Badge Requests

What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

!!! Badges must be mod approved. To earn a badge, please comment on this post. Please don't ask for more than two badges to be approved at once!

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.

The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

To officially request an Aurora League Gym, fill out the provided template and comment here.

Please use this form to request a badge or a showdown with the Elite Four! Post your request as a comment to this post. Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Please try not to PM or IM mods about badges (including elite challenges) unless your request has gone unanswered for more than a week.

!!! Please request badges as your character is actually in the general area of the gym!

!!! To preserve the spirit of the game, obtaining badges using recently-inherited Pokémon (ie, Pokemon received from dropped characters) that massively outlevel your own is discouraged. If this happens, you may be asked by the badge mod to revise your team. Inherited Pokemon that your character has had for a while and are the same level as the rest of your character's team are fine to use!

!!! Remember that you must fight all four members of the Elite Four and Champion Lance in a row. You may heal your Pokémon between battles and take a short break, but you cannot leave without ending your challenge.

Team: Here!
Battle Details: Prompto will be leading with, once again, IE.EXE the Luxio. He hopes to use Crunch mostly to take down Morty.

After IE, he will be bringing out Freckles the Gyarados - who now has Moxie, due to the recent event. Using a combination of Dragon Dance and Crunch, hopefully Freckles takes down any who IE couldn't.

Other then that, he is hoping his most powerful Pokemon - Togetic with Sweet Kiss and Safeguard and AncientPower, Pidgeot with Feather Dance and Roost and Hurricane, Lycanroc with Howl and Crunch, and his newly-evolved Metagross with Scary Face and Psychic - will be able to clean up.

As an aside, he's doing this battle the day before he leaves Ecruteak, on the 29th.

Battle Details: Now that Cocoa has evolved into a Hydreigon, Manaka wants him to get some real battle experience, so she'll be leading with him and telling him to do what a Hydreigon does—that is, wreck everything in his path with dark-type attacks. If he can't handle Morty's team single-handedly, Manaka has two more dark-types and three ghost-types in reserve, all of which are fairly high-leveled.

Badge/Gym Leader: Morty for the Fog Badge!
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Pinsy [L74 Delcatty], Flop [L79 Meowstic], Trixie [L77 Luxray], Sly [L43 Alolan Meowth]

Battle Details: This is baby's first gym battle so it'll take him a minute to find his footing, but he should figure stuff out after a bit. Flop is probably going to be MVP here, hitting Haunter and Gengar with Psychic moves and throwing up some buffs for the team, including Safeguard as necessary and Protect for himself here and there to ward some pesky Ghost moves. Sly will go up against Misdreavous primarily to get some good EXP, but even with a type advantage he probably won't be able to do too much since he's a little underleveled. When he's had enough, Trixie will come in to finish Misdreavous with Bite and Crunch. Pinsy is a trump card in the event of a sticky situation, as she's immune to Ghost moves and has Feint Attack which will be effective against all 3 Pokemon, and has Sing to put them to sleep if need be.

Badge/Gym Leader: Plain Badge | Whitney
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Mirkwood, Destroying Angel, and Roswell. As his Pokemon are such high level he feels it's more fair to only bring three instead of a full team of six.
Battle Details: Ford is going to start with Mirkwood on the theory that really, if he's smart, a ghost type at a normal gym is the only Pokemon he'll even need. This is going to bite him in the ass when she opens with a Girafarig, but luckily Mirkwood has a bunch of non-ghost moves and access to synthesis for healing. Should Mirkwood get in trouble he'll swap out into Destroying Angel with the hopes of drowning Whitney in status effects while consistently regaining health and sapping away her Pokemon's energy. Because Mirkwood would not be immune to the notorious rollout, he will be swapping in Destroying Angel to combat her Miltank either way in hopes of putting it to sleep or paralyzing it before it can do too much damage. Roswell is strictly a last-resort Pokemon is something goes really very badly, but he doesn't forsee needing to use her.

