safe. Examples of this can be seen when Riz tortures Biz (by shooting off two of his fingers) in order to get information out of him about Penny's whereabouts, making it very clear to Biz that he'll put the next bullet in his brain if he doesn't start talking. Similarly, when he learns that Kalvaxus is the one who killed his father, Riz not only promises to kill Kalvaxus with his dad's gun, but he also vows to eat the dragon in the same way Kalvaxus ate his father.

Which he then does. Because Riz Gukgak does not make empty promises.

"-- and Riz, you see your dad's grave up on a little hill." "I don't tell anyone."

As an Inquisitive Rogue archetype, Riz excels at investigating his surroundings and others. He's got a keen eye for detail and not easily deceived. Though he is by no means infallible, trying to put something past Riz is not an easy feat. He's often the first to notice when other party members try to break off on their own. Though while he is good at seeing through other people's deception, he's by no means skilled at deceiving himself. He lacks the charm and confidence to easily pull off lies. The best he can do is keeping quiet.

And Riz is very good at keeping quiet.

Riz is, in fact, a very private person. As chattery as he can get about his interests or The Case, when it comes to his own personal feelings or troubles, he clams up. He plays things very close to the vest, rarely letting others in on the things he struggles with. For example, during a visit to the graveyard, Riz doesn't show his friends his father's grave, even though it is easily visible. And it isn't until spring break of their second year, a good year and a half after they've met, that the rest of his friends even get to see a picture of Riz's father. Talking about his feelings makes them Very Real, and frankly, shoving them down into a little box in his head to be ignored, is not only easier, but far more productive. And that is what Riz has to be, right?

"Why do you think your friends keep you around, Riz Gukgak?"

As mentioned, Riz is a workaholic. There is always some mystery to solve, some crime to work on. As a result, he rarely sleeps and drinks more coffee than is healthy. Though it is joked about, one thing Riz had to face in the Nightmare Forest, a place where everybody has to face their worst fears, is taking a nap. It's something so simple and easy for other people, but to Riz, time spent asleep is time he can't spend solving a case. And if he isn't solving a case, then who is keeping those people safe?

And, perhaps more importantly, if he isn't solving a case, why would anyone keep him around?

One of Riz's greatest fear is the idea that people keep him around because he is useful and that if he stops being useful that will also stop. He knows he is socially awkward and nobody's first choice of a friend. He knows he finally ended up with a group of friends because of a stroke of luck; if they hadn't been in detention together, would the rest of the Bad Kids ever really have looked at him? If it wasn't for the clues he can find, would they ever keep him around?

He very much fears the answer to this, which is why he throws himself into his work.

Another thing that ties into this is Riz's sexuality. Or lack thereof. Or well, he really doesn't know what the hell is going on with that whole department, but it is a fact that while all of his friends are super horny and hooking up, Riz is... not. And he isn't sure if he ever wants to. Right now, it's just another thing that sets him apart from other teens (to the point, he came up with a fake roemance romance partner 'Baron from the Baronies' just to avoid any questions about the subject) and it is something he fears will just lead everybody around him to find someone they love more and better than awkward weird him and that they will all end up leaving him.

It is a fear he had to face in the Nightmare Forest and while it is a fear he has logical arguments against (Teen romances don't last and his friends have already shown they care about him for more than just his riddle-solving abilities), emotionally, it's still something that is hard for Riz to deal with.

(Which, again, is why it is better to bury yourself in work and work yourself to the edge of exhaustion because you don't have to think about feelings and insecurities while you are doing that!)

[To say Riz is completely freaked out by this situation is putting it mildly. There is being freaked out and there is what he is experiencing now after waking up on the wrong plane, in the wrong kind of body, with the wrong sort of woman calling herself his mom (this woman was nowhere near badass enough to be Sklonda Gukgak) and he's being followed by some weird... mongoose... ferret... slinky rat?? thing (Riz is sure he's rolling all ones on his Nature checks cause he cannot tell what the fuck that thing is).

So Riz did the only thing sensible -- he had run into the forest, ran long enough for his legs to feel like they were going to fall off, and then he had scrambled up a suitably thick tree, stealthing himself away in the canopy so he could take proper inventory of his situation.

The last thing he remembers is heaven; it's meeting his father (and seriously, he had always known his dad had been a badass, but an interplanar, undercover secret agent for Heaven? That was just Fucking Badass, capitals and all) and getting to talk to him for the first time in years, actually, talk to him and not just at his gravestone. He remembers new breakthroughs, putting together more clues to Kalina's existence with the information his father had and actually helping Heaven advance their case and becoming an actual honest-to-all-the-gods Heavenly consultant himself. He remembers-- actually, no, that had been kind of a really emotional and embarrassing conversation that he's going to mentally file away in the 'do not touch for now' box. Mysteries first, awkward breakdowns about his sexuality (lack thereof?) later. Much later. Perhaps never!

He remembers walking through the door, the one that was supposed to take him back to Arborly but instead had taken him here.

Here, where there was no sign of his friends, or the nightmare forest, or his weapons. Here, where there wasn't even a sign of his normal body -- Riz still abhors looking into mirrors, but a quick glance in one he found in the backpack the weird woman had shoved into his arms confirms what the stubby pink hands had already implied: somehow he was human now, not a single sign of his normal Goblin heritage remaining. Normally green skin was now a pale, splotchy pink. His teeth were all flat and dull, not a single fang remaining. His nails were equally dull, small and pale half-moon ovals against his now pink hands. They were his hands though. He wasn't somehow possessing some human body. This was his body, scars and ill-advised tattoos and everything just... human and wrong.

Had that been the game plan all along? Had Kalina somehow gotten involved and shunted him off somewhere far from his friends, someplace where he couldn't help them with their quest? Could she do that?]

[Despite the cool weather, Riz is definitely sweating buckets, his finger hovering over the post button for the network. He's been trying to glean as much information as he can from that, but most of his questions are still unanswered. Which means it's time to try a more direct form of information gathering.

Which, unfortunately, is not his thing at all. He's the rogue! He does the sneaky stuff. Or the research stuff. Not the chat and gather intel part. Fig would normally be the one handling these kind of things. She's got that crazy charm and a deception high enough that she could probably sell sand in a desert.

Riz chews on his lip with his weird new flat teeth as he scans over the message he drafted one more time. It... sounds okay to him, but he knows from experience that the things that sound good to him don't always (actually, kind of almost never) sound good to other people. But he's gotta try, right? He really needs to find a way out of this weird plane as soon as possible.

He hits the post button and moments later a Anonymous message pops up on the network.]

    Hi!!
My name is Penelope and like, wow, I was totally not supposed to be here at all!
I've got some like, *crazy* important stuff going on back home, so I can't stay and hang.
Can someone be like super sweet and tell me how to get off this plane?
I'm like really cute so you should totally help me which would be so rad.

PS. If anyone here knows anything about Crab Kings or Shrimp Parties they should definitely let me know.

[Riz has been scanning the contact list and network for any sign of the other Bad Kids, but he hasn't spotted a thing. Which is a good thing, probably. They need to be back in Arborly to deal with the Nightmare King. But just in case there is something he missed or they are laying low, that PS should catch their attention without being obvious to anyone else.

Or. Well. That's what he hopes, at least.]

    Character
    Name: Cylva
    Series: Final Fantasy XIV
    Timeline: Post patch 5.4
    Canon Resource Links: Here

    Personality:
Cylva's story began not so differently from the other heroes of the other shards. A Warrior of Light, using her sword and shield to fight for her world, the Thirteenth. However, where the heroes of the Source and the First came together to fight the threats facing their world, gathering allies to aid their cause, the Warriors of the Thirteenth were divided, using the power of auracite to fight primals and other threats to their world. Auracite gave them great power, but at a cost--wielders of auracite were corrupted by its power, becoming aether starved and eventually driving their world to the brink of destruction. Darkness flooded the entire shard, turning it into what the denizens of the Source and First know as the Void. Cylva was one of the only two survivors--at least, after a fashion--rescued from the end of the world by the Ascians Loghrif and Mitron.

You could ask her how long ago that was--but she doesn't remember. She was brought across the expanse between worlds, leaving her body behind, and eventually to the First, where she took up the mantle of Shadowkeeper in service to the Rejoining. This meant that she, over decades, brought plans to fruition that tore apart lives and killed untold numbers of people--she may not have conceptualized and masterminded every dark turn that the heroes lives took, but she definitely took advantage of what wasn't planned.

As she's been around for at least a few thousand years, even taking into account the time dilation that exists between the Shards, and during that time positioning herself as the villain to prime the world for a rejoining, she keeps a lot of secrets to herself--Cylva isn't even her real name, but when asked she says it doesn't matter. There's no one left that would have known it. Even having lost her whole world and all of her family and friends, even the Ascians that saved her from her world have died and reincarnated, and do not know her anymore. She was driven to become a villain to save her world--and she did it for years, until finally a group was primed to start the Rejoining--Ardbert, Lamitt, Renda-Rae, Branden, and Nyelbert. Her previous attempts not having been successful, she joined their traveling group to ensure that their plan was a success.

Of course, that ended badly--she revealed herself as the mastermind behind all their troubles and spurred them to fight her, as the plan was to die at the hands of those she had been traveling with as friends, pushing the shard to the brink to be ready for a Rejoining. After her life was spared, though, quickly came the Flood of Light and the death of her friends, followed by a hundred years of living through another active apocalypse. Regretful, weakened, and not knowing what to do, she withdrew for a time, reemerging after the first of the Scions were dragged to the First. The bodies of the fallen Warriors of Light, her friends, had been exhumed and turned into Sin Eaters in response to their arrival. She knew that soon a hero would follow that would be capable of putting her friends' souls back to rest, so she began gathering heroes again to prepare. This is how she really comes into the orbit of the Warrior of Darkness (player character) and ends up telling her story, the story of 'the devil more deserving of death than any that yet linger in this world'. She refers to the sixth adventurer in Ardbert's party as a traitor and betrayer, treacherous and deceitful. She carries immense guilt for what she did, and makes it abundantly clear throughout the journey, along with her regret that she can't die. She asks for death, the only possible recompense she can think of for what she did, and is denied.

After her life is spared, Cylva goes back to the Crystarium and begins instead to tell the story of the Warriors of Light, working to redeem their reputations after their death. She is continuing to work for atonement, and now has renewed hope for saving her own world without all the subterfuge and betrayal that she had to do a hundred years ago.

Her past has given her a bit of a penchant for secrecy in that she doesn't speak a lot about herself--she does make herself indispensable to the owner of the Wandering Stairs, for example, being praised for her wisdom and good sense, and they seem friendly with each other. After a short time traveling together with Ardbert and the rest of their party--and the whole time continuing to manipulate and cause chaos outside of their view--she was well liked enough to have her life spared when she revealed herself as the villain behind so much of their suffering. That familiarity and knowledge is with the persona that she lets people see--in the case of Ardbert, that of a fellow adventurer. Glynard, a fellow citizen and simple bar maid. Her past and her self isn't important.

