Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

meteorman: (Default)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-05-18 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Stanford Pines | [personal profile] meteorman
Badge/Gym Leader: Mineral Badge | Jasmine
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Fantastic Mr. Fox, Roswell, Scylla, Titania (all level 100)
Battle Details:

Because he was contractually obligated, Ford brought the Ninetales. Mr. Fox's first move will be to Will-o-Wisp to cripple Jasmine's Metagross and cut its sizeable attack stat. Then he'll be setting up a Sunny Day to put some extra oomph into his Fire moves on top of his Charcoal, and stick to Flamethrower with some of his other Fire moves thrown in for variety if he thinks he can chance the lower accuracy.

When the Bronzong comes in the first order of business will be to hit it with another Will-o-Wisp for some extra passive damage and then it's back to damaging moves. The one problem with Bronzong is that it knows Rain Dance and can put Mr. Fox in a tough spot with it, and it might also have Heatproof, so should either of those scenarios be true Ford will swap Mr. Fox out for Roswell instead. Her Shadow Ball should do just fine against the Bronzong, especially in combination with the burn damage.

Scylla is out next against the Skarmory. Ford expects Jasmine to use her first turn to set up Spikes: it's what he would do. He's going to use that first turn to Coil. Then it's Ice Moves for the Skarmory until it folds and she can start in on the Steelix with her heavy arsenal of Water type moves. If she can afford to set up another Coil she will, but should her health dip alarmingly she'll be Baton-Passing out into Titania and passing off those boosts. Even one Coil-boosted Earthquake is gonna be real bad news for an already-damaged Steelix, but Ford fully expects having to pull off two to actually break through its wildly high defense. There's a reason he chose Titania, whose defense is none to shabby -- she can even use a turn to Rapid Spin away those Spikes.

Titania is staying in against the Magnezone. If it has Magnet Pull she'll have no choice. Luckily it doesn't Levitate, so she can just hit it with a quad-effective Earthquake and ruin its life. The ideal is that it does have Magnet Pull, in fact, because then he won't have to deal with Sturdy dragging things out. Either way, Roswell is back out again to finish things off against the Empoleon. There's not much a Bronzong could have done to her in the grand scheme of things, and if she's coming in with less-than-stellar health she can Recover. Then it's a simple matter of hitting the Empoleon with a Thunderbolt or two to wrap things up.

Team: his current team!
Battle Details: While he'll start with Torracat, he'll gradually switch out between his team for some simple buffs and effects (Icy Wind, Eerie Impulse, etc) but ultimately he'll focus on using Vulpix and Fletchinder for the bulk of the attacks. He'll occasionally use Torracat for her Ember and Fire Fang, and Honedge for Aerial Ace and Retaliate. When the fight gets dire close to the end, he'll start using Vulpix's Confuse Ray and Hex.

Character: Krieg | [personal profile] fuelthefire
Badge/Gym Leader: Fog Badge / Morty
Elite/Regular: Regular!
Team: Blaziken, Charizard, Muk, Electrode, Exploud, and Aggron
Battle Details: Since Krieg doesn't really have any type advantages for this fight he'll be exploiting his Exploud's immunity to Ghost-type moves and her Dark-type Crunch attack. As backup he'll rely on the higher levels of his team members and brute-force it with fire, flying, and electric moves from his hard-hitters Charizard and Electrode.

Battle Details: This is the first badge Harry has gone for and he has a limited team. Luckily his team is pretty powerful due to him being here for a while. So he's going to use Lisa, Falkor and Dally as his main attack team. With Locked added as support and will be looking for ways to move things in their favour during the battle.

Battle Details: As luck would have it, Thida has a team perfectly suited for decimating Fighting Type Pokemon. Not only is her entire team at a level advantage, but Maika, Buru, and Banba all have typings and moves that are very effective against the Fighting type, and can likely sweep Chuck's team by themselves. Judd will likely face off against his Poliwrath however, where he has advantage against its Water typing, and Majo is mostly for backup should things go south for any reason.

Team:
Ripley | Growlithe (Lv. 84)
Vasquez | Absol (Lv.66)
Casey | Rattata (Lv.66)
Hudson | Cubone (Lv.49)

Battle Details:

Vasquez is there because one of the pokemon is weak to dark types. Another is strong against them though, so Newt is going to be careful how she puts the Absol in the fight. She doesn't have any other type strengths so she's going with her stronger pokemon. Ripley will take the lead with Casey and Hudson working together to take the others down.

They will try to take down the fairy type first so that Vasquez won't have to worry as much when she fights.

Badge/Gym Leader: Jasmine for the Mineral Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team: Dinah, Poirot, August, Bettina, Madeline, Ramsay (all lv 100)
Battle Details: Considering that Jane's entire team is at lv 100 and she will primarily rely on August the Delphox and his Fire typing, she'll only use the other Pokemon in emergency, likely Madeline against Skarmory or Steelix if needed. There's going to be a lot lot lot of fire going on. Gonna melt those suckers down.

Battle Details: It's Spark Ball's time to shine! The Electrode will be in charge of zapping the heck out of Dewgong and Lapras. If it needs help, Krieg will use Whisper Bunny as a backup, but given the type matchup, chances are pretty high SB's got this. When it's the Mamoswine's turn, Krieg will swap out Murder Chicken for that sweet, sweet 2x Fire/Fighting damage.
meteorman: (61 | look i dont show this to everyone)

[personal profile] meteorman 2018-06-27 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Stanford Pines | [personal profile] meteorman
Badge/Gym Leader: Storm Badge | Chuck
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Claudia, Roswell, Destroying Angel, all level 100.
Battle Details: This is it. Last one. Here we go.

