Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Character: Aymeric de Borel | [personal profile] ourstosee
Badge/Gym Leader: Violet City/Zephyr
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here. In particular, Aymeric will be using Lucille, Anglaise, Vicomte, Naegling and Quill
Battle Details: Aymeric will be sending out Lucille to start the team off. Mostly, she's here to charm the other team to sleep with Sing. While his team isn't particularly at an advantage, they're not at at a disadvantage either. Thus, it's going to come down to brute force mostly, so he'll put the other team at whatever disadvantage he can. That also means building up defenses, so Vicomte will come in after Lucille to drop Reflect and Lightscreen as necessary. He's also taken advantage of Quill's ability to record moves with sketch and kitted him with some type advantages. There's no STAB here, but at least he'll have some super-effectives to throw around against these flying types!

Once Honchkrow comes out, Aymeric will try to get one round of Sing off, before switching to Disarming Voice. Should Lucille be unavailable, he'll bring Vicomte back in to do the same.

Mostly it's going to be about resilience and taking advantage of whatever abilities he has!

Character: Jarlaxle Baenre | [personal profile] nevercaught
Badge/Gym Leader: Violet
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Euol (Sableye 52), with Mrim'ol (Klefki 50) and Dalhar (Zoroark 42) as back-up
Battle Details: Just by typing alone, Falkner was always destined to be a harder battle for Jarlaxle, whose taste for spider-shaped Pokemon has left him with a main team that's half bug. It's probably not a surprise that he chooses to leave his spiders on the bench for this battle.

If possible, Jarlaxle will try to use Euol for the entire fight, because the little imp is well and determined to show off how clever a creature he is--and he does have Power Gem, which is very useful for ruining the day of any Flying pokemon by hitting them in the Rock weakness. Even better, Euol's advantageous Dark/Ghost typing leaves him vulnerable only to Fairy attacks, none of which the birds on Falkner's team should have. At the start of each battle, Euol will Flash to screw with his opponent's accuracy.

For his fights with Noctowl and Pidgeot, Euol turns to the already mentioned Power Gem, paying strict attention to how many times he has to move available and pacing himself, so he'll have Power Gems for Noctowl and Pidgeot both, tossing in some Zen Headbutts if it's taking more Power Gems to take them down than he though. For Honchkrow, however, he turns to the Dazzling Gleam he taught Euol via TM, smacking the gangster bird in their mutual fairy weakness instead.

If Euol goes down, Mrim'ol goes in, using Metal Sound to decrease their special defense, before mixing things up with a combination of more Dazzling Gleams and Draining Kisses. Although only Honchkrow is vulnerable to Fairy, none of Falkner's birds are resistant at least. Meanwhile, poor Dalhar is mainly here to be a heal stall until Jarlaxle can get Euol or Mrim'ol back up again.

Jarlaxle tends to work out battle strategy beforehand with his pokemon, so he can catch his opponents off-guard by not shouting out move names. If he does have to give orders in the field, he does it using the Drow Sign Language he's been teaching all his pokemon. His entrances and exits are highly flamboyant; the drow is a consummate showman.

Character: Shrike | [personal profile] fayblood
Badge/Gym Leader: Whitney
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: here (updated to time of challenge)
Battle Details: A bit backdated, but! So Shrike pays attention to the information available to him in general, but especially in this case, as he doesn't want to stay in the big city longer than he has to. And hearing that Whitney has a lot of fairy and normal type pokemon, the kid in the togekiss hoodie shows up with...

Corviknight.

That's right, it's Airy's turn to shine! Steel wing ought to handily take care of that clefable, and the resistance steel has to normal-type attacks will give Airy time to pummel the others while minimizing damage. Shrike will also take advantage of status moves, both to slow down Whitney's team... and to power up Airy so that she can hit extra hard with power trip.

If somehow a level 100 corviknight isn't enough, Shrike still has his togekiss and nidorino to fall back on! Needles in particular would be handy with double kick.

[personal profile] heartofalioness 2022-04-26 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Princess Allura | [personal profile] heartofalioness
Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy, Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Avara the Lycanroc, Lovebug the Ribombee, and Nara the Pyroar
Battle Details:
Starting off, Pinsir’s opponent will be Avara. The two are pretty well-matched in terms of stats, but Avara has the immediate advantage in terms of typing and experience. Still, Pinsir has quite a few Fighting moves at its disposal, and Avara’s more suited for offense and speed than defense, so she’ll need to be careful and keep her distance. So Avara will start off with a Sand Attack followed by Double Team to make it harder for Pinsir to land an attack, then trap Pinsir in a Rock Tomb to hold it still for Stone Edge. If Pinsir does manage to get close enough to hit her, she has Counter and Reversal to dish the damage back before trying to get that distance between them again; even if Pinsir is resistant to Fighting moves, if it uses a super-effective Fighting move on Avara, that still sets up the Bug-type to take a LOT of damage.

Next up is Lovebug versus Heracross. While the Ribombee is resistant to Bug and double resistant to Fighting, she'll still need to be careful of Heracross's Aerial Ace and Stone Edge since she's much squishier than the Single Horn Pokémon. Still, Lovebug has an advantage in experience and especially in Speed, so to start she'll send a Stun Spore Heracross's way to paralyze it. This will trigger Guts if Heracross has it, but Allura doesn't plan on getting in close enough to find out. So once again, attacking from a distance with Dazzling Gleam, and if Heracross does manage to get in close enough to land a blow, she'll counter with Draining Kiss to keep herself healed.

And for Scizor, Allura will send out Nara. This one is very straightforward, especially with Scizor's double weakness to Fire and Nara being significantly faster, even when they're more equal in levels than the last two rounds. A couple of well-placed Flamethrowers from a distance should work nicely- since Nara's squishier than Scizor but Scizor's special defense isn't as bulky as his physical defense- and if Scizor does manage to get close enough to land a hit, Nara will retaliate with a Fire Fang.

