Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Character: Maurice Hutch | [personal profile] toothaches
Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy in Azalea
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: TEAM
Battle Details: Maurice is opening with his Rhydon (44) and after getting a tip from ash, dealing with Bugsy's Scizor with his Houndoom (40). If either of them are poisoned, he has his Pidgeotto (28) to stand in while he heals them up and maybe send out a quick Gust attack.

Character: Jinx | [personal profile] badluckbabe
Badge/Gym Leader: Plain Badge, Whitney
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Zep, Noir, Strawbeary

Battle Details:

Jinx has a lot of normal types on her team, so she's got a pretty good idea of what should help her with this gym. That's why she started off sending out her Drifloom Zep. Zep however felt more playful then ready for a battle and spent most of the first round just dodging attacks by the nature of being a ghost. When it finally did have to buckle down and start fighting back, it was so happy that it actually evolved into a drifblim! It was then...promptly flattened by a Girafarig.

Embarrassed by her pokemon childish behavior, Jinx fell back on her reliable Absol to hit strong and fast, managing to finish off Girafarig. However Clefairy proved a surprisingly powerful foe against Noir. Jinx hadn't counted on a fairy type and it cost her leaving her with two pokemon to defeat and only one pokemon left.

Cue Strawbeary the beware. The unsettling and creepy stare may have set the tone for the rest of the battle which mostly involved hammer arm attacks and using bind to endure the almost unstoppable powerhouse that was Whitney's Miltank once it started rolling around the arena like a pink pinball of death. The final Hammer arm attack sent the Miltank flying...right at Jinx who barely got out of the way in time.

After the match Jinx thanked Whitney, and asked if she had any advice for training her own Miltank to be as much of a powerhouse as Whiteney's.

Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy for the Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Helios, Umbra, Celeste
Battle Details: Let's be real, this is going to be a complete stomp. Helios and Umbra are both extremely powerful fire types, and while both do have a secondary weakness to Heracross's fighting type, Celeste with her bulk and wide range of attacks will be able to finish it off easily.

Character: Walter Sullivan | [personal profile] 11121_assumption
Badge/Gym Leader: Mineral Badge / Jasmine
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Bonfire, Robbie, Assumption, Joseph, Claudia, Truth
Battle Details: Walter's two main battlers here are going to be Bonfire and Robbie. Bonfire's up first, using Flamethrower and Fire Blast to melt through Skarmory and Magneton's health. Against Steelix, Walter will order her to use Fire Spin for continual damage, followed by a Will o' Wisp. He knows the Steelix's ground typing prevents Bonfire from being fully effective.

After Bonfire comes Robbie. Robbie's going to punch things, using Hammer Arm to break through Jasmine's steel types. Against the Steelix, Robbie will go all out use Superpower to take it out. Assumption is a back up, as always, in case Bonfire and Robbie fail to get it done, but given their high levels Walter doesn't believe the fight will escalate beyond Robbie.

---

Character: Walter Sullivan | [personal profile] 11121_assumption
Badge/Gym Leader: Storm Badge / Chuck
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Psyche, Reed, Doll, Assumption, Wisdom, Claudia
Battle Details: Walter's strategy again Chuck is a cruel one; abusing his Ghost Type's immunity to fighting attacks to render Chuck's Pokemon unable to fight back. He'll also have Wisdom stand beside him during this battle, as an intimidation technique; her dual typing would make her an awesome threat against Chuck's team, although her low level prevents her from actually battling. But still, it might be unnerving to see this Xatu calmly watching the battle, it's eyes flickering red at times...and it's not like Chuck can tell what level she is just by looking at her.

Psyche leads the assault, setting up with Stockpiles to boost her physical defenses. She'll then use Phantom Force and Shadow Ball to attack relentlessly. Should she be near fainting, she'll Baton Pass to the next fighter (Reed) so her stat boosts can continue to benefit the team. If she beats both the Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee, she'll Baton Pass regardless when the Poliwrath comes out.