Character: Armin Arlert | [personal profile] schachmeister
Badge/Gym Leader: Lt Surge / Thunder badge
Elite/Regular: Regular team
Team: Hannibal the Piloswine, Himeko the Steelix, Magellan the Incineroar, Circinus the Voltorb, Atticus the Phanpy
Battle Details:

Hello, I am here again and a giant strategy fell out of my pocket.

Armin will start off the battle with Hannibal his Piloswine vs Lt Surge’s Electabuzz. Though they are not that dissimilar in level, he’s banking on Hannibal’s immunity to electricity and his opponent’s weakness to ground attacks to carry him through the battle.

He’ll start off by using a few mud bombs and mud slaps, not only to damage his opponent, but more critically to lower his accuracy. When the electrabuzz is properly covered in mud, Armin will have Hannibal switch to using bulldoze until his opponent goes down. Due to Electrabuzz’s wide variety of electric attacks which Hannibal should be immune to, Armin is not expecting him to be too hurt yet at this stage of the fight.

Next up is Lt Surge’s magneton, for which Armin will keep Hannibal in the fight. In essence, he is counting on magneton’s 4x weakness to ground overcoming Hannibal’s weakness to 2x weakness to steel attacks. Again, as with Lt Surge’s Electrabuzz, Hannibal will first focus on using a few mud slaps and mud bombs. These are even more critical than in the first fight as he will really need that drop in accuracy to protect him from the steel attacks. Once that has been accomplished, he’ll switch to using bulldoze again. (great move, thanks mysterious benefactor for the prom loot.)

Armin is hoping for Hannibal to get him through the whole fight against Lt Surge’s Magneton (after which he will withdraw him to rest) but should he faint before the end of the battle, he’ll bring out his Incineroar Magellan. Magellan might not have an immunity to electric attacks, but he does resist magneton’s steel attacks, and he knows both bulldoze (ground) and a variety of nice fire attacks. Adding to that, his higher level, and Armin has no doubt Magellan will be able to take on this opponent.

At the end of this battle, Armin will withdraw whoever was in the battle, (undoubtedly leading to loud protests from Magellan if he is out in the ring) and bring out his Steelix Himeko to mop up the final battle.

Himeko has the disadvantage of level against Lt Surge’s Raichu, but she has complete immunity to electricity which should take care of the majority of Raichu’s damage dealing attacks. She has one damage dealing ground attack (bulldoze) she’ll start pounding (oh my) Lt Surge’s Raichu with, but should she exhaust that move before the battle is over, she’ll switch to using basically any of her other damage dealing attacks (slam, tackle, rock throw, rock tomb, and so on) until her opponent goes down.

Should Himeko go down against Lt Surge’s Raichu, Armin will bring Magellan (back) out into play. Again, the big cat ain’t got an immunity to electricity (but also no weakness) but the difference in level should be enough. Or so Armin has planned at least.

As a further note, Armin will be bringing Circinus the voltorb and Atticus the phanpy along to the battle, but he won’t use them. In the rare event that all his other pokemon are taken out, he will forfeit. He brought Atticus along to witness a proper gym battle and teach the little guy about them. He brought Circinus along to show off show him to Lt Surge and ask if he has any advice on raising a voltorb / electric type properly.

Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team:
Reno (lv. 44)
Shuriken (lv. 43)
Flux (lv. 39)
Costa (lv. 42)

Battle Details:
Alright, so against the Electabuzz, Cissnei is going to be using Shuriken to start using a combination of Sand-Attack and Charm to throw off it's aim and weaken it. From there Bite and Take Down will be used to take it down and, if need be, Shuriken will be swapped out for Costa who will use Crunch to finish it off, sneaking in an Embargo to keep Surge from using items.

With the Magneton, Reno will be the lead utilizing his fire moves to weaken and defeat it. Flamethrower and Fire Blast will be the moves used the most during this fight though if push comes to shove she'll have Reno use Fire Spin for constant damage.

