Badge Requests



 What does it take? It changes for each gym! Normally, the games increase in difficulty as you progress, but that wouldn't be any fun if characters could just as easily take on the Gyms that are supposed to be for top trainers only. THEREFORE, the gym leaders aren't going to be pushovers like in the games! In order to win a badge, the mods will take into account your current roster and the attacks and advantages to see whether your pokémon is strong enough to win a badge or not.

Each gym leader has a Regular Team of pokemon and an Elite Team of pokemon you can challenge. It's up to a trainer to decide which team to challenge, but if you take on the Elite Team of six level 100 Pokemon, you'll receive double the prize money. The items, however, are not doubled. Excellent for trainers looking for the extra challenge or those looking to make money fast.

The Elite Four is now distributing Keystones and Mega Stones to promising trainers! Any trainer who has defeated all eight gyms of a single region will be granted a Keystone and one Mega Stone of their choice. No player will be able to have more than one Mega Stone at a time, and those looking to switch theirs out may do so once every four months. Mega Stones may be used in any casual trainer battle, but as far as gyms go may only be used in Elite battles.


The Indigo Plateau is now open to challengers! To qualify, trainers must have all sixteen badges from Johto and Kanto. Every Pokémon they face will be level 100, and the Elite Four and the Champion have heaps of talent and experience. As such, we will be reviewing Indigo Plateau challenges with more scrutiny than we bring to badge requests. A higher level of strategy is required to win on this field. Show us what you've got!

The League Certificate qualifying the winner to create and lead their own Pokémon "Gym." This Gym is part not of the Indigo League, but the Aurora League.
Aurora League Gym Leaders may choose their own battle specializations, as well as. design their own unique Gym (which will take one month to build from the time of request) and Badge (which will be available as soon as the Gym opens). They will be compensated for their work as Gym Leaders with a stipend that will cover building costs, labor (the Leader's and any Trainers they may employ), and rewards for victorious challengers.

We ask that Aurora Gym Leaders think carefully about the location of their Gym and the difficulty level they wish to present challengers. We also ask that they create their own Badge Request page like this one so that others can request battles with them.

Badges will generally be processed once per week, on either Wednesday or during the weekend. Battle Details: Oh. Rocks. How exciting... not. Geologists weren't excited back in his world either, so Jaskier guesses this another thing that is consistant across realms. At least Brock is handsome? That makes up for something, right? Have a wink, Brock.

Our chosen one today is Euco the enthusiastic Ludicolo, who is ready to dance his way through this battle. He opens with Rain Dance to keep his Rain Dish full and increase the power of his Water-type attacks, then he will Teeter Dance each pile of rocks- I mean, Brock's Pokémon before going to town with Surf, only changing to Giga Drain if he needs to heal. But, y'know, Shell Bell and Rain Dish... yeah, Euco won't see his dance interrupted, thank you very much.

Look. Look. Geralt has a Gengar that's level 100 and knows Thunderbolt. There's only one way this ends, and it's with crispy Gyarados.

>vs. Kingdra

For this fight, Geralt's going to send out Scorpion the Galarian Rapidash (84). As a fairy type, he's immune to Dragon-type moves and deals x2 damage with Dazzling Gleam and Fairy Wind. He'll also use Confusion in order to increase the chance that the Kingdra just won't be able to land a hit at all.

>vs. Dragonite

So this fight is going to go in two stages. First, Geralt will send out Vea the Zebstrika (78) for the purposes of using Thunder Wave until the Dragonite has been paralyzed. Once paralyzed, she'll use Volt Switch to swap out with Paczki the Jellicent (80). Paczki's only goal is to land an Ice Beam. Probably just one Ice Beam, because x4 damage is a bitch, but Just. An Ice Beam.

Since Espeon is weak to dark-type moves and dark-types are immune to psychic-types, Geralt's going to start this off with Eskel the Houndoom (100). He'll use Smog for the poison chance, Leer to decrease Defense, and Howl to raise Attack before Crunching the Espeon into submission. There's probably a cat and dog joke that I can make here, but that's honestly beneath all of us.

>vs. Mr. Mime

Mr. Mime is getting the same dark-type dog treatment. It's 'let's take advantage of this one thing' o'clock, sorry clown man.

>vs. Alakazam

Y'know what? Dark Dog Murder Strategy seems to be working out pretty well here. With an immunity to psychic-type moves, Alakazam is pretty crippled in terms of its offensive output, so like. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Rinse and repeat with the same dark-based strategy that he used on the Espeon and Mr. Mime for the Alakazam. Eskel is a good boy. He will get a treat after sweeping a gym.

Battle Details: Moving your Fire-type gym to an ice cavern? Now that's what Jaskier calls a power move. He'll have hundreds of questions for Blaine, both about this furnished cave and the Cinabar volcano, so hopefully Blaine is in the mood for some nerdy chatter.