    Loki's 'Sacred' Timeline

    Personality:
Often Loki held himself up to his name, the God of Mischief, and he took quite a pride in it. Starting out in his youth he would often love to play tricks on his brother, Thor, such as pretending to be a snake before surprising him with an attack and playing all sorts of illusions for fun. As he grew up under Odin’s rule, Loki would share company his often boisterous brother, which he would try to advice to think before he leapt. A lesson Thor didn’t learn til his time on Midgard, also known as Earth, when he was banished for reigniting a conflict between Asgard and Jotunheim. Which also was the place Loki found out about who he truly was, a frost giant, not of true Asgard blood but of Jotunheim.

This caused a great deal of anger and confusion for Loki, for being lied to all his life by Odin his supposed father. Feeling used as only a tool for political reasons to be adopted, and that all his efforts of being in competition with his brother for the throne had been for nothing. In that moment, something inside Loki snapped and he wanted to try to control his own life. It created a great rift between and his family as he started to try to prove the power belonged to him, creating another war with Jotunheim. This caused him to try all sorts of ways to show power, create a façade that he should be the rightful heir. Envy and hatred took over his heart.

During Loki’s rebellion and escape by faking his death by falling through the worm hole under the rainbow bridge of Asgard. He joined an alliance with the mad titan, Thanos. Giving him the mind stone, while under its influence truly led him down the path of madness and attempted to taking of Midgard with an army. His plans were thwarted however, when the Avengers got together and put a stop to him. However, something different happened in the timeline as after there was a great distraction made, he tried to grab the mind stone back and while he tried to escape again, he was taken in by the TVA. There he learned all that happens in his sacred timeline, his true path was to always cause pain and suffering to others. This really broke him as he then found out that his mother’s death will be because of him and he would be killed by Thanos. This showed his true feelings inside, that he does have some love for those close to him, even with the anger he carries.

While reevaluating himself, Loki finally let himself admit that he did not enjoying actually harming others had even caused harm to others, feeling he had to, that it was his only way to the top. Giving into the truth that his behavior was terrible and felt guilt that he was a villain. Mobius however, tries to give him hope by giving him another chance to prove himself to be a better person and guided him on a path to help finding another variant of himself from destroying the sacred timeline. Although in his intentions he wanted to stir the path from the Timelords, he does find himself giving into love when the variant, Sylvie, learning more and more about her caused a deep caring within him. Something he hadn’t felt before, only wanting her to be alright and that he can help fix everything. One doesn’t have to do something bad, and perhaps he wasn’t meant to be alone forever. Even though she betrays him and pushes him back to the TVA warphole, Loki only had a brief moment to feel sorrow, before getting up and trying to find a way to fix everything. The once villain, now trying to make things right.

So overall, even if Loki shows mischievous and cunning side, he does have what he thinks are good intentions now behind it. But he will do what he must do to make sure those he truly care about will be ok. For the most part, Loki does his behind a great façade, to find out how he actually feels, one must get closer to him.

★ The major reason why Zorua would be good as Loki's, is because the main power of theirs is illusions and it is known to be a trickster. Which was Loki's main call in life, being a former God of Mischief and also had powers of illusions as a way to trick others, it would work out perfectly.

Beyond that, Romelle becomes very much a background character and interacts more with Allura or in like big gatherings of various characters than anything else)

    Name: Keith
    Series: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Timeline: First episode of Season 8
    Canon Resource Links:
    - Voltron Wiki
    - Voltron: Legendary Defender Wiki

Personality: Keith is the stong silent type most of the time. He doesn't usually waste words, and hates to monologue for no reason. He tends to be a loner, and has been teased by other characters in canon as being "emo". He rarely lets loose or allows himself to have fun. This can be traced back to the fact that he was technically orphaned at around eight to ten years old. (There was no specific canon age, but the flashback image made him look pretty small. I'm approximating his age for this.) His mom had left him when he was still an infant, and his dad, a firefighter, died on the job. Keith was forced to grow up fast as a result, and his time in the foster care system didn't really allow him to have a true childhood.

Keith also never really got the chance to grieve his father's death, and not having his mother as well as thinking she abandoned him left him with an extremely short and explosive temper to cover his fear of abandonment. He acted out and pushed people away, which made him unadoptable to most families as they couldn't handle his issues, and left him with a reputation in school as being a troublemaker and a discipline case. Most teachers didn't have the extra spoons to guide him back on track. It wasn't until he met Shiro, someone who promised that he wouldn't give up on Keith, that his temprament slowly started to even out. Shiro was able to help him control his outbursts and get him accepted into the Galaxy Garrison as one of their top pilots. But, after Shiro's mission to Kerberos went wrong, leaving Keith on his own again, he had one last big outburst at the Garrison, and they kicked him out for "discipline issues".

Keith is extremely selfless, often putting the needs of the mission and the greater good above his own. He tends to see the big picture when he's not hyperfocused on a singular goal, and is pragmatic almost to a fault. This can make him seem cold and even a little selfish when the more logical answer involves potentially abandoning one person for the sake of being able to save millions in the future. It's not that Keith doesn't value his teammates. As someone who spent a lot of his childhood alone, his friends and teammates are his family, but, as someone who also is willing to sacrifice his own life for the greater good, he feels that everyone should feel the same about their own lives as well.

On the other hand, Keith does have his moments where he refuses to see the forest for the trees. There are times when Keith strongly believes he is right, and that there is no other answer. These are his moments of hyperfocus, when he doesn't listen to other advice, acts hot-headed and impulsive, and often takes extremely high risks. Most of the time, his strong instincts and quick thinking can get him out of trouble, but, now and then, he needs the others to come rescue him. He gradually learns to rely more on his teammates and stop acting alone, but it takes a few hard lessons throughout canon for that to really sink into his head.

After going on a mission with the Blade of Marmora, Keith found his mother again. They became trapped for several weeks inside a quantum abyss, and the gravity wells of that area of space, combined with the compressions in time that caused them to see each other's memories and pasts, gave them two years of time spent together to bond and come to terms with their lives. Keith returned to Voltron, matured, more level, but still with that bit of fire that makes him who he is. As someone who was always acutely aware of his faults, he was able to work hard and improve himself. When he's not completely sure about something, he tends to back down in favor of other people's opinions as he sometimes lacks confidence in his own leadership. He is still growing and learning.

    Character
    Name: Senjuro Rengoku
    Series: Demon Slayer
    Timeline: after chapter 69
    Canon Resource Links: kny wiki

Personality: Senjuro is, at the most basic level, a young boy with an immense, centuries-old legacy looming over him. It comes as no surprise, then, that he tends to be self-conscious, even anxious, in a lot of situations. Beyond that, he is a kind and sensitive individual, perhaps as a result of how he was raised. Though his mother died before he could remember her, his father and elder brother raised him with love. And while their father’s mood and mental health declined after his wife’s death, Senjuro’s brother Kyojuro never wavered in showing him love and support. Kyojuro himself appears to be a large source of inspiration for Senjuro, considering how often Senjuro alludes to what his brother would have done or would have wanted. It’s clear from his values that Senjuro wants to lead a life that his brother would be proud of.

In his early youth, Senjuro looked forward to following his family’s ancient tradition of rising in the ranks of the Demon Slayer Corps to take up the mantle of Flame Hashira. Unlike his elder brother and his father, though, Senjuro never showed talent in swordplay. For a long time, this didn’t stop him; despite hardship and emotional turmoil over not being good enough, he kept trying to hone his skills. He isn’t exactly stubborn, but rather very earnest and eager to please, and by the same note, hesitant to abandon the Rengoku legacy.

He defines his eventual change of heart as “giving up,” but deciding against pursuing swordsmanship doesn’t stop Senjuro from wanting to do what demon hunting is really about in the end; helping and protecting humankind. While he is still just a boy, he isn’t exactly sure at this point what he will do with his life, but he states that he will still dedicate himself to being useful to others. The thought that his now deceased brother would support this decision eases any misgivings he has about it.

Being as meek and obedient as he is, Senjuro is shown to have difficulty standing up for himself, namely to his father. He takes verbal abuse without complaint, although it upsets him to the point of tears. Even when their intoxicated father disparages Kyojuro for dying, Senjuro admits to being unable to speak up.

When push comes to shove, though, quite literally, Senjuro will come to others’ defense and aid. Tanjiro, who witnessed Kyojuro’s death, doesn’t sit idly by and gets into a physical spat with Shinjuro. And despite taking a blow from his father, Senjuro doesn’t heed his own pain and still tries to pull the retired Hashira off of an already injured Tanjiro. In this situation, Senjuro shows that he is already a bit of a mediator, mentioning afterward that Tanjiro probably shouldn’t hit people, either.

All in all, what Senjuro really wants at the end of the day is to be good to other people. Even when it is uncomfortable for him, he tries to help to the best of his ability, even if he considers said ability to be wanting.

There’s something familiar about Ecruteak City, despite Senjuro never having been to it before. In a way, it feels reminiscent of home. Perhaps it’s simply the architecture, or maybe it’s the celebration of familiar traditions. Either way, he spends his first few hours in the city enjoying it with his Pokemon, the closest friends he’s had outside of his family or the corps in… perhaps forever.

They visit a few shops, supporting the local vendors, admire the mighty tower from afar, and rest at the edge of the lake, admiring the sun glinting off of the water’s surface. Mimikyu even makes a friend in one of the Magikarp swimming near the shore; Senjuro watches, holding back a chuckle, as the two simply stare at one another for the longest time before the wild Pokemon splashes some water at the two of them. Mimikyu responds in kind, smacking the water’s edge with its stick tail and getting the fish right back.

The critters decide to race one another back and forth along the shore while Senjuro’s gaze wanders. He notices on the far shore a damaged building and a crew of people tending to it. When a local passes by, he asks them about it, and learning about the damage touches his heart. To some people, it may be just a structure, but right away, Senjuro understands the temple is an important part of the town’s history.

As soon as his Pokemon grow bored, they all head over. There’s a nagging feeling in his mind for a moment that Senjuro can’t be of any help, and that he’d just get in the way. After all, he isn’t strong enough to lift wooden beams, and he certainly doesn’t understand architecture... and for a second, he wants to turn back.

It’s Mimikyu who encourages him. The little fairy tugs gently on his pant leg and points at the volunteers who have already been working hard and whose strength may soon flag. Senjuro remembers he isn’t quite so helpless, and stoops down to pick up his partner as his own plan to help forms in his head.

“You’re right,” he coos as Mimikyu tilts its head up at him. “Thank you. I think we can carry some jugs of water and boxes of food, don’t you? Let’s go fetch that and hurry back.”

    Character
    Name: Penny Polendina
    Series: RWBY
Timeline: Just after her death in S3
    Canon Resource Links: https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Penny_Polendina

Personality: The very first thing that becomes apparent when someone meets Penny is that she's generally unconditionally kind to others (assuming that the other person isn't evil or has hurt her friends). She always makes sure to greet anyone and everyone she comes across, especially now that she's become more comfortable being around and interacting with non-robots. She may not understand absolutely everything about others yet, but she tries her hardest to learn. Sometimes she can come off as a bit *too* kind though, and forget the fact that she's a robot - like the time she tackle-hugged Ruby at the Vytal Festival. (Poor Ruby! That had to hurt.)