And lastly, with the Raichu, Cissnei is just going to go for an all out assault. Her main hitters will be Reno and Flux, utilizing Flux's Double Team move to make him harder to hit so he can use Quick Attack and Slam before he's taken down and Reno's Fire Spin to do some constant damage like he did with Magneton.

Badge/Gym Leader: Hive Badge / Bugsy
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Danny the Lucario, Cú the Lycanroc, Mufusa the Pyroar, Fionn the Rufflet and Casper the Haunter
Battle Details: New Battle. Different Gym Leader. Ash is determined to do this one right! And completely forgot he could put his egg away so he could have a full party for this so, whoops.

Leading the charge this time is Casper. Having learned from Rocket Prom about the effectiveness of status effects, Casper is going to be using Confuse Ray and Hypnosis to try and mess up Bugsy's Pokemon before actually striking out with Shadow Punch. When it looks like he's about to faint, Ash will go for a sacrificial play and have Casper use Curse; Even if he knocks himself out with it, the Curse will endure and chip away at the Pokemon Casper was facing.

Following Casper will be Cú. Unaware of her type advantage, Ash will have her use Rock Slide purely because it's a strong attack - and then probably realise how effective it is. He'll tell her to Howl to raise her attack, and then carry on with endless Rock Slides and Accelrock attacks to try and deal as much pure damage as possible.

Fionn comes next and is also going to be focused on hitting hard and fast. After a Hone Claws to get his attack up, Fionn will be using Aerial Ace and Slash for maximum power. Against Scizor, Ash will notice that it's not as effective as he thought it should be and will be stumped on what to do, which will probably result in Fionn being knocked out.

After Fionn comes none other than Mufusa. She'll be setting the battlefield ablaze with her Flamethrower and Fire Fang attacks, which are amazingly effective against Scizor. If she is somehow knocked out then last is Danny, who has a level advantage even if he lacks a type advantage.

Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team:
Bean (lv. 75)
Chocochick (lv. 67)
Pride (lv. 67)
Shepard (lv. 74)
Cluster (lv. 44)

Battle Details:
Honestly the only Pokemon here that Noctis is worried about having any issue with is Clefable so he's going to go for sheer power against it. Bean is going to lead the attack with Pride being the back up if need be. Noctis being Noctis, he's going to rely on heavy hitting moves like Hyper Beam and Heavy Slam with Bean and then Thunder Fang and Crunch with Pride.

For Girafarig, he's going to utilize one of his newer Pokemon given the type advantage. His Crustle will lead the charge here, utilizing Bug Bite and Fury Cutter. If need be, he'll swap in Shepard to bring it home on this one, utilizing her sheer force with rock moves as well as her dark type move Crunch.

And lastly, for Miltank, Chocochick and Shepard will be used here as he doesn't have any fighting types to help him out so sheer force is his go-to as usual. He'll actually utilize moves like Screech and Feather Dance to wear the Miltank down a bit before using Chocochick's Rocksmash, Drill Peck and Bullet Seed to finish it off. If need be, he'll once again rely on Shepard's rock moves to finish it up if Chocochick is unable to.

Battle Details: Surprisingly, Prompto has wanted to try out a strategy for a while, after looking up moves. So, he's leading with Luxio to intimidate, before switching to Togetic to use Charm and Thunder Wave - and then buffing with Nasty Plot and Substitute, so that he can Baton Pass to Fratre, his Level 34 Mimikyu. And then Dazzling Gleam spam with max Special Attack - that is, between Double Teams.

If Fratre falls, he'll go back to using his strongest Pokemon - IE with Wild Charge and Return, Freckles the Gyarados with Dragon Dance and Aqua Tail, Taioh the Staraptor with Close Combat, and Emmy the Metagross with Hammer Arm and Psychic. Since he outlevels her a lot, he is planning on winning.

Character: Jean Kirschstein | [personal profile] notvaljean
Badge/Gym Leader: Lt. Surge for the Thunder Badge
Elite/Regular: regular team
Team: Blitz the Electrode, Lila the Rattata, Fisch the Gyarados, Polo the Incineroar, Spookycheeks the Mimikyu, and Wing Snake the Dunsparce

Battle Details: Jean is taking a two pronged approach to this battle.