Anyway, today's battle will be starred by... what do you mean, you don't see it? Right there, floating in the middle of the cave thanks to Pokémon logic! Yep, the little heart! Hey, no judging. Lampro the Lvudisc may be a loving matchmaker, yes, but he's also a little shit. And he's wearing the ribbon he won at the semper race, because sometimes you just gotta show off. And hey, maybe it works as an intimidation tactic or something. Lampro will start by setting up Rain Dance, in order to active his Swift Swim ability and to decrease the power of Fire-type attacks, then he'll put up Aqua Ring so together with the Shell Bell they may take care of any possible burn damage. After that it's just a matter of spamming Surf. Think you can stop the little fish now it's reached mach speed?

Battle Details: For once, Doppio leads with a Pokémon that's actually underleveled! Connie still has the type advantage, though, so maybe that's what he's counting on? At any rate, he's going to see how far those Flame Charges and Sucker Punches can carry him.

When Connie goes down, if Jasmine's Magneton still needs to be dealt with, Doppio will send out his Wobbuffet first, because he's seen what lightning can do to Gyarados. Mirror Coat and Counter ought to do the trick, but if Magneton is sturdier than expected, he's not above using Destiny Bond when ordered to.

Finally, with only Steelix left, it's Pesci's time to shine. Hydro Pump may be low on accuracy, but he doesn't have to get more than two hits in, right?

Mighty will focus the Girafarig with Bite, and Yon will be brought out to handle the Clefable with Iron Tail. Kamui and Burnin' will be in reserve for extra firepower as well as status afflicting moves to slow the opponent down.

Battle Details: Since Morty is rocking mostly ghost and/or ghost/poison types, Izuku is going to focus on heading this battle with Kamui to set up status afflictions before carefully bringing out Thirteen and Decidueye one at a time to hit hard with supereffective ghost moves while keeping an eye on them getting hit hard in return. Spirit Shackle will be put to great use here to lock each opponent into battle while Izuku whittles them down. Mighty and Yon both have dig, which will be used for super effective hits against the poison/ghost types. Otherwise, generally the same strategy as he used with Whitney- play to the type advantage with strong Pokemon in reserve for emergencies.

Battle Details: Oops all fire types? Well Hot Wings, Fuzz, and Bones are all dual types. They're all plenty strong and do know a variety of fire-based or flying-based moves. It's not that Bakugou wants to curb stomp, but he might have put off doing some badges for a while and just training/traveling. Again, I'm not really good at these things.

Battle Details: Burnin' is, in theory, going to take the stage mainly to attempt to overpower these steel types with 2x fire damage with all the fire moves he has at his disposal, though he will be brought back in favor of Mighty when Magneton comes out to avoid getting zapped. Same strategy as the other gyms with Manual ready to take on Steelix as well with super effective water moves.

Team: Here! Swapping out Diva (Tsareena) for Blues (Spiritomb) in the box below.
Battle Details: So... Yuzu's going to be figuring out real quickly that she's likely going to curbstomp a good many gyms at this rate until she gets 8 badges and can challenge the Elite teams. Regardless, for this battle? She's hoping the MVP is going to be Blues the Spiritomb.

I still think it's crazy that her first shiny encounter was Spiritomb.

In any case, seeing as how Morty's team is Fairy-free, Blues is... largely in the clear here. Fairy being the only type Blues is weak against, whereas all of Morty's team is weak against her. She hopes that Blues will be able to use it's type advantage to it's fullest with things like Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball, seeing as how those moves will be supereffective to Morty's whole team and Blues can largely just take whatever they dish out, both with it's resistances and being... level 100.

In case of emergencies, though, she's got a whole team of level 100s behind Blues just in case.

Team: Cotton the Altaria (100, holding Lum Berry), Viola the Luxray (100, holding Shell Bell), Regina the Swanna (100, holding Rawst Berry), Dahlia the Wigglytuff (100, holding Sitrus Berry), Dittany the Lapras (100, holding Sitrus Berry), Hoya the Mudsdale (83, holding Sitrus Berry).
Battle Details: Let's be honest here: Jaskier does not like Blue. He reminds him of his own artistic rival, Valdo Marx, so if Blue opens his big mouth Jaskier will wrinkle his nose and meet sass with sass, fame be damned for once.

Two notes for this battle! One, Jaskier has chosen a specific Pokémon for each of Blue's, so if Blue switches Pokémon, assume Jaskier is switching accordingly as well. And two, Jaskier has brought some healing items for this one! He'll only use them as last resort, especially since most of his team has recovery, but yeah, assume healing is being done in every instance if it comes down to it.

►Vs Venusaur
Cotton the Altaria will be the one opening this battle. Grass attacks can only make 1/4 of damage to her, her Flying-type hits Venusaur for weakness and STAB, and she's holding a Lum Berry to take care of those status effects Grass-types are known for. She'll start with Cotton Guard to raise her defense, then use Agility to have a better chance to dodge attacks. She's doing this to protect herself during the extra turn that takes to use Sky Attack, which will be the main source of damage: it's Flying-type, has 140 power and high critical radio, and can cause flinching. If she needs healing, she'll use Roost, which temporarily removes her Flying-type - if this happens, then she'll switch to damaging Venusaur with Flamethrower. No power of music this time, aren't you proud?