Like a smart person, Ford is going to bring a Flying type to a Fighting gym. Like a dumb person, he is going to send Claudia the Crobat out against Chuck's Psychic Medicham. He's going to U-Turn quickly out into Roswell, who has both Flying type Hidden Power and Shadow Ball at her disposal. Then it's Calm Mind and Psychic to take out the Machamp, with a Recover thrown in if she needs it. He plans to keep going like that through the Hariyama as well, slowly boosting Roswell's Special Attack when he can and healing her when necessary. Her Flying Type Hidden Power should also cut through the Breloom and its low special defense like a wet paper towel, especially if she's had a chance to use a couple of Calm Minds by that point. If not, he has Claudia's many Flying type moves ready for the Breloom instead.

Chuck's Primeape is capable of learning several Dark Type moves that could make things difficult for Roswell, so he'll be bringing in Destroying Angel against it instead. It'll be difficult sacrificing Roswell's stat boosts, but she'll likely be low on Recovers by then and swapping her out will be for the best. Destroying Angel will set up an Ingrain and then use a similar strategy to the one Ford employed against Morty: Sleep Powder, followed by Dream Eater -- unless the Primeape has Vital Spirit. In that case she'll stick with Moonblast supplemented by Strength Sap to regain health when needed.

Because of the Ingrain she'll be obligated to stay in against the Toxicroak until she faints or takes it down, so Ford's strategy will be to continue to Strength Sap. It won't do any damage, but it will cripple Toxicroak's high Attack stat. Ford will get it as low as he can before Destroying Angel gets taken down, and given that both it and the Ingrain will be healing her he will probably be able to get it far enough that Claudia can come back in and destroy it with a Fly or two without having to worry taking much damage.

LAST BADGE

[personal profile] foolishwren 2018-06-29 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Heather Mason | [personal profile] foolishwren
Badge/Gym Leader: Blue / Earthbadge
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Roster Link. Heather will be bringing her whole #1 fully-realized battle team: Godzilla the Feraligatr, Alessa the Absol, Carousel the Rapidash, Tricia the Manectric, Val Jr. the Hitmonchan, and Sunny the Togekiss. All level 100.
Battle Details: THIS IS EXCITING. For the first time ever she doesn't have to stockpile a gym team based solely on having five Pokemon that all know Fire moves for no good reason! Now, Heather could go for a straightforward type advantage strategy-- she certainly has the type coverage. But this is the last badge. And for all that she's grown since arriving, she wouldn't be Heather Mason if she didn't have something to prove.

Rather than stack the odds in her own favor by pitting her fire against Blue's grass, electric against water, etc, she wants to prove she really is the very best, like no one ever was.

So against Venusaur, she'll be sending out Val Jr.-- while not weak to it, Fighting isn't particularly stellar against Grass-types. Val does, however, have Ice Punch and Fire Punch, along with some powerful Normal-type moves.

Against Charizard, it's fire vs. fire with Carousel. A land-bound Pokemon against something wings may not always be the best idea, but 1. Carousel can Bounce and 2. Heather happened to pick up a Wild Charge TM in Vermilion City for this very purpose. Enjoy your Flying Type with a side of a billion volts, you fake dragon.

For Blastoise, Godzilla will take the helm. Unlike Carousel, he doesn't know any unexpected super-effective attacks against his own type, but he is a pillar of muscle with strong offensive moves that will work just fine-- Crunch, Dragon Pulse, Shadow Claw, Superpower... Heather's confident that her croc can take on Gun Turtle and show everybody what a REAL water-type can do.

Pidgeot gets to face Sunny, whose versatile moveset has won Heather many a Gym-battle. She's not as agile a flyer as the Pidgey line is, but Twister will throw a monkey wrench into any attempts to Fly its way out of trouble, and Ancientpower should seal the deal. Why kill two birds with one stone when you can kill just the other guy's bird with many stones? Wisdom.

Against Jolteon will be another speedy electric canine-- like Zilla, Tricia doesn't know any moves that directly counter her own type. But she is fast, smart, and should Blue make the mistake of having Jolteon use any electric moves, her Lightningrod ability will soak them up to fuel her other special attacks like Signal Beam and Flamethrower.

Last but not least, Tyranitar will have the terrible good fortune of facing the dark-type Alessa. Since earning an Absolite last year, Heather honestly hasn't utilized Mega Evolution very much. It seems like a waste of energy to bust it out for every ye olde random battle on the road, and all the times it COULD have been useful seemed to happen whenever Alessa wasn't right by her side. But for her sixteenth badge? You bet she's gonna bust out that magnificent Mega Absol with a quadruple-effective Superpower attack to end the night with motherf***ing bang.