Before any battling takes place, he's going to show up at Lt. Surge's place with his horde of Electrodes. Look at all his fine Electrodes, Lieutenant! Let him tell you the story of how he got them, of how they were being used and abused by Team Rocket and how everyone else kept putting them to sleep but Jean talked to them and made friends! Here, do you want to see some pictures? Jean has pictures: this is what they looked like before, and see how handsome and healthy they are now! Some of them are even accessorizing with shutter shades these days! And look at how many of them are going to carefully selected trainers who will treat them well and raise them right. Even the big, old, scarred up ones have found homes!

Is this bonding good enough to prove Jean's commitment to Electric types and get the badge?

No? You have a heart of stone, Lt. Surge. Jean will send his Electrodes on their way and get down to the business of battling.

Jean will start with Wing Snake the Dunsparce and his super cheap Dig move. Wing Snake isn't high level but hopefully his ability to get down where the Electric types can't hit him will work to his advantage. Once Wing Snake gets lows on health or faints, Jean will toss in Spookycheeks, who can hopefully get in at least two hits of Play Rough before being taken out. For the Magneton, it's time for Polo and his Flamethrower. Lila and Fisch will be waiting in the wings with Crunch, Hyper Beam, and Hyper Fang, and if things get ugly, Blitz is there to wage a war of attrition and go man to man with any other Electric types still standing and increase his brand legend as the Death Ball.

Elite/Regular: Regular!
Team: Marcel the Slobbercanine, Herja the Pupitar, Brunhilde the Rhyhorn, Freja the Houndoom, That Tiny Round Thing That Ate A Dumptruck, and Stormr the Electrike
Battle Details: SO Bertolt is going to be leading his charge with Marcel and Brunhilde - Marcel being his strongest, and Brunhilde so she can burn off all of her extra energy. With Marcel, he'll be relying mostly on his Extreme Speed and fire attacks, and if he's able to, Hyper Beam. While it's recharging it'll leave him open, but should Marcel end up falling, he'll swap in Brunhilde to focus on Surge's team with her ground attacks. The same will go with his Pupitar should anything happen to his Rhyhorn, and his Houndoom is purely with for back-up should all of the others go down too. Of course if the rest of her "pack" goes down, she'll be relentless in her attacks, and it'd be a very bad idea to be on the wrong end of any Hyper Beams from her.

His Elecktrike is tagging along purely to see if being around other electric types/being in his element will help him bond more with Bert, and his Aron is... well. Moral support.

And it's the easiest way to make sure he doesn't eat anymore trucks in Vermillion City. Don't give him that look! He didn't think he'd take down a dump truck that was hundreds of times bigger!

Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr / Falkner
Elite/Regular: Regular!
Team: Boop! (Blaziken, Charizard, Mudsdale, Grimer, Electrode)
Battle Details: Krieg will be using his (level 35) Electrode as his first heavy hitter because HECK YEAH type advantage! His (level 48) Mudsdale and (level 50) Grimer will be the initial backups if the electricity can't cut it. He'll only pull out his Charizard and Blaziken as a last resort, since they're kind of insanely overpowered for this particular match. But, if brute force is what it takes to win...

Character: Athena | [personal profile] kissmyaspis
Badge/Gym Leader: Zephyr
Elite/Regular: Regular!
Team: Here! She's only got six pokemon so that's her full team rn
Battle Details: She'll be starting off hitting hard with Zeus (lvl 60 Luxray) and taking full advantage of his speed and type advantage to mess with Falkner's birds. That'll be her main strategy, because that's the only type advantage she has over Falkner, but she'll send out Xiphos (lvl 100 Aegislash) and Typhon (lvl 100 Haxorus) as some muscle to chip them down with pure force if Zeus goes down! The others will be on standby, with Cerberus (lvl 100 Arcanine) next in line to go out if things get hairy (bc Hermes and Ares are weak to flying whoops).