►Vs Blastoise
Viola the Luxray is here with Intimidate, which lowers Blastoise's attack as soon as he enters the field, plus Electric-type attacks that should hit nicely with STAB+type weakness, allowing his Shell Bell to keep him healthy during the battle. He'll use Leer to also lower Blastoise's defense before going to town with Thunderbolt, which hopefully will cause paralysis. If after a couple of turns this doesn't happen, Viola will risk a Swagger to confuse Blastoise. It also raises its attack, sure, but it should balance out the effects of Intimidate, and his health should be good thanks to the Shell Bell, so this late into the battle, Viola should be able to take those hits and finish things even if the confusion gods aren't on his side.

►Vs Charizard
Still wearing her cute choker from the contest, here comes Regina the Swanna, with a Rawst Berry to take care of burns, typing that allows her to resist Fire, and Water attacks that hit -yeah, you guess it- with STAB+weakness. After setting up Aqua Ring for healing and Rain Dance to boost her water and lower Charizard's fire, she'll spam Surf on the big Lizard, very occasionally changing to Water Pulse just to see if she can land confusion - not that Charizard can do that much damage to her if its attacks land anyway. ♫ If you like it you should put an Aqua Ring on it ♫

►Vs Tyranitar
Because of this big guy's Sand Stream, Dahlia the Wigglytuff comes to fight with a Sitrus Berry ready to be munched if she loses too much health, and she'll also Stockpile to raise her (resistant to Dark!) defenses a little. Is Tyranitar a boy? Because if it is, then her Cute Charm ability is here to infatuate the hell out of it. If it isn't or Cute Charm doesn't activate that 30% chance, then Dahlia will confuse it with Sweet Kiss. Her main source of damage will come in the form of Play Rough, which has a chance to lower Tyranitar's attack and will hit with STAB+weakness. If even after all this healing is still needed, she'll Swallow then Stockpile again before going back to Play Rough.

►Vs Pidgeot
Dittany the Lapras's first move will be setting up Hail to get rid of Tyranitar's sand and to do damage to Pidgeot every turn. Oh, but that's not all! Right after that, she will use Whirlpool, so enjoy the double passive damage. Then it's just a matter of Ice Beam-ing Pidgeot into oblivion for that sweet STAB and Ice-weakness combo, only changing to Life Dew if healing is needed and the Sitrus Berry isn't enough. Look, look, she isn't singing either!

►Vs Jolteon
Similarly to Dittany, Hoya the Mudsdale's first move will be controling the weather for that sweet passive damage. She uses Sandstorm to bring back a, well, sandstorm that she's inmune to. Do you know what else she's inmune to? Eletric-type attacks! So between this, her Sitrus Berrry and her ability Stamina raising her defense every time Jolteon lands a not-electric hit, Hoya isn't too worried about any damage she gets in return and makes her brave enough to Swagger. Enjoy being confused while Hoya Earthquakes her way through this final battle, hitting (once again!) with STAB and Jolteon's only weakness. Hoya is the only member of the team that hasn't reached level 100, but this defense and inmunity nonsense should make up for it.

Team: Unleahsed would be Ciannwn the Silvally, Fraldariend the Galarian Rapidash, Gremlin the Rattata, Dean the Emboar, Gabby the Miltank, and Gwin the Altaria
Battle Details: Despite living in Vermillion City for a good few months now, it's taken Dimitri a while to get to challenging Surge. But, listen, if you lost your boyfriend, and suddenly had a bunch of people reliving your traumatic memories, and got distracted by smacking Team Rocket members... You'd space too. But Dimitri is finally here, and so is his team!

He's starting off with someone new to the gym circuit, too - up against Surge's Manectric is Ciannwn the Silvally! This is somewhat of a risky take, and figuring out what Manectric's ability will be key to if this was a smart idea or not for Ciannwn's first gym battle.

If Manectric has Static as an ability, well, that's basically the worst case scenario, because most of Ciannwn's moves are rather physical in nature. If that's what it comes down to, Dimitri hopes Ciannwn can boost her strength with an ear piercing Metal Sound and go in blazing with a Tri Attack. The chance to freeze, burn, or maybe even paralyze Manectric with this trick means it's a good opportunity to just go in with the most blunt force tactic. Dimitri and Ciannwn may also take a risk at Static, and go in with Silvally's strongest move, Multi-Attack.

Ideally, of course, Manectric could have Lightning Rod, in which case Ciannwn's options open up considerably. All the various Fang moves - Fire Fang, Ice Fang, and Poison Fang - are tried out in an effort to inflict their various status conditions upon Manectric before the reverse can happen, and the boost up combo of Metal Sound and Tri Attack is definitely utilized here, too. Not only that, but if Ciannwn thinks she can beat Manectric in speed, she'll go for an Iron Head in hopes of making her opponent flinch before they can utilize an electric move that would paralyze her.