Reed is intended to be held back specifically for the Poliwrath, to capitalise on it's Grass weakness with Leaf Blade. Walter even gave him the Miracle Seed to hold, to ensure a one-shot knock out. If he has to face any other Pokemon, Reed will be using Brave Bird to still capitalise on Fighting's weakness to Flying types. Doll and Assumption are there as backups, using similar tactics with Assumption using Retaliate to gain revenge for whoever was knocked out before him. Claudia is there to help Walter keep cool (the weather has been extremely hot lately).

Character: Diana Ladris | [personal profile] keep_surviving
Badge/Gym Leader: Falkner for the Zephyr Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Caine, Lana and Emma (Dare also but not battling).
Battle Details: So, Diana's actually tried to read up on this whole strategy thing and did you know Stealth Rocks are a thing?
So, yeah, after Lana makes pointed rocks float everywhere, Emma will get a chance to shine a little. She's mostly here to be a troll with Tail Whip, Roar, Baby-Doll Eyes and Confuse Ray but she does have Icy Wind to keep the birds off her back.
Emma's not really one for a tussle though so if things start getting physical, Lana's coming out for some Rock type domination. A few Howls and she's set to Stone Edge and Rock Slide through this team.
Caine's just here as insurance, because honestly, he could own this gym with an Electric Terrain setup and a Discharge sweep, but Diana would rather not inflate his ego even more so.
And Dare is here to watch his adoptive mummy Emma, who wouldn't come unless she could keep her new son in her sights.
badluckbabe: (Frown: Blush huh?)

[personal profile] badluckbabe 2017-07-15 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Jinx | [personal profile] badluckbabe
Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: Zest, Ms. Fortune, Faux
Battle Details: Honestly Jinx had this whole thing planned out where she would use only cat Pokemon because she has a lot of them, and birds vs cats right? Plus it would give her weaker pokemon a chance to shine.

Things flew off the rails pretty fast though. Originally Jinx had intended to start out with Mr. E, both because he's a scrappy little fighter and to amp up Ms. Fortune for her battle (She considers herself Mr. E's rival and always gets fired up when he fights)

HOWEVER Zest came out instead because the little Fairy type hasn't had a good fight in awhile and saw her opportunity to steal the spotlight. Deciding to make the best of an embarrassing situation Jinx let Zest fight and was pleasantly surprised. She put up a decent fight even if she was painfully outclassed and under leveled. Zest really seemed to get under Noctowl's feathers with her distracting moves like Charm and Sweet Scent. In the end however the Noctowl knocked Zest from the sky and Jinx was down one to three.

Attempting to save face, Jinx brought out Ms. Fortune to let her finish the job Zest had started. Noctowl still had a decent amount of HP though and Ms. Fortune's burning passion refused to let her back down even when she got tricked by the clever bird into shooting fire at Jinx. Enraged Ms. Fortune launched herself through the air and brought Noctowl down with a wicked Fire Fang attack.

Now that she was all fired up, Ms. Fortune didn't hesitate to rush into battle against the Honchkrow that arrived next. Living with a particularly tricky Murkrow made Ms. Fortune think she knew all the birds tricks, but Honchkrow had her chasing her own tail for a spell trying to land a strike on him. When she finally did it was powerful, but she ended up taking a fair amount of damage in the process leaving her too weak for the final throwdown with Pidgeot.

By this point Jinx was no longer interested in playing fair or making a show of it. She wanted to win and she wanted to tend to her now singed pink hair. Calling out Faux the Jynx she assaulted Pidgeot with a bitter combination of Ice punches and the newly learned move Avalanche which Jinx was pleased to see was just as flashy as it's name.

Not her proudest victory, but Jinx will take any win she can get.

Battle Details:
Tseng's Force Palm and Counter in combination with Rocket's Wood Hammer and Leaf Storm should make this fight a fairly easy one. Both have moves to help weaken the opposing 'mons abilities if need be (like Screech and Hypnosis) but she's honestly planning on just powering through this gym with sheer strength. Tseng will be the first one out to deal as much damage as he can and Rocket will be the one to finish the group off if Tseng falls.

Team: Laika (lv 46), Douglas (lv 53), Mirkwood (lv 62)
Battle Details: As a note, this is backdated to the tenth (the levels above reflect this)!