Character: Heather Mason | [personal profile] foolishwren
Badge/Gym Leader: Thunderbadge | Lt. Surge
Elite/Regular: Elite Team
Team: Here!
Battle Details: Heather is bringing: Carousel (Rapidash), Arty (Furret), Cujo (Growlithe), Val Jr. (Hitmonchan), Huan (Houndoom), and Alessa (Absol).

Heather is getting a little concerned by how much she seems to rely on Fire-types these days-- but WELLP. You make do with what you got!

In this case, there is exactly one superstar here, and everyone else is playing backup. That superstar is Carousel, who knows Drill Run. Heather plans to harness the Rapidash's excellent speed in order to spam the heck out of that move until it can be spammed no longer.

Should Carousel be knocked out of the running before taking out the whole team, she's hoping the rest of her roster's array of Fire and Fighting moves will make a melty dent in Magnezone, with brute force taking care of the rest.

As a last resort, she's got Arty's trusty Dig move.

Character: Cissnei | [personal profile] notmyrealname
Badge/Gym Leader: Marsh Badge
Elite/Regular: Regular Team
Team:
Reno (lv. 60)
Shuriken (lv. 60)
Fiend (lv. 49)
Costa (lv. 54)
Flux (lv. 59)
Rocket (lv. 59)

Battle Details:
Cissnei's main strategy here is going to involve a lot of switching around when it comes to Pokemon. She's going to utilize Shuriken's Charm, Baby-doll Eyes and Sand Attack to make it harder for their opponents before swapping out to either Reno or Rocket for some sheer power house hits. Flux will act as back up when need be but all three of them will be in a constant rotation, backing up her other Pokemon who have the type advantage.

She's more worried about the Mr. Mime and Alakazam because of their sheer power so she's going to specifically save Costa and Fiend for them. Utilizing their ghost-type and dark-type moves, Cissnei is going to use the type advantage for all it's worth, Fiend using Shadow Ball, Shadow Sneak and Night Shade the most while Costa will use Embargo, Crunch and Sucker Punch the most.

Character: Armin Arlert | [personal profile] schachmeister
Badge/Gym Leader: Saffron City / Sabrina / Marsh badge
Elite/Regular: Regular team
Team: Magellan the Incineroar (lvl70), Himeko the Steelix (lvl 52), Amadeus the Noctowl (lvl 100)
Battle Details:

Star of this battle is definitely going to be Magellan the mighty incineroar, who not only is a dark type with several dark attacks which psychic types are vulnerable too, but who, himself, is completely immune to psychic attacks.

Armin is going to start off the battle by pitting Magellan against Sabrina's Espeon. Magellan will start by trying to get a few good Licks in. Not only is this a ghost type attack (which Espeon is vulnerable to, but Armin is mainly hoping this will paralyse Magellan's opponent). Afterwards, he'll switch to using his three dark typed attacks (Bite, Darkest lariat, Throat chop) in rapid succession until Espeon is down for the count. Due to Magellan's favourable typing and his higher level, Armin is expecting Magellan to get through the fight relatively okay.

For the second fight against Mr Mime, Armin will withdraw Magellan and instead send out his steelix Himeko. Mr Mime is vulnerable to steel attacks, while Himeko resists psychic attacks. Star of this battle will be Himeko's attack Gyro ball. Not only is this a steel type move, it is also stronger the quicker an opponent is. Steelix's speed stat is somewhere around a measily 30, while Mr Mime rocks a speed stat of 90 in general, so this should nicely boost this attack. She might also throw in an Iron tail or two. Due to Himeko being lower in level and only resisting psychic attacks rather than being immune to them, Armin expects her to take more damage than Magellan did. He's still hoping she'll make it through the fight though, but if she goes down, he'll bring out his Incineroar again.