As the lowest level Pokemon on Dimitri's team, this may prove to be a difficult battle for Ciannwn... But if she's lucky in regards to status conditions, perhaps she'll pull through.

Up again Electrode, Fraldariend the Galarian Rapidash is who trots up to the plate! He's here primarily to counter the chance of Electrode having Static as well, along with a few other tricks to counter the various paralysis inducing moves and the infamous Explosion. And as the fastest of Dimitri's team, he has the highest chance of not being under so much threat by moves like Electro Ball or Gyro Ball, and the use of Agility should also help measure things out if Electrode is just a little faster.

To start things off, Dimitri hopes that Fraldariend's psychic typing will make Sarge go immediately on the offensive with a Mirror Coat or Light Screen... but instead of using a Special move, Fraldariend will immediately charge forward with a Psycho Cut! A decent damage dealer all on its own, its increased crit rate definitely has a chance to smart. And Megahorn is a heavy hitter of a move in its own right. Of course, this is all in hopes of baiting Sarge and Electrode... The second that Electrode starts sparking, or preparing with Charge, THAT'S when Dimitri takes a chance by having Fraldariend use Psybeam.

Victory will come to them if they're lucky enough to avoid getting paralyzed, and if they can in turn confuse Electrode so that it can't paralyze Fraldariend, or, almost worse, explode and take the whole gym with them. If things seem risky, and Dimitri thinks that Fraldariend can manage it, Heal Pulse will pull him back to fighting form.

For the third round, it's rodent against rodent, as Pachirisu's opponent is Gremlin the Rattata. And Gremlin doesn't waste any time. Eager to prove that he's the OG Rodent, thank you very much, he chomps down with a Super Fang of his own! That will take out the majority of Pachirisu's health, and Gremlin doesn't plan on letting them regain it. Certainly Pachirisu won't be expecting a follow up Ice Beam right after that, which could freeze the other little rodent in their tracks. Pachirisu's Endure might help them survive that hit... but Gremlin won't let them survive the next one as he eagerly tries to finish up with Quick Attack. The name of the game here is clearly overwhelming Sarge and Pachirisu with surprising force.

Gremlin isn't the only one with this tactic, either. Magnezone's Steel typing isn't going to help them against their opponent: Dean the Emboar, whose own speed is likely fairly close to Magnezone's own....

...And if he needs a slight boost up, that's fine, because Dean starts off right on the offensive with a Flame Charge. Not only will that heat mean some trouble for Magnezone's steely exterior, but it can give Dean a slight boost in speed so that he can quickly move onto the next move while he's up close and person - a Rock Smash that Magnezone will be feeling for a while. Much like Ciannwn, Dean doesn't really have a lot of moves that lend well to thoughtful and delicate tactics. It's all about hitting hard and fast, with a move like Flamethrower to roast Magnezone up, and a Power Up Punch to keep Dean's fists up to par.

For an opponent like Electivire, it might seem strange to send out someone so cute like Gabby the Miltank, but she's the best for the job! That much becomes very clear when she stomps one little hoof into the ground, and sends an Earthquake rolling through the gym! That's a hit that would throw anyone off balance, and hopefully Electivire is no different. That Low Kick of Electivire's could prove to be a problem, but hopefully Gabby's Rock Smash is more of one, because she plans to follow it up with moves like Zen Headbutt, to make her opponent flinch, and, of course.... Baby's favorite Rollout.

And if things get a little dicey, it's nothing a Milk Drink can't fix!

Finally, up against Sarge's infamous Raichu... Sending out a flying type is a bad idea, no one would deny that. However, what if that flying type doesn't stay a flying type? That's how it is with Gwin the Altaria - or, rather, Gwin the Mega Altaria, shedding off that typing as easily as anything.

And it is an Altaria, mega or not. What else does one do but Sing?

Much like a good few of its teammates, Raichu has the dangerous ability of Static, and so Gwin does well to listen to daddy and keep his distance. Fortunately, he's not lacking in Special moves that allow him such a privilege. Moonblast is the best example of this, with that brilliant lunar beam carving in a nice solid hit to start the (hopefully) onesided match off. With that quick hit out of the way, Gwin nestles himself soundly in a Cotton Guard should Raichu wake a little earlier than expected, but then it's right back to hard hits with Moonblast and Dragon Pulse. If Raichu wakes - no he doesn't! More singing, thank you.

Out of this entire lineup, Ciannwn is admittedly the weakest link of the group, especially if her match up doesn't turn out as well as Dimtiri would like. He'll be sure to take her out of her battle if it looks like she's a little too hurt for it to be advisable, and before she can decide Explosion is a perfectly valid end battle choice.

If that's the case, Dimitri will risk having one of his later fighters jump in to hopefully clean up with a particularly strong hit - Gremlin being possibly the most notable with moves like Super Fang at his disposal. Team work makes the dream work!

Battle Details: It's Nara's first gym, and he's going to rely solely on having the type advantage!