While her kindness is the first thing that tends to become apparant, especially closer to her untimely death, her curiosity is second to none on the list of defining traits. Of course, being a robot made to look human, Penny's biggest desire is to learn to be human. While she can come off a bit awkwardly when learning new things, she has a good habit of remembering and making note of every detail she can think of. This works in her favor, as she seems like a genuine human during the festival compared to her total lack of awareness when Ruby and the rest of Team RWBY literally bumped into her in the first season. Also, her curiosity is what tends to either get her where she needs to go to help others, or ends up getting her into trouble instead.

Penny is unfailingly optimistic, and even when things seem bleak, she's always combat ready. When going up against each of her opponents at the Vytal Festival, she was excited to face them, less worried about whether she would win or lose, but more about having fun. And in every fight she's been in with the White Fang and alongside Ruby, she's never doubted her ability to do what she can to help others out.

Friendship is the most powerful thing to Penny - and those that she considers friends are near and dear to her. Even so shortly after meeting Ruby and trying to find Ruby's teammate, Blake, she considers the other a friend and tries to fight back for her sake when Ruby gets hit by their shared enemy's attack. Trust is a powerful thing, and Penny takes it seriously, placing trust in those she deems her friends.

Being the first ever synthetic robot that can generate an aura, Penny was kept away from the outside world - and for good reason. But this, coupled with learning about how humans live and act, caused an insecurity to rise within her. The fact that she's not a normal, human girl, and yet she's interacting with, and even attempting to befriend humans, makes her worry that people might reject her. It's not that she wants to have to always act like she's a normal human, but that's what she has to do to keep herself safe. Having a friend like Ruby, who knows about her true nature, helps her keep this insecurity down (as well as her general enthusiasm and optimism!) and serves as a reminder that there's at least one person who accepts her for who she is. It doesn't completely remove the insecurity, but it very much helps knock it down whenever it bubbles to the surface.

Penny's upbringing as a learning synthetic being, as well as her mission to help others, all results in her being a very selfless person. Much of what she does, she does to help others, especially later on when she realizes the above mission and understands that she was made to fight and protect others. And she does that quite often, especially when people try to hurt her friends.

Being a learning robot has its disadvantages - like being naive about the world. It can't be helped, but a lot of Penny's knowledge she takes for granted, whether it's true or not. Also, unless someone comes off as obviously not to be trusted, or evil, she'll treat the person like any other potential friend! She can take care of herself, of course, but she is definitely naive about the way things work - though this will diminish with her gaining more knowledge about things.

Penny also has difficulty lying. It's not that Penny can't lie, it's that she has a very obvious tell when she is. When Penny lies, she hiccups - but, of course, this only occurs if she is purposefully lying or is aware of the lie. The only time she outright lies in canon is when she tried to keep Ruby from learning the truth about her, and getting her in trouble after her being caught fighting alongside Ruby against the White Fang earlier in canon.

And, of course, all of you wonderful people who have given me so much advice. I know this is still the start of my own journey, but I wanted to thank everyone for helping me out!

[Her Magnemite hovers in front of the camera, chittering away about something. It seems nervous.] Little Magnemite here says 'we haven't even tried yet, what if we fail?' And you know what? Even if we fail, I'll try again, and again, and again! There's no such thing as a perfect adventure, right? If you stumble and fall, you get right back up and do it over again! If you ask me... that's half the fun!

    Character
    Name: Fluttershy
Series: My Little Pony: Equestria Girls
    Timeline: Post-Holidays Unwrapped special
Canon Resource Links: EG!Fluttershy’s wiki link

Personality: Just based on her name, one might assume that Fluttershy is a timid individual. And they would be partly right. Very quiet and soft-spoken, she often has a bit of difficulty interacting with others, and can be easily frightened or flustered around unfamiliar people or situations. Hating to be the center of attention, she also prefers to avoid confrontation as much as she can, even at her own inconvenience. Because Fluttershy prefers not to bother others, she tends to suppress her own feelings in favor of someone else's, putting aside her wants and desires to help others.

She is, however, still a teenage girl, subject to the wide array of emotions that comes with growing up, both good and bad. While she might bury her feelings to avoid conflict, the negative feelings she might hold back can bubble beneath the surface until they're ready to burst. And though Fluttershy is usually hesitant and demure, she does have a temper, just as capable as anyone else of arguing and yelling when she's angry or upset and pushed to the brink. Having been a victim of bullying in her life, she does not tolerate those who are mean, and isn't afraid of holding a grudge against someone, giving them the cold shoulder and refusing to speak with them if she feels she or someone was hurt or wronged. She also has a tendency to look at the negative more often than not, constantly finding something to worry about and fret over. She can be quick to consider the worst possible outcome, and these doubts can make it difficult for her at times to act, too worried that something might go wrong.

Despite this, though, Fluttershy is generally a sweet and gentle person, taking care of others' needs before her own. This is Fluttershy's greatest strength; her great compassion towards others. Best known for her vast kindness, Fluttershy has a big heart that cares for all her friends, human and animal alike. She especially loves looking after animals, volunteering at shelters, and even dreams of being a veterinarian in the future to continue helping animals who can't help themselves. This dedication is also seen toward her human friends; she is willing to do whatever she can to help her friends, even if it means confronting her fears and discomforts to stand up for someone in need. She is even willing to protect them from danger at the risk of her own safety. And thanks to the help of her friends - both the human and animal variety - she continues to (slowly) push the boundaries of what she is capable of ; while her shyness can still get the better of her, she has been better able to express her thoughts and feelings, to defend herself and others and make sure that her voice can be heard. She is even able to perform onstage in front of people, whether in a band with her friends or, occasionally, standing in the spotlight on her own.

Fluttershy has a strong and loving heart that cares deeply for her friends. And with their support, she manages to accomplish more than even she thought she could, continuing to grow and learn, while never straying from the kind person she truly is.

    Character
    Name: Max Goof
    Series: Disney Animated
    Timeline: Post-An Extremely Goofy Movie
Canon Resource Links: A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy Movie are the big two here!

    Personality:

Max Goof is a cool, calm, collected individual who has no problems and who can make friends and pick up chicks effortlessly. He never makes mistakes and always manages to come out on top.

... Okay, a lot of that was just how Max imagines himself in his head.

Max is a fairly calm and collected guy, though, and tries his best to be friendly to everyone. As he's a teenage boy, he of course tries to impress the girls, but he's grown up past the point of trying too hard just for that. He absolutely does want to seem like the coolest person though, and because of that sometimes he'll be a bit of a show-off. A lot of this is because he tends to want to not be compared to his dad.

He feels that the traits he shares with his dad make him seem weird and awkward, but they are just as much a part of him as his generally cool demeanor. Even though he settled his differences with his dad in his last year of high school, he still feels that being compared to him makes him seem less cool while in college. (He does look up to his father still, though.) He has the awkward a-hyuck, as well as his own brand of teenage awkwardness, especially when trying to talk to girls.

When it comes to doing something, Max feels it's best done right - but when it comes to something he feels is more boring, like schoolwork, he generally finds himself wanting to do something more exciting. Despite that, he still makes decent grades, meaning he puts in more than enough effort to pass. He's very skilled in the more fun activities that he prefers to take part in with his friends.

Max is motivated by his friends, and also by impressing those around him; he's calmed down a bit about being so flashy about standing out, but he still won't pass up a chance to look cool to the girls and to other people in general.

He does have a bit of a temper though, mainly when disagreements get heated or someone he cares about is in trouble. For the most part he's able to keep that in check, but if he's pushed far enough he won't hold back from letting someone have it.

Max is a college teenager through and though, still finding his way in life and learning as much as he can while trying to keep his 'coolness factor' up. That also comes with the downside that he's generally awkward when he's trying to be cool, but he's still working on it.

But that was about to change.]

Huh... these Pokemon look like letters. [He doesn't notice the ground starting to shake a little, because he soon realizes that the Pokemon spell out FARTZ, and he has to keep himself from laughing out loud in response.

    Rumble, rumble.]

That has to be on purpose though. [He looks over to his Pokemon.] Y'think someone caught them to spell that? Or maybe they figured it out themselves.

[Finally, his Pokemon point him in the direction of what is now much louder and more obvious rumbling - a quite dense stampede of Stantler.

Now, he knows how Pokemon battles work, and that he could probably ask his Pokemon to use something to shoo them elsewhere. But his first instinct?

    Was to run.]

    Character
    Name: Yuya Sakaki
    Series: Yugioh Arc V
    Timeline: Post-series
    Canon Resource Links: Here

Personality: Yuya, defined in one word, is an entertainer. He's cheerful, friendly, energetic, and wants little more in life than to make people (especially those closest to him) smile. He used to wear it as a mask to protect himself from others, but as he's come to believe in himself he's been able to wear his feelings openly, with empathy, to truly bring the happiness he's always wanted to.

Yuya can go through the whole gamut of feelings in about five minutes. It's hard to say he's usually happy, or sad, or angry, because he responds so strongly on an emotional level to what's around him and his experiences. He's guided by his heart, which can make him impulsive and careless by not thinking things through at first. He often wears his feelings openly, whether it's weeping or laughing, and usually states his feelings candidly if he doesn't need to reign himself in for his company. He knows that they fester when he locks them in, so with open expression he's able to work through those negative emotions and come out more stable. Happier. Less prone to sudden ugly outbursts of anger or depression.

Yuya is the epitome of love, not war. He's sympathetic to everyone, never hesitating to support someone in need. His friends and family mean everything to him. He's easily moved by his own feelings of love, and feels it strongly, and he extends a hand to make a connection even when in conflict with someone because he wants to find peace and understanding with others. He's learned to focus this feeling into proper empathy, so he can understand other people's viewpoints and feelings to be a better friend. He has an open mind and open heart, and he's willing to give almost everybody a chance (or two). He believes in the best of people, their ability to change for the better, and appreciates people from all walks of life. No matter what someone's done, if they want to change then he believes in giving them a second chance--he's in no place to judge someone's past, after all.

Sometimes this trait can make him too passive, as he's willing to let poor behavior slide if they're trying, or hurt, especially if it's someone he'll call a friend. Although he'll give a lot of chances to other people, Yuya holds himself to a higher responsibility and expectation. If even a little bit of the blame can be reasonably attributed to him, he'll take it all, to the point it's almost a guilt complex. He learns from it, but when he's hardest on himself he slips into self-depreciation and insecurity due to his inability to reach his ideal or his perceived failure to others. While he's much better at bouncing back from that than he used to be, he's really his own worst enemy and it take strength to stop himself from tearing himself down until he gives up.

Although he's a truly empathetic person, in terms of his pursuits what Yuya wants himself is a natural factor in all of it. He wants his friends happy, he wants to be successful, wants to be liked, wants to be good, wants, wants, wants. It takes conscious effort to put himself outside his feelings, lest he project them onto everyone else and have expectations that they suit his beliefs. Those that are closest to him come before strangers, and while he'll sacrifice anything for them, including himself, it's underlined by the fact that he'll refuse to sacrifice them in turn even for greater good.