For the third and final fight against Sabrina's Alakazam, Armin will once again bring out his Incineroar. The strategy this time is not going to be very different from his first fight. Magellan will throw in a few ghost licks hoping to paralyse his opponent before switching to his dark typed attacks again. Should he run out of those before the battle is over, he'll switch to a show of force through using his strongest fire attacks.

Armin is hoping these two will be enough to clean up the gym, but he is bringing Amadeus as back-up should it not be enough. Amadeus has a lot of psychic attacks himself which will obviously be useless, so he'll mostly focus on the few flying type attacks he does have.

Character: Eren Jaeger | [personal profile] greatrage
Badge/Gym Leader: Saffron / Sabrina / Marsh
Elite/Regular: Regular
Team: Here! He'll be challenging the gym with his Alolan Marowak (lv 65), Zoroark (lv 100), and Scizor (lv 100)
Battle Details: Eren, as usual in his gym battles, goes for flashy, strong, supereffective hits. He knows gym leaders are tough, and he doesn't pull any punches. He starts with his marowak to give her some more battle experience, but she's not as strong. She'll likely wipe the floor with Espeon just due to type advantage and strong, unrelenting attacks..

Zoroark will probably come out cloaked as Nidoking, trying to get Sabrina to waste a psychic type attack so he can get off a Nasty Plot, then Night Daze. He'll probably fall to Mr. Mime due to his weakness to fairy. Either Marowak or Scizor will finish it off.

Against Alakazam, Eren unleashes the full fury of MEGA EVOLUTION. He's never used it before, and a battle with a gym leader seems like the best place to do it. Scizor is incredibly focused, bringing strong bug and steel type attacks to bear with impressive speed. Like Eren, Scizor does not toy with his opponents -- if he can knock Alakazam out in one hit, he absolutely will, with no remorse or hesitation. Chill out, scizor. Geez.

Character: Bertolt Hoover | [personal profile] bertall
Badge/Gym Leader: Saffron/Vermillion
Elite/Regular: Regular!
Team: Freja the houndoom, the Slobbercanine, Herja the Pupitar, and Aron for TEAM SUPPORT, Annie the Glaceon, and his Lampent
Battle Details: Seeing as how Freja is his toughest dark type, he is going to rely mainly on her attacks this time around. She'll be opening up with Nasty Plot, Smog until poison is inflicted, and Beat-Up, intent on chipping away and hitting Sabrina's Espeon as hard as possible. Once the Espeon is down, he'll have Freja use Feint Attack on the Mr. Mime before Bertolt swaps her out for Marcel, his Arcanine. At that point, he'll put himself on the defensive with Safeguard and proceed to work on (pun may or may not be intended) burning him down. Extreme Speed will be used almost immediately after Safeguard to give an extra boost, and after that he'll be unleashing Flamethrower and the myriad of other fire moves in his arsenal while weaving Ember between them. If things end up looking dire, he'll try to finish it off with Crunch.

Near the end and on the last fight against her Alakazam, Bertolt is going to send out his Lampent. Even though there is a decent level gap between the two and they both know the little guy will get knocked out, Bertolt is going to do his absolute best to get Curse off before it goes down. If it's able to get a second attack off too, Will-O-Wisp will follow for that nice little burn effect. Once his Lampent goes down, Bertolt will immediately sic Marcel back on it with Retaliate, and then Hyper Beam. Should anything happen to Marcel at this point, he'll take Freja back out and continue hitting Sabrina's Alakazam as hard as possible with her Dark-type moves, and if Freja goes down too, he'll send his Pupitar in to clean up with Payback and Dark Pulse.

His Glaceon is with purely for back-up should everything go completely sour, and his Aron is again, tagging along for moral support and to keep Saffron's trucks safe lest they meet the same fate as Vermillion's.

Battle Details: Jean is here with his team of miscreants and ready to take on this gym! He's going to lead with Polo, who will be using his dark attacks and roaring happily about his immunity to psychic attacks. Spookycheeks will be there to support him with her ghosts attacks, as will Lila the Rattata with her dark attacks. Blitz will make an appearance more because he insisted on coming than because he'll actually do much good in this fight, but he might throw out some electric attacks just for the hell of it. But really, Polo will be leading the show, complete with strutting around and flexing his giant bara cat muscles.