Badge x 2

[personal profile] schachmeister 2018-07-04 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Armin Arlert | [personal profile] schachmeister

Badge/Gym Leader: Brock / Pewter City / Boulder badge
Elite/Regular: Regular team
Team: Boris the Dewpider (lvl 40); Gus the Shiinotic (lvl49); Bastian the Kingler (lvl 60);
Battle Details:

Rhyhorn (lvl 30) VS Dewpider (lvl 40)

Armin will start this fight off with Boris his Dewpider. Now, Dewpider does have a weakness to ground attacks, and Rhyhorn is partially a ground type, but Boris has a little trick up one of his six sleeves (spider pokemon don’t have eight legs. This is weird). You see, Boris’ ability is Water Bubble. This means any water type move is doubled in power. In addition to this, Boris knows the move Rain Dance. This will increase the power of any water type moves by an additional 50%. And as Boris is holding a Damp Rock, this will increase the duration of Rain Dance to eight turns.

So, that is the standard move damage + STAB damage (as he is a water type) + the doubled damage from his Water Bubble ability + the increased power of the rain. For eight turns.

Of, and this is on top of Rhyhorn’s 4x weakness to water type attacks.

I am sorry, this technique is vile and cruel and Armin loves it.

So, anyway. Boris will enter the field and immediately use Rain Dance. After that, the whole strategy will basically be to spam the most powerful water type moves he knows. This will be Surf and Bubblebeam until Rhyhorn goes down.

Golem (lvl 32) VS Dewpider (lvl 40)

Next up is Golem. Chances are that Boris will still be out (perhaps a little battered and bruised, but still there). If it is still raining, he will immediately go back to using power water type moves. If the rain stops, he will switch to using Rain Dance to bring it out again, before going back to the watery, watery destruction.

Onix (lvl 35) VS Shiinotic (lvl 49)

Now, it is possible Boris is still standing at this point. But as Armin is a big softy who doesn’t want his pokemon to fight to the death faint, he’ll withdraw him and bring out Gus the Shiinotic. Onix has a 4x weakness to grass type moves, and Gus is a grass type.

He’s also really kind of creepy with his long, long fingers and staring dark eyes and the fact that he doesn’t make a single sound, but hopefully Onix won’t be bothered by that.

Anyway, the strategy for Gus will be rather simple. It is called Giga Drain. Which he will basically us non-stop (well, five turns, at least) on Onix, both damaging it and healing himself. Should the fight last more than five turns, Gus will downgrade to using Mega Drain. And finally to Absorb should it come to that. Also, one important note: Gus’ ability is Effect Spore. This means that should Onix use any physical attacks against it, it may be poisoned/paralysed/put to sleep.

Armin will also be bringing Bastian the Kingler to this gym in case something goes terribly wrong somewhere.

Badge/Gym Leader: Blue / Viridian City / Earth Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular team
Team: Octavius the Dhelmise (lvl 75); Amadeus the Noctowl (lvl 100); Circinus the Voltorb (lvl 100); Pallas/Perses the Binacle (lvl 70);
Battle Details:

Exeggutor ( lvl 65) VS Dhelmise (lvl 75)

Going to start strong against Exeggutor with Octavius the Dhelmise.

Exeggutor is weak to ghost attacks. Dhelmise not only is a ghost type, but it is also resistant to grass type attacks, which covers one of Exeggutor’s types.

Armin will be focussing on Dhelmise’s ghost type attacks. This means he’ll mostly be using Astonish (30% chance of making its target flinch), Phantom Force (user vanishes on one turn before striking the next, even if a target protects itself) and Shadow Ball (20% chance of lowering spell def). He will stay on this strategy until Exeggutor goes down.

Machamp (lvl 66) VS Noctowl (lvl 100)

For the next match, Armin will withdraw his Dhelmise and instead bring out his Noctowl Amadeus.

Machamp is a fighting type and as such is weak to psychic type moves. Noctowl has no particular weaknesses to Machamp and knows several psychic type moves.

Armin will first attempt to put Machamp to sleep using Amadeus’ Hypnosis (60% chance of sleep). Once he is asleep, Amadeus will either us Dream Eater (if it has any lost HP to heal) or Psychic (10% chance of loving spcl def). If Machamp wakes up, Amadeus will switch to using Hypnosis again. Should Machamp deal any significant damage to Amadeus that he cannot heal just from using Dream Eater, Armin will order the Noctowl to use Roost to restore its HP. And then it is back to the ol’ Hypnosis -> Dream Eater/Psychic combo. He might also toss in a random Confusion (10% chance of confusion) or Extrasensory (10% chance of flinch) until Machamp goes down.

Rhydon (lvl 67) VS Dhelmise (lvl 75)

For this match, Armin will withdraw Noctowl and bring his Dhelmise back out again. Should Dhelmise be significantly injured from his previous match, Armin will use the first turn to heal him.

Now, for this match, Armin won’t be depending on Octavius’ ghost type attacks. Rather, Rhydon has weakness to steel attacks and 4x weakness to grass type attacks. Octavius is a Dhelmise, so he is part grass type. In addition, he has the ability Steelwork, which means his steel type attacks are boosted by 50%

For this match, Armin will first focus on having Octavius use his grass-type moves. This means Power Whip and Energy ball (10% chance of lowering spcl def). Additionally, should Octavius start losing HP, he’ll throw in a Giga Drain or two to replenish that. And he’ll keep it up until Rhydon goes down.

Gyarados (lvl 68) VS Voltorb (lvl 100)

For this match, Armin will withdraw Octavius and bring out Circinus the Voltorb.

This one is really a no brainer. Gyarados, the poor thing has 4x weaknesses to Electricity. Circinus, being a voltorb, is all electricity.

Armin doesn’t really have a fancy strategy for this one. The plan is simply to hit quick and hit hard. He’ll be using thunder on Blue’s Gyarados until it goes down.