Character: Jarlaxle Baenre | [personal profile] nevercaught
Badge/Gym Leader: Azalea
Elite/Regular: regular!
Team: Euol (Sableye 60) and Mrim'ol (Klefki 58), with Dalhar (Zoroark 50) as back-up
Battle Details: Like with his challenge in Violet, Jarlaxle's spiders will be remaining on the bench for this fight. (He also leaves his main flyer on the bench, as Honglath is not quite high level enough for the gym.)

For the match with Pinsir, Jarlaxle sends out Euol to use his Power Gem to take advantage of Pinsir's Rock weakness--though he starts the match with Flash first, to reduce Pinsir's accuracy. Euol is willing to use up all his Power Gem attacks on Pinsir to accomplish this, since he won't be needing them for the other two opponents.

While Euol insists he could solo the whole gym, Jarlaxle switches him out for Mrim'ol for the battle with Heracross, given that the little Klefki can easily hit Heracross in their Fairy weakness. Metal Sound decreases special defense and then Mrim'ol alternates between Dazzling Gleam and Draining Kiss to hurt Heracross hard.

Euol comes right back out for Scizor, so that the little imp can use the move that Jarlaxle had been lucky enough to find a move tutor to teach him: Fire Punch. Unfortunately, due to advantageous typing, Scizor is only vulnerable to Fire attacks--but it's very vulnerable to them, at least. Again, he starts out the match by using Flash to reduce accuracy.

As with Violet, Dalhar is here mostly to be a heal-stall, should Euol or Mrim'ol go down, giving time for Jarlaxle to administer them potions while Dalhar attempts to tank a hit or two. (It helps that Dalhar is resistant to Bug.)

Jarlaxle and his pokemon work out their match strategy in advance, so that he might not call out his moves in the field and potentially catch his opponents off-guard with them. If he does need to give instruction in the field, he uses the Drow Sign Language he's been teaching his pokemon.

As with last time, Jarlaxle exhibits a great deal of drama in his entrances and exits. Both Euol and Dalhar will be wearing pokemon-sized capes, which were personally tailored by Jarlaxle. Euol's is rainbow, like his trainer's, while Dalhar's is blue.

Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Meowstic: LV61, Luxray: LV57, Noivern: LV72 LV, Minccino: LV64, Doublade: LV68, Corviknight: LV78
Battle Details:

Against Janine: Swordie the Doublade will be the star of this show dealing the primary damage. He will be taking a completely offensive beat-down strategy here with the type advantage. Backing Swordie up will be Mac and Cheese the Corviknight against the two bug-types, aiming to one-shot them with Brave Bird. What the Noivern will be for back-up if anything gets complicated as he has flying-type moves as well.

Against Sabrina: Swordie the Doublade strikes again here, being very deadly with both ghost and dark-type moves. As backup Mister Mitri the Luxray will also be dealing ample damage with Bite and Crunch. Breakfast the Meowstic will be providing defensive support for the two, but is still armed with Sucker Punch for dishing out damage as well.

Both battles, Byleth will be using his newly-developed battle style that involves grid-positioning for the best angles of attack. His battle style has become very clean and calculated, he has thought of what type advantages he should heed, as well as researched both leaders and their rosters extensively. It's clear he's developed a system.

Character: G'rhyf Kett | [personal profile] songofthedawn
Badge/Gym Leader: Bugsy for the Hive Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: here
Battle Details:
While G'rhyf is pretty sure they could just go in with Jaya to start and just sweep the whole thing, that doesn't really feel very sporting. So, they'll start out with Kavi! Minimize and Confuse Ray for defense, and then it's on to spamming Power Gem and Brine as Pinsir's health gets lower. With the help of Recover and Psychic Kavi can probably also put a decent amount of hurt into Heracross, but Jaya will probably come out to finish it off. Scizor is a bit of problem since that steel typing leaves Jaya with only normally effective moves at best, but she's resistant to everything it can put out, so Iron Defense and Drill Peck are more than enough to see this through.

Character: G'rhyf Kett | [personal profile] songofthedawn
Badge/Gym Leader: Whitney for the Normal Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: here
Battle Details:
Kavi coming out to start the fight is...becoming a theme but I swear it isn't on purpose. Minimize and Light Screen, and then Kavi will go in for the damage with Surf and Brine against Girafarig. Clefable will see Jaya coming out, because fuck you steel typing. Iron Defense, Steel Wing, I think we're done here. Jaya stays out to chip away at Miltank for a bit, but resistance only does so much against Rollout when she's already worn down. Dhaval has Hypnosis and Charm to hopefully stall out Miltank a little bit while he beats on it with Moonblast, and if that all works G'rhyf will be startled and INCREDIBLY guilty at making Whitney cry, they're pretty sure this is a teenager??? Wow they're horrible what the hells.

Character: Keith | [personal profile] tempredmental

Badge/Gym Leader: Plain Badge / Whitney
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: https://tempredmental.dreamwidth.org/11817.html?thread=377385#cmt377385
Battle Details: Keith is a little nervous about this one because he doesn't have much to combat this team directly. He's hoping he made some good picks.

Against the Girafig, he'll send in his Absol first, using moves like Sucker Punch, Bite, and Night Slash. As a back up, if needed, he has his Houndoom come in with Foul Play.

Against the Clefable, he goes with Doublade first and sticks with Iron Head as much as he can. He has his Corviknight with Steel Wing for a back up.

And against Miltank, he brings in Hawlucha. This Pokémon has the most fighting moves out of his roster. If he needs the back up, he ends up with Lycanroc, just hoping that the wolf-type's resistance to Normal moves will help and that Miltank doesn't have High Horsepower.

Badge/Gym Leader: Hive Badge / Bugsy
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: https://tempredmental.dreamwidth.org/11817.html?thread=376873#cmt376873
Battle Details: Keith definitely knows that bugs are weak to fire and flying, so he packs his team. They're probably a little over-leveled, but, not only were these the ones suited for it, they were the ones who wanted to do the battle. Some had been part of his failed first Zephyr attempt and were looking for redemption, especially since they'd been affected by the Snorunts at the time and ended up all lazy and untrainable for a month.