Battle Details: Angel only wanted to cheer on her friends! However, after everyone wrapped up, Angel's Mareep decided it was her turn! Backed up by the bulk of the team (with Skagbait staying by Angel's side) and bolstered by Angel's surprised support, Mari will lead the charge with her electric skills!

Also, I wanted to ask a question here if that's okay. Skagbait was gifted to Angel after her friend left the game. She was level 32 at the time. Now that she's even in level with the rest of the team, is she okay to use in gym battles, or should I still go ahead and assume that she's off limits? Thanks!

Character: Bertolt Hoover | [personal profile] bertall
Badge/Gym Leader: Celadon, Erika
Elite/Regular: Regular!
Team: Arcanine, Glaceon, Houndoom, Aron for Truck Supervision, and Growlithe.
Battle Details: IT'S BUGSY 2.0, FOLKS. Being a Grass-gym, Bertolt won't focus too much on strategizing. His 'strategy' this time around is to, in short, release the hounds. He'll have his Growlithe and Aron watching the fight - again to keep his Aron out of trouble, and to let his Growlithe see just what kind of power her Arcanine-dad hides behind all of that fluff.

Marcel will be his main form of offense, opening up Extreme Speed, then his entire arsenal of fire-type moves (especially Flamethrower). In the rare event that something takes out Marcel, he'll swap him out with his Glaceon, where he'll keep sticking her on the offensive too with ice-type moves and a well-placed Hyper Beam. His Houndoom is tagging along as a last resort, but again, she'll be attacking with primarily her fire-type attacks.

He's so, so sorry, Erika. Can he buy lunch to make up for it?

Character: Armin Arlert | [personal profile] schachmeister
Badge/Gym Leader: Erika / Celadon / Rainbow badge
Elite/Regular: Regular team
Team: Magellan the Icineroar (lvl 75), Hannibal the Piloswine (lvl 55), Juniper the Dragalge (lvl 100)
Battle Details:

With Jumpluff’s 4x weakness to ice, of course it’s gotta be Hannibal the Piloswine who starts off this match. Armin is aware of Hannibal’s weakness to grass, but he’s hoping that Jumpluff won’t stand up to Hannibal’s ice attacks for long enough for it to knock him out, especially at Hanniball’s higher level. First, Hannibal will use Mist to prevent Jumpluff from changing his stats. Then Hannibal will start using Icy Fang due to the potential of both making Jumpluff flinch and freezing it. Should he exhaust the move, he’ll switch to using Icy Wind, Blizzard and Powder snow.

At the end of this battle, Armin will switch out Hannibal and bring out Magellan the Incineroar.

(Magellan is totally loving all this gym battling he’s being doing lately)

Anyway, Magellan is a fire/dark type. He resists grass attacks. Tangrowth is a grass type. Tangrowth is weak to fire. The math isn’t too hard. Magellan will come straight out of his pokeball hitting hard and hitting fast. He’ll start with using his new move Torment to limit the moves Tangrowth can use. Armin figures that this way, even if Tangrowth has an attack that does a fair bit of damage to Magellan, it will only be able to use it every other turn. Then, with that done, he’ll start using Flame charge to boost his own speed. After a few of those, he’ll switch to using Fire fang for the chance to both burn and make his opponent flinch. If that ain’t enough, he’s got flamethrower too.

Armin expects Magellan to defeat Tangrowth with little difficulty and he’ll keep him out to face down Bellossom. Like with Tangrowth, Magellan resist grass while Bellossom is weak to fire. Armin will stick to the same strategy as before, focusing on Magellan’s quick hitting fire attacks.

Like before, he’ll bring Juniper along with him just in case (she has several poison attacks), but he thinks Magellan and Hannibal should be enough to clean up this gym.