Pidgeot (lvl 69) VS Voltorb (lvl 100)

Armin will leave Circinus into play for this match. Pidgeot might not be as weak to electricity as Gyarados was, but still, pretty weak.

Again, no fancy strategy for this match. Just hit the bird hard and fast with every heavy electric attack he can think of.

Arcanine (lvl 70) VS Binacle (lvl 70)

For the final match, Armin will withdraw Circinus (good job, buddy) and bring out his final pokemon: Pallas/Perses the Binacle.

Arcanine is weak to both Rock and Water. Binacle is a rock and water type. So not only does Binacle have the two types Arcanine is weak too, in addition, Binacle is very resistant to both Fire and Normal attack, which is most of Arcanine’s roster.

Seeing as this is the final fight, Armin is going to pull out all the stops, knowing he won’t need to face another pokemon after this. To start off, Armin will have his Binacle use Rock Polish to boost its speed. After doing this twice, he’ll switch to having Binacle use Razor Shell, hoping it will lower Arcanine’s defence. Once that is done, here comes the Clamp, With the boosted speed, he hopes Binacle will be able to get the drop on Arcanine, thereby making it unable to attack while it gets clamped down on. And with Arcanine’s lowered defence and weakness, he hopes for a good bit of damage from this. He’ll keep on using these attacks, along with Ancient Power and surf until Arcanine is defeated.

Should Arcanine manage to defeat Binacle, Armin will try to finish off the fight either with his Voltorb or his Noctowl, mostly depending on their superior levels.

Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Whole team is here. Grace the Gothorita, Ginger the Houndoom, and Cheeks the Pachirisu
Battle Details: Anna was maybe a little lax in getting her badges while she was staying in Goldenrod, so when she and Chloe headed out of town, she decided to make a pit stop at the Goldenrod Gym and tackle Whitney on the way. She brought Grace, who evolved recently into a Gothorita, to take down Whitney's Girafarig, and Ginger the Houndoom for Clefable. They're closer in level, so even if Whitney's Pokemon burn through them, Anna still has Cheeks the Pachirisu to take down that Miltank with his higher-level moves.

Badge/Gym Leader: Morty
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Effie the Pumpkaboo, Grace the Gothorita, Ginger the Houndoom
Battle Details: Anna goes into battling Morty with a mixture of fear and confidence; she knows type matchups against Ghost and Psychic types can be tricky, but she's also pretty sure she's brought the right Pokemon for the job. She takes Ginger in first to go up against Haunter with his strong Feint Attack and Crunch. Grace gets to go up against Misdreavus, using her Ghost-type moves to wear the Misdreavus down before sending out Effie the Pumpkaboo if necessary. Effie will then go up against Gengar.

Character: Envy | [personal profile] exeggutorhead
Badge/Gym Leader: Earth Badge/Blue
Elite/Regular: Elite Team
Team: Chimera, Ouroboros, Xerxes, Lucky, Juliet, Izumi
Battle Details: This time around, Envy is much better prepared...and still to this day feeling spiteful over his previous loss. So while he has type advantages and a balanced team, and intends to play to that, he's also going to be an ass about making it the most frustrating battle for Blue possible. He'll open with Lucky against Venusaur, immediately slamming down Embargo, followed by Spite in case Venusaur did have a good move to use (and if so, continuing with Spite until that move is gone), and then a few Nasty Plots. Assuming that type advantage and speed will keep Lucky from being knocked out, he'll end it with a powered up Inferno. If that doesn't do it, he'll follow with Beat Up.

Against Blastoise, he'll switch to Xerxes and lay down Electric Terrain, and follow that up with Swagger and three Flashes, just to make sure that even if Blastoise isn't hurting itself it's still probably not gonna hit. On the last turn before the terrain fades, he'll use Volt Switch to pull in Izumi. If Blastoise is still standing, Izumi has any number of strong Grass moves to take it out with.

Izumi's Grass type is what he's hoping will get Blue's Charizard put out on the field, at which point Envy will switch in Juliet. He'll use Acid Armor to protect against the physical attacks that would do more damage, and Aqua Ring too. He'll use a Whirlpool to do some continuous damage...and then begin the Sand Attacks, replenishing Whirlpool when it runs out. If she takes too much damage even after the accuracy lowering, he'll have her use Rest and Sleep Talk. This should take Charizard out eventually. If Juliet faints during all this messing around, Chimera will be sent out to finish the job with Rock Slide.

Whether or not Juliet faints, Envy will use Chimera against Jolteon. Chimera's ability will automatically start Sandstorm, and he'll put down Stealth Rock as well before hitting Jolteon with Toxic, and a few Scary Faces to get that HP down and also slow it down to make it easier for Chimera to aim at. Because instead of a ground move, Envy actually intends to have Chimera finally attack and score a dramatic KO with an at this point maxed out Return.

Assuming Blue's Tyranitar comes out next, Envy will actually leave Chimera in briefly for the sake of a big green dino fight, using Rock Smash to knock some HP off. But Envy knows that he'll be weak to the Ground type moves that Blue will probably get a heavy hit in with before Chimera uses Dragon Tail to knock it out and drag in Pidgeot instead to get hit with Stealth Rock. Since Chimera likely did take a lot of damage even from the one turn, Envy will switch out to Ouroboros. Attract and Glare will make it difficult for Pidgeot to do much against her, and from there she'll wear it down with poison type moves. If Pidgeot does start landing hits anyway, he'll have her finish things with Thunder Fang.