That said, Red goes first with something to prove. The Torracat doesn't care if he's not an Incineroar, and loves using his fire moves. Keith has him focus on those, but he won't hold back on having Red use a Bite or a Scratch if he needs to. Keith'll have him throw a Swagger or two in there as well. He knows Red isn't afraid to take a stronger hit if it means getting his opponent all Confused.

Phoenix the Talonflame's Flame Body makes it hard for physical attackers to not get burned when they hit. If he needs to Brave Bird, he'll do it for the team. Keith generally tries not to let him do it unless absolutely necessary. For the most part, Keith will focus on those flying moves with the Talonflame. If HP gets low, Keith will have him use Roost.

Fiesty's favorite move is Blaze Kick and he uses a lot. Like... a lot. He gets miffed when Keith tells him to use something else. But he does like to Bulk Up and do Fire Spin. Keith uses Fire Spin any time he feels a need to hold an opponent in place for a few turns.

Devildog the Houndoom will be told to use Fire Fang instead of Thunder Fang, and Keith will definitely focus on attempting to use Detect to his advantage.

Firedancer is back after her race with a giant emo Zapdos, and is ready to battle! Keith will focus on using Quick Attack to stay ahead of the opponent if they're fast, but also Ember, Fire Spin, and Flame Charge most of the time. Keith will have her use Agility to avoid being caught up in sticky web threads!

Antok the Corviknight is pretty large, like his namesake. He's another Brave Bird user, and Keith will hold back on that as long as possible. Instead, he'll use Iron Defense to keep the bird safe, and focus on Peck and Pluck as much as possible.

[personal profile] talkyourwayout 2022-05-03 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Louie Duck | [personal profile] talkyourwayout
Badge/Gym Leader: Mineral/Jasmine
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: The "Current Team" section, in which Pokemon images link to their in-depth comment! I said I'd do it someday!
Battle Details:
Because Louie's taking on Jasmine before Chuck, there's a level jump here that he's not unprepared for, per say, but isn't as prepared to be strategic with. Basically, this is where the "he's a teenager, and a lazy one at that" kicks in: It's getting a little hard, and for all of how far he's come, Louie's still not about that. He's feeling kind of frustrated, especially after being stagnant in the aftermath of prom. So he's relying on the type advantages and raw power of Topaz the Scrafty and Lexington the Rapidash.

First, though, Tesla the Togedemaru (level 63) will take on Skarmory. That'll start off with a couple Defense Curls plus a Nuzzle to paralyze the opponent, but again, the strategy here is minimal. Louie will mostly rely on Zing Zaps-- And well, paraflinch is a strategy of sorts, I suppose.

Beyond that, Lexington will be the main fighter against Magneton, using a few Flame Charges for damage and increased speed as well. Lexington is at level 100, but if she needs to turn to Flare Blitz, Louie will have her do so-- Topaz (also level 100) is still waiting in the wings.

And, alright, there's strategy with Topaz. It's just pretty cheap strategy. If Topaz faces Magenton, that's just some Brick Breaks. But for Steelix? Louie will have Topaz spamming Sand Attacks. As many as the Scrafty can safely get in, which will hopefully allow Topaz to land some successful Focus Punches. If that isn't working out, Louie will instead go for Low Kicks and maybe some more Brick Breaks.

All in all, not a very exciting battle, but Louie's ready to move on from Olivine-- With or without the badge. His heart and mind aren't totally in it. After all, next stop is Cianwood, so he'll hit Olivine again on the way back.

Character: Riz Gukgak | [personal profile] nightyorb
Badge/Gym Leader: Jasmine, Olivine City, Mineral
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Nasha the Galvantula (lvl 75), Asfel the Shedninja (lvl 76), PI the Yungoos (lvl 100),
Battle Details:

VS Skarmory

Starting off against Skarmory, Riz will bring out his Galvantula. Skarmory is weak to Electric attacks, and Galvantula is strong against Steel types. This is about as straightforward a match-up as one can find.

Starting off, Galvantula will use Discharge, which has a one in three chance of causing paralysis. After this, Riz will have Galvantula use a few Electrowebs to further lower Skarmory's speed. Then finally, he'll have Galvantula use Electro Ball. Electro Ball deals more damage the greater the speed difference between the two pokemon. Skarmory's base speed is 70 VS Galvantula's 108. Further lowered by Paralysis and a lowered speed stat, Electro Ball should start hitting those high damage numbers.

Galvantula will also go into this battle equipped with a Sitrus Berry to restore some HP if Skarmory happens to hit it hard.

VS Magneton

Against Magneton, Riz will bring out his Shedninja. Shedninja has the ability wonderguard. This means that can only be damaged by a Super Effective move. Unfortunately, as an Electric/Steel type, Magneton only learns Steel, Electric, Normal and one Psychic move, none of which can damage Shedninja.

This battle will be fairly simple. While Magneton cannot damage Shedninja in any way, Riz will have Shedninja use Mud-Slap and Dig, which are both Ground type attacks, which Magneton is very weak to.

Goodbye Magneton, you got to do literally nothing this fight.

VS Steelix

Finally, we come to Steelix. Steelix is going to be a fucking ass to fight for Riz because of its many resistances and the fact that it just so happens to target a lot of Riz's pokemons' weaknesses. So this fight is going to be a scrappy one.

To begin, he's gonna leave his Shedninja on the field. He knows that one hit from Steelix will down Shedninja, but damage is damage. He'll have Shedninja use Mud Slap. Shedninja is quicker than Steelix, so it should go first. If Riz gets very very lucky, Steelix's accuracy might be lowered and it might miss, but more likely than not after dealing one Mud-Slap worth of damage, Shedninja will go down (but it dealt Ground damage and Steelix is weak to that shit!)

Next up is Yungoos.

As a normal type, most of Yungoos' attacks are resisted by Steelix. However, it does know both Mud-Slap and Stomping Tantrum, both of which are Ground moves.