When Yuya has something he's set his mind to, he goes for it. He's a hard worker and dedicated as long as it's something he cares about (if it's math, he don't know her). And once he's set his mind to something, that's where he finds an almost stubborn courage to see it through, solve the problem, or save the girl. When he's confident this focus is what encourages him to try again, and again, and again, no matter how many times it takes until he succeeds. When his confidence is broken, then he leans on the faith of his friends to find the strength to continue on. If they believe in him, and he believes in them, then he can find a way to believe in himself, too.

    Name: Noboru Gongenzaka

Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V [NOTE: While part of the same franchise, technically not a castmate to Carly Nagisa; their series are in different timelines. That aside, it is worth noting that for...reasons, Carly will be steering clear of Gongenzaka on her own as is.)

    Timeline: Post-Canon

Canon Resource Links: I would like to apologize profusely in advance for Dub Names and Dub Quotes,

Personality: As Arc-V's token 'best (male) friend' per YuGiOh tradition, Gongenzaka is a character who is anything but token. Within the setting as a whole he stands out with a dueling style that seems to break every traditional rule the card game has ever set out to perform, and yet Gongenzaka is a character who is very much defined by the idea of tradition as well.

Or perhaps more correctly, the ways that tradition can carve forward while staying true to itself. An incredibly stubborn young man, Gongenzaka often immediately conveys his steadfast and determined nature, as well as his fairly moralistic ideals. Absolutely honorbound, it takes a good amount of time for him to consider options beyond his usual box of thinking, leaving him quick to protest to any solution that is anything but direct in its intent. A round-about idea such as a performance to draw attention will get his irritation until the point is explained, while anything even remotely criminal nets scandalized shouting. His honor however, is far more driven by his heart than his morals; for at Gongenzaka's core, he is also extremely caring.

A fairly touchy-feely person with the ones he cares about most- Gongenzaka is somewhat infamous for giving Yuuya in particular bone crushing hugs in the series- Gongenzaka will often put the welfare of others well above himself. He will take extra steps to ensure his opponents are focused properly on the match they're in, and for that matter move in no-holds-barred if he determines that to be the best way to knock sense into another. In fact, he will even allow himself to bend certain moral standards if it means the safety of others; where he resolutely refused to participate in card-bribery while in prison, he immediately turned on this in order to make certain that two starving inmates without a card to their name could acquire food.

Gongenzaka's great amount of care is something of a double edged sword however. An incredibly emotional person, who cries openly for their successes and 'moving moments', he is also one to become incredibly worried. Gongenzaka's attachment to people can outright blind him with distress if he is unable to confirm their welfare in a situation that so much as implies they could be in danger, and this trait leads him to act rashly, and hastily...though somehow, not quite with rage; for all his emotions, anger is the one feeling that is truly difficult to inspire in Gongenzaka.

Perhaps this is due to his great level of self-control; Gongenzaka is a very respectful person provided they do not appear to grate immediately at his moral core, even speaking with an old, old dialect of Japanese which involves him oft referring to himself with 'kono otoko no Gongenzaka' (Loosely translated as 'I, the man Gongenzaka)- in essence placing himself beneath all others as 'simply another person'. He is one who makes otherwise extreme actions such as bowing to the ground for requests, and has more than once proclaimed his feelings to be loudly 'UNFORGIVABLE', and it is thus unsurprising to see that his humility and respectfulness as well translates into a great amount of self-judgement and punishment. Gongenzaka tackles his own flaws in extreme ways- training, and overtraining himself over the slightest loss and doing his best to address his failings within himself. This does, notably, often end positively though; beyond the fact that he is not shy about pointing out the failings in others if he feels they need the push to do better, his ability to consider these parts of himself has also led him to be incredibly adaptable.

And that, ultimately, is key. This incredibly kindhearted and emotional boy, whose strength of will and character is as immovable as a mountain, is yet also able to see where the mountain must change for the betterment of itself. ...Or even move, impossibly. Gongenzaka over the course of the series proves multiple times that 'change' does not mean a complete shift of character- but instead an improvement of character through the instruction of others. He seeks help, and learns a manner of dueling that does not break his own style- and from there continues to push those limits while staying true to his own.

Waking up in a dormitory of sad grey to find the letter was...more than concerning. Actually it was downright horrific in the admittedly pearl-clutching sense, and Gongenzaka reacted in the best way he knew how.

Specifically, he steadily and resolutely sought out an exit, got out, and after some internal debate on the merits of 'ACAB'- let it not be said he didn't learn anything while in Synchro- looked for the nearest police department.

Apparently populated entirely by women named Jenny, who ultimately patted his shoulders with nervous laughs, shook their heads, handed him pamphlets, and then advised him on making use of his 'Pokegear'.

    Which, he did not have.

    Likewise, a pokemon.

(The Jennies were of course baffled. The Rockets, ultimately, were quite smug when a stone-faced Gongenzaka made his way alone back to the base door, and reminded him to report for 'Training' after getting his things.)

    ...

(He did not report for training. He did, however, get his things.)

It had, put plainly and vaguely, been an extremely long day. There had been a lot of fighting. There had been a lot of fighting that frankly did not apparently fly in the world he'd woken up in, as rather than so much as crack open a pokeball Gongenzaka settled for cutting out the middle man and sideswiping particularly adventurous grunts with his geta on the way for the door while otherwise weathering each hit like any good Steadfast Dojo Practicioner.

His uniform? Absolutely scorched, trashed, and more. His things? Reclaimed, so to say, even if it was with a grimace.

For the moment he was taking refuge at the 'Pokemon Center', squinting at a pamphlet. Trying to collect himself. Calm down.

(Deep breaths in, and out- he knew how to meditate, and he was going to draw on that as much as possible while he-)

One of the pokeballs broke open.

    "AUH-!"

    "Wwwwwiiile? Mawile..?

Gongenzaka stared- the idea of pokemon at least, after seeing them in the city and then also being attacked by a number of them, was not that strange. This one simply standing around there was...definitely stranger? "...So then, you are the 'pokemon' that are meant to be mine..."

It occurs to him that someone may have stolen these for him. And he can't even find who they were stolen from. Banishing the thought for now (it did him no good to dwell on what could not be handled), he looked over the yellow thing.

"You appear to be wearing hakama," he noted, snorting. "I, the man Gongenzaka, did not know you could appear as such."

The mawile preened at the odd compliment.

Gongenzaka found himself smiling a little more. "Saah, well then... ...it appears we are to be partners...though not in crime," he muttered quietly, only to frown at the pokemon's confused blink. "Auh...do not worry for it...! I, the man Gongenzaka, will make sure nothing dangerous comes to you, hm?"

Not that they likely couldn't defend themselves, but it didn't feel right to let something so small take his fights.

"Now, we need to make use of this," he continued, holding his 'pokegear'. "It is somewhat like my Duel-disk's tablet...perhaps, you can help?"

Ultimately of course, the mawile was not much help for it, but at the very least his video recording was a success.

(And then the mawile tried to steal someone's steelix, and Gongenzaka was left with the concerning realization that he had somehow been paired with pokemon Dennis Macfield.

    ....

At least the badger-seeming pokemon was more well behaved.)

What Makes the Sky Blue Main Event Page

    Personality:

Sandalphon is a serious, goal oriented, and (very) stubborn angel, and always comes off as abrasive, but deep down is a gentle soul who cares a lot more than he lets on. He’s sharp tongued and snarky, but rarely means anything by the insults he throws at people. It’s just his way of showing he cares. Even so, when someone does manage to push his buttons, his fury is nigh-unstoppable. There’s really no middle ground when it comes to Sandalphon’s emotions. It comes from a lack of proper understanding of emotions, due to living most of his very long existence in solitude.

His 2,000 year prison sentence shows how much he missed through his lack of understanding of human cultures and norms. Due to Lucifer’s sparse visits and his life as a ‘caged bird’, there was only so much he learned through books and other time killers, but due to time being so fleeting to him, he doesn’t consider himself an expert on cultures. Sandalphon’s only gotten most of the knowledge he has through living on the Grandcypher and interacting with for crew for some time. There are still times where he questions most holidays and customs, such as why do people celebrate New Years, when to him it’s same old, same old. He tries to learn so he can stop getting such strange looks from others, but it does shine through. But through those lessons, he’s learned that everything has a reason for existing.

Once his mind is set on a goal, he pushes forward to meet that goal, no matter how many times it takes to get it done, and even if it’s to his own detriment. This goal-oriented nature makes it hard for him to catch onto any jokes or just be with others in general, as he wants his mission done as quickly as possible with no means of stopping. This also makes it hard for him to understand others, much less get along with those with more carefree personalities. But, he did manage to make friends with a dragon who’s the epitome of carefree, so it’s definitely possible.

He’s constantly trying his best to understand others, as the lack of communication between both Sandalphon and Lucifer is what caused Sandalphon’s two thousand year prison sentence and Lucifer’s untimely death. He silently fears that lack of communication, but he still finds it hard to voice his emotions in proper words. When push comes to shove, however, he can still manage to express himself properly in order to make sure that never happens again. After all, it was only during the battle with Lucilius, during a near death situation does he tell the Captain that yes, he does want to protect the Sky Realm, but because he wants to, not because he’s obligated to.

His kindness is much more subtle, however, as his prison sentence and his desire for revenge stifled the kindness in his heart. That doesn’t mean it’s gone, however. It just manifests in smaller, more subtle ways. This is most easily reflected in how he pays attention to the details of one’s coffee preferences. Coffee means a lot more than just a drink to Sandalphon, and if he truly cares for a person, he will make strides into making the best coffee for them. But to get to that point, Sandalphon really has to know the person, and even like them to some degree, which that alone is a hard bargain. But hey, if those who used to hate him in the Grandcypher crew grew to love him, then it is 100% possible.

    Character
    Name: Sylvain Jose Gautier
    Series: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
    Timeline: Post Azure Moon
    Canon Resource Links: FE Wiki

Personality: Sylvain is a man of many words, and only some action. He has a fondness for complimenting men, women, everything in between, and even inanimate objects. When he's not looking for someplace lively, he often enjoys time with his horse, playing chess, or brushing up on his classic literature. This, however, is a side he doesn’t usually show. He prefers to play the fool for a variety of reasons: it lets him shirk responsibility, disarms people, and generally means less is expected of him over all. Regardless of how you view his lifestyle, truly befriending Sylvain gives you a loyal ally for life.

Sylvain grew up in the harsh northernmost area of Fodlan, where the mountains, bitter cold and hostile border disputes made for a less than pleasant childhood. Born into the nobility of The Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, he was made heir to his house after his elder brother, Miklan, was disavowed. Due to Sylvain being born with a crest (a blood related power that signifies the nobility), and his brother without one, a rift formed between the two. Miklan’s hatred and jealousy drove him to make multiple attempts on Sylvain’s life including abandoning him to die in the mountains, and leaving him at the bottom of a well in the dead of winter. While this should have made him angry and bitter, Sylvain still found he pitied his brother, and laid much of the blame on both himself and the broken system that valued his blood above his personage.