When Tyranitar comes back out, it's Izumi's turn again, and Envy will tell her to go for it, which means no more messing around and straightforward Grass Knot--at this point, it should only take one of those to finish the fight.

Krieg will be leaning on type advantages where he can get them, as usual, but at least half of his strategy for this one will also be about avoiding type disadvantage. He'll be hitting Clair's Gyarados up with his Electrode's various electric attacks. He'll keep Spark Ball out to take on the Kingdra, with his Muk and Exploud in reserve for poison and physical damage as needed. Lastly, his Aggron will stand front and center for the fight with Dragonite and smack it around with rock-type moves. Slag Stack and Whisper Bunny will again be in reserve should it take more than one 'mon to get the KO.

Little Dipper (lv. 40)

Tabby Puss (lv. 34)

Battle Details:
FIRST GYM BATTLE EVER!!!

Mabel and her team are super excited and ready to throw down with Brock and his crew. (Which is why they're coming in with matching sweaters like bosses.)

As soon as the match starts, Mabel is going to bring Banjo out and have him use Mud-Slap first chance he gets followed by Mudshot the second round. (Assuming he manages to hold out. He's a tough little guy but he's much lower level than Brock's Pokemon.) If he makes it those two rounds, Mabel's going to pull him out and toss in Little Dipper who will use Swift first followed by Take Down on 'his' next turn! This will hopefully take the Rhyhorn out which means next up is the Golem!

Mabel's going to leave Little Dipper in to start, having 'him' use Swift again before having her best little buddy use Confuse Ray! This will be where she switches in Tabby Puss who is going to attack with Fake Out on his first turn which will cause the Golem to switch, sparing Tabby a hit the first round. From here he's going to attack with a one-two combo over the next two rounds using Feint Attack and Slash to hopefully put the Golem down, toughing out the onslaught of the other Pokemon's attacks because of his affection for Mabel.

And then there's Onix.

Saving her best for last, Mabel is going to have Jungle Jim take on Brock's last Pokemon because she knows that her Tropius has the advantage here! (She's been reading!!!) She's going to have Jim use Razor Leaf first before having him slamming the poor Onix with a Leaf Tornado--if it comes to it.

After that match, win or lose, Mabel has a present for Brock!!! She made him a sweater with a bunch of rocks on it that says "You ROCK!" on it. (She worked on it the whole way through Viridian Forest~) \o/

Battle Details:
Starting off against the Noctowl, Bean is going to immediately use Defense Curl to boost her own defense followed by Screech to lower her opponent's since she doesn't have anything that's super effective against Flying types. From there she's going to use Body Slam twice in a row in order to take this bird out of the game.

At the start of the next round Noctis is going to use a potion on Bean to be on the safe side, since she is the only Pokemon he's got in this race. Afterwards he'll have her use Screech again to knock the Honchkrow's defense down some before using her third turn to strike with Surf.

Once the Honchkrow is down and their final opponent is out, Noctis will use a Hyper Potion he bought this time before having Bean use Screech twice in a row this time for a double hit to the Pidgeot's defense stat. Saving her strongest move for the Pidgeot, Bean's going to use Hyper Beam against the final bird foe in hopes of taking it out with one shot.

Character: Stanford Pines | [personal profile] meteorman
Badge/Gym Leader: Cascade Badge | Misty
Elite/Regular: Elite
Team: Fantastic Mr. Fox, Munchies, Claudia, Phoebe, all level 100
Battle Details: There's no reason for Ford to be here. He already has the Cascade Badge. He just wants to beat Misty's real team (her full Elite team) as a final test before he's ready for the Indigo Plateau, and he mostly intends to have fun with this battle rather than treating it super seriously.

Which is why he's starting with Ninetales. Hopefully the cameras are recording, because Ninetales Guy is back at it again in the Krispy Kreme. This time Mr. Fox is a lot better-equipped for dealing with Misty's Pokémon thanks to a host of new moves. The very first thing he's going to do is set up a Sunny Day. His base speed of 100 compared to Quagsire's measly 35 means it'll be halving the power of Quagsire's water moves before Quagsire even has a chance to hit him, and then the single-turn Solar Beam he can use on the next turn should hit Quagsire's quad weakness to grass right where it hurts. He's also faster than Lanturn and will be making full use of those turns of Sunny Day to Solar Beam the Lanturn down quickly as well.

Unfortunately Mr. Fox does lose a speed contest with Floatzel, so Ford will be swapping him out for Munchies before he can get knocked out. The thing about Munchies the Snorlax is that he knows Thunderbolt. He won't be going first but his HP is obnoxiously high so he can take several hits from the Floatzel while whittling it down. Lapras, though, is just as bulky and faster and Ford will be swapping Munchies out for Claudia when it comes in-- guess who also knows Sunny Day? It's Claudia! Lapras's water attacks will be halved in strength, allowing Claudia to chip away at its bulk with Toxic and 110 power Acrobatics (thanks to her lack of held item). Unfortunately Lapras is also an Ice Type and Claudia is weak to its ice moves, so she may need to take some turns using Roost to keep her health up while letting Toxic whittle the Lapras down.