Ford is definitely assuming Laika will do most of the work here. With a huge arsenal of high-powered Fire moves to contend with, Bugsy's Pokemon should go down without too much fuss. Douglas is mostly along for the ride and to swap in if Laika really gets in trouble (so she can gain those Sweet Levels), and Mirkwood is waiting in the wings with plenty of Flying moves in case of emergency. Ford doesn't foresee needing to use him but you can never be too careful.

Character: Stanford Pines | [personal profile] meteorman
Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr Badge | Falkner
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Douglas (lv 53), Scylla (lv 48)
Battle Details: This is taking place Now!

Here Ford is relying on a level advantage, Douglas's Snow Warning ability and liberal spamming of Ice Shard to carry him. Scylla is only around with her Ice Beam as a backup; he is absolutely going to try and sweep Falkner with a single Pokemon. That said, Scylla has a thirst for blood so should Douglas go down she'll be more than ready to finish off Falkner's remaining Pokemon.

He'll have plenty of potions to back them up, but in the event that things get too dire, he'll swap his Aron in and let him work off some of that extra energy that has been coming out of nowhere. His Manectric will be his last resort, but should it come down to it? He's going to let Stormr go wild.

He's honestly just planning on powering through this, using the Girafarig's Dark type weakness against it with Scrapper, Clefable's Poison weakness against it with Shadow and then using Scrapper against the Miltank. Flood will step in when necessary for support moves and to use her Grass type moves to weaken their opponents a bit.

But really he's just going to let his angry dog go to town and set things on fire.

So Joy is here to make things bad for Haunter. A couple of Howls and she's ready to Crunch her way to victory. She also has Embargo to set up after Misdrevious arrives and will do her best to Crunch away her health.

Next comes Strut, with much more experience. A good Tailwind to keep up his speed and he should do a effective job of finishing off Misdrevious if Joy didn't get the job done.

Finally, Gengar. Diana's not overly worried, Strut is one of her first Pokemon, and with Tailwind already up, he's ready to hit hard with a Foul Play and Sucker Punch combo.

If for some reason Strut can't pull it out of the bag, Sass is here for some fiery revenge.

Badge/Gym Leader: Ecruteak City
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Zep, Hex, Noir
Battle Details:

Now that Jinx is starting to feel like she knows what she's doing she brought in Zep the Drifblim as a soft opener. Haunter and Drifblim seemed to be playing a game throwing shadow balls back and forth, trying to tag each other while Haunter was invisible, even dancing! But ultimately Zep came out on top by making Haunter laugh so hard it couldn't defend itself against a Shadowball between the eyes. A cruel but effective trick that Haunter might respect once it was healed.

Swapping out a weakened Drifblim for Noir, Jinx felt like she had this fight in the bag. Noir had a blast racing around the arena knocking both Misdrevious and Gengar. Gengar didn't make it easy on him though playing keep away and making Noir really work for each bit of damage he dealt. He even humiliated Noir by stealing his hat and keeping just out of reach.

In the end Noir came out on top meaning Jinx didn't have to fall upon her backup Hex.

Battle Details: After discussing tactics with Armin, Ash has formed what he hopes will be an effective team against Janine. Cú leads the assault, because how can rock get poisoned? She also has a type advantage over the secondary types of Janine's pokemon, and will be throwing down a Stealth Rock before using Rock Slides and Accelrocks against her. She'll also use Roar if Janine's Pokemon try to raise their stats and force them to switch out...and take more Stealth Rock damage.

After Cú comes Diarmuid. He's a little low leveled, but he's neutral to their damage and can land some super effective Psycho Cuts after a Swords Dance. After him is Mufusa and Fionn, who will be attacking with full power Flamethrowers and Sky Drops respectively. An Tintreach demanded to be brought along, and will use Nuzzle, Spark and Body Slam in battle. Danny's sitting on the sidelines...because Ash completely forgot Danny is part Steel. Woops. But if called to battle he'll still give his (overleveled) all!

Battle Details: This battle is all Psychopump and An Tintreach. An Tintreach just goes all out with Nuzzles, Sparks and Body Slams while Psychopump uses Leech Seed the the health drain and Bullet Seed for super effective damage.