So, Riz will first have Yungoos use Mud-Slap, which hopefully has the added bonus of lowering Steelix's accuracy. It would be very advantageous for Steelix to miss Yungoos a few times because it is literally a nine-meter long steel snake vs one small bitey boy, and it would be nice if Yungoos could not get flattened during this fight.

Once Steelix's accuracy is as low as it can go, Riz will switch to using Stomping Tantrum. Should Yungoos run out of PP for both Mud-slap and Stomping Tantrum, Riz will have him use his dark type moves. These don't have an advantage on Steelix, but at least it doesn't resist them.

Oh, and as always, Riz will have equipped Yungoos with a Chesto Berry before the fight, so if its HP gets down low, it can use the Rest+Chesto combo to replenish it and immediately wake up.

(He also promised PI that he'll buy him a cup of coffee if he wins, which maybe a motivational boost?)

Battle Details: Aymeric is much more confident going into this battle, considering the type advantages he has going for him. Lucille will lead the charge against Pinsir, laying down heavy cover with her Flying moves. Should she waver at any point, Vicomte is there to pick up the slack with his Psychic moves.

Dealing with Scizor is the more challenging part. For this, he's brought in Quill and trained him with a new Fire move thanks to sketch. He'll do what he can to bring Scizor down, and let the others jump in if need be!

Badge/Gym Leader: Whitney/Plains
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here, with Naegling and Anglaise leading the charge, with Lucille, Vicomte, and Quill providing support
Battle Details: Aymeric is a little less confident coming into this one. Though his team is being led by two Ghost pokemon, he doesn't have any notable type advantages when it comes to fighting back. His biggest strategy is going to be chipping away at whatever Whitney throws at him with Anglaise's Giga Drain. If she does manage to land hits, it should keep them healed up. Naegling, on the other hand, will be much more direct with his steel type moves.

Battle Details:

For Blaine In this battle What the Noivern will be taking point for Byleth to soak most of the damage with his resistance to fire. He will be using Hyper Fang to deal a brunt of his damage out and then rely on his STAB moves like Wing Attack and Air Slash. His backup for this fight will be Breakfast the Meowstic with his support moves to also help mitigate damage along with his own psychic attacks. Lastly in this battle will be Mister Mitri the Luxray who tends to be a bit of a glass-cannon but his brutal fighting style will help to at least take out one of Blaine's team, if not more.

For Blue he will be using his full roster. Mister Mitri the Luxray will be set against the Gyrados and Pidgeot using Thunder Fang to deal a large portion of his damage to them. Against Rhydon, Swordie the Doublade and Mac and Cheese the Corviknight will easily be able to dispatch it with steel-type STAB moves. Likely Mac and Cheese will be up against the Rhydon primarily, so that Swordie can deal with Exeggutor using Shadow Sneak and Night Slash with Mister Mitri as backup with Crunch. As for the Machamp, Breakfast the Meowstic will be the primary opponent, utilizing his more offensive psychic moves. In the case that Breakfast may not be able to deal with it, Mac and Cheese and What will also be able to take it on with their flying-type moves. A well-placed Brave Bird would likely do the trick. The Arcanine will be a bit more difficult but fortunately Snuggles the Minccino will still be healthy and ready to go. Utilizing Sing and Wake-Up Slap to gain a type-advantage, it can also use it's various de-buff moves to make the Arcanine more squishy for the rest of his team to polish off should Snuggles fall.

By now for both of these battles, Byleth has developed his grid and positioning based fighting style quite fully. He seems to have grasped the ebb and flow of battle and fully utilizes various tactics, type advantage and strategy. This man has clearly been reading a whole hell of a lot. Every gym he challenges now, he has mapped out on paper along with the terrain to be able to fully use his grid system. He is now the man you hate to fight in Pokemon Showdown. He's the Ludicolo guy.

Character: Princess Allura | [personal profile] heartofalioness
Badge/Gym Leader: Morty, Fog Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Nara the Pyroar, Avara the Lycanroc Eloris the Skitty, and Headbando the Bewear
Battle Details:
First up is Nara versus Haunter. Of course being part Normal gives her immunity to Ghost moves, but not only does she have an experience advantage and slightly stronger stats all around, especially in Speed, Nara also knows Crunch. So Allura's strategy is to have Nara charge in close and wail on Haunter with as many Crunches and Fire Fangs as possible for the super-effective damage and the STAB and burn chance, respectively. Haunter has a lot of nasty status moves up its sleeve though, so Nara is armed with a Lum Berry to keep her out of a healing loop, at least for a while. If Haunter manages to get away, the Crunches should have lowered Haunter's already low Special Defense for Nara to hit it with Flamethrower before lunging in for another flurry of Crunches and Fire Fangs.

For Misdreavus, Allura plans on sending out Avara... but then Eloris decides you know what, Misdreavus looks like someone fun to play with, she wants to battle! So have a tiny pink cat, Morty. Normally this would be a very risky, considering the Skitty's squishier stats and Normalize rendering *all* of her moveset to a type the Screech Pokémon is immune to. But not only does Eloris have a considerable experience advantage over Misdreavus, the little kitty has two aces up her sleep: Foresight and Sing. So she'll set those up first to negate Misdreavus immunity to Normal and put it to sleep, which will double the power of the following Wake-Up Slap on top of the boost it already gets from Normalize. If that doesn't finish the job, Eloris will be in close enough to use Play Rough and Fury Swipes, and Payback if Misdreavus manages to land a heavy enough attack. She also has Heal Bell to protect her from the ghost's status-heavy moveset for at least a while, and Allura will arm her with a Sitrus Berry before going in.

Finally, it's only fitting that Allura uses one of Rainer's old Pokémon to take on the Ghost specialist's ace, especially one with considerably more experience. While the mutual immunity does cut down on a lot of Headbando's moveset, there are only two that Allura really needs: Brutal Swing and Payback. So like with Haunter, Allura's strategy is to try and close the gap as soon as possible and go at it with Brutal Swing, and if Gengar manages to get in a hit as well- especially if it still has access to Focus Blast- counter with Payback. Still, Gengar has a considerable Speed advantage (though that will help with the Payback portion of Allura's strategy), as well as a lot of status moves and the ability Cursed Body, so Allura will keep a close eye on the battle to keep Headbando healed, especially since Klutz means the Bewear can't use berries.

Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: HERE - China the Polteageist, Wes the Gengar (slide 4), Salem the Absol (slide 8), and Oxy the Haunter (slide 2) for Backup
Battle Details: Emporio is once again back at it, and apparently with some renewed vigor! Just in time to soon after get slammed in the face by Actual Ghosts, but eh whatever

While Jasmine may have heard down the grapevine ages ago that there was a trainer using Jolyne's unconventional and...honestly kind of terrifying methods of battle, along with a few slightly less stale rumors of someone going out of their WAY to make a fight difficult, it's only now that she gets to see it for real!

Emporio's taken a good while to sort out his team for her, and ultimately...not to mention ironically, it's all Ghosts! They're the one type that doesn't have a defensive advantage against Steel, and lacks a straight advantage or disadvantage on the offensive end. Granted, most steel types also have the sp. defense levels of a sheet of paper but...hey.

The hope is that China can handle most of the fighting, as everyone else in the team is roughly ten levels higher than Jasmine's Steelix...and Emporio's not here to Power Level! Primarily, China is focusing on a stat-lock; with the simple order to 'Take care of themselves', accompanied by the command to think Carefully, China is going to kick off by raising special attack with Nasty Plot, while also lowering opponent attack levels- not to mention healing- by way of Strength Sap. While China can also protect using...well, Protect, the dancing tea pot (which is, being real, just being an absolute teasing menace while scooting around the arena here) gets their shots in by way of Sucker Punch and Shadow Ball- throwing a good ol' 'Astonish' with a splash of cold tea for good measure.

Notably Emporio has no given orders for these moves; China is simply meant to determine which works best for the situation, and really...all three are roughly as effective as the other.

This is ultimately a strategy that gets used on all three pokemon where China can; skittering around Skarmory's feet, hiding beneath Magneton to avoid sight, and finally, if the little thing has made it to Steelix, getting the gal to even scurry up and around the steel snake's coils until it's sitting just out of reach. Mean!

Of course, if it's looking grim, China has one last option; if China is about to get taken out, they're using 'Memento' before passing the baton on to Salem.

Salem, of course, is Dark Type- and another one likely to abuse statlocking. Salem makes use of his Super Luck to his advantage, raising his attack using Sword Dance and his Evasiveness with Double Team; he ultimately leans mostly on Me First however, just to add to the risk; though of course, rather than any actual orders, Emporio keeps it as vague as usual- encouraging Salem to 'have his dance', and from there merely instructing him to 'beat [the opponent] at their own game'.

Which is a pretty good way to describe 'Me First'.

At the end of it all, Wes and Oxy are here as backups; if Wes has to come out, Emporio tells him to take the 'easy route', which will result, ultimately, in Wes simply putting the enemy pokemon to sleep before hammering down with Shadow Ball. Likewise, if it comes to be Oxy's turn (though hopefully not), she is made to do the same thing- though this time eating away at the health with the less effective 'Dream Eater' after putting the pokemon to sleep.

But hey, while the Steel mons might have been embarrassed a bit by the dancing tea pot, at least the arena isn't a mess?

Battle Details:

Way way back, Riz skipped this gym because throwing bugs at a bird gym seemed like a bad plan altogether. Now that he is back in the neighbourhood and striving towards a metal dog (and also, money for creamed corn), it's time to handle this.

Because of how much higher leveled Riz's Galvantula is compared to Falkner's birds, he's not put a lot of time into coming up with a very sneaky strategy. This is more of a brute force battle. For each bird, Riz will start off each battle with a Thunderwave, hoping to paralyse them, then he'll have Galvantula use Electro Ball (Galvantula is much quicker than Noctowl and Honchkrow, so he has a greater advantage using this move early on), Discharge, and finally Electroweb.

Because this is three birds on one spider, Galvantula will be holding a Sitrus Berry to heal herself at some point.

Should it get to a point where Galvantula faints, Riz will bring out his Trubbish Gozgoz as a back-up. Gozgoz is a poison type, which has no specific weaknesses or strengths over flying types, but he has a lot of moves that could induce poison and slowly eat away at any remaining HP (plus a pretty big level advantage) that Riz feels confident these two can get the job done.

He specifically avoided bringing in his own Ghost type to avoid the mutual weakness, knowing that he had a good selection of Dark moves available with his Houndoom.

He starts with Houndoom, using Detect to protect when he can, and Payback when he takes a hit. Foul Play, Beat Up, and Crunch will be his main attack moves with this Pokémon. His Midday Lycanroc will be back up, using moves like Sucker Punch and Bite to bring down the opposition.

His Alolan Ratticate is up next, throwing down moves like Bite, Sucker Punch, Assurance, and Crunch. A more aggressive style is used here with the occasional Focus Energy to up those critical hit chances. For back up, Keith will bring in Corviknight with Power Trip, but also making sure to have that Brave Bird to use in a pinch.

His Absol comes out last, and she loves to use Perish Song. She also has Sucker Punch, Bite, and Night Slash to complete the battle, but Keith will bring out his Torracat if needed. Torracat brings Lick and Bite to the battle, plus experience and a high level.

Starting off the battle, he and Hext will focus on starting off with Rock Smash, in the hopes of bringing down defense. Hext also won't hesitate to Roost and restore health where necessary.

Should Whitney find herself on a Rollout storm, however, Aymeric will gladly switch in Naegling, and rely on Sacred Sword to do the heavy lifting until Miltank has been wiped out. Clair's Gyarados gets an Electric Aura Wheel first thing, because he knows first-hand what electricity does to a Gyarados. Kingdra is probably the Pokémon he's least confident he can deal with - the type combination makes it hard to guarantee he can KO it in one or two hits. Sure serves as a reminder that he ought to evolve that Seadra Team Rocket gave him, though... Anyway, he opens with Destiny Bond just in case he gets his Counters and his Mirror Coats mixed up. As for Dragonite, he's hoping Vaniglia's Ice Beam will be enough to deal with it.