To be more specific, he's going to open with Broccole and have her spam Leaf Tornado as much as possible. This should work out well enough against Rhyhorn, and to some degree for the Golem owing to the steep type advantage and the accuracy dropping effect of the move. However, Broccole is still somewhat underleveled for the gym and Narancia might have forgotten that Synthesis exists as a healing option, so sooner or later the little grass type is probably going to need to be switched out. When that happens, he'll switch to Cannoli and have him pick up where Broccole left off with Hammer Arm. This should probably be enough to finish the fight, but if it isn't, then he'll switch in Mr. Smith and finish things up with Steel Wing.

🦉 noctowl (lv 30): ume will start first and due to his flying type weakness, may not last for too long. despite that, he's going to leave his mark and be sure to at least take one down with him— he'll use toxic to badly poison noctowl, then protect will be used to extend his battle time for just a little longer (and let noctowl suffer from worsening poison). after, he'll then set up physical walls for the rest of the team using reflect, to damper some of that attack power during five rounds. lastly, ume will close his time with petal dance. i expect him to either barely make it through taking out noctowl with the help of reflect and protect (then being finished off easily by honchkrow) or to be taken out with little left in noctowl.

🐦 honchkrow (lv 32): hina is next in line and will immediately hit honchkrow with the attack + status move, nuzzle. thunderbolt will be the main choice of attack power from here on out (probably two turns), and with the help of ume's reflect, will buff up hina from any physical attacks that make it through honchkrow's paralysis until this point (moving forward, reflect would've stopped working). lastly, parabolic charge will be used to finalize honchkrow as well as bump up hina's hp, and move onto the next bad boy with hina in mostly good health!

🪶 pidgeot (lv 35): with hina still in-field, she will use her last chosen attack, volt switch, to deal initial damage to pidgeot and pass the baton to tsubaki. tsubaki will then use thunder wave to make life bothersome for birds, set up light screen to buff up from any special flying attacks, then spam between thunderbolt and shadow sneak if this isn't enough to take out pidgeot and tsubaki gets punted at some point, hina will make a return to finish him off with a switch between parabolic charge for healing + damage and the obligatory thunderbolt for damage.

Team: Here!! For this gym she's going to use Gyoza, Chow Mein, Al'Risha, Meringue, Matcha, and Ankaa!
Battle Details: Ochako's third gym badge and currently the one she did the most prep for!! Whitney has a reputation of being terrifyingly strong, so she's bringing in her heavy hitters! A tad over-leveled on some of her pokes, but that never hurt anyone, right?

Gyoza (Pangoro)
Starting things off (plus!) ultra strong right off the bat. Gyoza will open the fight hopefully against Girafarig to start, with a dual type advantage against the normal/psychic type that Ochako planned for. But!! She won't go straight on the offensive, instead using Taunt to force Girafarig into only offensive moves. Ochako has heard rumors of Whitney lovingly using moves that inflict status conditions - especially Attract - and thus prepped exactly for that. No scumlord tactics for you this round, Whitney!!

Once taunted, Gyoza will begin the assault - barreling into poor Girafarig with Bullet Punch just to outspeed and get in some damage with that priority move, then follow up with super-effective hits like Night Slash (for that sweet, sweet critical hit possibility) and Vital Throw. As he takes damage, however (and depending on if Girafarig is still up and at 'em), he'll use a Parting Shot to lower his target's stats and switch out with a teammate to take his place as the next member in the fray.


Al'Risha (Dragalge)
Al'Risha's first time out in a long time and it's to play a major role in a gym challenge!! She is mainly going to be used against Clefable, and because Ochako's STARTER POKEMON is one, she knows exactly how bulky and obnoxious they can be! So, Al'Risha is going to immediately toss out some Toxic poison on that Clefable to whittle it down more and more over time, then use moves like Water Pulse for the chance to confuse Clefable on top of the poison and even use her own scumlord tactics by spewing out a Smokescreen to lower Clefable's visibility enough that moves won't be as prone to hit.

Offensively, she's going to mostly spam Poison Tail, knowing that Clefable won't stand a chance against those moves, but because she still takes neutral damage to fairy type attacks, being part dragon...Al'Risha may go down to Clefable, but not before putting in a serious bout of effort. She did good and Ochako is more than proud of her powerful sea dragon!!


Matcha (Decidueye)
If and when Al'Risha goes down to Clefable, Matcha is going to be the one to take her spot in the fight. By this point, Ochako is hoping Clefable is low enough health that even just a few shots from Matcha's Leaf Blade or Spirit Shackle will be enough to down it! And if not, she's going to use Synthesis enough so that the Toxic poison will finish it off long before she goes down. Listen, Ochako and her Pokemon know their strengths, and sometimes playing the long game is the best way to beat a ploofy, pink WALL.

However, Matcha won't be sticking around for Milktank. As soon as that thicc piece of BEEF comes out, Ochako is hard switching Matcha out. She had her part to play, but now it's time to let another shine.


Meringue (Togetic)
Here's where the fun starts.