Ceannfort and Kinnagoe are the backups; Ceannfort using his own electrical attacks, with Kinnagoe appearing as Danny if sent in and using Night Slash for (unintended) super effective damage. Diarmuid and Danny aren't intended to battle but as also in Ash's line up.

Team: Vas the Ferrothorn. Snaggy the Phantump. Mr Darcy the Lurantis.
Battle Details: Ivy has been doing a lot of training, studying and practicing so it's time for her first badge!
Vas is out first to set up. A quick Iron Defense and he's ready to lay down some Spikes and Stealth Rocks. After that he'll settle down with an Ingrain and Power Whip his opponents. When things starts to look heavy, he has Self-Destruct as a parting gift.

Next out is Snaggy. After another Ingrain setup, followed by a Growth or two and a Will-O-Wisp. From then on out it's Wood Hammer all the way. Ivy's betting on Snaggy's Ghost typing limiting the amount of moves that can be utilized against her.

Finally, there's Mr Darcy. Nothing fancy here, just another Ingrain/Growth set up before alternating between Leaf Blade and X-Scissor. There's also the always handy Synthesis if Ivy feels he's taken just a little too much damage.

Badge/Gym Leader: Janine / Soul Badge / Fuchsia City
Elite/Regular: Regular team
Team: Hannibal (lvl 100); Magellan (lvl 100); Amadeus (lvl 100);
Battle Details:

Battle start!

Crobat vs Piloswine (Hannibal)

Crobat is weak to ice move so Armin will be focusing on ice moves. Hannibal also has ancient power which is a rock type move which crobat is also weak too, which can be used if in a pinch. Still, at first Armin is going to focus on Hannibal’s ice moves, because those get STAB damage. Crobat is a flying/Poison type and Hannibal resists poisoning damage, so between that and Hannibal’s higher level, Armin hopes Crobat won’t be able to do too much damage to his pokemon. Just in case, Armin has given Hannibal a Pecha Berry to hold and quickly consume if he does end up poisoned.

In battle, Armin will start off by ordering Hannibal to use Icy Wind a few times to drop Crobat’s speed, so it cannot avoid future attacks as easily. After that, he’ll switch to using Ice Fang (10% possibility of freezing and 10% possibility of flinching) and Blizzard (10% possibility of freezing) to finish it off. Due to Crobat’s weakness to ice and Hannibal’s higher level, Armin feels safe in assuming this first part of things won’t take too long.

Next up

Aradios vs Incineroar (Magellan)

In order to deal with Janine’s Aradios, Armin will withdraw Hannibal and instead release Magellan. Magellan is a Fire/Dark type, while Aradios is weak to fire. Magellan doesn’t resist either of Aradios’ Bug/Poison types but he is one of Armin’s strongest and most eager fighters, so of course Armin is going to use him.

Armin is mainly going to be concerned about Aradios getting a good shot in and poisoning Magellan, so he’ll be focusing on coming out strong right from the start and ending this battle quickly. As with Hannibal, he has given Magellan a Pecha berry to hold, but he also knows that that won’t help much if Magellan gets poisoned several times in a row.

Armin will start off the battle by making Magellan use Fire Fang (10% possibility of burning the opponent and 10% possibility of making them flinch). He will switch this up with using Flamethrower (10% possibility of burning the opponent). He recently was able to find a tutor that taught Magellan the move Blast Burn which is a very strong fire-type move, but will also mean Magellan has to recharge the turn afterwards. So Armin’s plan is to try and get down Aradios’ HP significantly and then allow Magellan to use Blast Burn and knock out Aradios’ remaining HP in one go so he won’t need to be vulnerable while recharging.

Final opponent

Venomoth vs Noctowl (Amadeus)

After having dealt with Janine’s Aradios, it’s time for the final battle, and Armin will yet again be switching pokemon for this. Magellan will get a chance to rest up, and Armin will bring out his old starter pokemon Amadeus.

As a noctowl, Amadeus is part flying type which is what Venomoth is weak too. Additionally, while he is not a psychic type, he does learn a lot of psychic type moves which is another thing that Venomoth is weak too. Meanwhile Amadeus resists Venomoth’s bug type which is what makes up the majority of its attacks and he also resists grass type moves of which Venomoth has a few as well.