Battle Details:

Please know that Riz came here with plans. Specifically the plan to take on her Elite team (finally, a gym that is weak to all his bugs). Being unable to do that, Riz abandoned his original strategy to turn this battle into a curb stomp battle.

VS Espeon

Against Espeon, Riz will bring out his Ninjask. Espeon is weak to Bug and Ghost attacks. Ninjask has a bunch of powerful bug moves (and gets STAB on them) plus even a ghost move (Shadow Ball). For this battle, Riz'll first use Sword's Dance, then he'll have Ninjask go after Espeon with Silver Wind, which is not only a bug type move, but it also has the chance of boosting Ninjask's stats. He'll also toss in some X-Scissors and hell, maybe even a Shadow Ball.

Unlike Riz's other bugs, Ninjask is not immune to Psychic attacks, however, Ninjask is not only a higher level than Espeon, it also knows Rest and Sleep Talk, so he's not worried.

VS Mr Mime

Up against Mr Mime, Riz will be bringing out his Murkrow. Mr Mime is weak to Ghost type moves. Murkrow has several. Additionally, Murkrow is immune to Psychic, which takes care of most of Mr Mime's most damaging attacks. During the battle, Riz will be focusing on Murkrow's ghost type moves (Shadow Ball, Nightshade, Astonish). He'll also keep an eye out for if Mr Mime gets low in health and might be using Recover, so he can try to steal the effect using Murkrow's Snatch.

VS Alakazam

Up against Alakazam, Riz will be bringing out his Shedninja. Shedninja is completely immune to all of Alakazam's attacks. It also has a bunch of Ghost type attacks, which Riz will use to pulverise Alakazam. There is nothing further to his strategy, as Alakazam cannot do anything to Riz's extremely dead bug.

He'll be staring at Sabrina hard throughout this whole thing. Should've let him take on your elite team, lady. Maybe then you would've stood a chance.

Battle Details: So. Minfilia is going to be avoiding the weird swarms of the beginning of June by finally going after the gym. She's been training for this! It's quite clear that she's studied up on battling as best she can at the school, alongside fighting the Pokemon both in Violet City and the routes nearby... her steely resolve shows, even if she is still an inexperienced trainer in the end.

Her lead is a level 27 Pachirisu. Now, why would she be doing this? Setup. She does not expect said Pachirisu to survive long. She's just hoping for him to get a Nuzzle off, perhaps a daring Baby-Doll Eyes. But, really, he's just there for paralysis and then Volt Switch.

Switching to her female Meowstic, Emerald. Now, with Emerald, she hopes to use a mix of Sucker Punch and Charge Beam. She is aware brute force won't win, however - and thus, before that, she will get her Meowstic to use either Reflect or Light Screen, depending on what kind of attack Falkner uses more.

While this is her plan, she knows when to switch out Emerald - and that is Honchkrow. Instead of going for her ace, her Audino, she will instead switch to her Trapinch. Whom she will get to set up Sandstorm, and then... Dig? She knows that doesn't hit birds, right?
She does. But she's aiming for Dig to miss... so she can use Crunch to hit an unsuspecting Pokemon.

Once this is known, it likely won't work much. But then her Trapinch will be switching to simply trying to either bite them as they get close, or using Gust to disrupt the air.

After Trapinch faints, and if Emerald faints, Moenbryda has a plan. And that plan is her TM-powered Audino. In fact, she waited for the seasonal TMs to change, but none of them aided with this gym match. So, instead, she's got her Audino who'll use Dazzling Gleam and Hyper Voice from a distance, and Thunder Punch up close. If things get too dangerous and she feels her Audino can handle a little bit of healing, she'll use Life Dew.

Her final two Pokemon are last resorts. Her other Meowstic, male, is there for Sucker Punch and screens. And her Feraligatr from that weird Fourth Wall stuff is there for Ice Fang. While she is training them in more tactics, her Feraligatr is still learning to listen to her, and her male Meowstic isn't much of a fighter.

Team: Here- Gomera the Kangaskhan (Slide 10), Petals the Blissey (Slide 11), Mootiny the Tauros (Slide 14), Gobstopper the Lickilicky (Slide 15) and Cuja the Pangoro (Slide 6)
Battle Details: Emporio's going into Chuck's Gym with plenty of preparation ahead of time- he's been training this team up specifically for this moment! One might wonder if perhaps he's focused on Psychics. Or maybe even grass. Or-

Who are we kidding it's a team of Normal Type 'classics' because of course it is.

While Cuja the Pangoro waits on the bench to clean up worst case, if Emporio plays his cards well it shouldn't be necessary at all. The first pokemon out on the field is the truest to the spirit of his theme this time around, and it's no surprise that in a team meant to comprise entirely of local Normal types, Gomera the Kangaskhan is the first out.

Gomera's ability won't do anything in this fight, nor does she have any immediate advantages with her moves. Her best strategy is ultimately in her ability to take hits despite the type disadvantage; Emporio to that end orders her to weather the storm 'and then use all [she's] got', and as Gomera alternates dodging and taking Hitmonlee's kicks, she'll be working between moves like Growl and Tail Whip to whittle down their power and defenses. Gomera doesn't have too long to do this though- and eventually, even if it takes using Endure to get there, she'll have to retaliate with Reversal- a move that only becomes stronger the lower her HP gets.

Gomera has an ace in the hole as well if needed- Outrage has no obvious advantage, but it's also not likely a move that Hitmonlee is expecting to see. Either way, if Gomera goes down she goes down, but even if she takes Hitmonlee out first, Emporio recalls her for the next pokemon-

Namely, Petals the Blissey. Petals is more of a Support pokemon, but she has what she needs to finish off Hitmonlee worst case- Disarming Voice will provide a small advantage, and she's been trained to use it right out the gates as soon as she's on the field. Emporio doesn't want her reliant on that though- in fact once that move is out of the way, whoever she's up against is being faced with a very different strategy. Emporio commands her to 'soften [the opponent] up', and in reply Petals will immediately begin to use Sing to get the opponent deep in slumber. Essentially, Petals is nothing more than a 'stop-gap', someone buying time between Gomera and the real 'next in line'.