From a very young age he was also introduced to Dimitri, Felix, and Ingrid. They are his childhood friends, and the people he has spent nearly his entire life with. He is fiercely loyal to them, willing to throw away his life at a moment’s notice in order to protect those dear to him. Much like them, Sylvain accompanied his companions to the Officer’s Academy at Garreg Mach in 1180.

Not long after arriving, Sylvain would be forced to face the consequences of his brother’s exile. Having taken up pillaging, looting and destroying local towns, Miklan had made a reputation for himself as a savage bandit. Emboldened, he stole an extremely powerful artifact known as the Lance of Ruin. Unknowingly, Miklan doomed himself. Without a crest, he was in no way capable of wielding the relic, or fending off its deadly power. Tasked by the Church to retrieve it, Sylvain and his classmates were forced to witness the horrific transformation Miklan underwent into a rampaging demonic beast. The power Miklan coveted destroyed him, horrifying even Sylvain despite the hatred he felt for his brother. The grisly demise and subsequent execution (by Sylvain's own hands no less) of his only sibling continued to haunt him well past the scope of their mission.

When war broke out across Fodlan in 1181, Sylvain retreated back to his home territory to defend it. Despite the crumbling nobility that gave way to Imperial demands, Sylvain remained steadfast in upholding the old Kingdom beside his friends. Even after Dimitri’s supposed death and the professor’s disappearance, Sylvain refused surrender, and eventually returned to Garreg Mach for the promised reunion in 1185. He helped end the five year war that gripped his homeland beside his friends, professor, and newly crowned king without wavering.

Despite his commitment to the war effort, Sylvain much prefers diplomacy. Bloodshed and carnage, especially where innocents and civilians are sure to suffer, upsets him greatly. Sylvain would absolutely claim 'to be a lover, and not a fighter.' He's prone to going along with the flow of things, even if he may not like them. Typically he is cheerful, lackadaisical, and shamelessly flirtatious, but can have a secret cynical streak.

    Victory Road Sample:
Sylvain watches them from his lounging spot under the shade of the trees, familiar figures dappled by the early afternoon sunshine.

    Horses.

Or what he thinks are horses. They’re built much the same, though their coats are short and sleek, and mostly in shades ranging from cream to fallow. What truly captivates him though is the roiling flames that lick the space where manes and tails ought to be. Even their strong limbs seem to be adorned with the embers too. They’re short, built a bit more like hunters’ ponies. Stocky, but still elegant, meant to carry children through the woods. It’s a sight to behold, a small herd of them, shepherded by one much larger than the others.

That one’s more the size of the horses he’s used to. Except once again, the creature is crested in flames, and a horn adorns the spot where Sylvain might brush away a forelock. Idly, he wonders if those flames would scorch him.

’Ponyta and Rapidash. Lovely, aren’t they? So wild and free.’ A passer-byer had remarked to him earlier in the day. Someone much older than himself, heading whichever way (The fellow hadn’t offered, Sylvain hadn’t asked).

Yes, they are lovely, Sylvain decides. A curve of a smile brightens his features. He’s always been a stableboy at heart, no matter his upbringing. Horses are good friends, and even better listeners. He thinks these strange fire horses would be just as noble as the furry ones back home.

In a daydream, he doesn’t notice when one of the fire ponies- err, ponyta- breaks off from the herd. It’s not until he finds himself within a few yards of it that Sylvain’s gaze refocuses.

    Oh.

The ponyta makes a snuffling sound, and flicks an ear his way. Captivated, Sylvain reacts as he would to any other curious horse, and offers out a hand. To his delight, the curious ponyta nuzzles his palm, and allows him a few gentle pets along its nose.

“Hey there, little firebrand,” Sylvain coos ever-so-gently. The ponyta’s gaze shifts up, curious about his voice, and makes a soft, approving sound. Sylvain can’t help it when his smile broadens. Maybe he can’t say for certain what it wants, but he knows a happy horse when he sees one. “Yeah, I’m glad you’re here too.”

    Character
    Name: Byleth Eisner
    Series: Fire Emblem 3 Houses
Timeline: 1 year post-game, Azure Moon route.
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki

Personality: Even when Byleth was a newborn baby, he was a child that neither laughed nor cried. Very rarely through his life has Byleth truly expressed or even felt anything particular, his expression blank and reactions subdued. It's only recently after becoming a professor to students that Byleth has actually begun to feel and express his emotions. Though he has gotten better, it's still difficult to perceive how Byleth might be feeling, and he doesn't always manage to express it well to others. After his tenure teaching, he is more amicable to flash the occasional smile, be a little cheeky, or show other small signs of various emotions, frustration, sadness, curiosity etc. While it is potentially the effects of merging with Sothis, signs still point to the fact that he more likely has learned this from being in close proximity to his students in some capacity.

He is very well known for his determination. Byleth is not a man who knows how to give up. Every strange thing has been thrown his way, and he's only marched forward to overcome it. His father was killed before his eyes, and though Byleth took time to mourn he also didn't let it defeat him. He chose, instead, to move forward and obtain revenge, as well as continuing to lead and protect his students. Even after abruptly becoming involved in a war, Byleth didn't let it drag him down, and instead focused on winning his battles. Through all of the strange things he's been through, Byleth is not a man who surrenders.

An odd attention to detail, no doubt developed from his life being raised as a mercenary, Byleth is not someone to just ignore the little things. He calculates nearly everything, anywhere from figuring out his friends' favorite meals, their preferred teas, or the kinds of gifts they like to receive. He even organizes when everyone's birthday is, as well as attempting to apply their various skills into the battlefield.

Despite the fact Byleth struggles to emote, there is certainly something about him that makes him appealing to others and want to engage with. In part, it is because Byleth genuinely wants to interact with his comrades and learn more about them, as well as help them. Another part is because of Byleth's strength as a tactician, allowing him to properly instruct others during a fight.

He is also shown to be quite compassionate, noting one of his favorite things is "helping people", being supportive to his friends and students through their struggles, and his attentiveness to others needs. While he may be still getting his sea-legs for showing people how he feels, he is definitely someone who lets his actions speak for him. While he may struggle to articulate his care he will shower people in gifts, return their lost things, remember important dates and details about them, and check-in on a regular basis. Outside of that, some of his likes are also noted as being trusted by people, seeing people smile, listening, reliable people and... well. Swords. Who doesn't love a good sword though, really?

Another notable facet to Byleth is his uncanny love for food and ability to 'put it away' as Dimitri states. He can eat upwards of ten meals a day on top of snacks. This is noted not only by Dimitri on multiple occasions, but several other students ranging from impressed to a little worried. Despite what people may think he does have his limits.

    Character
    Name: Geddoe
    Series: Suikoden III
Timeline: Post-game, Hugo as Flame Champion route
Canon Resource Links: Fan wiki with basic info

Personality: At a glance, Geddoe is very much a mercenary. Unsociable, highly skilled and proficient at his work, and possessing a stubborn streak that could stretch from Harmonia to the coast of Zexen. He doesn't usually talk much, and when he does he rarely minces words, apparently preferring to not to get too cozy with anyone. Even so, there's no question he's good at what he does, having a high reputation as a mercenary, so much so that his teammates are perfectly willing to overlook prickly attitude and trust him implicitly.

Of course, that's just what one might see on the surface, and there's far more to Geddoe than meets the eye. He's also quite observant and almost surprisingly diplomatic, quite capable of maintaining good relations with highly-placed contacts, mediating a treaty negotiation, or offering the proper greeting to a tribe that is rarely known by outsiders. While he may at times decline to explain his reasoning, or simply take action without cluing in his teammates as to why he's going the exact opposite direction of an alleged lead, he still generally acts on carefully thought through judgment. That said, while normally fairly calm and level-headed, he does possess a temper, especially when confronted with things like blatant hypocrisy, and has lashed out without warning on occasion when someone crossed a line. This combined with his stubbornness also means he can be prone to holding grudges, with one noteworthy example featuring a grudge that outlived the person he held it against.

Deep at heart, though, Geddoe is a fiercely loyal person who cares deeply for his friends, as well as an idealist who highly values personal freedom. However, as the bearer of a True Rune he's also a man marked by profound personal loss and a powerful secret, causing him to distance himself and be slow to open up to others. He doesn't trust on a personal level easily or quickly, and it takes patience, persistence, and often having some similar experiences to even begin to get through to him.

Oh, and he absolutely hates being put in the spotlight. Seriously, just drag him onto a stage or shove him in front of a crowd to speak and watch him clam up even more than usual...

    Victory Road Sample:

The idea of other worlds that operated differently is by no means novel to Geddoe. What is novel, however, is suddenly finding himself in one of them. Not that he had much time to think about it at first, given the frankly bizarre behavior of the first woman he happened to meet. Which is how he soon found himself standing outside in a village or small town of some sort, in what appeared to be early winter, holding an obnoxiously yellow satchel that apparently belongs to him now.

Suffice it to say he's more than a little bewildered at the moment.

Not that Geddoe will let that stop him for long. After blinking once or twice, he turns his attention to surveying his surroundings. The style of architecture is unfamiliar; he can't match it to any place he knows of, at least. The people of the town seem oddly unbothered by the stranger suddenly in their midst, and he decides to forgo asking questions of them for now in favor of looking around first. At least it's easy enough to find the edge of town and a relevant signpost identifying it, at which point, now safely away from potential prying eyes, he takes a moment to address the other thing that's been nagging at him from the moment he arrived.

His back to the road leading out of town, he pulls the thick glove off of his right hand, looking at the back of it. Sure enough, the lightning bolt-shaped mark is still there. Closing his eye, he focuses... And, nothing. It may as well be a mere tattoo for all the lack of, well, anything that happens. That's very odd, but not critical as far as he can tell so far.

Tugging the glove back on, Geddoe turns his attention to the contents of the satchel instead. Clothing, basic supplies, some bottles of contents he doesn't recognize and so on. Upon finding a printed manual of some sort, he starts quickly skimming through it, then abruptly pauses in his reading to dig through the bag's contents again. This time he pulls a red and white ball, and after another glance at the manual, shrugs to himself and tosses it into the air.

Almost immediately it hinges open, shooting a beam of light at the ground that coalesces into the form of a yellow and black, floppy-eared(?) lizard-like... thing. That promptly gazed up at him and chirped a greeting, before cocking its head while waiting for a reply. Geddoe stares for a moment or two, his single eye blinking, before deciding to go ahead to test and see if he's understanding things correctly.

"Come on," he says simply, turning to start off down the path out of town, then glancing back after taking a few steps. Sure enough, the lizard thing is scrambling along behind, its gaze still largely fixed on him.

Well, that answers that question, and with a thoughtful "hmm" to himself Geddoe continues on, lizard thing in tow and booklet in hand as he tries to piece together just what's going on.

    Name: Tooru Oikawa
    Series: Haikyuu
Timeline: Chapter 369 before the first timeskip
    Canon Resource Links: Character Wiki

    Personality:
Described as having a "disgusting personality" by opponents and teammates alike for his flippant, flirtatious, and childish attitude; Oikawa is someone who, if described in one word, would be "complicated".