Milotic is also incredibly bulky and possessed of a good host of Ice Moves, so just like with Mr. Fox, Claudia's last job will be refreshing the Sunny Day before she faints. Phoebe is going to be taking over. Phoebe can match Milotic in bulk and scope of moveset. She's going to use her first move to Cosmic Power, raising her defense while allowing the Toxic Orb she holds poison her. With her Magic Guard ability this means she won't take any damage from being poisoned and can't be hit with any other status effect because she already has one. Then it's time for some Science: Phoebe is going to use Charm. It's a gamble, but the outcome Ford wants is to see the Milotic get its boost from Competitive because that means it doesn't have Marvel Scale. If that's the case she's going to use Bestow to toss that Toxic Orb onto the Milotic, who doesn't have Magic Guard and will have to deal with that poison damage. However if the Milotic does have Marvel Scale then Ford is going to have Phoebe use another Cosmic Power and then Moonblast for the STAB and in hopes of lowering Milotic's special attack back down again. Once she starts to get into real danger HP-wise Ford is going to have her use Healing Wish… on Mr. Fox. He can come in, use his superior speed to Energy Ball Milotic into next week, and then set up a Sunny Day again to help him against the Starmie. That Starmie. That fucking Starmie. It's faster than him, he can't Captivate it-- but he can hit it with a super-effective dark type Payback that's guaranteed to be doubled in power because he's guaranteed to go second, and that's not too shabby. Once the Starmie is down to low enough health Mr. Fox can finish it off with a Quick Attack, and that should be that.

Character: Heather Mason | [personal profile] foolishwren
Badge/Gym Leader: Elite 4
Elite/Regular: we're all elite here
Team: FULL ROSTER. For these battles, Heather will be using: Alessa the Absol (holding Absolite), Godzilla the Feraligatr (wearing an Assault Vest), Carousel the Rapidash (holding Charcoal), Tricia the Manectric (holding Brightpowder), Sunny the Togekiss (wearing Wise Glasses), and Val Jr. the Hitmonchan (wearing an Expert Belt).
Battle Details: FIRST OFF, Heather will be coming prepared with as many Hyper Potions, Full Restores, and Revives as she can afford. She generally doesn't like using them in the middle of a battle (and only would if the alternative was a certain loss), but she does NOT want to face any of her opponents with her team starting at anything less than full health.

OPPONENT 1: Will

Despite having a Dark-type at her disposal, Heather will actually approach this battle leading with Tricia the Manectric, aiming to take out as many of Will's Pokemon as possible in an all-out offensive. Flamethrower to melt Bronzong and Jynx, Iron Tail against Gardevoir, Signal Beam against Grumpig, and her wide spread of Electric-type moves to dispatch Slowbro and Xatu. Heather's not one to rely on buffs or status effects if she can avoid it, but Tricia's got a few tricks up her sleeve. Like blitzing any Pokemon that seems to be particularly dangerous with a quick Thunder Wave followed by as many Flashes as it takes to dent their ability to actually make a hit. Her held item, Brightpowder, will also help in this endeavor.

Still, knocking out six opponents is a big task for just one Pokemon-- should Tricia get knocked out without finishing Will's team off, Alessa the Absol will be right behind her, hopefully with one last successful Thunder Wave from Tricia to make the job easier. Equipped to handle just about everything but the Gardevoir (#pray2nephelis that Tricia was able to take care of that one) with a good solid Swords Dance-boosted Sucker Punch, Alessa also has both her other Dark-type moves and X-Scissor to combat the rest of Will's psychics. And, in a pinch, there's even Thunder and Icy Wind in case Slowbro and/or Xatu are still standing.

Between the two of them, Heather expects to sweep Will's team without too much trouble--but just in case, Carousel the Rapidash (fire-type moves for Bronzong and Jynx, and Sunny Day + Solar Beam for Slowbro) and Godzilla the Feraligatr (Crunch and Shadow Claw for all around anti-psychic goodness) are waiting in the wings.

OPPONENT 2: Koga

Defeating Koga will primarily be a team effort between Alessa and Carousel-- although Alessa's Psychic-type moves make her an ideal choice for lead 'mon against Koga's Poisons, her vulnerability to Bug moves make it a risky choice, too. But then, Heather's never been one to back away from risks! Because the battle is likely to involve a lot of switching, she's going to try and avoid doing anything with too much set-up until the coast is clear for Alessa to sweep up.

Carousel will be sent out first, primarily to dispatch Skuntank with Drill Run-- and will likely be sent out again to deal with Venomoth and Crobat (as much as she'd love Alessa to Zen Headbutt that thing to death, it's faster and has X-Scissor so :T). Fire Blast and Wild Charge will work nicely there.

Once those three are taken care of, there's nothing standing in Alessa's path. Swords Dance and Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut can easily dispatch Swalot, Muk, and Toxicroak, even if Toxicroak is lucky enough to get a super-effective Fighting-type move in there. Not to mention, she has Bounce now. So, like, y'know. Bye creepy assassin frog.

If all else fails, Tricia will be around to utilize Flamethrower against Venomoth and zap Crobat into submission.

OPPONENT 3: Bruno

This time, Sunny the Togekiss gets to open the battle. Like with the fight against Will, Sunny's goal is to take out as many of Bruno's Pokemon as possible before passing the reins over to Val Jr. the Hitmonchan.