That 'next in line' pokemon, is Emporio's Tauros. Charging out like...well, like a Tauros, what Mootiny lacks in brains, he makes up for in dedication. Emporio tried to keep things as simple as possible for poor Mootiny, especially since the bulky thing was so excited about working with the team at all. Defended slightly by the ability Anger Point- which will practically max out Mootiny's attack stat if a critical blow lands, Mootiny should be coming onto the field against Hitmonchan, with eyes perfectly trained to go for those red fists.

Naturally, Emporio's order is to just 'go'; and in this case, those horns will be employed heavily for 'Horn Attack'. If it looks like things are getting rough for the Tauros however, Emporio managed to teach him one sneaky little trick- as it turns out, Tauros have one damaging psychic move, and Mootiny will be charging happily along with that Zen Headbut the minute he hears Emporio tell him to 'let it shine'.

Arceus only knows how That ended up the trick phrase, but apparently it is, and with any luck, the glowing psychic headbutt will finish Hitmonchan off. If not, Petals is coming back out to repeat her expected song and dance, this time with the addition of alternating between Pound, Life Dew to heal, and Sing to lock the thing down.

Neither Mootiny nor Petals however, will be first on the field to see Chuck's Poliwrath however. Instead, Emporio sends out Gobstopper the Lickilicky! As is Emporio's to to, the finale for the fight is the one that has the most complicated commands- Emporio first tells Gobstopper to take Chuck's pokemon 'for a spin', and Gobstopper has more than a few ways to do that- starting by spinning personally to nail them with Supersonic, using Wrap, Disable, and Lick to more properly lock the poor thing in their massive tongue (as per Emporio's second command of 'Make it PERSONAL'), and then to add insult to injury, start Slaming the thing around like the Hulk decided to be pink today. Knock Off is without a doubt thrown in there ('Shake 'm loose!'), but if even that isn't enough, Gobstopper has one final resort to rely upon.

Which is for Emporio to shout loudly, and clearly, that Gobstopper needs to make Poliwrath GREEN with force.

And well, at that point, Gobstopper's Power Whip is probably going to absolutely wreck shop with the poor Poliwrath, what with the water typing.

Ultimately, should worse come to worse, there are a few backup methods- first, if it seems Petals is on her last legs, Emporio will order her to 'prep the field' and cause her to use 'Healing Wish', if only to make sure whoever goes out next is at least topped off for health. Second is Emporio's Pangoro Cuja, who is more than willing to fulfill the command of 'Punch(ing) them out' with a series of Bullet Punches. Not to mention whatever other punches the bear wants to deliver.

Shell the Togekiss will at least get a shot against the Misdreavus because why not, taking advantage of status moves like Yawn and Charm to prevent damage, and using Wish to heal as needed, while whittling it down.

If for some reason the Houndoom gets ko'd before taking out the Haunter and Gengar, Shrike will switch to his backup plan of Corviknight taking advantage of steel type's immunity to poison.

Character: Princess Allura | [personal profile] heartofalioness
Badge/Gym Leader: Jasmine, Mineral Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Plattran the Pikachu, Nikki the Nidoqueen, and Morling the Floatzel
Battle Details:
First up is Plattran versus Skarmory. Plattran is a lot more equal in level to Skarmory than the next two matches, but while Skarmory may have the advantage in defenses and HP, Plattran has a higher Special Attack and a MUCH higher Speed. Starting off, Thunder Wave to paralyze the Armor Bird, followed by Charge and Electric Terrain to boost the following Electro Ball, which already has a high power thanks to Skarmory's Speed being halved by the paralysis and to Plattran holding a Magnet. If Skarmory manages to get in close for an attack, Plattran will counter with either Nuzzle or Thunder Punch, depending on whether the paralysis has worn off, and leap away to keep bombarding Skarmory with special Electric attacks from a distance.

Next, Magneton's opponent will be Nikki. While each side has one type immunity to the other, Allura is going to focus on Magneton's double weakness to Ground. Nikki starts with Mud Shot for a super-effective physical attack that'll lower Magneton's accuracy, followed by Bite until Magneton flinches, setting up Nikki to use Earth Power without being hindered by Light Screen, and repeat until Magneton goes down.

And finally, Morling gets a chance at a gym battle against Steelix! Not only is Water resistant to Steel, but being part Ground gives Steelix a weakness to Water. First Morling uses Whirlpool to trap Steelix and add a little extra damage per turn, and instead of charging in and trying to wittle down Steelix's insane defense, Morling will attack from a distance with Hydro Pump and Scald, then Brine once Steelix's health is low enough, all aided by the Floatzel holding a Scope Lens. If it manages to close the gap to attack Morling, he'll counter with either Aqua Tail or Rock Smash before moving away again to continue the onslaught.

Character: Emporio Alniño | [personal profile] seacub
Badge/Gym Leader: Glacier Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: Flying Time- Echo the Crowbat (Slide 3), Bow the Decidueye (Slide 4), Violet the Drifblim, Poker the Toucannon, Hula the Oricorio (Slide 5), and Mullet the Braviary (Slide 7)
Battle Details: In keeping with Emporio's trend of making damn sure that the gym he faces is faced with a challenge, Emporio ultimately decides to take on the Glacier Badge with a team of nothing but Flying Types- there's more to it than simply that of course, but the point is that he's coming out the gates with a distinct disadvantage.

What? Bow isn't flying type you say?? It's fine, he's grass type, close enough- besides, he's the backup cleaner anyway, and if it wasn't for her steep type disadvantage, Echo would be clean up too.