As someone who had to work hard to get where he's at, Oikawa struggles with feelings of inferiority due to a rival in middle school that he deemed as naturally better than he was, causing him to feel threatened and become jealous; even while being skilled himself at the very same thing. He keeps these feelings to himself and rarely lashes out at others, although he does make the occasional snide remark during games to get under an opponent's skin. He is also shown giving advice to one of his rivals he feels inferior to, albeit after being petty about getting a picture as proof the other begged for his help, which shows that even with feeling inferior to others he's not unwilling to help someone improve on their skills.

Oikawa is ambitious and can have a one-track mind once he sets his mind to something, which can and has led him to getting injured from over-practicing. He's also incredibly intelligent and cunning, observing any game recordings of his rivals or even opponents his team are likely to face so that he can form strategies on how to defeat them. He's also able to easily figure out not only his opponents, but also his teammates' weaknesses, and has the skill to bring out the latter's strengths as well because of this. These skills plus his ambition make him ruthless towards his opponents in a match, doing anything within the rules to win.

Oikawa is often seen making cheerful remarks followed by serious and intimidating ones afterwards. His cheerful remarks and smiles are generally insincere, having been told by his best friend that his smile was genuine for once at an awards ceremony, with him barking back that he always gave genuine smiles. His own best friend has even stated that there was a time in Oikawa's life where he didn't smile.

Oikawa is also shown to be very caring and attentive towards others, namely towards his friends and his teammates by asking them how his tosses were or taking them out to get ramen after practices. He even is shown being excited and happy for having won an award in middle school, stating that he's never gotten one before so of course he's going to be happy about it.

He's shown to be sensitive as well, having started crying after thanking the rest of the third years on his team for the past three years together as their team captain after they lost their final shot to play at Nationals later that same night. However, this sensitivity isn't often shown in the form of him crying.

Oikawa is also prone to occasional bouts of childishness and rash behaviour, although this is most frequently seen around his best friend who he's grown up with or two of his rivals he feels inferior to and wishes to defeat. Other examples of his childishness is shown in the way he gives others nicknames, such as calling his best friend by "Iwa-chan" instead of the boy's full surname of Iwaizumi.

    In conclusion:
While Oikawa is petty, childish, and makes rash decisions on occasion; he is also capable of being kind, caring, and capable of helping even those he dislikes or feels threatened by.

    Regarding Freddy’s personal history.
Regarding the canon until split endings option.
    Regarding specifics of “Canon ending”.

    Personality:
Freddy was built for entertainment, and as such is a show man in many regards, but rather than being thirsty for fame he simply genuinely enjoys being among people and doing something that fulfills his purpose. Bringing happiness, or joy, to many or just one is equally powerful for him. Inversely he feels the need to apologize for things he, himself is not responsible for when they cause even mild frustration or upset in those same individuals. He is empathetic in a way that shows he takes responsibility for not only the happiness of others but their upset as well.

Intentional in his build or not, he has a tendency toward being a positive role model of sorts. Freddy is uplifting of others, positive and an optimist. He supports those around him consistently and struggles to say anything negative about people even when they have been directly unkind to him. Through his encouragement he demonstrates a considerable parental interaction with Gregory, bolstering him and pushing him to do some things for himself, while being ready to be a fall back if things don’t go as planned. Even when he would normally be unwilling to disobey or unable to go places, if Gregory is in need of him, he finds his way there.

He is a very loyal individual and once he has chosen to ally himself with someone he will care for them, even when they are acting in ways that would otherwise garner distrust. When his bandmates show a propensity to attempt to capture Gregory, his charge, he tries to deflect the idea, saying that they are not allowed to harm guests, even as he does not directly tell Gregory he is wrong. Similarly when Gregory is evasive in telling Freddy just how his band members are after obtaining their upgrades he chooses to accept the words at face value. He even goes so far as to express hope that they are doing okay, in spite of the accidents that get him these upgrades.

Through his night spent with Gregory, it is more than just his physical shine that gets worn down, some of his innocent belief gets tarnished as well, allowing him to see that things aren’t as wonderful as he believed. When faced with the realization that what makes him ‘Freddy’ may be no more permanent than a set of clothes, he begins to have a crisis of person, even asking if he may be another animatronic with the wrong shell on, and he quickly accepts when he is guided out of the area, not readdressing the questions again.

Freddy is not without some amount of darkness of his own, it is made clear that he is not completely unaware of disappearances that have been happening in connection with the Mega Pizzaplex, something that he seems like he might be unwilling, or unable, to stop on his own. Additionally, while digging deeper into the mysteries under the Pizzaplex, he admits that he came to realize himself while down in this area. He speaks of the anger of his friends, something that he seems to feel is valid, but promises to protect Gregory from them, as he sees that the child is not the right outlet for that anger.

He has a sense of justice that, once unlocked, is fierce and determined. It takes a considerable amount of realization for him to start to act on this sense of justice, but once he does, it is accompanied by decisive action and conviction.

Corrin's page on the Fire Emblem Wiki

    Personality:
( kind ) Corrin is an incredibly kindhearted person - almost to a fault, as he trusts others very easily and has a very poor judgement of bad characters. He will come to the aid of anyone who should ask him for it, and apologises profusely if he causes offence to others. In an example of his compassion, Corrin once found injured "bird" nursed it back to health - but unbeknownst to him, this "bird" would turn out to be a dragon - becoming one of Corrin's allies and voice of support in his canon.

( naïve ) After being raised in isolation for nearly his entire life, Corrin is undeniably naïve about the way his world functions outside of his castle fortress. Inside of his sheltered upbringing, he was accustomed to having butlers/maids tending to his every need, and the constant affection from his incredibly doting adopted brothers and sisters. He is cited by both of his older brothers, Ryoma and Xander, as being too trusting of other people, expressing fear that others might take advantage of such trustworthiness.

( charismatic ) Despite having been sheltered throughout all of his childhood, he is incredibly social and conversational, with enough persuasive charm to the point of convincing some enemy soldiers to join their cause after showing them mercy. Corrin is frequently described as being charming and charismatic, with the ability to make those he meets feel incredibly drawn to him and comfortable around him. In his support conversations with his allies, he is shown to be considerate and genuinely interested in them.

( curious ) Throughout various dialogues with friends from Corrin's childhood, there are frequent discussions about Corrin's lifelong goal of leaving the fortress and getting to see the outside world. In a bid to provide Corrin a glimpse of this freedom, his best friend, Silas, devised a plan to sneak Corrin out of the castle to experience a picnic. His curiosity also extends to his friends and allies, showing a fascination towards them and a tendency to ask a lot of questions in support conversations.

( pacifist ) Corrin has a strong aversion towards violence and will only fight his enemies when he has no other choice, throughout his canon game he explicitly states that he wants to try to win the war with as few casualties as possible. On the rare occasion that he fights without mercy, it is motivated by nothing other than the enemy units in question having total disregard against innocent lives and thus cannot be reasoned with, leaving Corrin with no other choice as to resort to violence in his bid for a peaceful future.

    Series: YuGiOh Duel Monsters
Timeline: Post-Canon aka post last episode of the anime
Canon Resource Links: His page on the wiki!

    Personality:

It's easier if I break down his personality into positive traits and negative traits!

    • Positives
+He is pretty damn determined once he sets his sights on an objective. Even though he may come out as stubborn, no one can deny that once Haga decides on something, nothing can change his mind and he'll see things to the end, and that is probably one of his strongest traits. Anyone else, after such crushing defeats against Yuugi, would have given up, but not this dumb brat. He keeps trying and trying, and just stops after he almost dies TWICE.
+He'll gladly be salty with you if you happen the mutually dislike the same person. Not sure how much of a "positive" this is, but if someone has an enemy in common with him, he is going to be a lot more favorable towards them. He ends up connecting to Ryuzaki due to their mutual dislike for Yuugi and co., and also accepted to go with the Doma folks because they wanted to crush Yuugi. So, if the spite is mutual, you'll have a very determined ally with you (if you can stand his whining of course).
+When he's not being insufferable, he's a very polite and proper person. Haga IS capable of being polite and mild, even a little friendly is the situation calls for it. Sure, sometimes he does it as a front so he can earn people's trust (aka SAY GOODBYE TO EXODIA) but he can behave proper in a genuine way. Like when he won the National Championship and was actually pretty polite when accepting his award. Basically, when he isn't full of spite in his heart, he's actually an alright teen.
+He loves bugs and insects more than life itself, and honestly he prefers the company of creepy crawlies more that of other humans.

    • Negatives:
-Isn't exactly the most approachable individual as a whole. Haga is terrible at socializing because of his stubborn and often times insufferable behavior. He'll be annoying and he'll insult others without a second thought, so he isn't an easy teen to deal with, specially if you are closer to his age (he tries to behave better near adults, but there's no guarantee on that front). He literally only has one canon friend, and even so, him and Ryuzaki bicker and argue constantly.
-Is very egotistical, full of himself and spoiled. Throughout the series is pretty obvious that Haga considers himself to be better than literally everyone around him, and he has no qualms about showing how much he thinks others are inferior to him in every way. Of course, often times he isn't better than the people he goes against, and he probably knows that, but that doesn't stop him.
-Cheats a lot and has the potential to be manipulative. He definitely isn't above cheating and using under-handed tactics to get what he wants. Please refer to EVERY SINGLE DUEL HE HAD AFTER THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. He literally mind-controlled a kid to put a card on someone's deck, so really...
-Is very spiteful. When he hates someone, he REALLY hates someone. He was ready to murder Yuugi during the DOMA arc (really, he got a card that would literally take the soul out of Yuugi's body if he got to win), so if that isn't enough proof I dunno what else is!

Haga stared at the Gym building intently for a couple seconds, before looking down at the Pokeballs hanging on his belt. He sighed and looked up at the Gym sign again.

    Violet City Gym.

At first Haga kind of expected Pokemon battles to feel similar to Duel Monster duels, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Dueling was far more slow paced and the fact it worked in turns gave him time to study the situation a lot better. And as much as he liked to think he was good at thinking fast, battling has shown him he was sorely mistaken. He wasn't the worst at battling by any means, but he wasn't exactly the best either.

He felt his fingers curl into tight fists. Maybe trying to do this whole gym challenge thing was a bad idea. Maybe he wasn't really cut for it...

Then his eyebrows furrowed. What was he thinking? Of course he could do it! He was brought to a completely new world, and no one knew anything about him here. No one knew of his failures, his missteps, his bad reputation... Sure, he had to start at the bottom, but didn't he start at the bottom back in Domino too before winning the National Championship? If he could be a National Champion back home, he could be a champion in this world too!

With renewed determination Haga smirked to himself, tapping the Pokeballs on his belt with the tip of his fingers. He wouldn't be so foolish as to make the same mistakes he did back in Domino. No way. He was going to take down those gyms one by one, and by the end of it all, his name would be in everyone's mouths. He would finally be praised and revered again, like he deserved.

Just imagining the people cheering for him once more like in the Nationals gave a spring to his step, as he swung open the doors to the gym, ready for his first major battle.

This new world better be ready for him as well.

Canon Resource Links: Wiki 1 Wiki 2 Wiki 3

⚠️ Spoilers for Crookedstar's Promise and Bluestar's Prophecy within!