Again, as with the other two, Armin has given Amadeus a Pecha berry to hold (Sasha’s interest in growing berries is really paying off here) in order to ward off any poisoning.

Armin will immediately start off the battle using Fly. Not only is it a move Venomoth is weak too, but he also hopes that by flying high up in the air, Amadeus will be able to avoid many of Venomoth’s poison type moves and keep from being poisoned. If Amadeus does end up poisoned, he has a pecha berry to heal him, but if he has already used up that, Armin will try and use psycho shift. This is an attack that allows the pokemon afflicted by a status condition to transfer that condition to their opponent. In addition to fly, Armin will also have Amadeus use moves such as Zen Headbutt (20% chance of flinching) and Air Slash (30% chance of flinching). After all, the fewer moves Venomoth can do, the less chance there is of it hitting Amadeus hard.

All things considered though, with Amadeus’ higher level, resistance to bug type move and Venomoth’s weakness to flying and psychic moves, he thinks he’s pretty safe in this battle.

Battle Details: For once, Bert is going to be opening up with his Aggron instead of his Arcanine and have plenty of healing items to back him up. This time his Arcanine is going to be back-up if things go south.

Against Janine's Crobat, he's going to open up with Protect a few times to gauge its strength, and then when he has an opening, follow up with Rock Slide and Thunder, intent on hitting its weaknesses to both electric and rock.

Ariados and Venomoth will have a similar strategy, only instead of using protect right off the bat, he's going to open up with Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Heavy Slam. Against the Venomoth in particular he'll be using Hyper Beam and a majority of his harder hitting moves, intent on burning it down as fast as possible to try and avoid any nasty status effects. Should it become too overwhelming, he'll send out his Tyrantrum to hopefully finish the job, and if all else fails, he'll send his Arcanine out to do what he does best;

If for some reason Pride can't take both of them out, Bean will step in for clean up purposes. Mamoswine is going to be Bean's main target, the Snorlax using her level advantage and sheer powerhouse set of attacks to take it down.

As usual Noctis is going to be focusing primarily on offensive attacks, powering his way through this one.

Team: Evan, KFC, Sass, Joy
Battle Details: Evan is up first, he's a little under-leveled but he's been training hard and thinks he can do some major damage to Skarmory and a good dent in Magneton. Of course, he's got Flamethrower for just some pure damage, but to be tricky he's also packing Confuse Ray and Fire Spin, with a Will-O-Wisp and Hex combo (double damage). Not to mention Payback (again, double damage) for those times Skarmory out speeds him.

Honestly, Sass could take this whole gym, especially with her Corrosion ability. So long as she has time for a Nasty Plot and Toxic set up, she's set to sweep with Flamethrower and Venoshock (double damage, see a theme?).

KFC, though very under leveled, has a serious (double!) type advantage and a resistance so is here to mostly give Sass time to recover if she needs healing and do some decent whittling in the mean time, mostly top Steelix.

Finally, there's Joy. Joy is here for backup. She's secretly packing Fire Fang and Rock Smash and since she's pure Dark, doesn't have to worry too much about opposing attacks. Let her get in a Howl, maybe a sneaky Yawn and she's down for some good old fashioned scrapping.

Badge/Gym Leader: Soul Badge | Janine
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Scylla (lv. 48), Fantastic Mr. Fox (lv. 50), Douglas (lv. 53)
Battle Details: This time around Ford isn't going to rely on a level advantage. Instead he'll be facing Janine with a team made up of the same number of Pokemon and at around the same level.

As someone who dearly loves his own Crobat, he'll be glad that Janine is leading with one because it means his choice on who to send out first is easy. He'll be leading with Scylla and making ample use of her access to Ice Beam and Psychic to take it out as quickly as possible before it can do that much damage.

His plan is, in fact, to set Scylla up with some Agility and an Aqua Ring when the Ariados comes out; should she get in trouble his plan is to Baton Pass these boosts onto Fantastic Mr. Fox. Application of Will-o-Wisp and Confuse Ray should help to chip away at the health of Janine's two remaining Pokemon, while also making it more difficult for them to land hits of their own. Combine this with Fantastic Mr. Fox's arsenal of high-powered Fire-type moves and he should have no trouble, though if he does Douglas is waiting in the wings to finish things off.