As it is- with a team of water-ice pokemon and one ground-ice, most of Emporio's mons lack a distinct advantage movewise on top of everything. As per typical though, he's not about to let that down, and he sends in Hula first, letting her start things off with a dance. Emporio's commands to Hula are all 'steps'- First, Third, Second, Backstep, so on, and with each one comes a form of dance; Hula begins first with Teeter Dance to inflict confusion, following with Feather Dance and Captivate throughout the show as she goes (though Captivate is skipped if Dewgong happens to be uninterested in the ladies). From there, her primary method of attack involves the Revelation Dance- now typed according to her style as 'Psychic'- and a Double Slap with her feathered palms. While the hope is that she can ultimately take down Dewgong on her own, she is also equipped with Baton Pass-

And if her dance must end early, then end it shall, as Mullet comes rocking and rolling right in behind her. Thanks to Sheer Force, Mullet's moves don't have any added effects if they cause damage- but they do pack a much harder punch. Mullet comes tearing in with Defog though, just in case any mist or similar has been filling the field. He makes use of moves like Leer, Scary Face and Hone Claws to buff himself up while taking the other down, and otherwise restricts himself to normal moves to land blows. Not that that doesn't hurt in its own way- Mullet will spam Crush Claw and Slash eagerly after Emporio's warning to 'use [his] feet', and while he'll repeat the stat-drop technique once Lapras comes out to play, he'll keep going and going until he's forced to retire and make way for the next combatant.

Which in this case is Poker- and Poker, while of the same typing and only slightly stronger, has Skill Link. Emporio's first order isn't taking ant chances. While he'd prefer to trick Pryce into getting his pokemon burned, he knows that most of Lapras' moveset is likely to be from a distance, and if he was going to pull the Beak Blast trick, he'd need direct contact. Instead, Emporio orders Poker to 'sing'- and considering Sing isn't on the pokemon's moveset, one could be forgiven for being confused.

Poker uses Supersonic and Screech however, rapidly taking down the pokemon's defenses while leaving them baffled, and before there can be any real chance to make a come-back, Emporio shouts for him to go on the attack. Literally- every blow made tears stones from the foundation of the ground for Rock Blast, a move that isn't ineffective but isn't super effective either thanks to Lapras' typing- but with five blows each run no matter what, it won't take long to pummel the pokemon down.

For both of the water-ice types, Bow sits on standbye as back up, however- ready and waiting to tear out and chew someone a new one with a hard and heavy Leaf Storm. But that's hardly necessary, one would hope.

The birds aren't done however- though when Mamoswine comes forward, it's not a bird that he's facing. The only flying type lacking in feathers, Violet the Drifblim, armed with an oran berry to maximize her Unburden skill, comes forward. She's quick to focus on what's important too- using Minimize to capitalize on her evasion, along with Astonish to keep the giant off guard as Emporio calls for her to show them a 'real haunting'. Violet's attacks are primarily her ghost moves- Shadow Ball, Phantom Force especially to avoid the worst of things, because while nothing from the ground can hit her, ice will be truly fatal. If things get really dire though, she makes use of Destiny Bond- and she's fully prepared to take him down with.

Of course if somehow the Mamoswine makes it through, Violet wasn't alone. Out comes Echo- who, while weak to ice, and unable to really do any proper poisoning (especially not if Mamoswine is equipped with something to ground her), is still ready to make moves. Confuse Ray to leave the pokemon dazed, and quick but otherwise fragile moves like Bite and Swift to take him down from there.

They might not even have to use Bow!

...

Sorry about the mess of your arena though Pryce.

Badge/Gym Leader: Rising Badge
Elite/Regular: REGULAR TEAM
Team: Blue the Dragonite (Slide 1)
Battle Details: The time has come.

Emporio's only recently gotten serious about trying the badge challenge again, but facing Clair he comes to a conclusion that this fight needs to be a little different. It's not the last one in the line- nor is it even anything akin to the Elite Four challenge.

But there is something symbolic to him about reaching the last gym in the country he woke up in, expecting a new world- and so, Emporio puts everything on a gamble. Normally going after a gym with an overlevelled team is a cakewalk.

This is a Solo however, and it's a Solo with the first pokemon he ever had.

Blue, now a Dragonite, stands tall beside Emporio at level 91. She's not been training extensively in anything save the ability to dodge- her power is already there enough after all. But now comes time for the battle, and Emporio has refused any back ups.

Instead with a breath, he's going in.

First up is the Gyarados, and the motherly dragon floods the field with a heavy Mist, protecting her stats while hiding her partly from view- she's making use of Agility as she does so, sending sparks through the air in a Thunder Wave to paralyze the 'dragon' fish.

Emporio has not given an audible command. All he whispered to her starting the fight was to play it safe- and then when it seems the time is perfect, a shout.

"STRIKE!"

Blue uses Thunder Punch against Gyarados, for as many times as it takes. But that's the easy part- Emporio calls for Blue to fall back when it's time for Kingdra to come out, using moves like Aqua Jet to cover ground even faster. The Mist is replenished, Thunder Wave coursing through, but now a new strategy is needed. As Kingdra is weak to Dragon by default, Blue charges in to pummel that seahorse a new one- with Dragon Rage certainly, but due to the limit of its power, Blue works to keep Kingdra Wrapped, picking away at it with moves like Slam and Wing Attack as well. With a finisher in the form of Dragon Tail, it's finally time for the final showdown.

Clair's Dragonite.

Blue may outclass them by 21 levels, but she's also been fighting longer. But she won't be going down without a fight- the Mist that's been replenished swirls- becoming an angry Twister that pelts down at the target. Emporio changes tactics- earlier he'd shouted for the dragon to 'fight under the table', but now?

'Hit him with everything you have!'

It's a clash of dragons- a swirling mess of Hurricane and Twister alike, with Blue avoiding the dangerous move of holding out for a two-turn strike. But when the window comes, she charges up for a single, solid blow, even if it isn't a super effective bonus.

Blue uses Hyper Beam- and with any luck it'll be over.

Of course, she can keep going with moves like Outrage (risky) if there's still more ground to cover...but the hope is she makes it.

It's a hell of a badass fight if she pulls through after all.