Personality: From his earliest memory, Crookedkit - then Stormkit - has been ambitious, energetic, and a troublemaker. No border could hold him, no warrior could scold him, and like many young kits he determined quickly that he was going to one day be a legendary leader of RiverClan. His mother's adoration and high expectations for him and his brother fostered a thriving ego, though his brother and his older denmates were always eager to compete with him. As he grew and began to encounter the mysterious specter Mapleshade, her encouragements and promises of grand destiny would only serve to further feed his self-importance and his boldness. While this is of course a flaw for him as it often is for most, and happens to be a major contributing factor to the injury that changed his life, it also becomes something of a lifeline for him. His boldness makes him self-sufficient enough that, even in the face of his mother's hatred and rejection, he's able to not only pick himself up and carry on, but to continue to make bold choices. Not just any cat of such a young age, on the heels of such trauma, would choose to venture alone out of camp, never mind to go as far afield as Highstones.

As much as he does think highly of himself, though, Crookedkit is still very much a family cat. It's his persistent care for others and the sheer amount of love he has to give to those around him that ultimately renders Mapleshade's plotting useless. She worms her way into his heart and drags him through sorrow after sorrow, but even when Crookedstar himself succumbs to disease he remains assured that he is loved because throughout his life he loved others. It is this warmth and care for others that defines most first impressions of him in peaceful circumstances; even Bluestar was taken aback by his friendliness to complete strangers when they first met at the first Gathering she ever attended.

Crookedkit's love and pride meet to create extreme loyalty as well. If his openness and friendliness with Bluepaw was a surprise, his ferocity when they first encountered each other as enemies was an absolute shock. His boldness shines just as much when carrying himself as a protector of his Clan as it does when confronted with the unfamiliar, driving him to fight hard and never turn his back on his own. Even Rainflower, who turns so cruelly on him after his injury, he never gives up on mending things with. He strives for the betterment of his whole family and his whole Clan, even when confronted with rejection and discord. RiverClan is everything to him throughout his entire life, even when his promise to Mapleshade causes strife and tension for outsiders. It's not entirely clear in the text how much of Crookedstar's devotion to RiverClan stems from that promise, but even before he makes it there is almost nothing that comes before his Clan in his eyes.

Much of Crookedstar's character, however, is naturally shaped by the events of his life in the Clans - in coming to the pokemon world so young, there is every possibility that he will grow in very different ways, especially without Mapleshade's abuse clouding his mind. Though there is little doubt that wherever his adventures may go, Crookedkit's fierce passion and tremendous heart will have plenty of room to grow and thrive here, alongside all the crucial life lessons, relationships, and experiences that Mapleshade would have taken from him.

    Character
    Name: Hanako 'Rosalina' Nurumi
    Series: Original
Timeline: Ninth Life, shortly after Charlie is killed and an attempt on Rose's life is made.

    Original Character Background:
( cw: human trafficking, non-consensual violence, and mentions of suicide )

There are many people who believe that humanity is alone in the world. As one might have guessed, they are wrong. However, they are only partially wrong. Creatures like werewolves and vampires were human at one point. Just like many species, these abnormalities are genetic mutations that have occurred throughout humanity's existence. While there are plenty more of these mutations to speak of, vampires and werewolves are the most 'popular' and thus the most commonly represented in modern media. So, why is humanity partially right then in thinking they are alone in the world? It's because the scariest things that go 'thump' in the night aren't actually from their world. The world that they do come from is called many things across many different cultures. Some religious groups call it 'Hell.' The closest name to being accurate would be the Japanese lore of the Makai – the Demon World.

This world is connected to humanity's at several different points. Though, as one can imagine, it isn't exactly easy to find let alone pass through these points. Only those with an aptitude for energy manipulation and detecting the supernatural ( shamans, 'witches,' etc. ) are able to even think about tapping into the other side. It takes a lot of skill and determination to travel to the Makai. In fact, it usually requires the work of more than one person. What of the the yōkai, the demons? Don't they also try to cross the barriers that separate them and the human world? The answer, simply, is no. Not very often. Though humans and yokai used to co-exist, such a time has become history now. Humans taint the purity of their world and thus the demons keep to themselves.

The Makai is a primitive place. Things like electricity and running water that humans take for granted are reserved only for the most powerful demon lords. Many live off the land, hunting and gathering for food. However, most are content this way. They gain a sense of pride from living so in tune with nature. It is how they have gotten by for the entirety of their existence. Some things are becoming more 'modern' but those areas are isolated and, again, reserved for the elite. Being one with nature is in demon blood, it is at the very core of who they are. Many yōkai originated from animal spirits, after all.

They do not think of humanity or their world as being luxurious. Part of the reason why is because most demons see themselves as superior to humans. A good many demons are warriors with superhuman strengths and abilities. Humans do not even provide them a challenge. In fact, humans that venture to the Demon World are usually either enslaved or slaughtered before they have a chance to do much else. That is why humanity shifted from trying to get to the Makai to instead bringing yōkai to them. By performing rituals, humans discovered that they could summon forth demons from the points that connect to theirs and enslave them with the proper incantations or magically embedded chains. It wasn't an easy task but after enough trial and error, several groups of people throughout Japan became rather proficient at summoning otherworldly creatures. They would capture these demons and pit them against each other for their own entertainment and gain over one another.

It is the yōkai that are called monsters by humans. But it is humankind that is seen as nothing but a plague by the yōkai. Peace between the two worlds seems like an impossibility; yet, there are some who would like to believe differently. However, those that believe are few and far between. So, while peace isn't unobtainable it certainly is still a long, long way off.

Rose was born to the beta of a prestigious pack of okuri inu in the Hida mountains. It didn't take long before it was discovered that she was a 'defective' child. She was a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. While the girl had an aptitude for fighting and survival, she was weak in other ways that were unacceptable. The first time her father killed an elderly human that tripped on a mountain pass, she cried for him. No one had ever heard or seen an okuri inu with such empathy for people. It drove her mother to suicide and her father to try and kill her, claiming she should have been the one to die. Her pack alpha stopped her father and told her to run in a moment of mercy. She did and never looked back.

For nearly two hundred years, she roamed the Makai alone searching for a home she'd never known and likely wouldn't find. One day, a proposal was made to Rose in the form of an offer to live in the Ningenkai - the human realm - for no price. It was a deal too good be true but she took it anyway. As one might have imagined, it was a trap. She was enslaved in a to-the-death fighting ring for supernatural creatures like her for years. With her natural skill in battle and two hundred years in a fight for your life world of demons, she quickly became a champion: The Black Rose.

Her only solace was a friend in the man caged next to her named Ren Kazuki. He was a Japanese werewolf who had been the lead singer of a band before being captured. Through him, she gained a love of music that helped see her through the darkest times in the ring. Eventually, she was slated for a breeding program to bring rise to the next generation of champion fighters. Rose resigned herself to this fate but Ren wouldn't allow it. He plotted an escape, executed it, and lost his life in the process of making sure that Rose managed to get away. She took the lives of everyone on her way out in a fit of rage and grief.

Ren had instructed her before he passed to find a friend of his. The elderly witch gave Rose a handful of gifts: Ren's guitar, a glamour, and the news that she was a wanted woman all across Japan's underground demon-hunting population. She fled the country and arrived in America in 1988. It was still the height of Rock 'n' Roll and finding a job as a roadie was easy. It killed two birds with one stone; she could continue her love of music and live a life on the road to keep on the run from hunters perusing her. So she set out without a second thought.

After a few years, Rose thought maybe the search for her had gone cold. The year was 1999 and everything in life was going pretty fine. A new millennium was approaching and the world felt like it was turning over a new leaf. Maybe, Rose thought she could finally settle down. So she stayed in a sleepy town in Georgia for just a little over three months. She learned the hard way in the form of a woman named Roxanne that coming to a standstill wasn't an option. Roxanne was a rocker roadie just like Rose. She had huge dreams of being one of the biggest stars on stage in the 2000s. When she tried to take said stage with Rose as her guitarist, she was rewarded with a bullet between the eyes by a hunter that had gotten wind of the wolf woman in his city. Just as she had time and time again, Rose fled.

The next time Rose stopped running after Roxanne was 2018. It was the first time in three hundred years that she had met another yokai like her. He was a neko - a cat - by the alias of Charlie. Rose had never gotten to know his real name for he joked that after eight lives he hardly remembered who he was anymore. She'd come to learn in time he wasn't exactly like her. Instead of wanting to just live among humans, he desired to hurt them in a different way. He too was an escapee one of the fighting rings scattered across the world. He wanted the people that ran them to suffer the same way he and Rose had, to swing the pendulum the other way and have humans get a taste of the pain they'd inflicted on their kind. His fiery rage was stomped out by a bullet through his heart and his ninth life coming to an anticlimactic end. In the same breath, an attempt on Rose's life was made. As far as she knows, it was successful.

    Personality:
+ Above all things, Rose is adventurous. She isn't afraid to charge out on her own or headfirst for better or for worse. Almost nothing seems to be enough to deter the woman from doing what she wants to do.

+ She is also adaptable, resilient, and resourceful. Rose has been through a lot in her life but continues to keep going. When thrown into new situations, the woman does her best to immediately adapt to it to the best of her capability. This is shown through her independent travels through the Makai and learning to survive as a lone wolf, being thrust into a fighting ring and learning fast how to keep herself alive, and even joining humanity as she'd always dreamed and found ways to blend in and hide in plain sight.

+ She is also, for the most part, fairly intelligent. However, she is not analytical. Not really. Rose is known for snap judgments and decisions after a surface-level glance at her situations. Her strength is speed not just on her feet but also mentally. She has an aptitude for thinking fast... even if sometimes fast isn't all that's needed to get out of a situation unscathed.

    - Most of where Rose's weaknesses rest are within her own convoluted mental state due to all of what she's been through. So, her greatest weakness is believing that she is undeserving of just about anything. She isn't worthy of any goodness granted to her, especially not the people in her life that care about her. All she sees is a monster that isn't near worthy of things such as friendship or love. She doesn't understand why they care about her and even goes so far as to convince herself that they actually don't. Or, even worse, that they do but they'd be far better off without her. It is because of these beliefs that she ends up making extremely selflessly selfish decisions and hurting or disappointing them terribly.

    - To go along with that, Rose thinks only of herself, only of her suffering, and tends to take the weight of the world on her shoulders instead of seeking help when necessary. The blond lets things reach a breaking point that inevitably lead to the aforementioned bad decision-making. She holds a lot of negative thoughts and emotions inside behind her smiles and tries to deal with them on her own instead of confiding in others. She sees this not as harmful to herself but instead helping others; her problems aren't a burden anyone else should have to bear.

    - Finally, one of her strengths is a weakness of its own. Her quick thinking outside of do-or-die situations can lead to impulsive decisions that actually do more harm than good. She is quick to decide on something only to realize the repercussions of her actions after the fact. Though this can lead to some very fun, interesting situations it can also lead to very dramatic mistakes as well.