She's got quite the arsenal at her disposal, with a Fly, Dazzling Gleam, and Psychic all packing a (Wise Glasses-powered in the case of the latter two) punch against Bruno's fighters. Sweet Kiss, Charm, and Yawn can throw a wrench in the gears too if need be.

The only iffy one in the bunch is Lucario, whose Steel-type spells trouble for Sunny. This is where Val comes in with Fire Punch and an array of Fighting-type moves to duke it out. And, you know, if Val should happen to have the chance to fight Bruno's Hitmonchan and win, well that would just make his day.

Carousel is also available should Val's efforts not be enough, and can swoop in with Flame Charge to knock out whatever fight Lucario has left, and Bounce against any remaining opponents.

OPPONENT 4: Karen

Being a Fighting type, it's no surprise that Val is the lead in this fight. With no significant weakness to Weavile, he'll open the battle by boosting his speed with Agility (at least once, but maybe even twice if he can afford it) before dispatching it with a 4x super-effective Sky Uppercut. With such a high speed, and with his Expert Belt boosting super-effective moves, he's in a good position to take out the vast majority of Karen's Pokemon-- even Honchkrow, thanks to Rock Slide. As for Spiritomb, immune to Fighting-type attacks, Val has Fire, Ice, and Thunder Punch at his disposal.

Should he be taken down at any point, the rest of Heather's team can clean up after him: Godzilla the Feraligatr has water-moves for Houndoom and Ice Fang for Honchkrow, Carousel has Drill Run for Houndoom and Weavile and Wild Charge for Honchkrow, Tricia has Signal Beam for any pure Dark-types, and of course Sunny can wipe out almost any of them with a well-placed Dazzling Gleam.

OPPONENT 5: Lance

For most of the fight so far, Godzilla has largely been waiting in the wings. But like in Heather's battle against Claire for the Rising Badge, now it's his time to shine!

Zilla doesn't really have "non-offensive" moves, which means his Assault Vest is perfect to keep him toughened up while he wages an all-out war on Lance's dragons. A few vicious Ice Fangs should be enough to take out Salamence, Altaria, and Garchomp. Meanwhile, he also has Outrage and Dragon Pulse if the ice isn't enough.

However, Heather knows full well that at least one of Lance's Pokemon is likely to have Electric-type attacks, and wants to be prepared if Godzilla should be knocked out of the fight. She fully intends to withdraw him in the event of Outrage confusion and replace him with Tricia for Gyarados, and Sunny with Ancient Power for Charizard and Dazzling Gleam for any of the true Dragons.

Should all else fail, she's saved one last secret weapon.

However grueling the previous matches were, the one tactic she's made sure not to use all along is Mega Evolution, because she wanted to save it for where it counted. If it comes down to just Lance's beloved Dragonite, Alessa will utilize her Absolite, coming onto the field as a Mega with Double Team to boost her evasion. Then Icy Wind to slow Dragonite down and Will-o-Wisp to hurt it and lower its defenses. And then it's time to go in for the kill with a fully-powered Return until victory is in her jaws.

Character: Envy | [personal profile] exeggutorhead
Badge/Gym Leader: Elite Four
Elite/Regular: ELITE
Team: Chimera (holding Tyranitarite), Lucky (holding Blackglasses), Xerxes (holding King’s Rock), Juliet (holding Wise Glasses), Izumi (holding Quick Claw), Samus (holding Lum Berry)
Battle Details:

WILL

Lucky and Chimera are going to be the main players in this fight for obvious reasons, and Envy uses status effects like confusion against opponents enough to expect the same from Will, so he’ll be trying to finish this as quick as he can. Chimera will be sent out first against Bronzong and immediately get Sand Stream started as well as laying down Stealth Rock. Envy will make a misstep thinking that he can use Fire Fang against Bronzong’s Steel type, but after he discovers that it has Heatproof he’ll have Chimera tank through with high defense and Dark Type moves until he’s taken it down. Assuming Will sends out Slowbro next to counter, Envy will switch Pokemon to Xerxes to outspeed and try and take that down quickly with electric attacks. Lucky will go against Jynx and use a Nasty Plot to up special attack and then Fire type moves to finish. Envy won’t depend too much on stat boosters otherwise, as his plan for dealing with potential confusion statuses is to switch between Chimera, Lucky, and potentially Xerxes for Will’s Xatu as necessary for the rest of the battle. Between them they should have enough type resistance and move coverage to handle the rest easily enough.

KOGA

Like with Will, Envy knows better than to mess around taking his time against a team that’s out to poison him, so again his strategy is to hit hard and fast. Chimera is out first again for another Stealth Rock and to take out Skuntank with Earthquake. Envy will keep Chimera out as long as he can for continued Earthquake damage, but should he become worn down by poison or if Venomoth is sent out, he’ll switch out. Either to Lucky to take out the Venomoth with Flamethrower, Xerxes against Crobat (if Chimera wound up too worn down to use Stone Edge against it) to fight with Flash and Discharge, or Samus against anything else. Samus’ Steel typing will protect her from poisoning and she has Zen Headbutt and Bulldoze to go for the throat.