While her Grass typing puts her in danger in this gym, Douglas's Snow Warning ability will add more passive damage, and she's also able to use Ingrain to help keep her HP up. As she should be switching in on an already-injured Venomoth (assuming things go well but not so well that she doesn't need to be brought in at all), she should be able to hold her own long enough to bring it down.

Badge/Gym Leader: Volcano Badge | Blaine
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Scylla (lv. 48), Kerouac (lv. 70), Nautilus (lv. 57), Mirkwood (lv. 62)
Battle Details: After regrouping in Fuchsia, Ford is going to make the trip back to Seafoam with a team better-suited to Blaine's gym than the one he brought with him to #FindLugia.

As with Janine, he plans to start with Scylla, and will be employing a similar strategy: use her type-effective moves to do as much damage as possible, set up some stat boosts and healing, and Baton Pass out. He'll likely be Baton Passing fairly quickly, as well, because Scylla is under-leveled for this gym and won't be able to take it on her own.

Scylla will pass out into Kerouac, who lacks any sort of type advantage but does at least have some levels on his side. As usual with Ford's strategy where Kerouac is concerned, he'll be piling on the offensive moves and using Explosion to get in one last big hit once Kerouac's health starts getting dangerously low. He'll be relying on Magmortar's relatively crappy defense to allow Kerouac to do lots of physical damage and quickly.

Finally, against the Rapidash he'll be sending in Nautilus. He's going to be relying on Nautilus's host of effective moves and his high defense stat to carry him here, but should Nautilus be unable to finish the job for whatever reason he'll bring Scylla back in for one last Aqua Tail, which ought to make up the difference.

Of course there's always the chance that it won't -- even Ford is smart enough to recognize this is a fight he'll win by the skin of his teeth with the team he's brought, which is why he has Mirkwood at the back with Sucker Punch as a last resort. A grass type at a fire gym? It's fine. Shh.

Badge/Gym Leader: Morty for the Fog Badge!
Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team: Dinah, Poirot, August, Bettina, Madeline, and Ramsay
Battle Details: For Morty's team, Jane will rely on her level advantage and outright strategy in order to get the upper hand on these ghosts. She'll pit Madeline against his Haunter, hoping to overpower it with Special Attack Water type moves with a large hit radius, to make sure that if it turns invisible, there's a better chance of making sure the moves hit. For Misdreavus Jane will use Bettina for her Flying moves and speed, and Ramsay with his Grass moves and nimble movement.

Gengar is another matter entirely. Dinah will insist on fighting it despite knowing that, as a Normal type, very little of what she can do presently can actually even land a hit on a Ghost type. It's doubtful she'll be able to do much damage, but she'll make a point to last as long as possible in the arena and try whittling down its HP with Disarming Voice, willing to risk even being the target of Curse, which Morty is known to use and already cuts the user's HP. When she faints, Jane will change to August, who, while weak to Ghost, is strong against Gengar's Poison typing and can overwhelm it with Psychic and Fire attacks.

Team: Miss Fortune, Noir, Hex
Battle Details: Jinx was hoping to brute force her way through this gym, but Miss Fortune absolutely wanted to see for herself how she would measure up against a steel type. When she came up against Skarmory she put up a good fight. Flames and agility on her side kept the battle raging. But slowly and surely her health began to dwindle. Just as it seemed like Skarmory was about to land it's final blow...Miss Fortune evolved!

Now as an Incineroar she had a renewed vigor and used Flare Blitz to finish off the first pokemon. Exhausted from the fight she fell back.

Next up was Noir. Fast on his feat and durable from his rather clumsy lifestyle Noir proved to be a tough match for magneton. Unfortunately many of his attacks weren't strong enough to do serious damage to the steel type, so Noir opted to play dirty with Perish Song. So long as he kept himself alive till the song's curse took effect the round would end in a double faint.

Finally Hex to bring it home. Hex is the highest leveled pokemon on Jinx's team and uses that training to her full advantage. Tailwind kept her blazing around the field at top speed and her collection of tricky moves kept Steelix unable do do any serious damage to her. Chipping away at Steelix's health until the battle was won.