Meringue is part one of a two-tiered plan Ochako has on how to deal with Miltank. Because that thing is a power house and probably going to ROLLOUT, she's going to attempt to set up right away with Meringue. Yawn right out the gate to put Milktank to sleep, couple with maybe a Sweet Kiss for the additional confusion, then pour on the Charm long enough to cripple that cow. She'll even match any healing moves Miltank uses with her own - Life Dew - to stay afloat. Ochako trained and studied HARD for this fight, and she's going to use the best of her skills and moves to take Whitney down, matching her strategy blow for blow.

But, Meringue isn't here just to stall Miltank out. Oh, no, she's going for that lovely damage as well as trying to stack status boosts with Ancient Power. Once she's got enough of those utterly delicious omni-boosts (maybe three, max, switching between moves like ancient power, yawn (in case of roll out), and Life Dew to maintain her health), well...it's time for part two of the plan Ochako had in mind!! And that is to Baton Pass to the real superstar of this fight...who has been waiting in the wings for her time to shine since the day she hatched--


Chow Mein (Mienshao)
SHE CAME IN LIKE A WREEEEECKING BAAALLLL--

No, seriously, Chow Mein is ready the moment she's released, slurping up those tasty stat boosts Meringue gifted to her with Baton Pass, and immediately wasting no time in going for Miltank's throat. A Power-Up Punch because of course she needs MORE attack stacked on the tippy-top of her wondrous stat-boosted sundae, then going into a flurry of sweeping rounds with Force Palm and Low Kick. But she's not just an offensive madwoman here, oh no!! This Pokemon knows she's in the spotlight, so even in her frenzy for glory, she's wise about it. Any means to stack Roll Out or get in hard-hitting attacks like Body Slam and Stomp from that dubious cow will be Detect-ed and stopped right then and there.

And if, for some reason, Chow Mein can't take out Miltank, she'll go down swinging. Literally. Her final move if she's taken out will be Close Combat to PUMMEL THAT BEEF and make it nice and tender for her comrades.


Ankaa (Altaria)
Truly, if Ochako gets to this point in the battle, Ankaa is the one to end it. A drastic bout, but she will kamikaze herself by using Perish Song to take out Miltank in as many turns as it takes, but will still keep the hits coming as well, until then. Blows of Moonblast and Dragon Pulse will hopefully be all that's needed to ground that beef once and for all if it doesn't fall to Perish Song.

Bellossom (L: 50) - Kirishima barely resists stepping back himself as the ever-aggressive Dagger enters the field. His commands are really more like suggestions as the Beedrill mercilessly tries to Poison Jab his opponent. In the case Bellossom does get poisoned, Venoshock will be used. In the case that Dagger is put to sleep thanks to Sleep Powder, Kirishima will put King back in to clean things up.

Crobat (L: 50) - Gauntlet is resistant to both Poison and Flying type moves, with the only possible threat to him coming if Crobat has Absorb in its arsenal. Nevertheless, he'll lay some groundwork (heh) with Stealth Rock then go for Rock Tomb and Stone Edge.

Ariados (L: 52) - Stealth Rock should start the match off with some damage to Ariados. While Derringer could be in trouble from the Bug-Type moves, he should be faster than Ariados to be able to perform Psychic. If not, hopefully Gauntlet's still got enough left in him to finish this fight.

Venomoth (L: 55) - It's pretty weird Venomoth has so many Psychic-type moves when it's technically Poison/Bug type, isn't it? Almost as weird as a Tauros who can just Flamethrower and Rock Slide thanks to his egg moves.

Team: On-hand team, though note Louie will only be using Crown and Topaz, unless both of those Pokemon faint.
Battle Details: Initially Louie was unsure about this battle, having heard from Armin that Whitney is a tough one. Further research, however, has him feeling more prepared and abandoning his initial plan to train for this battle all winter. He's feeling confident in the strategies he's cooked up!

Louie will start with Topaz the Scrafty to take on Girafarig with STAB Crunch, although if Whitney switches to Clefable immediately to counter Topaz's typing, or just starts with Clefable, Louie won't hesitate to switch out to Crown the Roserade. The strategy with Crown is to set up Leech Seed and then a single layer of Toxic Spikes. After that, Toxic to badly poison Clefable itself, and then Giga Drain and Venoshock - thanks to a reusable TM from Arceus - alternating between the two moves in that order.

Whenever Miltank comes out, that's Topaz's time, since he resists Rollout and its Rock typing. Brick Break to lower Miltank's defense, then Low Kick for further damage against the heavy opposing Pokemon.

Battle Details: So, Shrike doesn't have a type advantage, and he's studied enough to know this! What he does have, however, is a Togekiss who knows Ancient Power.

Not that he plans on just relying on that, of course! Instead, he'll probably start off each round with a Yawn to minimize potential damage taken, and throw in a Wish here and there to keep Shell topped off. Not to mention STAB-boosted Fairy Wind for the Honchkrow. If for any reason things do get dicey, though, he'll simply Baton Pass any of the stat boosts that might have come from Ancient Power to his Corviknight to finish things off.