    Name: Lorenz Hellman Gloucester
    Series: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Timeline: Azure Moon: End of Chapter 16
Canon Resource Links: Lorenz Azure Moon Major Headcanons

Personality: At first blush Lorenz is rather grating. He seems shallow, pompous, and unremarkable. The same charm that many of the members of his class have is missing from the nobleman despite having the most refined upbringing, by far the highest status both politically and socially for his entire life. In the years following their time at the Academy Lorenz is faced with challenges and ever higher stakes for them.

While in his class' route he learns and grows from continued interactions with his classmates, developing into a better man and friend, without that binding figure of the Professor Lorenz... is something of a coward. With or without the Professor he is always something of a braggart. He does not have a shred of tact and will mention his name and status at every turn. He is rather reminiscent of a peacock, strutting around flashing the most extravagant of what he can offer a partner... Because it is what he has been taught his entire life is important. The most important thing. The only important thing.

Nothing about him is unique or valuable in any way, or so he's led to believe. His father is a ruthless, manipulative man that has no need for a son. Only an obedient heir that will ensure he and his House will excel no matter the cost. In routes where he is not recruited Lorenz is either never seen again, too well groomed by the Count to dare speak against him. Or, as in Azure Moon, when he does appear on the field he speaks of longing for the days at the Academy, free from his Father's influence, and insists that he has no choice but to fight for the Empire or die.

    And die he does.

Which is not to say he does not have the same capacity for change and improvement as he does in other routes. Even before his death his mannerisms are less abrasive, calmer and more refined. The very thing that he spent his youth brandishing in everyone's faces becomes a thing that brings him only shame. But the reasons he was so eager to sing his own praises, that need for acceptance and validation that he has never (will never) receive from his father, has not changed. But perhaps, without the toxic influence of The Count, he will be able to find it in him to grant himself that acceptance he yearns for.

    Character
    Name: Paul Atreides
    Series: Dune (2021)
    Timeline: Before the first movie
    Canon Resource Links: https://dune.fandom.com/wiki/Paul_Atreides/2021_film

Personality: The son of Duke Leto Atreides and Lady Jessica, Paul Atreides is the heir to a powerful royal House. As such, he received specialized training in combat, politics, and other skills he would need when inheriting his father's position as Duke and to survive in the dangerous environment of his universe's politics. As things played out, Paul had to take his father's place far earlier than either of them anticipated when House Atreides was betrayed to its enemies by the Emperor and both Paul and his mother stranded on the harsh desert planet of Arrakis.

As the ducal heir for his House, Paul carries a lot of responsibilities, and is well aware of the expectations that come with that role. He's also become increasingly aware that there's a larger destiny in place for him - and he also knows that it's not an entirely good one. He's uncertain about his role in events, and not entirely happy with it, but pushes forward with what his destiny seems to be.

Paul is highly intelligent, and used to being treated like and keeping pace with his adult mentors in conversation. He's learned to compensate for his relative lack of physical strength with agility, adaptability, and quick thinking. Despite his royal background, he isn't particularly snobby towards others and is respectful to people he comes across and works with, if somewhat distant. There's a more ruthless, fierce streak underneath his calm demeanor that doesn't come out often - unless pushed - but is frightening when it does.

    POSITIVES:

+ Paul is smart. He's quick-witted, able to form strategies on relatively short notice, and learn new skills with relatively little prompting from others. He's able to read people and pick up on social cues.

+ He is adaptable to new situations. He actively enjoys learning about and studying new cultures and locations, so it's likely he'll learn how to live in the world of Pokémon relatively fast.

+ Paul has a lot of personal charisma and is a natural leader. It's likely he'll be a very capable trainer once he's properly on his feet, and good at persuading others to follow his lead in an appropriate situation.

+ After everything back in his universe, Paul is difficult to scare. Whatever he sees or has to deal with in the Pokémon world, it's a safe bet that he's seen as bad or worse back home.

    NEGATIVES:

    - When sufficiently angered, Paul has a surprising and scary ruthless streak. He's not a Rocket, but his pragmatic, occasionally cold way of thinking can sometimes not be so different.

    - Paul sometimes overestimates his own control over a situation, and when he does screw up it tends to be very, very bad. In the Pokémon world, he might have too much faith in a strategy or assume he has something in hand when he doesn't.

    - As a duke's son, Paul grew up surrounded by palace intrigue and constant danger of assassination. As such, while not rude he tends to be cagey with other people. He can come off as cold and reserved to people he doesn't know.

    - At this canonpoint, Paul is still a little unsure of himself as a leader and will be reluctant to step up to the plate in a situation if another, more experienced candidate is available to take charge.

    Character
    Name: Iwaizumi Hajime
    Series: Haikyuu!!
Timeline: Chapter 369 before the first timeskip
    Canon Resource Links: Wiki Link

Personality: Tough but kind. Unless you're Oikawa.

Iwaizumi's attitude on his own is a simple one. He's a down-to-earth kind of guy. Reliable, loyal and a bit of a dork. He's there for his friends when they need him, making himself available to give advice in that calm way he has. His dorkiness comes out when something suddenly excites him, particularly monster movies and the like. Simple things that bring joy to his life, or things he knows he can later tease his bestfriend about.

With the team and others he is respectful, he isn't one to burn bridges because of a loss, he can accept and acknowledge the strengths of others. He sees it as just a reason for him to get stronger. As the co-captain of Aoba Johsai, his own team tend to look up to him for his support of them and the boosts he gives them to strive to be better. He pushes but knows the limits of his team, understands what they're capable of and, with his captain, do what it takes to bring out the best in them.

With Oikawa, however, all of the previous comments can be thrown out of the window. He has less patience for his bestfriend and captains antics and has been known to handle those antics with mild violence. Iwaizumi has been known to have something of a temper, and Oikawa knows just what buttons to press to ignite it. (He is the only one allowed to hit Oikawa.) But on the other hand he does care a great deal for his captain and does his best to be a rock for him when the other is having a hard time. He gets angry if Oikawa pushes himself too hard and will often yell at him to take better care of himself. Iwaizumi takes it almost as a personal mission to make sure that his bestfriend stays healthy and unhurt. This shows that, under the gruff and no-nonsense exterior, Iwaizumi cares deeply. Not only for his bestfriend, but for all of his friends. He just often hides it under a layer of snark.

    Name: Naoto Kurogane
    Series: Blazblue
    Timeline: Post Central Fiction
Canon Resource Links: https://blazblue.wiki/wiki/Naoto_Kurogane (tw: visual amputation in the biography tab of the link)
    Personality:
Naoto came from a life full of tragedy, but still manages to keep a smile on his face. The tragedies he faced shaped his thinking into one of total isolation, making sure he’s alone or else he starts fearing the worst if one were to know he even existed. This world view does not stem from a fear of being cursed, rather it’s because he’s too kind hearted to subject anyone to his sadness. From losing most of his family to his own sister at a young age, to becoming a vampire and a three-time amputee within the span of two months within his second year of high school, saying ‘he’s gone through a lot’ is a huge understatement. Because of this, he doesn’t allow anyone into his life easily—either they come willingly, like his cousin, or rather rudely crash in, like his master, Raquel.

If given the chance, Naoto will actively avoid crowds and any sort of interaction. He’s even the person who will sit there and think over how to respond instead of blurting anything out. However, he is capable of being social and acting like the stereotypical energetic type, but rarely any of his smiles reach his eyes. He does have a side of him where if pushed, will use a sharp tongue and his fiery temper to protect himself from anyone getting too close. It’s helped him keep everyone at arm’s length, unwilling to let anyone see just how much of an empty person he really is. (Because of his love of the otome visual novel genre, though, he does have a small hope that finding romance might help him recover. You’d have to pay him exorbitantly to even admit he loves the visual novel genre though.)

Because of the tragedies he’s faced, Naoto has a maturity one might have if they were well into the end years of his life. Naoto’s basic needs may have been covered through his aunt and cousin’s charity, but his emotional turmoil was left to fester, and he had to become his own therapist in order to cope. This was all done because of one of Naoto’s inheritances: the Eye of the Hunter. The eye’s ability was that it allowed him to see a person’s emotional and physical states in the form of a bright red number hovering over one’s head. This number allowed Naoto to see that whenever he dared to speak of his trauma, the number of the listener would drop, and because of Naoto’s kind hearted nature, he simply stopped, even if it meant ending a conversation in an awkward place. And because the eye is a secret to the entire world, Naoto can’t even speak about that.

Despite his guarded nature, he will gladly face the world with a smile, as it’s the only way he feels he can take it on. His greatest wish is to live a normal life, away from the chaos of what he has to deal with on the daily. To meet that goal, he feels as if he needs to put on a smile, before the world tears away even that. He will definitely be careful, but there isn’t anything he won’t face without the hope for a better future.

Starter: Litwick – Naoto’s canon ability, the Eye of the Hunter, is an ability that allows Naoto to find out how long someone has to live. Litwick’s Pokédex entry states that it often acts as a guide for others, even if it means draining one’s energy. Naoto often does not tell someone when they are close to death, but seeing as Litwick will guide anyone, Naoto will learn from the little candle.

    Character
    Name: Lucilius
    Series: Granblue Fantasy
Timeline: post-000, sealed in the dimensional rift
Canon Resource Links: https://gbf.wiki/What_Makes_the_Sky_Blue_III:_000 (GBF Wiki does have character pages, but they're fairly barebones for NPCs, so I linked the page for the event he's most prominent in. It includes a full transcript.)
    Personality:

Lucilius is heavily driven by the pursuit of knowledge. Other characters in the story who know him mention he would spend most of his time focusing solely on his research, and his fellow Astrals seemed to regard him as an oddball at best. In particular, he's fascinated with evolution to the point he created an entire species -- primal beasts -- in order to understand it, each one of them filling some sort of role integral to life. He also strives for perfection, owing to the fact he himself is an imperfect clone. His first and greatest creation, the Supreme Primarch Lucifer, was directly a result of Lucilius being subconsciously aware of his imperfection.

Additionally, he is extremely cold and callous to nearly all people, even fellow Astrals he addresses with the same kind of tone someone would use to describe someone they hate. But the one he's closest to, Lucifer, he speaks to earnestly and seems to hold in very high regard. In the same conversation he both speaks openly to Lucifer and refers to Sandalphon as one might talk about an animal, coldly dismissing him as a useless spare and being almost solely responsible for his breakdown. Despite that, he does seem to hold some respect for anyone who is willing to stand up to him. Towards the end of 000, he taunts Sandalphon and accuses him of not being a proper Supreme Primarch until he pushes himself to the limit.

Lastly, his endless desire for knowledge led him to the discovery that his people, the Astrals, and the races of mortals were driven to fight each other for so long solely because the god of his world was split in two, with the two halves fighting for dominance. In other words, the people were nothing but pawns, and in his eyes would never be free from the cycle unless all was brought to an end. So to that effect, he has countless plans to destroy the world, enough that the only way to stop him was to seal him in a rift between dimensions.

Despite not even being fully introduced until the final entry in the What Makes the Sky Blue trilogy, Lucilius is still an extremely important character to Granblue's backstory, and I'm very excited to bring him into the world of Pokémon.