BRUNO

It’s finally Izumi’s time to shine. For this fight Envy isn’t going to attempt Stealth Rock again as Chimera has that 4x weakness to everything Bruno has, so he’s going to open with the Tropius. Her type resistance, high HP, and defense stats will keep her from taking too much damage when Bruno’s Pokemon are faster, and her Quick Claw will keep that from happening EVERY turn. She’ll be primarily using Air Slash and Fly, Roosting if she gets the chance. Hariyama will be on the recieving end of Grass Knot. Assuming Hitmonchan has Fire or Thunder Punch though, that’s likely to be what takes her out. If so, Envy will switch back to Samus and Zen Headbutt, hoping to be faster than a Fire Punch, with Xerxes as the third backup there to finish with a return combination of Flash and Discharge. Bruno’s Lucario will be the most challenging. If Xerxes is still out Envy will use both Flash and Rain Dance but will probably be out after that, and then send out Juliet to burn it with Scald to lower Attack and do continuous damage, Water Pulse to try and confuse, and then Surf, taking advantage of the lingering Rain Dance. This should do the trick, but if she’s taken out then it’s back to Samus if she’s still in the game, with Lucky and Chimera as last resorts to try and use their strongest fire moves in hopes of landing them before Bruno’s Lucario hits them.

KAREN

Chimera is out first once more now that his first turn Stealth Rock is viable again, and should have plenty of Defense to withstand Weavile before taking it out with Stone Edge, or Fire Fang if Stone Edge turns out to have a hard time landing against a nimble opponent. After Weavile is out, Envy will be switching to either Juliet or Samus depending on what comes out. Samus should be able to take care of Absol with Aura Sphere, and take out or at the very least deal significant damage to Umbreon before status effects become too much of an issue. In this fight, surprisingly, Juliet is the star against most of this team if she starts out with a Rain Dance, with her Hydration ability and Haze attacks nullifying the worst of the status ailments and stat changes Karen can use on her. She’ll start with Scald against everything, which will be powered up by the Rain Dance, and follow up with Signal Beam possibly against Umbreon, Ice Beam against Honchkrow, and Surf for Houndoom. For Spiritomb she’ll rely on wearing it down with Whirlpool and her powered up Surf.

LANCE

STEALTH

ROCK

Because what’s the point of having it if you don’t get it set up? But this time it’s not just the same old, because before it’s Chimera’s First Turn Stealth Rock Time, it’s also time to finally use that Tyranitarite. Once powered up with mega evolution, Chimera will use either Stone Edge or Rock Slide to get Salamence’s HP down…and then, because he knows that Gyarados and Garchomp are waiting in the wings and isn’t going to let Lance pick them on purpose, will use Dragon Tail to knock Salamence out and hope that whatever comes in isn’t one of those two. Either Altaria or Charizard would be heavily damaged by Stealth Rock on coming in, and Chimera would use Rock Slide against Charizard and more Dragon Tail against Altaria or Dragonite to keep spinning that roulette and wearing any incoming Pokemon down with Stealth Rock. If either Gyarados or Garchomp get pulled in, Envy will immediately switch to Xerxes against Gyarados for that extra supereffective Discharge, and if it’s Garchomp will be putting in Juliet for her Ice Beam and Surf. Izumi is the backup against Garchomp with the Quick Claw and Grass Knot. Other than those two, Chimera should have this match locked down.

Team: Team for this gym
Battle Details: Lust will be going hard with type advantage attacks and immobilizing effects: utilizing her Foongus' Ingrain and Bide, as well as her Bayleef's Magical Leaf and Razor Leaf, and Brione's Disarming Voice and Water Gun. She hopes to use just the first three, with her Munna only coming out if the others all faint.

ONE OF THESE IS SUPER BACKDATED

Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Petra
Battle Details: Ivy needs to be able to fly on her leafy dinosaur, so this is way passed overdue.

Ivy's pretty confident she can probably solo run this gym with Petra so let's give it our best shot.

This Rock type not only has the advantage on the attack with STAB, but also in the defense. Her high level combined with using Tearful Look at the beginning of each switch out should keep her from getting knocked out even from stray crits.

Her attack strategy is pretty simple. Spam the hell out of Rock Slide. True Pam could pick Head Smash (because she doesn't need to worry about recoil) or even Stone Edge but she'd rather stick with a good accuracy.

Badge/Gym Leader: Rising Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Roma, AJ
Battle Details: After the fight with Surge, Pam's idea for this gym is to attempt another solo run. More so for a challenge as the rest of her Pokemon are getting far too high level. So the plan here is to solo with Roma. AJ is simply here for backup as she's another lower level Pokemon that could do with training. Roma is equipped with a Chesto Berry.

The strategy this time is to build up the stats while Gyarados on the field. First thing is to make that Gyarados less threatening while we set up, so first let's get a good Toxic on that terrifying thing. Now it's taking worse and worse poison damage over time, let's throw a Sweet Kiss ontop of that so now he's confused and has a chance of damaging himself instead of us.

Now we stack those Calm Mind's, over and over, Ivy wants at least 3 on there so our Sp. Atk and Sp. Def is nice and high. If the Gyarados hasn't gone down by now to a combination of it's confusion and poison, time to put it out of its misery with a well place Flail, which will be nice and strong as it's been whittling away at our setting-up-Roma's health. Then it's time for a Rest to get us back to full health and an immediate wake up with a Chesto Berry.

Now Pam sits back and let's Roma Moonblast her way to victory. She's not expecting much fight given the STAB boost plus 3+ from the Calm Minds. I hope Clair is in the mood to be beaten up by a tiny floating flamingo.

If by some freak act of the RNG God's things don't work out that way she's planning, Ivy had AJ, who's coming packed with a special egg move of Dragon  Breath.