Oh, and as an aside, yes, he will spend the entire battle (and time in the gym in general) with his hood up and pulled forward to hide his face... So it may come as a bit of a surprise when the obviously very shy kid starts giving some quite well-thought and tactically sound commands to his team!

Battle Details:
Allura's prepared by sparring with and asking for advice from friends, watching the falconry demos per Romelle's suggestion, and waiting for a day when it promises to snow to increase the chance of hail.

First up will be Coressa, not only for her experience and type advantage, but because she has higher Special Defenses to resist Noctowl's Psychic attacks. However, she is a bit of a glass cannon, and Noctowl is immune to Ghost moves, so Allura will have the Vulpix focus on using her speed, Aurora Veil, and possible Snow Cloak to keep her distance from any physical attacks and counter with Ice attacks at long range, saving Disable for any really troublesome moves.

For Honchkrow, Allura will switch to Chumirra. Honchkrow is a much more physical attacker, but thanks to being part Fairy, her experience advantage, her more robust constitution and defense, and the ability Huge Power, Chumirra will be a hard hitter against Honchkrow, especially with Play Rough. And for extra assurance, Allura will have her set up Rain Dance on the first move and Aqua Ring at roughly 60% health so Chumirra can hit harder and last longer in battle.

And lastly for Pidgeot, Allura will attempt to send out Morling the Floatzel, matching hard-hitting striker with a hard-hitting striker who also happens to know Ice Fang, and piggy-backing off the Rain Dance for Swift Swim...

I say "attempt" because it's at this point that tiny, squishy little Togepi Ayrol says he wants to try since his besties have been fighting so hard! Seriously, the speech he makes in Poké-speak is probably toothache-inducing levels of Anime Protagonist Inspiring, even Morling is crying. So... yeah, have a fairy birb chick for an opponent, Pidgeot.

Obviously while Ayrol has a good enough level, good physical and special defenses, and no immediate weaknesses to Pidgeot's typing... baby has a teeny tiny health bar, an even lower Attack stat, and mostly status/multi-battle support moves. This is gonna be a rough match-up, especially against Falkner's ace, but it's not like Ayrol's totally helpless either. He has Sweet Kiss and Yawn at his disposal to set up confusion or sleep (hopefully Pidgeot has Keen Eye instead of Tangled Feet), Morning Sun and Life Dew to recover health so he can keep fighting. As for attacks, Allura picked up a Dazzling Gleam TM for him in Cherrygrove, and not only is Ancient Power a Rock-type move, it has a chance of boosting all five stats by one stage, 20% thanks to Serene Grace, which can turn spamming it before he runs out of juice really nasty really quickly. And while Allura would save Metronome and Double-Edge as absolute last resorts, there's a chance Metronome could pull something super-effective for Pidgeot out of its hat. And if this crazy strategy works, at the end of this Ayrol will evolve into a beautiful Togetic! (Don't worry, mods, not gonna pull an evolutio ex machina mid-battle.)

Battle Details: So, Leonardo has a plan, and that plan is to use his Noctowl as a wall, using moves like Hypnosis to put Whitney's pokemon to sleep, Roost to recover HP, and Take Down, Dream Eater, and Air Slash to go in for the kill. This works pretty well, given the level advantage he has going in, but then out comes the Miltank with Rollout, and guess what birds don't like? Having rocks thrown at them. So at that point, he will swap into Ciliega, and basically plan to use Sunny Day to buff his own pokemon up, Leefage and Petal Blizzard as outright damaging moves, Leech Seed to chip away at Miltank's HP over time, and Morning Sun to recover its own HP should it start dipping low. If things are still looking like trouble, then Leonardo will swap into his Smeargle and just try to Comet Punch and Brick Break the Miltank until it goes down.

Battle Details: Rainer's "strategy" for her first serious attempt at a badge is to just overpower Whitney's Pokemon with sheer level strength by throwing three Level 100 Pokemon at them. The only further strategy she has is selecting Snippers 3.0 as her finisher, because she read that Fighting types are good against Normal types. She is also relying on her Snorunt blessing of having her Pokemon be resistant to status effects this month!

Girafarig

First out on the field is PI the Yungoos.

On his first turn, Riz will command Yungoos to use Crunch. Crunch is a dark type move (which Girafarig is weak to) and due to Yungoos' Strongjaw ability, its strength is increased by a further 50%. There is also the chance of it causing Girafarig to Flinch. As long as Yungoos does not take significant damage, Riz will continue to spam Crunch, hoping that between the level difference, the weakness, Strongjaw and potential flinching, it goes down.

If Yungoos takes significant damage, however (anything more than 25%), Riz intends to switch him out for Tisz his Spinarak.

With Spinarak on the field, Riz is aware he's now vulnerable to Girafarig's psychic attacks, but at the same time, Girafarig is vulnerable to Spinarak's bug moves. Immediately, Riz intends to hit Girafarig with an Infestation to chip away at its remaining HP over several turns, before switching to using Pin Missile. Should Girafarig hit Spinarak for any significant amount of damage, he'll use Leech Life to try and recover some of this.

Hopefully between all of this, Girafarig goes down.


Clefable

For Clefable, Riz will switch to Gozgoz his Trubbish. Clefable is vulnerable to the poison type, and while it does have some Psychic moves that it could use to target Trubbish, these are largely non-damaging.

Straight out of the gate, Riz will use Sludge Bomb to both inflict damage to Clefable, but also hopefully poison the other pokemon. Riz intends to spam both Sludge Bomb and Gunk Shot to take down Clefable. If Clefable starts trying to buff its own stats, Riz will use Clear Smog to both do some damage as well as reset those buffs.

Trubbish is stocked with a Sitrus Berry to restore some HP if it gets hit. If Trubbish uses his berry at any point, Riz's next attack will be Belch to take advantage of that. Also, if things start looking dire on both ends, Riz is not above commanding Trubbish to use Explosion to take both himself and Clefable out.


Miltank

Finally, there is Miltank, that scourge of young trainers everywhere.

Unfortunately, Miltank being Miltank has no weaknesses that Riz can exploit, so this is just going to be a messy rumble.

If Trubbish is still standing, Riz will try and repeat the strategy he used on Clefable: first Sludge Bomb to damage and inflict poison, then Sludge Bomb and Gunk Shot to lower Miltank's HP as much as possible. And finally, he has Explosion in his pocket if things get really dire.

Once Trubbish is taken out (or takes itself out), Riz will return his Spinarak to the field. First, he'll have her use Agility to boost her own speed, and then its simply trying to use all his most damaging moves (or inflict poison should Miltank not be under that condition). He's not expecting Spinarak to take down Miltank, especially not with that damned Roll-out. He's just hoping to keep her on the field long enough to eat away at a bit more of Milbank's HP.

Once Spinarak goes down, its time for Yungoos to return to the field. Both are normal type pokemon, so there's no advantages or disadvantages here. Yungoos *is* of a higher level than Miltank, and will hopefully have more HP left than it does.

Yungoos will focus on using Hyper Fang (which receives both STAB damage as well as a damage increase from his Strongjaw ability) to lower Miltank's HP and maybe (hopefully) cause it to flinch.

Should Yungoos' HP drop significantly, Riz will order it to use Rest to recover his HP. And because Yungoos is holding a Chesto Berry, he'll immediately wake up on the next turn to go straight back to inflicting damage. If need be, he'll repeat the Rests though this time without the instant wake-up. Hopefully though, between the all three of his pokemon and Yungoos' higher level, he'll be able to take down the Dreadcow.

Team: Sariel the Noibat (lvl 43), Michael the Luxray (lvl 75), and Azazel the Staraptor (lvl 75) as a backup.

Battle Details: It might have taken Sandalphon a while, but now that he had the time to prepare, and quite frankly over level his pokémon, he feels as if he has a chance. The angel knows he has a winning chance, so he doesn’t look too fazed as he faces the gym leader with his head held high.

He leads with Sariel (Noibat), just to lure Falkner into a sense of security, due to his level being higher than Falkner’s ace pokémon. He’ll use Double Team to make his Noibat harder to hit, and when he needs to go on the offensive, he will use either Bite or Air Cutter. If his HP gets too low, Sandalphon will ask Sariel to Roost before pulling him out of battle.

When Sariel’s back in his pokéball, Sandalphon will pull out the big guns in the form of Michael (Luxray). Michael will alternate between using Charge and Spark, keeping Michael in as long as possible. If he does happen to get to low health, Michael with swap out with Azazel (Staraptor) via Volt Switch. Once Azazel is out, the angel will just stick with him using Close Combat and Aerial Ace.

Team: Roster with Pidgeot subbed in for the baby Wimpod
Battle Details: Scrooge is actually going to focus on the challenge rather than go straight for steamrolling with Luxray. The main one he's going to use is Slowbro, going full tilt with its disabling properties. Meowth is also going to get a fair bit of play especially Pay Day usage, making something of a one-two punch with the two of them. Luxray will come out if any of his Pokemon fall, but he's hoping to not have to rely on it.

Team: Second verse same as the first; Roster with Pidgeot subbed in for Wimpod once again
Battle Details: Just like the last badge, Scrooge is going to bounce around type advantages, for the most part. He'll keep Meowth out of the battle here because of Heracross, but is going to mostly go with Appletun, even with the type disadvantage. Protect and Recover will be used when necessary but he's going to mostly lean into offensive attacks. Pidgeot will come out when necessary, except against Bugsy's Scizor. This is when Scrooge will use Houndoom and only Houndoom, bouncing back and forth between Dark moves and Fire moves, recognizing Scizor as a threat.

Battle Details: It looks like, once again, Doppio is in no mood to dawdle. He brings out Cristina in hopes that her Aura Wheel will be enough to handle Pryce's Dewgong and Lapras, then swaps in Connie once it's time to take down Mamoswine. Gomma is there to finish off said Mamoswine with Counters in case Connie faints before she can burn it to a crisp. Bold...!
